Scott Riley [00:00:04]:
I think it's building up a lot of drama that if it comes to fruition, it's going to be pretty fun to watch.
Aron Price [00:00:10]:
The PGA of America owns that event. They don't really have a fight in this battle, and they would want their champion playing.
Tron Carter [00:00:17]:
What happens if one of those guys wins? And they shouldn't even be in that position to begin with because they're not like they haven't really earned their way into anything.
Tyler Brown [00:00:29]:
So to me, this opens the door to incorporate team formats or different formats that make golf shorter or more interesting.
Tyson Alexander [00:00:37]:
I'm just thinking of teams and how it would work out. I mean, who do you put Wyndham with? Who do you put Harmon with? You put Harmon and Brooks Kepka together.
Aron Price [00:00:45]:
Oh, that'd be good.
Tyson Alexander [00:00:46]:
And they could just flick the world off.
Aron Price [00:00:52]:
There was 16 of the Masters. It's probably only going to be like ten at the PGA and then less and less and less. If the majors, say, Taylor Gooch or say Joaquin Neiman wins three live events in a row, and then the next week is the Open or the PGA, and he's not in it. Your product is a little taunt, like slightly, not much. There's still a great field, but wouldn't you want Joaquin Neiman in your course?
Matt Every [00:01:18]:
Of course.
Aron Price [00:01:18]:
So that's why the majors, I think, should be going to the World Golf Rankings and go, guys, look, we don't need to give them equal points as if they're on the Tour. Look, they're playing less rounds. Let's give them 75% to start, and then we don't need to pay. I think the Tour get, say, 50 guys, I think roughly get world Ranking points out of the 150. Right. It's a third. So a third of 48. You're at 16. So maybe give twelve the top twelve goes, the top ten goes. I don't give a shit. Eight guys. So maybe the top eight get points, and they're only 75%. And the strength of field, which would be less anyway, but you should get at least like eight points or ten points for winning a live event. You can't get nothing.
Scott Riley [00:02:00]:
Yeah, I agree.
Aron Price [00:02:01]:
Well, and some of these guys, yes, they're past their prime, but they're still great golfers. Yeah. So you can't give them zero.
Matt Every [00:02:08]:
They're not getting if I could have.
Aron Price [00:02:10]:
A tagline on, my opinion is you can't give the guy who wins a live event zero points.
Scott Riley [00:02:14]:
I think getting the World Golf Rankings involved got 4 million is going to open that door back to a relationship with the PGA. I think it's going to open that door. I mean, Zach Johnson kind of kicked open the door talking about the Ryder Cup. I think Europe has been decimated.
Matt Every [00:02:34]:
Luke Donald said his brother caddies for Brendan Steele on the live, and he said his brother is going to be a part of the Ryder Cup.
Aron Price [00:02:40]:
So a couple of days ago, golf Die just came out with some clarification. So Matt Every is a member of the PGA of America by way that he has a PGA Tour card. I was when I was on tour, if you make 150 cuts combined, you're a tour member on the corn ferry forever. I only made 145. Bring out the tissues. Anyway, so when I lost my tour status, I lost my PGA of America status. Those guys Cam, Smith, Dustin, all those guys lost their tour. They're no longer members of tour, but they do have an extra year. I think the PGA of America, not knowing which way to go, gave them an extra year. So they are actually members, as the way I read it, PGA of America.
Scott Riley [00:03:20]:
Which runs the Ryder Cup, which means.
Aron Price [00:03:22]:
Which runs the Ryder Cup, which has got nothing to do with the PGA Tour. So, look, they're not going to be qualified on their points, but those live guys will be able to be picked as a captain's pick if they want.
Scott Riley [00:03:35]:
The conspiracy theorists in me, I mean, that would be the best Ryder Cup just build up, I think, that you could ever ask for.
Aron Price [00:03:44]:
Now, look, there's probably not many dusty Johnson could be a pick. I think if Zach Johnson wanted to choose him. And Luke Donald wants to know some of the European players. But I don't know.
Scott Riley [00:03:55]:
A captain that's playing well on the.
Aron Price [00:03:57]:
Live I don't know.
Matt Every [00:04:00]:
I don't know. It's been kind of like uline is leading the list out there right now, right?
Aron Price [00:04:04]:
Yeah. But I don't think any of those Euro guys who would be trying to get a pick for the Ryder Cup, I don't think, like Stenson or McDowell, I don't think they would even be considered.
Scott Riley [00:04:12]:
But still, they'd be a part of the team as a vice captain.
Aron Price [00:04:14]:
Fair enough. Yeah, I didn't think of that. Yeah.
Scott Riley [00:04:16]:
And Henrik Stenson missed out on being the mean.
Aron Price [00:04:21]:
Well, I will say it'd be tough to have the actual captain come back with what's going on. No, he could come back in a smaller role, but I don't know. But it sounds like there's an avenue for them to be picked. If so.
Scott Riley [00:04:36]:
It'S just I think it's building up a lot of drama that if it comes to fruition, it's going to be pretty fun to watch.
Aron Price [00:04:42]:
Yeah. Italy. So that'd be cool. Yeah.
Matt Every [00:04:44]:
So PGA of America kind of holds some cards here in all this. I mean, if they do take a couple of lip guys in, it could be in the public. They're going to like it. I mean, people are going to watch.
Scott Riley [00:04:57]:
Could they extend invites into the PGA?
Aron Price [00:05:00]:
What's that?
Scott Riley [00:05:01]:
The PGA of America.
Matt Every [00:05:03]:
What do you mean?
Scott Riley [00:05:03]:
I mean, they lended a lot of.
Matt Every [00:05:05]:
Clubs, like special invites.
Aron Price [00:05:07]:
Yeah, they only give like, one every now and then. It's like VJ like Ernie l someone.
Matt Every [00:05:12]:
Who they're not giving past know, I think if they do let him in I don't think they will, by the way, but I think if they did, it would maybe snowball into some coming together.
Aron Price [00:05:30]:
The majors should remain independent. I understand they feel like they have a voice in world golf, but it's only my dumb opinion. But they need to try and make their fields as strong as possible. And if some of those strong players are on the live, they should be playing. Let the Tour do their thing. Let live do their thing. But the majors should bring us all together. And it's exactly what happened at Augusta, and I thought it was great for the game.
Matt Every [00:05:54]:
What's going to happen with the Ryder Cup with Brooks now?
Aron Price [00:05:57]:
He's in. So he's second on points. Can't lose out. The only way he could be kicked out and they're not going to do it, man. The PGA of America owns that event. They don't really have a fight in this battle and they would want their champion playing.
Matt Every [00:06:10]:
What about Dusty? Is he in?
Aron Price [00:06:12]:
Well, he has to get a pick, but if he's playing well, if you.
Matt Every [00:06:16]:
Got Brooks, you got to bring Dusty in.
Aron Price [00:06:17]:
Luke Donald already said know there's no thing ruling that he wouldn't pick a European player. I think his brother Christian is going to be part of it.
Matt Every [00:06:25]:
Who's he going to Katie for?
Aron Price [00:06:26]:
Steele?
Matt Every [00:06:27]:
He'd pick.
Aron Price [00:06:28]:
I don't know.
Matt Every [00:06:29]:
But of all the euros out there.
Aron Price [00:06:32]:
Did you guys see the Post interview, the Post thing with Shambli and Brad Faxon? No, I haven't seen, you know, employed.
Matt Every [00:06:44]:
By I saw Brooks Kepko watching the Panthers game last night. He looked very dialed in.
Scott Riley [00:06:48]:
He was on fire.
Aron Price [00:06:50]:
I think Shambli was pushing this montage of he keeps the blood money and he's now second in points because the PG America hadn't ruled it out. It's an exchange between Faxon and he's. You know, they're not playing for money at the cup. Like, what's the deal? Like, they're playing for their country. And Shambly's like, hadn't thought about it. You can tell. And he's like, they're playing for their country. You don't think they're playing for their Tour? And he's like, no, they're playing for their country. There's no money involved. Why should they be excluded here? And Chamberlain has nothing. And then Rich Lerner just comes in there's just like dead air, created this little awkward silence again. And people are on the Twitter just like, shambly is a knob or whatever. I'm like, I don't think that. I think Chamberlain is brilliant. And people it's the same people that think Johnny Miller should be off and Nick Faldo, once he's gone. I think Brandel Chamberlain is easily the most important person on the whole Golf Channel staff by a mile. Whether you agree with him, you don't he's thought provoking. He researches, he has reasons for his points. And I think the guy is a very, very important person in the golf industry. Actually, Lisa Cornwall, who we work with a bit. She's written a book and there's a chapter about Brandon Chamberlain. Wow. She's not a fan. Said he's a bully and whatever. I'm not saying I agree with it.
Matt Every [00:08:16]:
But not a fan.
Scott Riley [00:08:17]:
Wanted to get your take on the Ryder Cup and what the future of that looks like. I think Rory came out and said something kind of weird. He thinks the Brooks should be in on the American side, but he wants to leave some of the Euros off of the team. How can you have that?
Tron Carter [00:08:36]:
The I see a little bit of the reasoning there.
Aron Price [00:08:40]:
Where earning your spot, the PGA of America.
Tron Carter [00:08:43]:
It's the PGA of America on this side. It's the European Tour, whatever they're calling it, DP World Tour on the other side. And they're suing that tour. And like, the shit that Sergio said of behind closed doors of like, you guys are fucked. This tour is a like, the guy, like, spitting everybody's face on the way out. Whereas I think Brooks and DJ haven't.
Matt Every [00:09:07]:
Really I love the way they've handled they've.
Tron Carter [00:09:08]:
They've been like, whatever, like, we're going over here. And that's why nobody's turned up the heat on them, because they made a decision. They seem content with their decision and they've been relatively classy about it. And I don't think that same let's say it was trying to think of an like, if it was Bryson, for instance, that had just won, I don't think people would be coming out and saying, yeah, I think Bryson deserves to play on the cup team. Like, nobody wants Bryson on that team.
Scott Riley [00:09:38]:
They want the locker room guys, DJ and Brooks.
Matt Every [00:09:41]:
But I do think Bryce just real quick, I do think Bryson slimming down and looking more less Bryson. Yes. Looking less yes. He looks a little more innocent now than he did before.
Scott Riley [00:09:55]:
He's been awful quiet. He used to be everywhere. And Liv has killed his social media presence. I'm curious about world ranking points. And let's say a guy like Harold Varner just wins last week. Let's say he wins three more live events this summer and just goes on a yeah, how does a guy like that get stature again? Because he's going to fall out of his exemptions into the Masters.
Aron Price [00:10:23]:
Well, that's my hot take. They need to get some points to live to it. And everyone's like, oh, well, there's a process. We're not talking about a tour in Bangladesh, talking about established guys who've got careers who can still play clearly in majors. So I just think they need to I don't care if only the top ten get only the top eight, top six, I don't give a shit. But if you win the event, you can't get zero points and that's so.
Tron Carter [00:10:46]:
How do you do it, though? I think part of it is the top 20 to 24 guys are credible golfers. And then you've got like, Siwan Kim and Andy Ogletree. They should play points well right now, but, like yeah, but what happens if one of those guys wins? And they shouldn't even be in that position to begin with because they haven't really earned their way into anything or also, I think one of the other issues is there was a quote earlier this year I think Sebastian Munoz was talking about. There was a team component going down the stretch, and then I think it was either Sebastian Munoz or somebody else, and he basically said he's yeah, like, I knew I couldn't three putt for the team component, so I didn't go for this putt. And it's like you got to factor that in because there's two different concurrent competitions going on right now. That's not to say that I think the world ranking points, for other reasons as well, are not in a good place to begin with. I think they've totally cut the legs out from the European tour of, like, they've made it to where the only tour that matters now is PJ Tour.
Aron Price [00:11:58]:
The Australian Tour used to get, like, the smaller ones, like, six points. Now you get like, 1.5 points. Like, it's a tier two. I understand it, but my whole thing with the whole world ranking points is I always thought they don't give enough points to the winner. I would take some away from 2nd, 3rd, 4th, because winning, it's so much different than finishing second or third. It's like a psychology. I think it should be rewarded. So I don't know. I don't know how they're going to do that. I freaking don't sit on those meetings. But if you win a tier two or even a strain event, you probably should get, like, more than one and a half points.
Scott Riley [00:12:31]:
But the PGA tour has been weakened. They lost, we'll say, 48 guys to another tour yet, you know what I'm saying? But they've been weakened, and they're still getting the same amount of points.
Aron Price [00:12:48]:
Fair point, too. Yeah.
Scott Riley [00:12:50]:
And those guys that were getting them, they're not getting them anymore.
Tron Carter [00:12:54]:
It's the same thing with last year. All the guys that dropped out from guys that are 140th or 145th on FedEx cup got bumped. Cup inside the top 125. There's something there, too. I was at Colonial last week. There's definitely less depth out there. You see it in the top tier guys are still the top tier guys. Like Victor was out there speed, but.
Matt Every [00:13:19]:
You can see the depth stuff at the Players Championship. It was noticeable this year with some of the names, and then you can also see it at the match play. I saw some names in that match play. It used to be the match play. You needed to be 66 or better. There might be one or two guys that didn't play this year with guys falling out with the live, and then.
Aron Price [00:13:38]:
You'Re effectively, like 80, like 98 getting in, maybe 80.
Tron Carter [00:13:41]:
But I think part of the thing for me is at this point, the PGA Tour is getting stronger and stronger and stronger. If you want to be a serious golfer, you have to come play the PGA Tour. You can't play a split schedule anymore with Europe and it's becoming this self fulfilling prophecy and kind of a closed system setting aside live for a second. Even with Agent Tour and Australia and all these places to where? There's less pathways for the rest of the world to get involved and to get in the you know, before, it was like, yes, I know that they were underpinning some of these tournament and giving them probably more points than they should have, but I think to a certain extent and the WGC, that's good for the health of the game globally. Right? But I don't know how you fix it. I think the majors could probably rise above some of it and say, hey, you know what? We're going to give exemptions to these four or five live guys that we think have played well based on form and make it kind of an unofficial thing. At least have the Masters or the PGA Championship do that. I don't think the RNA or the USGA is probably going to I don't know. And there's probably so much more shit coming down the pike with the antitrust regulatory stuff coming from can't wait for that.
Aron Price [00:15:08]:
I don't know anything about it, but.
Tron Carter [00:15:09]:
Phil's cooperating with the Phil's, like bringing stuff to the US government.
Matt Every [00:15:14]:
Unbelievable.
Scott Riley [00:15:15]:
So what do you all think? Crystal ball? What's to come of liv. There's talk know, at the end of the year we'll take a look at it and thinking with Monahan in control, he's going to squash it. I kind of doubt that. I don't think that Liv is dead. I think that the team concept is something that the money that's coming into the Tour wants to see push forward and succeed.
Matt Every [00:15:39]:
I think Liv's dead.
Aron Price [00:15:40]:
I have an idea in my mind, but that's just my own thing. It would be so cricket, which is not that big over here. I think cricketers make 70% of their money in six weeks in the IPL, the Indian Premier League cricket. It's mad. There's 200,000 people watching. But it's just a short season, so I don't know if it would work. And the guys do want off seasons, but maybe the Tour runs from January to August. Then the rest is the live event goes for 18 weeks, two or three in America, around the world, everyone's flying on the same plane. So the traveling would be as easy as possible. Be like a traveling circus. They're going to get paid tons of money. They're going to entertain all the way around the world. The whole planet is going to get to see them play. That's how I would hope it works. But I don't know. I don't know.
Matt Every [00:16:21]:
Okay, what about this?
Aron Price [00:16:22]:
What's the objective?
Matt Every [00:16:22]:
What about this? Does Cam own his team.
Aron Price [00:16:26]:
I think he's 25% owner.
Matt Every [00:16:28]:
Okay. He's 25% owner. When he was 25% owner. And it was just liv. Let's be real. At the way Live was going, that team was worth zero.
Tyler Brown [00:16:38]:
Worth zero.
Matt Every [00:16:39]:
It's worth zero. Now that the Tour is acquired or they're partnering up, that team is worth a lot more money, isn't it?
Aron Price [00:16:48]:
Correct. The potential. Yeah. So what happens there?
Tyler Brown [00:16:53]:
I think Live and team golf are two different things. So I think the brand Liv, in my opinion, will probably go away because there's no real equity in the brand. I think team golf and the concept is valuable because there's a different competitive component that fans are going to want to watch.
Tron Carter [00:17:08]:
Now.
Tyler Brown [00:17:08]:
Are the guys going to want to play a full season and then during their offseason go travel around the world for ten weeks? Probably not. But is there a way you could.
Aron Price [00:17:15]:
Do it where Subs or something?
Tron Carter [00:17:18]:
Yeah.
Tyler Brown [00:17:18]:
To me, it's more like the golf product needs to evolve. I mean, think about golf tournament. They're four days. They've been the same for 100 years.
Aron Price [00:17:25]:
Right.
Tyler Brown [00:17:25]:
And it's hard for the modern consumer to watch four days of any event or competition. They want to watch 2 hours or 3 hours, like an NBA game. So to me, this opens the door to incorporate team formats or different formats that make golf shorter or more interesting, like the new Monday Night Tomorrow Golf thing, which is a whole different ball of wax. But I think Live is going to go away. Team golf is going to be bigger and more important going forward.
Scott Riley [00:17:50]:
You brought up the TGL. I'm glad you did. What's to come of TGL.
Tyler Brown [00:17:55]:
Is it TGL or tomorrow golf? Or is it both?
Scott Riley [00:17:58]:
Tomorrow golf league. Is that what it stands for?
Tyler Brown [00:18:00]:
Yeah, that's it.
Scott Riley [00:18:01]:
It's like a simulator league with players.
Matt Every [00:18:05]:
I haven't heard anything about. I mean, everyone's signing onto it, but it's kind of been it's moving behind the scenes.
Tyler Brown [00:18:11]:
There's deals being done. They're building the teams, they're building the format. I mean, they're building a location in Palm Beach.
Matt Every [00:18:18]:
I think getting back to the liv thing real quick with the team, just team aspect in golf, I have talked to quite a few players, and I know Aaron has two on the Lib, and they are all in on the team stuff. Like Harold Varner, because it's fun. Harold Varner told me it was the best part out there, the team aspect.
Aron Price [00:18:38]:
And that's what Cam has been a little agitated because they're not playing to their ability as a team. And it's more fun if you're finishing 3rd, 2nd, 1st know, in the bottom six, you need more 06:00 a.m. Workouts with Brooksie. That's so funny. But it goes back to the point I made in previous episodes. If you ask a golfer why they're so excited to play in the Ryder Cup Presence Cup, because it's fun. A lot of times you're on your own out there and we've all played individual sport for years. It's not but if you got someone next to you and you're on a team, there's something calming about it. It's a different set of nerves, but obviously when you pull it off and you win, it's fun to celebrate with two or three or four or five others other than you have your own team and your trainer and all that. But it's not the same.
Matt Every [00:19:28]:
Who do you think the biggest losers will be coming out of this?
Aron Price [00:19:32]:
The low level live god.
Matt Every [00:19:34]:
Yeah, same.
Aron Price [00:19:35]:
They're going to struggle. Yeah. Ogletree and maybe Jed.
Tyler Brown [00:19:40]:
The top 1220 live guys will be fine.
Matt Every [00:19:43]:
We don't know what their names alone. They already had tour status, so they've passed champions. They can come back. But if you came out of like Andy Ogletree or Chase Kepka, what's Chase Kupka going to do now?
Scott Riley [00:19:54]:
What was he doing before?
Aron Price [00:19:55]:
I don't know. He had a good run. Exactly. I feel like a guy that won't be mad at all.
Matt Every [00:19:59]:
Yeah, no, they got money.
Aron Price [00:20:01]:
That's the thing, too. I think Monahan and that are going to do it very right. Like, do they come back and what's the penalty and does this guy get some money for staying?
Scott Riley [00:20:10]:
You got to create a path back for these guys. Whether you punish them by making them earn their card back or you're wise about it.
Aron Price [00:20:18]:
These guys are they'll work it out and that's where I think the membership will get a say. Will they get to dictate? No, but they'll have a voice and I think it's all going to be fine.
Matt Every [00:20:29]:
All right, so we are at in the schedule here. We got the start of the playoffs this week. Ryder cup is really heating up and cool. Yeah. We just got a print out of the list. Boy, that European team.
Tyson Alexander [00:20:42]:
I didn't get that list.
Matt Every [00:20:43]:
Nothing's really screaming, jumping out at me.
Aron Price [00:20:45]:
With let's do the European team.
Tyson Alexander [00:20:47]:
Oh, my gosh.
Scott Riley [00:20:48]:
I don't recognize many of these names.
Tyson Alexander [00:20:50]:
They do it differently, though.
Matt Every [00:20:51]:
How do they do it?
Tyson Alexander [00:20:52]:
I think they have they have a.
Aron Price [00:20:54]:
European money list and a US.
Tyson Alexander [00:20:55]:
I think they have three qualifiers on the US and three qualifiers in Europe and then they pick the rest.
Aron Price [00:21:01]:
Here's the names. Terrell Hatton's. Eleven on this list. But he's good. But Smith? I don't know. Smith. Smith. Embarrassing myself.
Matt Every [00:21:12]:
Jordan Smith.
Tyson Alexander [00:21:12]:
Justin Smith.
Aron Price [00:21:13]:
Smith. I hope I pronounced just Jordan.
Tyson Alexander [00:21:16]:
I don't know.
Scott Riley [00:21:17]:
He's from England.
Matt Every [00:21:17]:
So bad.
Aron Price [00:21:21]:
Both of those use Luton's in there at 14. Victor Hovland.
Matt Every [00:21:25]:
Okay. Who's the dude at I will say.
Tyson Alexander [00:21:29]:
I played barbersol with two DP guys.
Matt Every [00:21:32]:
Alexander Levy as the man all time.
Tyson Alexander [00:21:35]:
Oh, my gosh.
Matt Every [00:21:35]:
You asked him? We had times.
Tyson Alexander [00:21:37]:
Yes, you told me that. And then, yeah, he's a good you.
Matt Every [00:21:43]:
Got a great group there.
Tyson Alexander [00:21:44]:
Oh, my gosh.
Aron Price [00:21:45]:
It was a group together. Same day.
Tyson Alexander [00:21:47]:
Yeah. Andy. Andy played good. The first day, and then he missed the cut the second day, and his caddy was talking about how they were going to go on a Bourbon Tour or whatever, and then we shook hands on Friday after they miscut. He goes, we're going to drink all the bourbon.
Aron Price [00:22:03]:
I'd love to have seen them Saturday.
Tyson Alexander [00:22:04]:
Morning, but Levy was a cool dude.
Aron Price [00:22:07]:
Yeah, I played Levy about eight years ago in Perth, and that was when he was playing really well. I think self proclaimed as well. He was a maniac.
Matt Every [00:22:16]:
No, we got paired together in China.
Aron Price [00:22:18]:
One year maniac on the course.
Matt Every [00:22:20]:
And I was in full maniac mode, too, and I saw him at the barbersolve whenever it was a month ago, and I probably haven't seen him in, dude, damn near ten years. Like, eight to ten years. And he comes up to me with a big smile. He's like, my crazy friend gave me.
Aron Price [00:22:39]:
The pothole on the kettle black.
Matt Every [00:22:40]:
Right.
Aron Price [00:22:41]:
He reminds me of Joel Schulm. You know Joel Schulm?
Matt Every [00:22:43]:
Yeah.
Aron Price [00:22:44]:
Just a big larger than life character off the course, extremely friendly, but gets on the course and just gets a little yeah, he's a little heated.
Tyson Alexander [00:22:51]:
He played good when we played together, but if it got crooked, I think he could have a day.
Matt Every [00:22:56]:
The DP, they got to change that name, dude. I mean, every time I hear that, you just go somewhere else.
Scott Riley [00:23:03]:
You can't help it.
Matt Every [00:23:03]:
You can't.
Tron Carter [00:23:04]:
It's like, what are we doing?
Aron Price [00:23:07]:
What are we doing?
Scott Riley [00:23:07]:
Marketing team. Looking at this European list. What would this thing look like blended with live players? Because they're going to have to go to the well, I don't know. They're going to have nothing but a team.
Aron Price [00:23:19]:
Half rookie. Aaron.
Scott Riley [00:23:21]:
You're a European rookie.
Matt Every [00:23:22]:
You're our European tour expert. How many auto qualifiers do they have?
Aron Price [00:23:26]:
I don't know, but I know there's two lists, and there's six picks.
Tyson Alexander [00:23:29]:
Yeah.
Aron Price [00:23:30]:
So USA, one of the teams used to be eight and four. Now they're both six and six.
Tyson Alexander [00:23:35]:
I think you got to take those.
Scott Riley [00:23:38]:
Okay, here's looking at a list with you. Look on the back world points. There's a European points and world points category. This one has. Tommy Fleetwood. Matt Fitzpatrick.
Aron Price [00:23:48]:
Fitzpatrick's. 20 sepstraka.
Scott Riley [00:23:51]:
Just playing. Sorry, I forgot about got printed out here. That is very intriguing.
Tyson Alexander [00:24:00]:
I forgot about a boy.
Scott Riley [00:24:02]:
Rosie Bray is Birmingham.
Aron Price [00:24:05]:
Look at the Austria. We're a bit slow. This is the European points.
Scott Riley [00:24:08]:
Valdostria.
Matt Every [00:24:09]:
Valdostria.
Scott Riley [00:24:11]:
Did you just come up with that?
Aron Price [00:24:12]:
I did.
Scott Riley [00:24:12]:
Awesome.
Matt Every [00:24:13]:
That's awesome. All right, let's look at the US list, though. When's the cut off for the top six, even if Cantlay or Chauffe slides out of the top six, they're in. So we kind of got a good vibe here. We got Scotty Wyndham harmon Kepka shoffle cantlay homa. You got to assume those seven are in pretty much no matter what spieth he's in. That makes eight.
Tyson Alexander [00:24:40]:
You skipped one.
Matt Every [00:24:42]:
Cam Young, are you going to automatically throw Cam Young in there?
Tyson Alexander [00:24:47]:
Okay.
Matt Every [00:24:48]:
Are you?
Tyson Alexander [00:24:49]:
I mean, you didn't but I didn't.
Scott Riley [00:24:50]:
I mean.
Matt Every [00:24:53]:
Is he lighting don't?
Scott Riley [00:24:56]:
He hasn't been closing anything out. He's got a little bit of contention.
Tyson Alexander [00:25:00]:
I think he was in the last group of the British.
Scott Riley [00:25:01]:
He's in contention and everything.
Matt Every [00:25:05]:
I forgot to watch that.
Tyson Alexander [00:25:06]:
Harmon made that boring.
Matt Every [00:25:07]:
Yeah, he did.
Tron Carter [00:25:08]:
He really did.
Scott Riley [00:25:08]:
I hate it when somebody he did.
Matt Every [00:25:10]:
Make that tournament boring.
Tyson Alexander [00:25:11]:
That's fine, though.
Aron Price [00:25:11]:
Cam Young definitely gets shoulder bump going early, though.
Matt Every [00:25:15]:
His body language is top five. Worst all time. Like for an elite player. For an elite player, it is. The guy's just like you can tell right away kind of where he stands.
Scott Riley [00:25:26]:
You know, we never really did we haven't done the story will fix that.
Matt Every [00:25:29]:
Well, they're two total opposites, bro.
Scott Riley [00:25:31]:
So we haven't been together since Harmon won and we haven't really talked about the open, but kind of the ramifications from that. Where does Brian Harmon he's up there at top three. Mean he's locked, dude.
Aron Price [00:25:45]:
He's been playing well.
Scott Riley [00:25:46]:
Tournament like that's.
Tyson Alexander [00:25:49]:
Nice. And by the way, he'll be good over there.
Matt Every [00:25:51]:
He'll be just fine.
Tyson Alexander [00:25:52]:
He's a bulldog and it's over there. I think he'll be good over there.
Aron Price [00:25:57]:
Is this his team?
Scott Riley [00:25:58]:
This will be his first team.
Aron Price [00:25:59]:
He don't want to lose to no damn European.
Scott Riley [00:26:01]:
I love seeing rookies and they all come out. That's a bigger storyline for me seeing how the rookies perform than how the vets do.
Matt Every [00:26:09]:
All right, so to make this easy, let's cut our list off here at 15. All right, so Denny McCarthy is the last guy. All right.
Aron Price [00:26:18]:
I was having a debate. Hold on.
Matt Every [00:26:20]:
The three guys. Who are you going to leave off? Three guys out of the top 15, who are you leaving off?
Tyson Alexander [00:26:26]:
Well, there's a couple of names on here that I would add.
Matt Every [00:26:30]:
Who?
Tyson Alexander [00:26:31]:
I mean, Dustin Johnson is not on this list and I would kind of have him really?
Scott Riley [00:26:35]:
I would think about him.
Aron Price [00:26:36]:
He's not in peaked.
Tyson Alexander [00:26:38]:
He needs maybe play good.
Aron Price [00:26:40]:
Ryder Gooch should be in the top.
Tyson Alexander [00:26:41]:
Taylor Gooch has been playing good.
Matt Every [00:26:42]:
Okay, so we'll add those 15 and.
Aron Price [00:26:45]:
They'Re not getting picked.
Matt Every [00:26:46]:
Add the champagne.
Aron Price [00:26:48]:
They shouldn't, but they won't. Okay.
Scott Riley [00:26:49]:
Kepka for sure.
Aron Price [00:26:51]:
Kepka is already kepka's in.
Scott Riley [00:26:52]:
He's going to qualify. Oh, God. He's on the left side. I didn't know he was able to.
Aron Price [00:26:56]:
Get how do you get Ricky and JT. Who are 13 and 14? Because I thought JT my thing was he's a lock. It's six weeks away. He's going to be fine. And I was having this back channel discussion with Tron and then I went back and said I actually just looked at this closely. Who do you throw out to put JT in the stuff? Maybe Sam burns.
Scott Riley [00:27:16]:
Is Tiger involved with this team? I don't know.
Tyson Alexander [00:27:18]:
What the structure of I don't think so.
Scott Riley [00:27:20]:
Zach Johnson.
Tyson Alexander [00:27:21]:
Stuart sinks a captain, but Stevie Steve.
Scott Riley [00:27:24]:
Tiger, so I know. How do you lobby? You can only lobby with your play. Right.
Matt Every [00:27:30]:
Okay. You got Ricky.
Tyson Alexander [00:27:32]:
I think Ricky's had a good enough year and he's coming back. I would try to get him in the mix.
Aron Price [00:27:36]:
All right. In the last six months yeah. Huge.
Matt Every [00:27:38]:
You got your top seven. We'll say homa and up are automatically in. There's no way he's not taking what that's eight.
Aron Price [00:27:46]:
I got a sidebar.
Matt Every [00:27:48]:
I think Ricky gets selected. That's nine.
Tyson Alexander [00:27:50]:
Yeah, we need three more.
Matt Every [00:27:51]:
You need three more. Are any of those live guys, do you think in your heart of hearts.
Tyson Alexander [00:27:55]:
Zach Johnson is going to I think Cam Young's in, by the way.
Aron Price [00:27:59]:
Okay.
Tyson Alexander [00:27:59]:
I know you.
Matt Every [00:27:59]:
So that's ten. No, I'm not anti cam young. He's quiet. He's like a Sam Burns. He kind of gets lost in the shuffle.
Scott Riley [00:28:08]:
How is Tony Phenow this far down the left? He was on a winning spree.
Aron Price [00:28:13]:
Where he be now, Tony Finau, but I will say is people and not to target trump, but whoever they're like, oh, he doesn't deserve it. If Denny McCarthy's had a better year than Justin Thomas, I don't give a shit. Right. Who can win points? It's not a merit award where you've been rewarded for your year. I don't believe in that. I believe in putting the team who's going to win or the person is going to win.
Matt Every [00:28:38]:
Does the golf course have anything to do with your selection or you should straight by the insides of the players?
Aron Price [00:28:45]:
I think the golf course for sure. I don't know much.
Matt Every [00:28:47]:
Kind of like a plotter's course. Do you not take a as a dog?
Aron Price [00:28:51]:
Dude, I'm not saying to not take Denny, by the way. I'm just saying, like, that was the name I used. You're putting the person in who can win the most points.
Scott Riley [00:29:00]:
And if you're Zach Johnson and you have to pick between Justin Thomas and you what are you doing?
Aron Price [00:29:05]:
I don't think it's an easy pick.
Scott Riley [00:29:06]:
I mean, it's your pick as the captain.
Matt Every [00:29:08]:
It's not an easy pick, but it's.
Aron Price [00:29:10]:
An easy sorry, but I think Justin Thomas in six weeks is probably going to find something. He maybe doesn't, but I think it's a gamble worth taking. And if he finds something, he's in your top three players. It's a risk.
Tyson Alexander [00:29:24]:
I'm just looking at it as a team aspect.
Aron Price [00:29:27]:
Okay.
Scott Riley [00:29:27]:
Locker room.
Aron Price [00:29:28]:
Okay.
Matt Every [00:29:29]:
So what about Keegan and Morikawa?
Tyson Alexander [00:29:31]:
You've got Xander and Cantlay. You've got Jordan and Ricky. You've got Scheffler with you've got Jordan.
Aron Price [00:29:41]:
And Justin probably Scheffler and cantlay play together.
Tyson Alexander [00:29:44]:
I'm just thinking of teams and how it would work out. I mean, who do you put Wyndham with? Who do you put Harmon with? You put Harmon and Brooks Kepka together.
Aron Price [00:29:52]:
Oh, that'd be good.
Tyson Alexander [00:29:53]:
And they could just flick the world off.
Scott Riley [00:29:56]:
So mad all.
Tyson Alexander [00:30:00]:
Don'T I don't I don't think you can go I like our twins. That team. I don't know. I like that team.
Matt Every [00:30:10]:
I think right now, no extra live guys are going to get selected. And then I think you leave off Morikawa, Burns and McCarthy and then there you go.
Tyson Alexander [00:30:22]:
You leave off Morikawa, Burns and McCarthy and you're taking Justin and that's obviously.
Matt Every [00:30:27]:
Like the popular so you say you're.
Aron Price [00:30:29]:
Taking oh, in a heartbeat.
Tyson Alexander [00:30:32]:
You took all the number one seeds in the March Madness.
Matt Every [00:30:34]:
I basically I'm with would I take Denny?
Aron Price [00:30:43]:
All right. Yeah. It was just for that last but he would have I'm sure he has Burns and Morikow in there, too.
Tyson Alexander [00:30:50]:
I think the European team should take who's not on this list is the new kid, Ludwig?
Matt Every [00:30:56]:
Yeah. Oh, you got to take them. They need the juice on their team.
Tyson Alexander [00:31:01]:
They need to get him in the mix early at home.
Aron Price [00:31:04]:
I don't think so. He's played pretty solid, but I'm not saying he's going to be on the.
Tyson Alexander [00:31:10]:
Team in the next one, don't you think?
Aron Price [00:31:12]:
100%. Yeah.
Tyson Alexander [00:31:13]:
So let's get him exposed.
Scott Riley [00:31:16]:
I'm just looking through the I can't think of who left for live. Is Luke going to I'm looking at all the Europeans over there. I don't really see any other than that. The just it's not like they lost any of their stars from Europe, too.
Matt Every [00:31:30]:
But also, how good are their veterans playing right now?
Scott Riley [00:31:34]:
Yeah, exactly.
Matt Every [00:31:35]:
It's like Dustin on the live.
Scott Riley [00:31:36]:
They'd be like Vikings captains.
Matt Every [00:31:38]:
I mean, maybe I'm missing something here, but I know he played bad at the British. There's only so many spots those guys can earn points, too, so it's like those weeks are huge for them.
Aron Price [00:31:47]:
I just don't think they're going to pick him because they haven't played against the two of guys. It's too hard to know. Taylor Gooch puts up a big argument, but I'm not saying he shouldn't get picked. I'm just saying he won't get picked.
Matt Every [00:32:00]:
Do you think there's been any communication between Taylor and Zach Johnson?
Aron Price [00:32:06]:
I don't know. It's a good question.
Scott Riley [00:32:07]:
Maybe when he was winning, he was won a couple.
Matt Every [00:32:10]:
Because you have to get fitted.
Aron Price [00:32:13]:
Okay.
Matt Every [00:32:14]:
You have to get fitted for the uniforms.
Aron Price [00:32:17]:
You do.
Matt Every [00:32:18]:
I got fucking fitted one year, all right. I did at Memorial.
Aron Price [00:32:22]:
What sort of size were we running then? We're like large, medium? Like what were we right in between?
Matt Every [00:32:28]:
Large, 34 waist.
Tyson Alexander [00:32:31]:
What?
Matt Every [00:32:31]:
I'm always there, bro.
Tyson Alexander [00:32:33]:
Okay.
Aron Price [00:32:33]:
Eladium these guys.
Matt Every [00:32:36]:
No, it's a thing. You're wearing team uniforms. Do you think Taylor Gooch has been fitted for his uniform? Just in case?
Tyson Alexander [00:32:45]:
I think he told besides him. We'll cross that bridge later. If it happens.
Aron Price [00:32:49]:
We'll call Mount Biker. We'll get confirmation from Taylor's Ketty.
Matt Every [00:32:53]:
It would be cool if Jack didn't take the easy way out and just ruffled some feathers like you just did.
Tyson Alexander [00:33:02]:
Well, think about it.
Scott Riley [00:33:03]:
What if decisions made on what if.
Tyson Alexander [00:33:04]:
Brooks falls out of the top six he's going to pick Brooks.
Aron Price [00:33:07]:
Yeah. The major winners get he Wants to win. I don't think you want to the major winners get preferences, too, on this, which so they should.
Scott Riley [00:33:15]:
It's wild to see Will Zalators. That's what I'm still showing. 17. And he hadn't touched a club all year.
Matt Every [00:33:21]:
I know.
Scott Riley [00:33:21]:
And how is Phenow? He's behind Zal Torres.
Matt Every [00:33:25]:
That's weird to me, man.
Aron Price [00:33:26]:
Yeah.
Scott Riley [00:33:27]:
I don't understand the trust these ratings. Oh, conspiracy theorist going on here.
Matt Every [00:33:33]:
What website did we get this from, Drew? CNN.
Aron Price [00:33:36]:
He is going on here.
