Jeff Prosser [00:00:00]:

You want to talk about building trust in your team. Every time he told them something was going to happen, it happened. And he put himself out there for some ridicule he can't look, they went on the road and lost to Detroit and fell to like three and five, soon to be three and six. And they got just reamed. They weren't even competitive. And he went in front of his team and then in front of the media and said, this is a one off. I'm not worried about it. It's pretty bold being two or three or four games under 500 and convincing your team first and then it proves right, I mean, that's going to have reciprocal and he did this all year long. I mean, he did it early when they went out and won at the chargers early. This is a good football team. He did it when they lost at Kansas City that, hey, look, if this and this happens, we can still play for a title. Also refreshing, right? One game at a time. One play at a time. Coaches act like they don't know what the scenarios are to get them to the playoffs. He took these guys at four and seven and said do this, this and this and we'll be playing for the playoffs at the end of the year. And sure enough they did this, that and this and they did. And so.

Scott Riley [00:01:05]:

Welcome back to another episode of straight down the middle ish. We're joined by a local legend and really one of the biggest influences on straight down the middle ish you've been.

Matt Every [00:01:15]:

Part of my life, dude, for like 15 years. You don't even know.

Jeff Prosser [00:01:18]:

It like step brothers.

Scott Riley [00:01:20]:

Thank god.

Jeff Prosser [00:01:20]:

Did we just become best friends? Did that just happen?

Scott Riley [00:01:23]:

We got 1010 XL 92.5s. Jeff prosser joining us today. Before we started this little intro we were talking about kind of the new schedule we might be seeing with the PGA tour going forward and how the players had been moved from may to march and how's this schedule going to shake out. Is the PGA going to stay in may?

Matt Every [00:01:52]:

I think it is. As far as I know that the hiccup last year in Rochester in May, it was already decided it was going there before they did the flop. So they just kind of have to deal with it for one year. But I think going forward it will stay. We were talking about courses in the area, jeff and I, and it's just a rough time of year here. Everywhere is punching. A lot of the places that overseed the transition is brutal and I think you're going to see TPC one day give up the overseed, give up the green look.

Jeff Prosser [00:02:28]:

Is overseed strictly for the optics?

Matt Every [00:02:32]:

Yes.

Jeff Prosser [00:02:33]:

So the health of the golf course might even be better if they didn't do it. Is that what you're saying? 100% well, and they do it strictly for the optics.

Matt Every [00:02:41]:

Then all over town, a lot of resorts do it. TPC is like crown jewel.

Scott Riley [00:02:46]:

Augusta national. They oversee, don't they?

Matt Every [00:02:49]:

Everywhere does florida? The whole Florida swing is overseated.

Jeff Prosser [00:02:52]:

Sure.

Matt Every [00:02:53]:

People think a lot of guys in the Florida swing have an advantage because it's Bermuda. Well, that's not really the case, because when we come through the roughs overseded, the greens are overseated. It does change it a little bit. You still have that Bermuda.

Jeff Prosser [00:03:09]:

Even when they let it go dormant, they do do something to the greens, right? Or do they let those go dormant of the golf course would be kind of yellowish.

Matt Every [00:03:18]:

Brown yeah, but it's like march, march around here. Everywhere is primo. That doesn't overseed it's, like, as good.

Jeff Prosser [00:03:26]:

As it gets from a playing standpoint, but not from a look standpoint.

Matt Every [00:03:30]:

Yes. I think we're going to good luck.

Jeff Prosser [00:03:31]:

Broadcasting that thing to the world.

Matt Every [00:03:33]:

Brown I think it would work, man. I really do. I think the course would play a lot different. The greens. The slopes would be a lot you could use them more. Balls will start working their way down more. That oversee can get a little sticky. There's nothing like fast Bermuda.

Jeff Prosser [00:03:51]:

Remember the old days of watching the British Open and it was always remember it was before HDTV could barely follow the ball blowing. You can't see anything. This is remember that?

Matt Every [00:04:01]:

Apparently we're in CBC. We're in store for one this year. They've had a really dry summer over there.

Jeff Prosser [00:04:07]:

Where are we at Liverpool this year?

Matt Every [00:04:09]:

Liverpool? Yeah, but the brown I'm talking about in March when it gets real crusty, like, you can't even lean on your putter.

Scott Riley [00:04:15]:

It'll just slippery.

Matt Every [00:04:18]:

You'll eat it if you do well.

Jeff Prosser [00:04:21]:

That makes for some interesting TV viewing, too. We've lost Ricky's in the pond on.

Matt Every [00:04:25]:

13. Who do you like at the British this year?

Jeff Prosser [00:04:28]:

I kind of like you're a boy, I'm not going to lie.

Matt Every [00:04:30]:

Who's that live friend?

Jeff Prosser [00:04:33]:

Cam Seawoo.

Matt Every [00:04:34]:

Oh, Cam.

Scott Riley [00:04:35]:

Defense.

Jeff Prosser [00:04:36]:

This guy is on a Seawoo kick like you would.

Matt Every [00:04:41]:

Not everyone.

Jeff Prosser [00:04:42]:

It's not a kick. It's part of your fiber.

Matt Every [00:04:45]:

It's part of it?

Jeff Prosser [00:04:46]:

Yeah.

Matt Every [00:04:46]:

Take it or leave it.

Jeff Prosser [00:04:47]:

You know what's funny, too? He texted me about Seawu Kim as I was getting ready to travel, and I turned on the TV the next day and Tom Kim is going off. Why am I just realizing those two jokers look like they could be brothers?

Matt Every [00:04:59]:

You think?

Jeff Prosser [00:05:00]:

I think they do. I think they look they both got that little, like that like the gut, but it's like a it's like a hard looking gut. They both have that they waddle onto and off of the greens.

Matt Every [00:05:10]:

They both have great personalities, too.

Jeff Prosser [00:05:12]:

I thought your guy was going off and then I learned that played well. Yeah.

Matt Every [00:05:16]:

Last week he was in the what up?

Jeff Prosser [00:05:19]:

This year's US open was just OD and it was like an elevator. Yeah, it's kind of surface, wasn't it?

Matt Every [00:05:26]:

It was a miss for me.

Jeff Prosser [00:05:27]:

Yeah. I wondered, I mean, do you lose that next time in like 30 whatever, when they're supposed to bring it back?

Scott Riley [00:05:33]:

39.

Jeff Prosser [00:05:33]:

There's 39. Well, it's a long way, but it'll be here, won't it?

Matt Every [00:05:36]:

Yeah. I think the whole play to the angles thing have you played that golf course? No.

Scott Riley [00:05:43]:

They trumped up that course big time. I mean, they were trying to make that course, the star, and then they went out and absolutely.

Jeff Prosser [00:05:49]:

You tell me this, Maddie. It seems OD to me that the same golf tournament can yield two sixty two S and a sixty three.

Matt Every [00:05:57]:

It almost feels like it shouldn't count.

Jeff Prosser [00:05:59]:

But at the same time, you can make an eight on a par four. Those things don't seem like they should mix. That seems kind of tricks everywhere. It does matter where.

Matt Every [00:06:09]:

Yeah.

Jeff Prosser [00:06:09]:

Dustin Johnson is making a lot of eights.

Matt Every [00:06:10]:

Is he?

Jeff Prosser [00:06:11]:

Last time that dude made an eight.

Matt Every [00:06:13]:

On a par four, honestly, remember the US. Open at Pebble Beach when he done that big lead and made her final round? That one went lefty on the chip on the second hole.

Jeff Prosser [00:06:25]:

Yeah. Was the second one where he blew it out of bounds to the right?

Matt Every [00:06:28]:

I don't know, but that was right by the green. He tried to go lefty.

Jeff Prosser [00:06:31]:

Dustin makes some sweet tea. Dumb decisions through the course of the years, doesn't he?

Matt Every [00:06:36]:

That's part of the deal, man.

Jeff Prosser [00:06:39]:

Let's just ground the club in the bunker.

Matt Every [00:06:42]:

That was a raw deal there. I guess I couldn't believe how he handled he handled that so well.

Scott Riley [00:06:48]:

That might have been the same year he lost it. He came back just a month later.

Jeff Prosser [00:06:53]:

Was it the same deal? It was close to it. If it wasn't that year, it was what a resilient player within a year. That Whistling Straits has come a long way since then. They just kind of opened the top on it that year, and it seems like there's something there all the time now.

Matt Every [00:07:06]:

Yeah.

Jeff Prosser [00:07:06]:

You all done that. Have you done that trip?

Scott Riley [00:07:08]:

I have not.

Jeff Prosser [00:07:09]:

Yeah, that's one you need to do.

Matt Every [00:07:10]:

I played in the PGA.

Jeff Prosser [00:07:11]:

Yeah. Dustin, I'm more from, like, a golf trip standpoint. Go up. You play whistling and Irish and the Two Black Wolf runs and free pub.

Matt Every [00:07:18]:

I think I would go to the.

Jeff Prosser [00:07:21]:

Upper Peninsula before we did that one year, too.

Matt Every [00:07:23]:

How was that?

Jeff Prosser [00:07:24]:

Fun.

Matt Every [00:07:24]:

I haven't been there, but, like, Arcadia.

Jeff Prosser [00:07:26]:

Blogs and Grand Traverse and those. It was awesome. Yeah.

Scott Riley [00:07:28]:

Big golf trip. Guy.

Jeff Prosser [00:07:30]:

Love a golf trip, man.

Scott Riley [00:07:31]:

Line these up.

Matt Every [00:07:31]:

How many you get a year? Over under one and a half.

Jeff Prosser [00:07:37]:

That's a good number. Yeah. You could go out to Vegas and set the college football line. Yeah, that's a good number. That's going to hit under some years and over some years now. I'll tell you what's disappeared. The ones that I just referenced we did with a big group with Baselli and some other friends. And so we take 1216 guys, and we did Pinehurst. We did whistling. We did traverse and Arcadia. We did some high stature places, and that thing has kind of died off. So now I'm more back in the just do a quick two day, three round kind of stream song or something around.

Matt Every [00:08:12]:

You do pinehurst. It's close.

Jeff Prosser [00:08:14]:

You could do pinehurst. Yeah, I got a budy up there now. And we did do Pinehurst, and we played more of the Surround pine needles and some of the other ones, even more than the Pinehurst courses.

Matt Every [00:08:23]:

That's where the Open is next year. Pinehurst.

Jeff Prosser [00:08:25]:

I think two is the championship course. Right? I think it was closed when we were there.

Scott Riley [00:08:29]:

Oh, that's a bummer.

Jeff Prosser [00:08:30]:

They played, like, eight. I don't know. I don't know the specifics of the.

Matt Every [00:08:34]:

I got to qualify for that one. It'll be my third US. Open at Pinehurst if I make it for next year.

Jeff Prosser [00:08:39]:

Yeah. How much golf are you playing?

Matt Every [00:08:42]:

Well, dude, I did, like, a month straight of TV.

Jeff Prosser [00:08:44]:

I understand that.

Matt Every [00:08:45]:

And then now I'm playing. I've been practicing the last couple of days. I might get in the are we practice practicing?

Jeff Prosser [00:08:53]:

Like practice practicing?

Matt Every [00:08:55]:

Yeah, bro.

Jeff Prosser [00:08:55]:

Like grind practicing.

Matt Every [00:08:56]:

I'm grinding good.

Jeff Prosser [00:08:57]:

I like it. I like to hear it. Worry about you sometimes.

Matt Every [00:09:00]:

Grinding on a lot of things. Yeah, my body. I'm trying to just I want to.

Jeff Prosser [00:09:04]:

Like you look terrific. I mean, the hair is just it's world class hair. It is, you know, genetics. You know, it genetics. What was your background growing up? Country club kid.

Matt Every [00:09:17]:

My best friend's dad both my dad worked construction. My mom was a secretary.

Jeff Prosser [00:09:23]:

My favorite kind of PGA golfer here, right. I hate to say this, right? Because I love golf. I love watching golf. I love every level of golf. Some of my best friends are members of the best country clubs around town. But this narrative that has emerged over the last year of these poor oppressed golfers we got kids who we got guys on tour who the biggest impediment in their life was when the Dr. Pepper machine was out in the pro shop, right? And so to come to this ground swell, right? Riding around the Southeast and Escalades with the $1,000 clubs playing inning every tournament you want to play. If you make a million dollars a year playing golf, kiss the ground you walk on, friend.

Matt Every [00:10:06]:

I totally hear what you're saying. John Rom has actually had a good response to this with the whole live thing. He's like, Look, I live a very privileged life.

Jeff Prosser [00:10:17]:

Sure.

Matt Every [00:10:17]:

Like, who am I to sit here and complain about this? And that was really nice to hear.

Jeff Prosser [00:10:24]:

Don't get me. I love country club golf. I love a lot of my great friends. Some of my best friends are country club members. I think even they would say, let's back off a little bit of this oppression that these golfers are facing, right?

Matt Every [00:10:39]:

Yeah, I agree.

Jeff Prosser [00:10:40]:

Where's this all going to land, man?

Matt Every [00:10:42]:

Who knows, man? I don't think anyone knows anything still. I know there was a player meeting yesterday, but it's kind of hard when.

Jeff Prosser [00:10:48]:

The boss isn't there for the player meeting.

Matt Every [00:10:50]:

Yeah. The recent player meeting, what's going on with that either?

Jeff Prosser [00:10:55]:

And I'm not getting any answers there, so I don't either.

Matt Every [00:10:57]:

Yeah. Getting back to your silver spoon, you asked about my background.

Jeff Prosser [00:11:03]:

See, I can appreciate those guys.

Matt Every [00:11:06]:

I think you'd be surprised.

Jeff Prosser [00:11:07]:

There's more of you.

Matt Every [00:11:08]:

Yes. There's something to I always tell people, you never really find a Tour player raised in Palm that grew up in Palm Springs.

Jeff Prosser [00:11:17]:

Yeah.

Scott Riley [00:11:17]:

I need that grit.

Matt Every [00:11:19]:

I'll never forget moving here out of college. That was pretty good. And I go to TPC to practice, and these Cart guys were my buddies, and they would be like, oh, this kid here, he's so sick. He's 13 and he's playing in this. And I'm like, does he practice here? And he's like, yeah, his dad's a member. Like, that kid's got no fucking chance.

Jeff Prosser [00:11:38]:

Well, the kid's hitting Pro V's at 13.

Matt Every [00:11:42]:

There's no hunger there.

Jeff Prosser [00:11:45]:

In my mind, that's 80% of the Tour. And you're telling me that's not inaccurate? It doesn't help. And I got to see little Jordan and Justin eating a hot dog together.

Matt Every [00:11:56]:

That's different.

Jeff Prosser [00:11:56]:

Right.

Matt Every [00:11:57]:

I hear you.

Jeff Prosser [00:11:59]:

That's a harder sell on that there's.

Matt Every [00:12:01]:

Guys like Justin.

Jeff Prosser [00:12:02]:

I mean, your man Mickelson, in 2021 made $106,000,000 in compensation, the 7th highest paid athlete in the world. So I can see why you need to go turn it over to a foreign entity. I can understand how times may have been tight. I mean, that's a hard one to buy, man.

Scott Riley [00:12:19]:

That's a big tax bill, too.

Matt Every [00:12:20]:

Gosh, I don't know how it's going to shake out with the guys that want the whole equity thing now. Did Jay stick his foot in his mouth saying that.

Jeff Prosser [00:12:33]:

I love watching golf too much? I really don't give a that's where.

Matt Every [00:12:37]:

I hope it all shakes out.

Jeff Prosser [00:12:38]:

That's where I am. But I know I got friends that that's not where they are.

Matt Every [00:12:42]:

I've heard the same.

Jeff Prosser [00:12:43]:

It's a turn off at some point, all this, no matter which side you fall on.

Matt Every [00:12:47]:

Yeah.

Jeff Prosser [00:12:48]:

And I think more than and to my point, I think I get more frustrated with the vocal live supporters than I do the actual live golfers, because those are the ones that I feel are trying to hit you with this narrative of how oppressed they were on the PGA Tour and just how that.

Scott Riley [00:13:07]:

Went out the window pretty quick. That was the marching orders. Felt like they got handed sheet of paper talking about spending more time with.

Jeff Prosser [00:13:15]:

Their family and growing the game of golf.

Scott Riley [00:13:17]:

No, we're growing bank account and playing less golf, making more money. That was a bad look right out of the gate.

Matt Every [00:13:25]:

I feel like that got squashed.

Jeff Prosser [00:13:27]:

They got the right guys, though, because there really is don't give an F.

Scott Riley [00:13:30]:

You had the right guys that were.

Jeff Prosser [00:13:32]:

Staying quiet, feeling there with those guys, right?

Matt Every [00:13:34]:

Yeah.

Scott Riley [00:13:35]:

The DJs of the world. I mean, Cam Smith, they weren't getting on the mic and about all that.

Jeff Prosser [00:13:41]:

Smart.

Matt Every [00:13:41]:

Yeah. Smart moves on both of their ends.

Jeff Prosser [00:13:44]:

Yeah. And Varner to take the honest approach. I'll never get this kind of money. This is life changing for me.

Matt Every [00:13:50]:

Yeah. And you can take him serious.

Jeff Prosser [00:13:53]:

That's fine. Sure.

Scott Riley [00:13:55]:

It's like, who is it? Jason Jambi, who admitted to doing steroids. And everybody was like, thank God for saying, okay.

Matt Every [00:14:02]:

You're good? Yeah.

Jeff Prosser [00:14:03]:

All right.

Scott Riley [00:14:05]:

Just don't lie to me.

Matt Every [00:14:08]:

Let's shift to local a little bit.

Jeff Prosser [00:14:10]:

Okay.

Matt Every [00:14:11]:

Jacksonville Jaguars.

Jeff Prosser [00:14:12]:

Yeah.

Matt Every [00:14:13]:

Are we going to get this stadium done championship?

Jeff Prosser [00:14:16]:

I think so.

Matt Every [00:14:17]:

Yeah.

Scott Riley [00:14:19]:

Look, man, timing is everything. We're lucky enough to have what we have right now as far as the organization. The stadium is going to have to get redone at some point, and it sucks to have it happen right now when we've got what feels like about to be a peaking team.

Jeff Prosser [00:14:36]:

But by the same token, it's a lot easier. Sell to ascertain the long term future and sell a local community on the public part of financing it. If you're winning short term, go sell the taxpayers on giving up a billion dollars. If you're coming off at two and 15, good luck with that. So that part will help. I think that your fan base gets big enough and it's enthusiastic enough that having to drive to Gainesville, Orlando, or wherever it might be six, eight times a year could be fun.

Matt Every [00:15:15]:

I would if they did it in Gainesville, dude.

Jeff Prosser [00:15:17]:

Sure.

Matt Every [00:15:18]:

I mean, there'd be some weekends.

Jeff Prosser [00:15:19]:

What are you being a Daytona guy?

Matt Every [00:15:22]:

I don't know. That's going to work out. It would be cool to see, like, one game played there. I don't know how that's going to work out with the crap. I mean, you're so far away from the action.

Jeff Prosser [00:15:30]:

I think what they're going to do, though, is they'll push the field up to the track on one side so that the stands there, you're probably not a whole lot further than you are, but then you're going to have to.

Scott Riley [00:15:39]:

Build stuff you can only view on one side.

Jeff Prosser [00:15:41]:

No, I think they'll build temporary on the other.

Matt Every [00:15:43]:

What do you think they're going to ultimately do?

Jeff Prosser [00:15:45]:

I'd say Gainesville, Orlando, like 99%. It'll be one of those two.

Matt Every [00:15:50]:

I would be very disappointed if it was Orlando.

Jeff Prosser [00:15:53]:

For me, it's just because of middle finger you. Orlando. You guys have made fun of us and joked about it. All of a sudden you want them for a couple of years.

Matt Every [00:16:00]:

Place is the worst.

Jeff Prosser [00:16:02]:

Not a big Orlando fan myself.

Scott Riley [00:16:03]:

What about more games in London?

Jeff Prosser [00:16:05]:

I don't think they will play more for the league.

Scott Riley [00:16:07]:

They don't want to have to travel to see the Jaguars that many times.

Jeff Prosser [00:16:10]:

I think that if you are taking away a good team and you're trying to sell them on supporting a new stadium, I don't think you're going to take games that are an hour drive away and put them in London. I don't think they'll ever play two home games there. But to your point, it's a unique situation, so maybe they would. They're staying there two weeks this year, but one's a road game, so that doesn't count.

Scott Riley [00:16:33]:

I used to hate it and now I kind of see it. I like that the Jaguars have this root in another country, and it couldn't be a more fitting country than England with the Jaguars.

Jeff Prosser [00:16:48]:

Personally, I did get in that 930 game once a year. I like that, too.

Scott Riley [00:16:53]:

Have you done one of those trips?

Jeff Prosser [00:16:54]:

I have not done the London trip. I've turned it down once and I'm not have you been golf trip?

Scott Riley [00:16:58]:

Let's just do a guy's trip now.

Jeff Prosser [00:17:00]:

I would definitely throw something like that. How fun. Golf and a little Jackson. Yeah, that'd be awesome.

Matt Every [00:17:06]:

Is this the most excited you've been going into a Jack season?

Jeff Prosser [00:17:10]:

I've been here since I know, your very first season.

Scott Riley [00:17:14]:

99.

Jeff Prosser [00:17:15]:

Yeah. Coming off of that 99 year where you were so close. Although I will say this, that season ended so disappointedly that your excitement for 2000, I'd say, does not match the excitement now because for now, the Jacks have been so bad. And by the way, they're here. They are going to be good. They're the Bingles bills. They're those teams, the Ravens, they've got a great quarterback. They've got a good coach. They're going to be good for years. I mean, 810, twelve years. We're going to have a nice run here. So I think that also pads the excitement because you're not just thinking about the excitement of this year. You can almost think about the excitement of the Trevor era.

Matt Every [00:17:50]:

Really, that's what I'm most excited about is my kid gets to grow. Like with Trevor Lawrence. Imagine growing up into it. I'm not comparing Trevor to Tom Brady. It's a bad comparison. But imagine being a kid eight to ten years old and you get to have that run with Tom Brady and he's like, your guy. That's bad ass. And I'm not saying Trevor's going to.

Jeff Prosser [00:18:14]:

Do that, but imagine this city if.

Matt Every [00:18:16]:

They want to see it'd, be pretty freaking.

Jeff Prosser [00:18:18]:

Could you imagine?

Scott Riley [00:18:19]:

I'm equally as excited about Doug Peterson and Trevor Lawrence.

Jeff Prosser [00:18:22]:

He was obviously the perfect guy for this team.

Matt Every [00:18:26]:

I don't know if we lucked into hiring him or just how that worked out because it was kind of a weird process. Thank God for, wow, did that work out for us?

Jeff Prosser [00:18:35]:

Well, especially considering, like, names you heard, rumors may have been either offered or to accept the job. Well, there's two of them. And then Hackett now was close. Look at that shit show that happened out in Denver, right?

Matt Every [00:18:48]:

Doug Pearson's. Good golfer.

Jeff Prosser [00:18:50]:

Yeah, I believe that. He looks like it, too. He looks like he don't give a care about much of anything, man. Just throw that flip flops and visor on making around town. Have you played with him? No, just seen him.

Matt Every [00:19:02]:

I was playing with Jamie Lovemark somewhere and we got to talking and he goes, yeah, I was in your neighborhood the other day and I was like, what are you doing there? And he goes, I'm good friends with Doug Peterson.

Jeff Prosser [00:19:15]:

Okay. What?

Matt Every [00:19:16]:

I stayed with him. He goes, yeah, Doug's a really good golfer. He shoots right around par, maybe a couple over.

Jeff Prosser [00:19:23]:

He's a big guy, man. You lose sight of how big some of these coaches are because the players they're surrounded with on the sideline. But if you go up to Doug Peterson or his quarterback coach, Mike McCoy, these are big dudes, man. But here's the thing with Peterson last year, though, in addition to the play calls and pushing the right buttons, schematically football theory, all that, we've never had a better year of a coach being a sports psychologist than that guy. I mean, you want to talk about building trust in your team. Every time he told them something was going to happen, it happened. And he put himself out there for some ridicule. Look, they went on the road and lost to Detroit and fell to like three and five, soon to be three and six. And they got just reamed. They weren't even competitive. And he went in front of his team and then in front of the media and said, this is a one off, I'm not worried about it. It's pretty bold being two or three or four games under 500 and convincing your team first, and then it proves right, I mean, that's going to have recipe. And he did this all year long. He took these guys at four and seven and said, do this, this and this, and we'll be playing for the playoffs at the end of the year. And sure enough, they did this, that and this and they did.

Scott Riley [00:20:51]:

Oh, they had to feel so good calling it. He's built a culture that people are excited to go to work and I don't think we've had that. Even when Coughlin was here, players were complaining, different mentality, having to be there 15 minutes early. And it has great vibes.

Jeff Prosser [00:21:08]:

I'll give you something else that can keep a coach a lot more friendly is the rules of engagement in the NFL have changed. Tom Coughlin couldn't be popular. He'd put them through three days if he could. Those dudes were out in the sun popping pads, full pads, twice a day for weeks. Now. They can't do that. There weren't a whole lot of beloved coaches back then because they busted your ass for the hottest month of the year.

Scott Riley [00:21:32]:

Then you learned to love them after your play.

Jeff Prosser [00:21:34]:

Correct 100% right. But these guys today get a benefit of not even if it were in their nature to run them into the ground. They can't, because NFL rules don't let them anymore.

Scott Riley [00:21:43]:

Well, the successful team is listening to y'all show pretty much every single day. Y'all's conversation has really shifted towards NFL away from college. It used to be just Florida, florida State, and now it's Jaguars content, and it's PGA Live. And frankly, that's all I want to hear.

Matt Every [00:22:02]:

Well, that's you reading your audience. I mean, that's what this town is for sure. Soft town of football town for sure.

Jeff Prosser [00:22:07]:

And college football, there's been a couple.

Matt Every [00:22:10]:

College football has just sucked lately.

Jeff Prosser [00:22:13]:

The product FSU went dormant. Right. They may come back. They might be set up for a good year this year. Florida has been just ass awful the last two years.

Scott Riley [00:22:22]:

Hasn't it been too tough to follow? Like you can't build a relationship with a player because he might be gone the next year.

Jeff Prosser [00:22:28]:

It's definitely who's your favorite guy?

Scott Riley [00:22:30]:

Well, Jalen Hurts went to Alabama, then Oklahoma, and there's maybe a bad example, but just the nil, the transfer portal, it has made the game just hard to follow.

Jeff Prosser [00:22:43]:

Well, and that's across all college. I was thinking we were talking today about an event that hardly anyone cares about anymore the NBA draft. But you used to get at least a little bit excited for the NBA draft because you know what? Michael Jordan went to college for three or four years. Magic Johnson went to college for three or four years. Larry Bird went to college for four years. Danny Manning went to college. Christie later went to college. By the time these guys hit the draft, you knew who they were. Right. They were a known product. Look at the projected top ten in the draft tonight. I have at best, it's a cat that maybe played in a coffer. You followed and was there one? Brandon Miller from Alabama. Played one year. The rest of they're either European shooter. Yeah, they're either European or the G League. And it's kind of hard to get fired up for a bunch of the unknown.

Matt Every [00:23:32]:

I'd agree with that.

Jeff Prosser [00:23:33]:

But again, you want to kill a podcast, bring up the NBA draft.

Matt Every [00:23:37]:

Yeah.

Scott Riley [00:23:38]:

All right.

Matt Every [00:23:39]:

I have a question for you. How do you bring the energy every single day? You've been doing this a long time, dude.

Jeff Prosser [00:23:48]:

Other than the meth.

Matt Every [00:23:49]:

Yeah, other than that, very important.

Jeff Prosser [00:23:53]:

I switched from heroin to meth years ago.

Matt Every [00:23:56]:

You're on air at 06:00 A.m. Every morning for basically your adult life.

Scott Riley [00:24:00]:

Feet on the ground, four in the morning.

Jeff Prosser [00:24:02]:

I get up probably about three, three. I can't hardly sleep past it much. Probably 3330. I guess I get up and go and just start my not. That sounds a million miles different from a dude that gets up at 637, but it's really not.

Scott Riley [00:24:16]:

High motor guy.

Jeff Prosser [00:24:17]:

Well, my kids are grown and gone now, too, so that makes a lot easier. It's a lot easier now than it was juggling Matt. You guys both know that you got kids and all that. That entails. Imagine doing a 06:00 show and you got two fifth graders and a fourth grader in the house. So it kind of changes the dynamics of what you could do. I didn't have the luck back in the day. Can remember not that long ago I'd sleep till 525, throw a hat on and out the door. Now I'm up at 3330. I'm watching stuff, drinking coffee, my brain's working.

Matt Every [00:24:43]:

Is that what hicken does every day? Probably 636, 30, then throws a hat and goes probably close.

Jeff Prosser [00:24:48]:

Probably close. That hair doesn't move, so he doesn't need a hat. That guy could sleep in quicksand and his hair would look the same when he popped out of it. But a lot of caffeine in the morning. A big coffee drinker there's that you.

Matt Every [00:25:01]:

Love it though, too.

Jeff Prosser [00:25:02]:

I love it 100%. I mean, are you kidding me? Get paid to do what we do, talk sports. I mean, it's like basically I get to get up in the morning, hang out with a good budy, talk sports for 4 hours and then go on your way, right? I mean, that's what most people do for fun in the bar, at the club or wherever when they get off of work.

Matt Every [00:25:20]:

Yeah.

Jeff Prosser [00:25:20]:

And so to have that, I'm not picking to the platform or the message. I'm just into doing what we do for the hang. I'm in for the hang.

Scott Riley [00:25:33]:

Takes in a hang.

Jeff Prosser [00:25:34]:

We're competitive like anyone else. You like to do something that people enjoy and certainly you get a lot of validation is probably not the right word, but yeah, there's a lot of pleasure that comes from people enjoying what you do. So we try to bring that attitude to it. Since we started doing sports radio probably 20 years ago now, we've been at 1010 for maybe 16. Who's your favorite.

Matt Every [00:25:56]:

This is going to only hit the locals, but who's your favorite call in guest like over the years? That is a regular that calls in.

Jeff Prosser [00:26:04]:

What has happened to Matt every no.

Scott Riley [00:26:09]:

It'S clearly Joe.

Matt Every [00:26:11]:

You tell me. It's Joe.

Jeff Prosser [00:26:12]:

You I think it back and forth 100%.

Matt Every [00:26:17]:

Get him out of here.

Scott Riley [00:26:17]:

Hang up.

Jeff Prosser [00:26:18]:

Joe would be, listen, here's what has happened to the show and when. We first started sports, it was 90s sports radio. Okay, bill from the Beaches joints. Bill, what do you think about the Gators quarterback change? And then the idea which first comes from managers like, hey, guys, man, I'm not trying to fluff you here, but nobody's calling in to cares what Joe at the Beaches thinks. They're listening to the show because they want to know what you guys think. Well, that's not how we interpret what we're doing. Right.

Matt Every [00:26:47]:

Yeah.

Jeff Prosser [00:26:48]:

And so what has happened the point of bringing that up is what has happened is we kind of went away from taking generic calls. Now, if there's, like, a percolating issue right. There's something then we'll have a day where we do that. So what has happened now is regular calls for the show aren't really regular callers anymore. They're characters. A character. Mr. Tennessee is a character. Oxgator is a character. Skinny bastard is a character. Right. So there's probably a rushmore and probably any three of those four could rotate at one time. But I appreciate Joe for this. We can go at it almost like hicken. And I can at times and it can get loud and it could sound hateful, and then it's the next no big deal.

Matt Every [00:27:30]:

Not even it's fine, right?

Jeff Prosser [00:27:32]:

Cat's, another one. Those two to me, should be are like kindred spirits. The old Jackson devil. Cat and Joe You equally just asinine in what they say half the time.

Matt Every [00:27:40]:

So, Joe, you is this huge Miami Hurricanes fan?

Jeff Prosser [00:27:43]:

Yes. Didn't go to the U, by the way.

Matt Every [00:27:45]:

Obnoxious from New Orleans. The Hurricanes in town, they get left out a little bit. You got the Seminoles for sures.

Jeff Prosser [00:27:51]:

And the Jags in Georgia now too.

Matt Every [00:27:53]:

Yeah, exactly.

Jeff Prosser [00:27:55]:

Those jokers have come out of the woodwork. I thought they all moved away. I mean, it's been 20 years.

Matt Every [00:28:00]:

Joey's. Also a huge Ricky Fowler fan.

Jeff Prosser [00:28:03]:

Oh, man.

Matt Every [00:28:03]:

He dresses up like him when he plays golf.

Scott Riley [00:28:06]:

I've seen it.

Jeff Prosser [00:28:07]:

I got sent the picture this weekend. And then, by the way, so he sends out a group text to basically that murderer's row that we just brought up. And he's more Ricky Fowler than Ricky Fowler was on Sunday.

Matt Every [00:28:17]:

That was always my favorite at events, is seeing grown adults in the full on Sunday ricky outfit when he was younger.

Jeff Prosser [00:28:26]:

Were you on block fever? Did that run old with you pretty quick? Did you embrace it?

Matt Every [00:28:35]:

Yeah, sniffed it out.

Jeff Prosser [00:28:36]:

This has probably been already this been dealt with here on the pod, maybe.

Matt Every [00:28:39]:

I mean, what are we removed from it? About a month. I'm over it to me, dude.

Scott Riley [00:28:46]:

Hell of a story.

Matt Every [00:28:47]:

Biggest story is he's not a regular on tour and he was 46 years old. That's impressive. If this was a 26 year old that was a club, it'd be impressive. This guy's 46.

Jeff Prosser [00:29:00]:

Yeah.

Matt Every [00:29:00]:

That is very impressive. What he did, however, on a man however, golf course, though, he has also played about 25 Tour events. This wasn't his first rodeo. It's a badass story. It was a badass week, but I don't think it's like you can make a move.

Jeff Prosser [00:29:19]:

I feel like if the PGA were a member guest, then they would be revolting against whoever Michael Block's member partner was. I feel like he went and just careered it to a level that he could play.

Matt Every [00:29:32]:

Definitely dialed in that way.

Jeff Prosser [00:29:33]:

That's unbelievable, because I've seen him do other things here and there, including play an event. I mean, we all watched what he did. Was it Colonial the next week?

Scott Riley [00:29:40]:

Yeah, it's like a regular guy.

Jeff Prosser [00:29:43]:

Just yeah. No chance of making the cut. Seen him some other places, too. He does not look like he have.

Matt Every [00:29:50]:

More starts lined up.

Scott Riley [00:29:51]:

I do think he gets a couple more.

Jeff Prosser [00:29:53]:

He's trying to qualify for the British sponsors invites.

Scott Riley [00:29:56]:

I mean, he got canes on his shoulder.

Jeff Prosser [00:29:59]:

Yeah, I saw that, too.

Scott Riley [00:30:01]:

So quick to cash in.

Jeff Prosser [00:30:02]:

I loved it. The Week of and then I start to feel like he also loved it the Week of and continues to love it. It kind of tamps down the Cinderella story when the hole in one, though. Holy that's unbelievable, isn't it?

Scott Riley [00:30:18]:

It was almost too much. It was like, okay, this is get out of here.

Jeff Prosser [00:30:21]:

That's crazy.

Matt Every [00:30:22]:

Up and down on the last was yeah.

Jeff Prosser [00:30:25]:

To get the invite back again next year. Right.

Matt Every [00:30:28]:

That's that's not happening. The whole the whole that's not happening. That up and down on the last was ridiculous.

Jeff Prosser [00:30:33]:

You'll go in the hall, stupid good.

Matt Every [00:30:35]:

It was, like, 20ft. He was blind, shot below the surface, sketch lie, all the shit on the line.

Scott Riley [00:30:41]:

Was there any doubt he was missing that putt?

Jeff Prosser [00:30:44]:

No, it probably had an idea that he needed to get up and down to get that right. By that point, he's relatively late in the tournament, so he probably had an idea.

Matt Every [00:30:54]:

I know he got set up a little bit by the question as well, but that podcast he did with Kurt.

Scott Riley [00:31:02]:

It was like my dad says, that, man, if I had a driving game.

Jeff Prosser [00:31:07]:

If I were six guys, I would have played in the NB.

Matt Every [00:31:10]:

If I played courses like they do, I'd shoot those scores.

Jeff Prosser [00:31:13]:

Sure.

Matt Every [00:31:14]:

I think everyone played those conditions.

Jeff Prosser [00:31:16]:

Yeah, everyone's guilty of that.

Scott Riley [00:31:17]:

He's still riding that high, though. Good for him.

Jeff Prosser [00:31:20]:

Absolutely. It was easy to root for.

Matt Every [00:31:24]:

I was rooting for.

Jeff Prosser [00:31:25]:

If people have started to go cynical on him, that's fine, but I didn't appreciate some of the cynical that came right there that weekend, because, you know, people jump quick. Right. Social media is an awful place. It doesn't take long for him to gravitate to. What wasn't the story? The story was that Cinderella okay, before.

Matt Every [00:31:41]:

We get you out of here, this is going to air in a week.

Jeff Prosser [00:31:44]:

Okay.

Matt Every [00:31:44]:

Prediction time.

Jeff Prosser [00:31:45]:

All right?

Matt Every [00:31:46]:

Because we're going to know the answer when it airs.

Jeff Prosser [00:31:48]:

Okay, nice.

Matt Every [00:31:49]:

What's going to happen?

Jeff Prosser [00:31:49]:

How good I am.

Matt Every [00:31:50]:

What's going to happen to the people on the submarine?

Jeff Prosser [00:31:55]:

It's like a morbid twist. Yeah.

Matt Every [00:31:58]:

We're still looking for them.

Jeff Prosser [00:32:00]:

Here is the reality. The reality is from what we've kind.

Matt Every [00:32:04]:

Of did you hear they heard banging noises stop.

Jeff Prosser [00:32:07]:

Yes.

Matt Every [00:32:08]:

From an airplane.

Jeff Prosser [00:32:09]:

Yeah, but did you also hear this?

Scott Riley [00:32:12]:

Like an echo.

Jeff Prosser [00:32:12]:

There's only like twelve submersive vessels in the world capable of diving to that depth and none of them are in the North Atlantic.

Matt Every [00:32:21]:

Oh, really?

Jeff Prosser [00:32:22]:

Which means they can forever get well, there is no forever. The air runs out in about 12 hours as we sit here. And so even if they could pinpoint exactly where they were, they can't get them.

Matt Every [00:32:33]:

Even if they're Bobing on top of the sea right now. They're bolted in.

Jeff Prosser [00:32:37]:

Well, but if they were bobbing on top of this, I looked at this. It's attached to this huge weight. That's what gets them down. And supposedly if something happens, they should be able to disengage from that huge weighted base and then they would float back up naturally. And that hasn't happened either. I say the UFO got him. I mean, I'm not even kidding. Right?

Matt Every [00:32:59]:

See that Las Vegas family where the.

Jeff Prosser [00:33:02]:

Ten foot guy out of the yard.

Scott Riley [00:33:04]:

Where they didn't have a cell phone. Come on. This day and age. Come on. Why isn't Dale Murphy in the hall of Fame?

Jeff Prosser [00:33:13]:

Oh, man, you were trying to get me mad. I really honestly, we got a lot this isn't Braves fandom speaking on this. I would say the same thing. I'll give you another one. Roger Maris should be in the hall of Fame. Why isn't what is one of the three words in the hall of Fame? I know hall of Fame matters and I'm not saying you should get in because you have one singular if your.

Scott Riley [00:33:35]:

Mom knows who the guy is.

Jeff Prosser [00:33:37]:

Roger Maris. It was also, I want to say back to back MVP. My point with Murphy is Murphy was back. He was back to back MVP. He was the second most prolific hitter of the entire decade of the 80s behind Mike Schmidt. End of story. There is no argument. I am amazed that his hall of Fame candidacy never you know who had.

Scott Riley [00:33:58]:

The most never got in the isn't in the hall of Fame? Mark Grace.

Matt Every [00:34:02]:

Oh, wow.

Scott Riley [00:34:03]:

Gracie in.

Jeff Prosser [00:34:04]:

Yeah, that's a good one, too. There's a lot kurt Shillings should be in the hall of Fame. That's a no brainer. Agreed. Agreed.

Scott Riley [00:34:12]:

So we were talking about this the other day. Like who puts these guys in the hall of Fame?

Jeff Prosser [00:34:16]:

Yes. The baseball writers.

Matt Every [00:34:17]:

I know that correct. But should they be the ones voting?

Jeff Prosser [00:34:21]:

I would not be because don't they.

Matt Every [00:34:23]:

Have their whole career? Some of them come to have an agenda, a market agenda.

Jeff Prosser [00:34:27]:

They say they have an agenda. I don't know where you guys land on this. And I think there should be some sort of statute of limitations on guys who break the rules. If you can reasonably determine that if they hadn't broke the rules, they would still be great.

Matt Every [00:34:42]:

You're talking about like, Barry Bonds?

Jeff Prosser [00:34:43]:

I'm talking about Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens and Pete Rose. If you're telling me in the sport of baseball that those aren't hall of Famers, right? I'm telling you your hall of Fame.

Matt Every [00:34:51]:

Is yeah, your hall of Fame sucks.

Jeff Prosser [00:34:53]:

It may not suck, but he rose.

Matt Every [00:34:55]:

Is a hall of Famer.

Jeff Prosser [00:34:56]:

And I get it. I get that those guys betrayed the game to a certain degree, but there ought to be a limitation, right? I mean, that shouldn't be a life sentence. You want to do them ten years just to show them or whatever. But Roger Clement, I think, won seven. Sigh youngs Barry bob Rose had a.

Matt Every [00:35:12]:

Scarlet letter on him.

Jeff Prosser [00:35:14]:

Now, his is worse than the steroids to me because he bet on his Dagum team on it. Yeah, but it's a manager even still.

Scott Riley [00:35:20]:

I guess he was a player manager on it.

Jeff Prosser [00:35:23]:

I'll say this not against listen to me. I'll sit at a table with you, okay? If you believe that Pete Rose admits that he bet on the Reds and it's quote, only on the Reds. You're smarter than that. Come on. I don't know how to go back and watch. You know what Degenerates? I would have to go back and.

Matt Every [00:35:47]:

Watch the tape if Charlie Hussle wasn't Hustling.

Jeff Prosser [00:35:51]:

What kind of gamblers are degenerates when things go bad and they can control the outcome? They're going to do it even if they can convince themselves or because they convince themselves that it doesn't matter what.

Scott Riley [00:36:03]:

Kind of bookie is taking a bet from Pete Rose?

Jeff Prosser [00:36:05]:

No, he had that. No, he had his Flucky. Remember? Like his roommate dude would do it, too. I forgot. What was that dude's name?

Scott Riley [00:36:11]:

Reap Pose.

Jeff Prosser [00:36:12]:

Remember the guy, the big guy, the mullet and the hair. Pete rose is a trip. I met Pete. Pete Rose was in town in Jacksonville many years ago, sign an autograph for the Hit King Pete. Remember the hit King Pizza? Anybody ever get a slice of that?

Matt Every [00:36:27]:

I do remember what you're talking about.

Jeff Prosser [00:36:29]:

Yeah, he put out some frozen pizza, hit King Pizza, and he came into town and it was Pete Rose, just as you might imagine it would be if you met Pete Rose. Love that tolerable not incredibly personable, not over the top behold either.

Matt Every [00:36:42]:

Sat there and probably asked him a question. Sure he'd answer.

Jeff Prosser [00:36:44]:

He would.

Matt Every [00:36:45]:

Yeah.

Jeff Prosser [00:36:45]:

I also met back in the day, and it was a miserable experience. He was just a tired, old, just about dead, mean spirited alcoholic was Mickey Mao, really. Which really hurt because Mickey Mail mickey Mail is like my dad's Trevor Lawrence or whoever that was his hero growing up, and he couldn't now, again, it was late in life. He was here for something down on the South Bank. But I remember sitting down and going that was Mickey Mannell, right? Just gruff, one of those.

Scott Riley [00:37:14]:

You don't want to meet your hero.

Jeff Prosser [00:37:15]:

I'll give you another good one. I was doing work for Comcast when they used to have Comcast Sports Southeast. And I did all sports. I would do Gator or Jaguar, other stuff. Well, they had something come up where they did not have their they also did entertainment type stuff and they didn't have it. And they said Sports Guy could probably do this. So they call me up and they say, hey, can we fly you to Hollywood to do the movie junket for Blades of Glory? Right? Yeah, a junket, yeah. You do the whole like went to the premiere and the red carpet, I think that's what they called it. So anyway, yeah, so I do had.

Matt Every [00:37:50]:

Agreed to do it was this this.

Jeff Prosser [00:37:52]:

Was probably like eleven 2011, 2010, probably something like that. Mid ought something like that. I go ten if I had to guess. So they fly me out there. You stay in the Beverly Hill. Wilton shire, whatever it is. Yeah. You're in the top hotel. We went to the premiere the night before, and then the next day they had it set up where you go back to the hotel and they got a whole floor mapped off. And then they got all the stars in different rooms and you just kind of go down the line. And you film these interviews with these actors and they were all terrific. I mean, Will Ferrell and what's the name of that? Napoleon dine of will hater. John Hater. They were both great. Pam from the office. Jenna Fisher was in that movie. She was terrific. Amy Poehler and Will Arnett were still married and did them together. Couldn't be nicer. Your boy, is that his? I may be the anchor man. No, the guy the coach. What's Coach's name from the TV show? Coach?

Matt Every [00:39:00]:

Yeah.

Jeff Prosser [00:39:02]:

Craig T. Nelson. There is not a bigger asshole in the world than Craig T. Nelson.

Matt Every [00:39:07]:

Okay. Did he stop drinking late in life?

Jeff Prosser [00:39:10]:

I have no idea. I would never get into that.

Matt Every [00:39:13]:

Like a lot of older guys, this.

Jeff Prosser [00:39:15]:

Guy could not have been, when he stopped, a bigger jerk.

Scott Riley [00:39:18]:

Coach Hayden Fox.

Jeff Prosser [00:39:19]:

Hayden Fox. That's why I was going to call him Hayden Fox. Hey, buddy, this is not the first one of these you've done, right?

Matt Every [00:39:29]:

Yeah.

Jeff Prosser [00:39:29]:

And so it was like, again, I'm not a Hollywood reporter. I won't pretend to be. I'm smart enough that I could go down the line here from talking to Tiger Woods and talking to Amy Poehler. Guess which one of those is more nerve wracking. Right? This is easy to me. And he was just so difficult and condescending and just like I said, just a total ass.

Matt Every [00:39:50]:

Yeah, you're like, this guy's actually good at something. You're good at being somebody you're not.

Jeff Prosser [00:39:55]:

I think I asked there was a specific question that I thought was fine, and he just became like, prickly. But that was a fun trip. It was interesting to do that.

Matt Every [00:40:07]:

That's random.

Jeff Prosser [00:40:08]:

That's how we got the I don't even remember what brought it up. I think I made a point in there somewhere that can be referred back to here from a few minutes ago. But that's how we got, like, the Ron Burgundy shout out for the radio show that we play sometimes. Ron Burgundy. Shout out to Dan and Jeff visit. Right. One of those. Point being, he did that for me.

Matt Every [00:40:28]:

Yeah.

Jeff Prosser [00:40:28]:

Like, I'm out here doing this, you know, hey, we're done. Of course I but Will Ferrell was a fraternity brother of Tony Baselli's. Brother?

Matt Every [00:40:37]:

Really?

Jeff Prosser [00:40:37]:

Yeah. So I use that guy.

Scott Riley [00:40:38]:

He went to USC.

Jeff Prosser [00:40:39]:

He went to USC, and Baselli went to USC. And I use that. Don't kid yourself. Hey, you know, we do a show with Tony Baselli, blah, blah, blah. Can you do this? Can you do this?

Matt Every [00:40:48]:

Shout out for I want to play the name. Can we go play golf in one day?

Jeff Prosser [00:40:52]:

Yeah. Give me a call. Sure.

Scott Riley [00:40:54]:

How much golf are you playing these days?

Jeff Prosser [00:40:56]:

Not enough. You know, it's funny.

Scott Riley [00:40:58]:

I heard you got dialed in with a new set.

Jeff Prosser [00:41:01]:

Yeah, I did. And I probably haven't played in about a month.

Matt Every [00:41:03]:

What'd you get?

Jeff Prosser [00:41:04]:

I got to 430s. What are the pings?

Matt Every [00:41:06]:

Pings?

Jeff Prosser [00:41:07]:

Yeah.

Matt Every [00:41:07]:

Do you know that Ping skipped over 420? It was like I'm serious.

Scott Riley [00:41:11]:

Marketers dream.

Jeff Prosser [00:41:12]:

410. Did they go ten to 25?

Matt Every [00:41:15]:

It went 400.

Scott Riley [00:41:17]:

410.

Matt Every [00:41:18]:

410, 425. 425. Yeah. I mean, that driver, it would have been like a print shirt for sure. People just buy it.

Scott Riley [00:41:29]:

How much you plan?

Jeff Prosser [00:41:30]:

Tell everyone what 420 would be referencing or just let them do to their.

Matt Every [00:41:34]:

Own whatever devices they probably know.

Jeff Prosser [00:41:36]:

Yeah, I would think so.

Scott Riley [00:41:38]:

Kids love 420.

Matt Every [00:41:41]:

The kids love it these days.

Scott Riley [00:41:42]:

It's a great screen handle name. Put it in.

Jeff Prosser [00:41:46]:

Is there any three number combination in the world that appears in more screen handles than 420?

Matt Every [00:41:52]:

Probably not.

Scott Riley [00:41:53]:

I can't think of one.

Jeff Prosser [00:41:54]:

Yeah, I wouldn't suspect so either.

Scott Riley [00:41:57]:

How'd you get into golf? I know you love it.

Jeff Prosser [00:42:00]:

You know what, I probably start I did let my dad played a little bit when I was a kid, and again, I grew up middle Tennessee in the sticks, Redneckville one golf course, and every once in a while he'd go play, and he'd let me just kind of tag along. I'd hit a few balls and do that, but I really started playing. My dad got transferred when I was going into 9th grade to Puerto Rico. And because he was getting transferred somewhere like that, there were a lot of perks. Right. The company they worked for gave you a membership at it was Palma del Mar, where we were. But Dorado SaraMar there's a few different ones down there.

Scott Riley [00:42:29]:

You are a country club boy.

Jeff Prosser [00:42:30]:

I guess in a way I maybe was, yeah. Except I bowed the yard to be able to pay the cart fees to play when I play. But other than that, just me and Jordan. Exact same upbringing. And so I really got into it there in Puerto Rico because it was available. Right. And not a whole lot else to do. When you speak English and everyone else speaks Spanish for the first couple of years you're there. So I played a lot, probably in high school, but I love it, obviously.

Scott Riley [00:42:56]:

Ever break any clubs?

Jeff Prosser [00:42:58]:

I have broke a club before.

Matt Every [00:43:00]:

Yeah. I have eased off big time.

Jeff Prosser [00:43:01]:

I haven't broken one in a long time. My best club story isn't about a break I once threw. You've probably played it's probably been for everybody in high school. Maybe play Benton Creek out there on the west side. Play that one by the tour for a while. We are playing. It's a hard, tight hole. It's probably maybe like 16 or 17. It's a par four that goes back into the woods and the woods end up boarding on both sides. And I had a bad shot with an iron and I just threw my club up in the air out of frustration. And it went up into, like, this thick grove of pine trees and literally was lost. Like I couldn't. That's terrible. And by the way, this is also at an age where Daddy couldn't just go buy a new club. It was played without that club for a while. Right. And I kept going back and eventually it fell out and someone found it. I ended up getting it months later. The last time when I break a club and I've done it a couple of times, it's the head of the club. It's not from throwing a club. It's like getting mad and just kind of hitting the club on the ground kind of deal.

Matt Every [00:44:00]:

You're better off breaking the shaft.

Jeff Prosser [00:44:01]:

Yeah. You know what happened to me? It's my old set of clubs now, so I don't have to get it replaced. But this has never happened. I broke an eight iron. The shaft broke. Just swinging it on the driving range. I bet you just for the wear and tear.

Matt Every [00:44:15]:

No, I bet I've had that stuff happening before where I would on your back, I'd kick my bag or something.

Jeff Prosser [00:44:21]:

So it was weak and you didn't know.

Matt Every [00:44:22]:

Pulled my three wood out. Strange, because I probably has to do with something that happened before.

Jeff Prosser [00:44:30]:

Yeah, but that's a good one because it may not be a kick. It may just be a good like a baseball swing into it with a four iron. I might do that, too. Well, what was OD about that, if that were the case, is it was like on my 15th or 20th swing with it. At that point, I've swung them and the club heads come off. That's usually with a driver, though.

Matt Every [00:44:49]:

It's a good way to get hurt.

Jeff Prosser [00:44:50]:

Yeah, for sure. I got lucky. It may have happened in the backswing. I'm not even sure I got through the ball. I think it may have happened, like, when I transitioned.

Scott Riley [00:45:01]:

Hey, guys, look.

Jeff Prosser [00:45:02]:

It just went flying up in the air. And immediately, though you're walking immediately. We played a really nice place in Canton. There's a guy who was from Jacksonville.

Matt Every [00:45:11]:

Invite us to his remember when you all went up?

Jeff Prosser [00:45:13]:

Yeah. So invited us to his club. So it was super nice. But when you walk away from the driving range toward your cart in the first tee, and you're carrying an eight iron in two pieces, you immediately have a reputation as a hothead. This guy's breaking clubs on the range. My God, don't get within two holes of that guy.

Scott Riley [00:45:30]:

I do love turning in my club to get repaired going into the when's.

Jeff Prosser [00:45:34]:

The last time you broke one?

Scott Riley [00:45:36]:

It's probably about six months ago. And I just chunked a chip, and I threw my 56 into the ground, thinking it would stick, and it just vibrated and snapped right in the middle.

Jeff Prosser [00:45:47]:

Yeah, I've done it with just I'm bad about just giving it one quick tap on the ground like a driver or three would, and so I can I've been through a few of those, but I haven't broken one out of, like, frustration. And the last one I did was a driver, and it probably wasn't as long ago as I'm pretending, maybe four years. But then you get new clubs, and you treat them nicer.

Matt Every [00:46:09]:

That's right.

Jeff Prosser [00:46:10]:

I'm still searching for a driver, though.

Matt Every [00:46:12]:

You need one?

Jeff Prosser [00:46:13]:

I need one that works. Yeah, I need one. So do I. I'm not getting any younger, boss. I need one that'll just go out there. Just give me out there. 242 50. I'm not asking to play with the bet. I'm not asking to back up to the tees. Just give me something that I can hit.

Scott Riley [00:46:27]:

Yeah, they're saying they're making driver easier to hit.

Matt Every [00:46:30]:

I have not found it.

Jeff Prosser [00:46:32]:

Well, driver, it doesn't happen. You're too good. But I had a certain callaway brand that I hit like, six, eight years ago. I've never hit anything better, and then it just got cycled out. They don't make it anymore. And mine's used up or broke. It was a Razor hawk, bro.

Matt Every [00:46:49]:

I probably got one of those.

Jeff Prosser [00:46:51]:

Let's talk.

Matt Every [00:46:52]:

Yeah.

Jeff Prosser [00:46:53]:

I loved that club. I hit it by a mile better than any driver I've hit in my life. I prefer callaway drivers overall, just like the way it fits in my eye. But that particular driver was a big time strength of and how golf is. You know how when you're good at something, you suck at something else? I just could never hit an iron with a flip. Now I finally have an iron game.

Scott Riley [00:47:10]:

That is so true.

Jeff Prosser [00:47:12]:

Can at least can't all be good at compete. And now I've lost the driver. I mean, there's nothing worse than losing the driver.

Matt Every [00:47:19]:

Yeah, it's so hard. Once you got one, you realize even if you get the exact same shaft, exact same head, not the same. It won't be the same.

Jeff Prosser [00:47:27]:

It just won't.

Matt Every [00:47:28]:

I was having a nice run in like maybe 2019, and I had this driver, and it was just wheelhouse for me.

Jeff Prosser [00:47:37]:

Did you hit Tyler's Driver?

Matt Every [00:47:39]:

It was hot, you know what I'm saying?

Jeff Prosser [00:47:40]:

Yeah.

Matt Every [00:47:41]:

And then I was playing golf one day with my buddy somewhere here, and he wanted to hit my driver. He just swing slower. This is random. I hit it. I look at the face and it's fucking cracked. And it was devastating because I've been around long enough. I know you got me the same set up again, same setup. It doesn't matter. It's going to be a little different. It just always is.

Jeff Prosser [00:48:09]:

Yeah.

Scott Riley [00:48:09]:

We're looking forward to hitting that driver.

Jeff Prosser [00:48:11]:

Well, I will at least give a crack with your old Razor Hawk. Maybe it's not even the exact same. I'm not having much luck with whatever it is. This is how frustrating with my driver because I'm also a loyal guy. Like my putter. I haven't changed my putter in 20 years.

Matt Every [00:48:25]:

Really?

Jeff Prosser [00:48:25]:

I never will. I mean, I've gripped it. That's it.

Matt Every [00:48:27]:

Yeah.

Scott Riley [00:48:28]:

I like that play.

Jeff Prosser [00:48:30]:

But the driver buddy, well, if it starts to misbehaving, what kind of putter is it? It's a cameron. Yeah, it's Blade, pretty much.

Scott Riley [00:48:40]:

It's a good play.

Jeff Prosser [00:48:41]:

All I can do is you do.

Matt Every [00:48:44]:

You have a nice play?

Jeff Prosser [00:48:45]:

Yeah. If I didn't put that, I'd shoot. 90s putting makes me survive when all the other things have gone wrong. That usually cooperates well, pross.

Scott Riley [00:48:54]:

Thanks for coming in.

Jeff Prosser [00:48:55]:

I appreciate you, man. And by the way, Matt thinks I wore the clothes. I got some of the brand on today. He thinks I wore it because I was I wear it all the time.

Matt Every [00:49:05]:

Coming in daily carry, right?

Jeff Prosser [00:49:06]:

I wear it all the time. I love it's. Comfy. It's nice fitting. Look at the see the lugs I'm doing here? I love it more than and I bought these. I mean, I bought one of these for Hicken and one of these for the boss. Now I'm even kissing ass before I get out of here.

Matt Every [00:49:18]:

Did Hicken get you your shirt yet, the national championship shirt? He did.

Jeff Prosser [00:49:22]:

I just got it yesterday. Here's what's happened. And you guys know this. You mentioned I've lost about 25 pounds. So he got me an extra large. And it's too big.

Matt Every [00:49:29]:

You're trying medium now?

Jeff Prosser [00:49:31]:

I probably get away with the medium. I still prefer the large, but the extra large, which I wore t shirt size forever. Looks like a tent.

Matt Every [00:49:38]:

Don't lose anymore, though, bro. You're going to start?

Jeff Prosser [00:49:39]:

I'm not trying to.

Scott Riley [00:49:40]:

A lot of pressure to keep the weight off once you lose it, it.

Jeff Prosser [00:49:44]:

Hadn'T been that hard. Man, I have not changed that much.

Scott Riley [00:49:47]:

I don't feel like I would start eating.

Jeff Prosser [00:49:49]:

I gave up four or five things that I have been eating my whole life that are terrible for you, and it was really hard for four or five months. And now that those things are out and I've replaced them with other stuff, I think I'll be all right. Like, I started on one of those carb kicks, right? Really super low carbs. And I did that to drop the initial weight. And now I find I could stay at the weight I want by eating like crap for a day or two and then not doing any working it off for three days and not eating anything. And I would rather do it that way than eat pork rinds and celery sticks, which is the carb way.

Matt Every [00:50:24]:

Pork rinds are good.

Jeff Prosser [00:50:25]:

I love. I'm down with them. You're the best. You bet you appreciate it.
