Scott Riley [00:00:00]:

You and Maddie are in the your boys are in the same league. You got any mad every stories?

Matt Every [00:00:06]:

I've been tame around Josh.

Josh Scobee [00:00:08]:

Yeah. Nothing on the baseball side but flag football. Okay. Yeah.

Scott Riley [00:00:14]:

I forget.

Matt Every [00:00:14]:

Were you there for this?

Josh Scobee [00:00:15]:

I was not there. I was there for playing against that guy, but not for the blow up. But his kids was was on the team of this coach who was a nightmare. Like, he would talk shit to the players on the other team. I mean, we're talking about ten year.

Matt Every [00:00:34]:

Old kids telling a ten year old kid to suck on it while he's down on the ground football.

Aron Price [00:00:41]:

We've talked about that guy before.

Matt Every [00:00:42]:

Totally.

Josh Scobee [00:00:43]:

I mean, he'd been in trouble with the league before, apparently, and fortunately got kicked out after your incident with him. The kids would come back to the sideline and be like, that coach just yelled something at me.

Scott Riley [00:01:00]:

Welcome back to another episode of Straight Down the Middle ish. We are joined by a local legend here in the Jacksonville area. Number ten in the playbook, number one in your hearts, Mr. Josh SCOBY. Thanks for coming on.

Josh Scobee [00:01:13]:

Hey, thanks for having me. Which should have taken less time to get me on, so my apologies.

Matt Every [00:01:19]:

Yeah, we're excited to have you here.

Aron Price [00:01:21]:

It is one of those moments I'll say, where were you? I know where I was when you kicked that. That was, at the time, the longest in Jag history.

Josh Scobee [00:01:28]:

Oh, the 59 yarder?

Aron Price [00:01:30]:

Yeah, I was at where were you? With sneakers in jack spray work. One of the very few times I've been there, I was at Sneakers out on the porch, and obviously it was a fucking big kick.

Scott Riley [00:01:39]:

Set the table for us there, Scoves. That is one of the biggest highlights in Jag's history.

Josh Scobee [00:01:44]:

Yeah, it was one of those moments, like, as a kicker, you dream of getting, like, a last second long field goal to either win the game or the walk off. Yeah, like a walk off kick, game winning, anything. That's what you dream about as an athlete. And it just set up perfectly with 1 second left tie ball game and a long field goal. And I happened to drill it. And you really can't ever predict when that's going to happen because you just never know. But that was a fun time.

Matt Every [00:02:19]:

What's the feeling through your body when that happens?

Josh Scobee [00:02:21]:

It's literally I mean, I can out of body? Yeah, it's out of body afterwards. And I could always remember whenever I made a good kick, I could remember everything. I felt like pre kick during the kick, post kick, and that one I don't remember anything after the kick. I just remember getting back to the locker room, and it was like I blacked out for five minutes.

Matt Every [00:02:46]:

It was awesome.

Scott Riley [00:02:47]:

I missed your celebrations. You had some pretty sick soccer style.

Josh Scobee [00:02:51]:

Yeah, that one was planned. I knew. I'm like, all right, this is what.

Scott Riley [00:02:56]:

So you plan this through your head. If I make this son of a.

Aron Price [00:03:00]:

Guy, hopefully a few weeks before, when this situation comes up, hopefully it wasn't like, hey, I'm walking out. If I kick this, I'm going to do that. Hopefully it was before.

Josh Scobee [00:03:10]:

Yes. So I wanted to get away from everyone, so I just basically made a victory lap and took off my helmet and ran around the field. And I did something and I've talked about this before, and I did something that I had no clue that I had done when I ran around the field, because Peyton Manning was running off their sideline. He has to run across the field to go back to their visiting locker room. And I had no clue I did it until I ran into Peyton on a golf trip, and he told me about it.

Matt Every [00:03:43]:

Wow.

Josh Scobee [00:03:43]:

So I ran past him and can we cuss on here? I ran past him and I saw him, and I go, Woo, motherfucker. And ran off. And I had no clue that I did it.

Matt Every [00:03:55]:

He keeps receipts for sure out of body.

Josh Scobee [00:03:57]:

So we were at Augusta on a golf trip, and he invites us up to the Butler Cabin for drinks after dinner. And he's like, hey, you remember that kick? I'm like, yeah, I remember that kick. He's like, you remember what you yelled at me? I'm like nope. Apparently I yelled at.

Scott Riley [00:04:16]:

New member at Augusta National.

Josh Scobee [00:04:18]:

He's been there quite a few years now. Yeah.

Matt Every [00:04:20]:

First time I went to Augusta, I ran into Peyton and Eli there. They were having breakfast right next to.

Josh Scobee [00:04:25]:

Jonas and I apparently he's been going there too often. They have to tell him.

Matt Every [00:04:29]:

Really?

Josh Scobee [00:04:30]:

That's like three trips this month, Peyton.

Aron Price [00:04:32]:

Wow. If you don't have a green jacket, we'll get onto some other you're on a pitch camp.

Matt Every [00:04:36]:

We'll get on to some other things. But you talk about you'll never forget where you were. I'll never forget where I was. Gumby's Pizza in Gainesville had the Jags plus 13 and a half at Indy. We score with, like it's a minute or less to go. No timeouts, obviously. Two minute warnings gone to go down seven. We got an onside kick it, and you're lining up to onside kick it.

Matt Every [00:05:04]:

Fucking return it for a touchdown.

Scott Riley [00:05:06]:

So jack.

Matt Every [00:05:07]:

I will never forget that.

Josh Scobee [00:05:09]:

I think we were eight and five going into that game. Maybe it was yeah, we just had to win one game to make the playoffs, and we lost the last three games. And yeah, I remember that onside kick.

Matt Every [00:05:21]:

You never see a one return for is that the only one in your career?

Josh Scobee [00:05:24]:

Only one.

Matt Every [00:05:25]:

Really?

Josh Scobee [00:05:25]:

I mishit it. I hit it too soft, and it just goes, hop, hop to this guy. And he goes, and I'm see you later.

Matt Every [00:05:33]:

It looks so easy. It makes you wonder why they don't do it more often.

Josh Scobee [00:05:36]:

Oh, I got some shit for that from teammates, coaches, like, why did you kick it that soft? I'm like, I don't know. I don't know.

Scott Riley [00:05:43]:

Well, the Jags made up for it this past weekend with that Houston performance on special teams. How do you let's three phases 260 pound fullback was he 260?

Matt Every [00:05:54]:

Yeah. Are you kidding me?

Scott Riley [00:05:55]:

He's massive.

Matt Every [00:05:57]:

He's an up man.

Josh Scobee [00:05:58]:

He had no clue he was going to get the ball right, and then he gets the ball and all of a sudden he's running four three and breaking tackles.

Matt Every [00:06:07]:

Not only did he get that, he didn't get the ball, he fumbled it. It was like, oh, God, what do I do? And then I'm just going to pick it up and run. Next thing you know, he's walking into the end zone.

Josh Scobee [00:06:16]:

Now. That was embarrassing.

Aron Price [00:06:18]:

I am optimistic that if there's a reset button for the Jags, it's going to be london really seem to play well there.

Matt Every [00:06:24]:

You played why do you think the Jags play well in London?

Josh Scobee [00:06:26]:

You kind of get away from here, get away from the noise for a little while and you kind of just reset and you get to eat some crappy food.

Aron Price [00:06:36]:

Fish and chips.

Josh Scobee [00:06:37]:

Yeah.

Scott Riley [00:06:38]:

Are you making that trip? Have you done that trip before?

Josh Scobee [00:06:40]:

I've done that trip a couple of times after I retired and it's a lot of fun. As a non player, go there and see the city. There's a lot of things to do, but as a player, it's a business trip and you get a little bit of downtime every now and again, but for the most part, you're there to play football.

Aron Price [00:07:01]:

A lot of people go over that.

Josh Scobee [00:07:02]:

Yeah, a lot of people from Jacksonville go.

Aron Price [00:07:05]:

Ted Baker was going up there. He flew up with us. I know a couple of people from Pontovidrina going over.

Josh Scobee [00:07:11]:

Yeah, you can buy your way there and you could actually ride on the team plane if you wanted, but it's pretty expensive.

Scott Riley [00:07:17]:

Well, going for back to back games, if you were planning you had enough time, that's a great trip. You get to see the sights for a week, catch two ball games and head on back.

Josh Scobee [00:07:27]:

It's actually not a bad idea. I'd like to do it again. I went three or four years ago and the NFL actually paid me to go. Like, invite me to do that again. Please pay me to go. And all I had to do was go to parties and sign autographs and stuff.

Aron Price [00:07:42]:

I'll even do it cheaper next year.

Josh Scobee [00:07:43]:

Yeah, seriously, give me a I'll go.

Aron Price [00:07:48]:

Actually, the NRL, the rugby in Australia, they're doing that now. They're coming to Vegas this year. March, the first Saturday or weekend of March, there's two games that these four Australian teams, two games are coming over and doing the similar thing, but in Vegas.

Matt Every [00:08:01]:

Speaking of rugby, they got to outlaw that sneak play going on in the NFL the push, push, push.

Josh Scobee [00:08:07]:

It looks I thought that was illegal. I thought it was too.

Matt Every [00:08:11]:

Growing up, I always thought you couldn't have the running back push you from behind the Reggie Bush push.

Josh Scobee [00:08:17]:

Back in the day, Reggie Bush just.

Matt Every [00:08:18]:

Got fucked so many ways. I mean, so many. He did.

Josh Scobee [00:08:22]:

I got a good Reggie Bush.

Scott Riley [00:08:26]:

Story.

Josh Scobee [00:08:26]:

Golf story.

Matt Every [00:08:28]:

He's really good at golf.

Josh Scobee [00:08:29]:

He's gotten really good. He used to be terrible, but we used to do this tournament, NFL versus NBA. Current and former players. Aaron Rodgers was the NFL host and Chris Paul was the NBA host. And the first year we did it was in Connecticut where the Mohegan Sun is there. And we were playing a four ball. So best ball by how many? Yours? I think there were twelve on each team. So I was like the a player.

Josh Scobee [00:08:58]:

So they put me with Reggie Bush, and he was flying in on a helicopter from New York City and he was late. And they'd tell me, hey, he's not going to make it to like the fourth or fifth hole. And I was playing against Ray Allen and Michael. Not Michael Jordan, but someone named for Ray Allen. Yeah, pretty much. They put us off last, and Reggie doesn't show up till like, the fifth hole. And I'm like, screw it, I'm just going to beat these guys outright. We end up winning.

Josh Scobee [00:09:29]:

And when he showed up on the fifth hole, he starts like, practicing chipping balls on the green. And Ray Allen comes to me. He's like, you better tell this dude to stop hitting balls. He's like, I'm going to disqualify you. I'm like, all right, I'll tell him. So he stops, and we didn't take a single shot of his. We took my ball the entire way, and we ended up beating him. That's great.

Josh Scobee [00:09:48]:

Allen's pretty good. He's really good.

Aron Price [00:09:51]:

He's notorious for golf. Like goes lone wolf before teasing the ground every fifth. If there's a fivesome, always goes lone wolf.

Matt Every [00:10:00]:

I do too. If it lines up right. If I'm not giving up strokes on a par three, I'll do it.

Scott Riley [00:10:07]:

So how did you get into golf? Did you play growing up or when you got to the league?

Josh Scobee [00:10:13]:

I wish. If I could have afforded it growing up, I probably would have played golf. But my wife's dad played in college, and when we met, he bought me lessons for Christmas one year. And that's when I'd started. So basically, shit, I was 22 when I got going.

Matt Every [00:10:31]:

Where'd he play at?

Josh Scobee [00:10:33]:

University of Louisiana, Monroe. So Ulm back then it was NLU, but I think he played a couple of years, but he was obsessed with it. And he got me hooked.

Matt Every [00:10:42]:

You've been obsessed for a long time. Long time.

Josh Scobee [00:10:45]:

Since I mean, that was the beauty of coming to Jacksonville, where I could have gone somewhere else. But I luckily got drafted here because there's a charity event every monday in the spring. So we got invited to go to every event. I went to all of them and just got hooked and started taking lessons and then got into tournament golf. And then that was a whole new ordeal. And I'm like, I can't really do well. It's a seven or eight handicap in tournament golf.

Scott Riley [00:11:13]:

I mean, I can't think of a better sport, though, for a kicker to find and transition into. I mean, compare the level of focus that goes into prepping for a kick versus golf.

Aron Price [00:11:25]:

You and your 20s was like, us, just the bug session. But it is like you need that to get better. You're not going to get better if you don't have the bug.

Josh Scobee [00:11:33]:

Yeah, well, if you don't want to get better. But the correlation between kicking and golf, it's so it's everything similar pitches, everything.

Aron Price [00:11:42]:

Archery, shooting. There's only a few.

Matt Every [00:11:44]:

Yeah.

Aron Price [00:11:45]:

Non reactionary.

Scott Riley [00:11:46]:

You're very intense on the golf course, and I just can't imagine what that was like on the football field because you have the threat of getting ripped.

Josh Scobee [00:11:55]:

Yeah, I grew up playing.

Aron Price [00:11:57]:

That's the athletic thing, I think.

Matt Every [00:12:01]:

What's the hardest I want to know something real quick.

Aron Price [00:12:03]:

I'll forget it.

Matt Every [00:12:05]:

What's the hardest you ever got hit on the football field?

Josh Scobee [00:12:07]:

Hardest ever got hit.

Matt Every [00:12:08]:

Like block, kick. You're scrambling, trying to tackle a guy. You get blindside, block. That ever happened.

Josh Scobee [00:12:13]:

Anything that fortunately never happened. The hardest I got hit was by.

Matt Every [00:12:18]:

Saving a kickoff return for a touchdown.

Josh Scobee [00:12:20]:

That I met a guy on the sideline. I think he's going to run out of bounds. I'm the last person there and he just turns it up field. As soon as we get to the sideline, it's like shoulder and hits me right in the ribs, and I go flying. And I don't think I took a breath for a couple minutes.

Matt Every [00:12:39]:

All right, what were we talking about?

Aron Price [00:12:40]:

So you said SCOBY is intense. It was the athletic thing. I have played with an NFL I haven't played with too many NFL players, but I've played with one that was more intense.

Josh Scobee [00:12:47]:

Who's that?

Aron Price [00:12:48]:

Robbie Gould.

Josh Scobee [00:12:49]:

He's more intense than me.

Scott Riley [00:12:51]:

He just got intense thinking about it.

Aron Price [00:12:55]:

And I guess he just wanted to shoot a score. He was playing well, but I played a little bit with Wakefield. All intense. I think it's the athletic thing. It's got nothing to do with the golfing. It's just the personality of you have yourself to blame it's all on you. So you can sort of with a team sport, you can do everything right and lose, and it's like, oh, well, I did what I could do.

Scott Riley [00:13:17]:

But I think with golf, the buck.

Aron Price [00:13:19]:

Stops with you, so you can be even more competitive.

Scott Riley [00:13:21]:

You can also play really well when you're laid back, and if you try and force intensity, you could be even better.

Matt Every [00:13:29]:

Don't listen to that crap, Josh. Listen. Yeah, I've tried all the hardest thing in the world is to try less when you care. It's impossible.

Josh Scobee [00:13:39]:

Yeah, I've tried to play rounds where I'm fully focused on every single shot and it just becomes too much. Where you're exhausted, mentally exhausted.

Matt Every [00:13:50]:

And obviously you felt that way when it was when it was cold and windy. I always felt like I was more and I know maybe the weather has something to do with it, but when I got done, I felt mentally more exhausted than anything. You're not the only one throwing stuff in, I guess.

Aron Price [00:14:08]:

More elements, 25 miles an hour.

Matt Every [00:14:11]:

Pay attention to all the time.

Aron Price [00:14:13]:

Your heart's more in your mouth when the shots in the air, because there's more shit can go wrong, I guess. But there's stuff that helps that. Maybe a little Casamigas or something.

Josh Scobee [00:14:21]:

Yeah, there's a lot that helps that.

Matt Every [00:14:23]:

That'S allowed in the tournaments you play in the celebrity events.

Josh Scobee [00:14:27]:

Almost encouraged, really.

Aron Price [00:14:28]:

It's allowed in mid am golf, I think. You can play the US medium. You can be just no way.

Josh Scobee [00:14:33]:

No way.

Scott Riley [00:14:33]:

Nobody's policing it if it's only the mid am.

Aron Price [00:14:36]:

That's not all those other ones, they play the Crump Cup, which was at Pine Valley. All of it. Of course, they say it's like Crump Cup.

Scott Riley [00:14:43]:

You can drink drinks at the turn.

Aron Price [00:14:45]:

They say, like, the key to mid am golf is green speeds and buzz.

Josh Scobee [00:14:51]:

That well, I played a celebrity event back in July. And speaking of temper, I've really tried to bring my temper down and not get so mad about golf.

Matt Every [00:15:02]:

Think you could beat Stuart haggerstone.

Josh Scobee [00:15:04]:

Probably not. Yeah, he's one kind of turn pro.

Aron Price [00:15:10]:

Stuart, you should stop playing those.

Josh Scobee [00:15:12]:

Well, I don't have amateur status because I play in these celebrity but I played in this one in Coeur d'alene, Idaho, where that famous, like, par three island green that they have there.

Aron Price [00:15:25]:

It moves, right?

Josh Scobee [00:15:26]:

Yeah, they can move it to whatever yardage they want. But I got some new perspective there because the first round I played, I had the full blown shanks.

Matt Every [00:15:36]:

Was that like irons?

Josh Scobee [00:15:38]:

It was short irons because it was a short course. The year before, I finished second, I should have won. This time I'm like I'm winning. I'm winning. So I pipe a drive on the second hole. Nine iron gone.

Aron Price [00:15:52]:

And I'm like, oh, German tanks.

Matt Every [00:15:54]:

Do you do that a lot?

Josh Scobee [00:15:55]:

No.

Matt Every [00:15:55]:

Really?

Josh Scobee [00:15:56]:

So I had five in that round and five three putts, and I shot 78. So I was playing good other than those, but it was like a pro am. But my round counted. And I played with this guy who was in a motorized wheelchair who was paralyzed from the waist down, and he was their club champion there, and he beat me that day. We're playing the same teeth, and he beat me. And afterwards, I'm like, all right, there's no more complaining because that guy just beat me.

Scott Riley [00:16:27]:

Right? We were just up in Atlanta for the Kyle Pease Foundation. It's a charity that supports disabled athletes and gives them access into really a lot of races, like the River Run and Iron Man. But I got to play with a guy, Alex Fory, he's a one handed golfer. He's born without a right arm, just plays with his left arm, tees it up about four inches high, and he was out driving everybody. It was the most amazing thing to see and talk about perspective. I mean, I was getting off to a little bit of a slow start and like, man, I got him on the struggle bus. But looking over here, this guy's just cutting jokes, making fun of himself. It was pretty special.

Scott Riley [00:17:11]:

And it's nice to get humbled every now and then.

Josh Scobee [00:17:14]:

It is. It helped me.

Matt Every [00:17:15]:

Sounds like you need to get in the gym.

Josh Scobee [00:17:20]:

Sounds pretty big.

Scott Riley [00:17:24]:

I'm exaggerating. I was pumping it by him. So you playing in another charity or a celebrity. What was the bar stool event that you just played in?

Josh Scobee [00:17:37]:

Yeah, we were in Charlotte. So they do these year round qualifiers for the end of the year barstool championship that they do at Greyhawk in Scottsdale. They've done it at Pinehurst for a couple of years and now it's at Greyhawk.

Aron Price [00:17:53]:

That's a bad shift.

Matt Every [00:17:55]:

Terrible shift.

Josh Scobee [00:17:56]:

Yeah, pinehurst is so good, but Pinehurst, when you're there, they don't care. They have so many people playing there that they're not worried about a tournament or that many people being there for that tournament. But anyway, so my partner and I, Brian Walters, who was a wide receiver in the league for six or seven years, we went up and played in it and qualified. I think we finished tied for first.

Aron Price [00:18:20]:

But is this celebrity non celebrity?

Josh Scobee [00:18:22]:

This is just whoever?

Matt Every [00:18:23]:

Yeah. How many teams they take in those qualifiers?

Josh Scobee [00:18:26]:

Four out of I think there's six.

Matt Every [00:18:28]:

You're going to greyhawk.

Aron Price [00:18:29]:

Yeah.

Josh Scobee [00:18:29]:

So we qualified last year.

Matt Every [00:18:31]:

What's your handicap in that?

Josh Scobee [00:18:33]:

Like a plus one.

Matt Every [00:18:35]:

So you're giving up a shot on.

Josh Scobee [00:18:36]:

A hole so they zero it out. So the lowest handicap in the field, I'll probably be getting a shot or two.

Matt Every [00:18:44]:

Oh, really?

Scott Riley [00:18:45]:

Yeah, you'd be playing against some other.

Josh Scobee [00:18:46]:

There'S some guys there that show up that are plus three, plus four.

Matt Every [00:18:49]:

Oh, wow.

Josh Scobee [00:18:49]:

Yeah.

Aron Price [00:18:50]:

So they go to zero and everyone yeah.

Josh Scobee [00:18:52]:

So that helps me giving me a shot on because it never happens. Other than these type of tournament, is.

Aron Price [00:18:59]:

Everyone like a single digit or a couple of oh, no, there's 15 handicaps.

Josh Scobee [00:19:03]:

And in those tournaments, especially the Barstool one, the better handicaps are you get.

Matt Every [00:19:08]:

Money for the Barstool one?

Josh Scobee [00:19:09]:

Only if you win.

Aron Price [00:19:10]:

What is it?

Josh Scobee [00:19:11]:

I think it's ten grand.

Matt Every [00:19:12]:

What's the most you've won in a celebrity event?

Josh Scobee [00:19:15]:

I think 40.

Aron Price [00:19:16]:

Really?

Josh Scobee [00:19:17]:

Yeah.

Matt Every [00:19:17]:

That was a win.

Josh Scobee [00:19:18]:

That was like third place or something.

Matt Every [00:19:20]:

At the Accenture one.

Josh Scobee [00:19:21]:

Tahoe tahoe. I can't remember what I got for that. I finished third in that. The one in who was beating you.

Matt Every [00:19:30]:

When you were playing in that?

Josh Scobee [00:19:32]:

Mark Mulder and Jack Wagner. No, he's too old.

Aron Price [00:19:37]:

They play like this is a couture they're playing not really all the time.

Josh Scobee [00:19:41]:

No, they just get invited to all of these. I don't get invited to all the ones. They invited to politics. Don't even get me started on that. But it's like Marty Fish, who's a former tennis player, he's really good. And Mark Mulder. But if I played actually, we had a final round together, the three of us, in San Diego, like, five years ago, and I waxed them.

Matt Every [00:20:03]:

Really?

Josh Scobee [00:20:04]:

Yeah. But they're both really good players.

Scott Riley [00:20:07]:

You had a look there at Tahoe one year.

Matt Every [00:20:10]:

I remember that.

Josh Scobee [00:20:10]:

Yeah, I had the course record.

Matt Every [00:20:13]:

Nervous? Were you nervous? Not really, no.

Aron Price [00:20:16]:

UV. Steph Curry. Good match.

Josh Scobee [00:20:19]:

Crush him.

Matt Every [00:20:20]:

He's really good.

Josh Scobee [00:20:21]:

But he's clutch.

Aron Price [00:20:23]:

He's clutch. He plays good in those province, which is a hard thing.

Josh Scobee [00:20:26]:

Correct.

Aron Price [00:20:26]:

Translate.

Josh Scobee [00:20:27]:

Which is he's really good. Don't get me wrong, but if we played ten times, I'd beat him nine times.

Aron Price [00:20:33]:

All right.

Matt Every [00:20:34]:

You wanted to say ten there.

Josh Scobee [00:20:36]:

I beat him ten times. Yeah, you would.

Aron Price [00:20:39]:

He did hold his own. Not pressure, but when he played those web.com or something we just had Sam.

Matt Every [00:20:47]:

Ryder in here and he played with him that event at the Cornfield he said he beat I heard that story.

Josh Scobee [00:20:51]:

Did he really?

Matt Every [00:20:52]:

In the first day.

Aron Price [00:20:52]:

Wow.

Matt Every [00:20:53]:

Sam had just won two weeks earlier.

Josh Scobee [00:20:55]:

He's good.

Matt Every [00:20:56]:

Yeah.

Josh Scobee [00:20:56]:

I'll give him that.

Matt Every [00:20:57]:

Talk about that feeling earlier, about going through your body when you make kicks, how you kind of numb until you.

Josh Scobee [00:21:03]:

Aren'T, until the adrenaline wears off.

Matt Every [00:21:05]:

Right. But you can't reproduce that other than doing what you did. Sam talked about it, too. Where? When he made that hole in one in Phoenix, how his lower lip wouldn't stop shaking.

Josh Scobee [00:21:19]:

He couldn't make it stop. Yes.

Matt Every [00:21:21]:

I mean, that's primal. It is. It's got to be similar to you, I guess. You have a helmet on so people can't see, but there were plenty of.

Josh Scobee [00:21:30]:

Times when I would get out there and you start your walk off, so you go three steps back and multiple times where I'd start my walk off and I couldn't feel my lower body, like, completely numb.

Scott Riley [00:21:44]:

Just going through the motion.

Josh Scobee [00:21:45]:

Yeah. And I'm like, what is going on? So then take my stance and I'm getting ready. I'm like, Am I going to be able to swing? And it's just adrenaline.

Matt Every [00:21:54]:

Without getting too technical, how you've had to have felt that, do you know right away if you've missed it or not? Like, right off the foot?

Josh Scobee [00:22:02]:

Oh, yeah, pretty much. Unless it's really windy and you're playing it off the wind. But for the most part, you know, the strike just like golf. I mean, as soon as you've made contact, you have that feeling of it was a little off.

Matt Every [00:22:16]:

It's similar to golf, too, in the distance as well. I remember being when I first started dialing in on the NFL, like, whatever age that was, 50 yards was a freaking bomb, dude. Like 52 was a bomb. Now it feels like every guy in the league's got 58 in the bag.

Scott Riley [00:22:33]:

It's Justin Tucker. Kicked a 62 yarder, like, every other week.

Josh Scobee [00:22:37]:

Yeah. And you're like, I guess he made another one.

Matt Every [00:22:39]:

Ho hum. Even the college that's comparing people to so why do you think that is? Just training.

Josh Scobee [00:22:46]:

It's just the evolution of it getting better. Younger kids are getting bigger, stronger, better training, same golf. They're figuring out how to get the ball broken in to where it'll go farther.

Matt Every [00:22:58]:

Yeah.

Josh Scobee [00:22:58]:

That's huge, because whenever I first got in the league, they'd give us a brand new ball and we'd barely break it in, and then it's in the game.

Matt Every [00:23:05]:

Did you have a kicking coach throughout, or did you kind of do your own stuff?

Josh Scobee [00:23:09]:

I did, starting in my 7th year.

Matt Every [00:23:12]:

Wow.

Josh Scobee [00:23:13]:

And he was in Scottsdale.

Matt Every [00:23:14]:

You're pretty raw for I was raw.

Josh Scobee [00:23:17]:

My entire career because I didn't start kicking till my senior year of high school.

Matt Every [00:23:22]:

Wow.

Josh Scobee [00:23:22]:

So I just got into it late, and most guys kind of get into.

Matt Every [00:23:25]:

It late because I think there's something to that, not just in kicking, but you can handle the climb mentally.

Josh Scobee [00:23:32]:

Well, I played every other sport but football, but most guys get into it late because you don't really develop the leg strength you need until later in life.

Aron Price [00:23:43]:

That go out kicking for the Cowboys now. Is that right? He's never played.

Matt Every [00:23:50]:

He might have been a backup for a week and got in or something.

Josh Scobee [00:23:53]:

Yeah, I mean, that happens a lot. That's a normal thing.

Aron Price [00:23:56]:

Lawrence Tynes didn't start till later. He was in Scotland. His dad was over there, and he played soccer.

Josh Scobee [00:24:01]:

Janakowski, same thing. One year of high.

Matt Every [00:24:04]:

Volusia county. Janakowski, cover your drink when you go to the bathroom.

Scott Riley [00:24:12]:

When did the NFL become like, a dream or a picture in your mind?

Josh Scobee [00:24:17]:

Probably my junior year, my sophomore year, I was All American. I was good, but I didn't know if I had a chance or not. I was playing at Louisiana Tech. Small school.

Matt Every [00:24:31]:

Right.

Josh Scobee [00:24:31]:

So you don't really know. But my junior year, I started getting letters and we played at Kansas State and we got drummed. I mean, like 54 to ten or some big score. So I didn't have very many kicks, but I had two kickoffs where we had celebration penalties, so I had to kick them off from the 20, and I kicked them through the end zone, and the crowd was, like, cheering for me. And their coach came up to me after the game and was like, I can't wait to watch you kick on Sundays.

Matt Every [00:25:06]:

And I was like, all right, yeah.

Josh Scobee [00:25:08]:

I got a chance. Was that bill Snyder. Yeah. So when I retired from the NFL, I got in touch with him to thank him. I'm like, you were the first guy.

Aron Price [00:25:18]:

To tell me, put the bug in.

Matt Every [00:25:21]:

Your ear, that I would imagine that it's the same for pretty much every position at the level that like a law tech where you might know, but do you know if you're good enough? I mean, we're not playing in the SEC here. It's like a sick receiver. I guess you have the combine now where you can go, but kickers, geez, man, that's like kickers.

Josh Scobee [00:25:43]:

I mean, like you said, you can be found. Like they'll find you.

Matt Every [00:25:46]:

Yeah, it's different for other lifespan, too. I mean, if you see a guy like, who are the two brothers that came out of Florida State? It started with an A. Their last name?

Scott Riley [00:25:56]:

Oh, Aguayo.

Josh Scobee [00:25:57]:

Aguayo. Yeah. Roberto.

Matt Every [00:25:58]:

Remember, they both were like, world Beaters. And then you get your look. This guy got the right off the rip, gets the yips, and you never hear from him again.

Josh Scobee [00:26:06]:

He had the third round in college, but that's why just didn't develop them until the NFL.

Aron Price [00:26:11]:

But that's why kicking, pitching, archery, shooting, golf, they're like in a group that's completely different, like tennis, football, everything's reactionary. You got that space between your kicker. Kickers have got more than golf. They might not even have anything on the line until the last minute of the game. They haven't even kicked the field. Maybe Pats, but it's happened. It's so much shit goes through your brain.

Matt Every [00:26:33]:

I could imagine. You got these big old friggin warriors going at it all game, and it's coming down to whitey over, especially if.

Aron Price [00:26:41]:

One of them breaks the line.

Josh Scobee [00:26:43]:

And then when you miss, then you hear it. And, I mean, that happened to me the last game of my career in, you know, miss a potential game winning field goal. And these guys hate mean Snoop Dogg.

Matt Every [00:26:56]:

They hated you already.

Josh Scobee [00:26:57]:

They already hated me, but they hated me.

Aron Price [00:26:59]:

Fucking Snoop Dogg got on Twitter, I was like, that ain't cool.

Matt Every [00:27:01]:

Did he?

Aron Price [00:27:02]:

Oh, yeah. He set them all alight up there.

Matt Every [00:27:05]:

I forget you get in some trouble on Twitter, don't you?

Josh Scobee [00:27:08]:

Didn't you say something about Tiger? Yes.

Matt Every [00:27:10]:

No, that's not yeah, you did. That was a joke.

Aron Price [00:27:15]:

That's why the written word is dangerous, because the written word can be perceived differently from how you intended it. Sure is.

Scott Riley [00:27:21]:

So you kicked forever in Jacksonville. I guess we couldn't afford you anymore, and you wound up in Pittsburgh, probably the hardest stadium to kick in in the league. That's a tough deal, especially at the end of the career. Do you start to feel like you're losing your leg, your distance?

Josh Scobee [00:27:35]:

Oh, heck, yeah. And that's one of the reasons why I retired. Because when I was there, I was injured. I had, like, a pulled quad, so I wasn't kicking to my full potential. And. Then every time I tried to rehab it and come back, it just got worse, and so I just felt it was time to be done.

Aron Price [00:27:53]:

We had played golf with Adam Podlesh, and he went to Chicago. You went to Pittsburgh and Chicago, get two bigger know there's indoor but outdoor stadiums. You got the jags.

Matt Every [00:28:03]:

I always say if you're a quarterback or a kicker and you get drafted to Chicago, good luck, man. That's got to be the worst place.

Aron Price [00:28:10]:

Ever to Soldier Field in December.

Josh Scobee [00:28:13]:

That's why I have a lot of respect for Robbie Gold, for kicking most of his career in Chicago and having.

Aron Price [00:28:20]:

A crazy good field goal percentage and then San Francisco. Is he still kicking this?

Josh Scobee [00:28:24]:

No, he I think he's retired because.

Aron Price [00:28:26]:

He was kicking great last he I don't think he missed at home last year or something. He was still crushing stats.

Matt Every [00:28:34]:

What was worse last week? McManus's missed the blocked field goal in the wide right or the attempt to tackle the fullback.

Josh Scobee [00:28:46]:

That was mean. I don't want to say anything bad.

Aron Price [00:28:49]:

About him because where's Darren?

Josh Scobee [00:28:51]:

Been out with him a couple of weeks.

Matt Every [00:28:53]:

I want to hang out with him, too.

Josh Scobee [00:28:55]:

That was not a good look, but I was like, Is he really that slow? When he shocked me, it was like it looked real very nonchalant person, just real relaxed.

Matt Every [00:29:07]:

How old is he?

Aron Price [00:29:08]:

Well, he was in Denver probably years.

Josh Scobee [00:29:10]:

31 ish okay. Yeah, but he looked very slow. But I was on the field.

Aron Price [00:29:15]:

I didn't like the wide right.

Josh Scobee [00:29:16]:

Yeah, well, that's what I was about to talk about. I was on the field in Pregame, and I watched his entire warm up, and he missed half of them wide right, and then he went to what does that mean?

Matt Every [00:29:28]:

Normally just it's kind of like club.

Josh Scobee [00:29:32]:

Face open at impact. It's like a block, basically.

Matt Every [00:29:35]:

I understand it's a block, but what is not happening what's happening for your.

Josh Scobee [00:29:39]:

Shoulders or hips are typically not closed yet, so they're too open and you're just blocking it.

Aron Price [00:29:47]:

It's an alignment underneath the plane line.

Josh Scobee [00:29:49]:

Yeah, it could happen that way, too. If you cut underneath the ball too much, it can go right. But I'd noticed it in Pregame, and.

Aron Price [00:29:57]:

I'm like, the whole team was off. They must have a spell or something. It was a bad day for everyone.

Josh Scobee [00:30:05]:

I thought the same thing. It was like they gave.

Matt Every [00:30:12]:

I think the NFL comes down every week. It comes down to about four or five plays, and that fucking touchdown. They got the ball first, three and out, just like it's supposed to happen. We get the ball, drive down the field, second and ten on their 30 or whatever, and Trevor just puts perfect. Beautiful pass right here. And he drops it. Dude, that changed the whole game. Yeah, momentum and 70, and they just went three and out.

Matt Every [00:30:40]:

And we get the ball and set not that that matters then, but it just inserts what we're here to do, some dominance.

Josh Scobee [00:30:48]:

And I said that to someone on Monday. I'm like, I think if he catches that ball, it's like the Texans go, oh, shit. We don't have a chance.

Aron Price [00:30:56]:

You can't have to rely on that momentum first.

Scott Riley [00:30:59]:

It's like match play. You keep somebody in it.

Aron Price [00:31:02]:

I don't know.

Scott Riley [00:31:03]:

I got a question about icing the kicker. Does that really work?

Josh Scobee [00:31:06]:

No, the coaches think it works. But if you're ready, then you're ready. We've been waiting this whole time anyway. We can wait a little bit longer.

Matt Every [00:31:18]:

That's true, what I thought of that.

Josh Scobee [00:31:19]:

Yeah.

Scott Riley [00:31:19]:

Like the practice one where they call a timeout right before the snap, like.

Josh Scobee [00:31:22]:

All right, that one. You should never kick the ball.

Scott Riley [00:31:26]:

Yeah.

Aron Price [00:31:26]:

All right. Because the snappers try to get it off if they blow the whistle just to give the go ahead on the kick.

Matt Every [00:31:30]:

But okay.

Josh Scobee [00:31:31]:

I would never kick it.

Matt Every [00:31:33]:

Did you see who was the team that came up with the blocked kick the other day? The guy came in from the corner.

Scott Riley [00:31:39]:

Passed against the Dolphins Patriots.

Josh Scobee [00:31:41]:

Oh, I didn't see that.

Matt Every [00:31:42]:

You didn't see that?

Josh Scobee [00:31:43]:

Okay.

Matt Every [00:31:44]:

So this guy lined up like he was covering a wide receiver, but there was nobody out there. The second the holder, they had it timed down to the I don't know how many looks they give or whatever, but he timed it.

Josh Scobee [00:31:56]:

The looks.

Matt Every [00:31:56]:

He starts sprinting down the line of scrimmage towards the holder.

Josh Scobee [00:32:02]:

Yes.

Matt Every [00:32:03]:

And then right when he snaps, it cuts over and blocks.

Josh Scobee [00:32:05]:

I've never seen that.

Matt Every [00:32:06]:

It was like a cheat code.

Josh Scobee [00:32:08]:

I got to look at that.

Aron Price [00:32:09]:

That's cool. They need more of that.

Matt Every [00:32:11]:

Yeah, it was super cool.

Josh Scobee [00:32:12]:

Special teams coach going, all right, we're going to try this. And if it works, then other people are going to I saw other people.

Matt Every [00:32:18]:

Trying it last week. They didn't get it, but it was.

Josh Scobee [00:32:21]:

You got to time that up perfectly.

Aron Price [00:32:22]:

I once asked a coach, maybe it was Joe Deaconilla or something, about why more of that doesn't happen. He goes because it's risky. You pull it off, you're a legend. You don't pull it off, you're fired.

Josh Scobee [00:32:33]:

That's true.

Matt Every [00:32:34]:

Because if it's an extra point, who cares, right.

Josh Scobee [00:32:38]:

But a field goal, if it's less than fourth and five, then boom, first.

Aron Price [00:32:42]:

Down, we'll say it's entertaining for the consumer. I love watching those, I'm sure, crazy play.

Josh Scobee [00:32:46]:

You do consumer.

Aron Price [00:32:48]:

Oh, I am.

Josh Scobee [00:32:49]:

You're not getting fired from your job.

Scott Riley [00:32:51]:

He's consumer heavy. Consumer. Where do we get back from this.

Aron Price [00:32:58]:

Week price up at Congo Congressional. 36 holes yesterday. I'm tired today.

Scott Riley [00:33:04]:

Did you carry your own bag?

Matt Every [00:33:05]:

Did you walk?

Aron Price [00:33:06]:

No, we had caddies.

Matt Every [00:33:07]:

Did you walk?

Josh Scobee [00:33:08]:

36.

Matt Every [00:33:09]:

Wow.

Aron Price [00:33:09]:

I ran the last five because we run out of time. We had to get moving. So the two other guys we were playing with just sat in the cart and I just ran them. Really? Yeah, it's good. It's tough from the very back. Looks pretty impossible.

Matt Every [00:33:23]:

Took out a ton of very pretty the last redo.

Aron Price [00:33:25]:

Yeah, 4000 or something.

Matt Every [00:33:27]:

I liked it with the tree. I like courses with trees, man. This whole new thing where we're just gutting everything out.

Aron Price [00:33:32]:

I'm on the other side airfield. I like the panoramic view. I love it.

Matt Every [00:33:35]:

You must hate the environment. What else do you hate?

Aron Price [00:33:42]:

We don't have enough time.

Scott Riley [00:33:44]:

What about any golf trips planned for the fall there Josh.

Josh Scobee [00:33:49]:

Let's see, the bar stool one is in early December and then early November go back up to the Great Green course of Augusta.

Aron Price [00:34:00]:

That's pretty nice.

Matt Every [00:34:01]:

What are you, a once a year guy there?

Josh Scobee [00:34:03]:

Yeah. This should be twice this year. Even Peyton, I might see him there. I'm always wondering who is going to be there. So when we get there, the member that I go with gets a sheet of the member and the guests that are there. So we'll check it because he's kind of like a celebrity guy. Like he wants to know too. And every time we'll see someone like, yeah, we'll get to see them.

Aron Price [00:34:28]:

That was like, I guess, the Grove 23. It's good to be down there when Jordan's playing and it's sort of not that cool if he's not playing every day. Yeah, that's what's going to serve Pittsburgh. Not to bring back up that memory, but did you play like, Oakmont, Fox Chapel?

Josh Scobee [00:34:43]:

Did you get them in the second one? What was the one you said?

Aron Price [00:34:47]:

Fox Chapel.

Josh Scobee [00:34:48]:

I don't think I was supposed to play Oakmont the day after I got cut and I couldn't have been more happy. I was ready to be leaving that city. But yeah.

Matt Every [00:35:01]:

You guys still lived here when my family stayed here.

Josh Scobee [00:35:05]:

So I went up there and rented a hotel room.

Matt Every [00:35:10]:

I bet it was very if I.

Josh Scobee [00:35:12]:

Could go back, I would have brought them with.

Aron Price [00:35:14]:

Yeah, that doesn't help anything. Especially like bass. Pitching your outside environment is very important to how you oh, absolutely. One psychologist back in the street say you didn't need to have your room clean if you want to compete. It's different from getting out there and Price playing quarterback or whatever.

Matt Every [00:35:33]:

Not only is he a realtor, he moonlights as a sports psychologist.

Aron Price [00:35:37]:

I would actually just go with my philosopher.

Matt Every [00:35:40]:

I love that we're getting business cards.

Aron Price [00:35:44]:

I did complete a pretty cool contract in between 18. So we went straight from the gold. We had to go straight to the blue. And I was like, guys, I can't edit these dot loops from my phone. It just doesn't work. So I was like, Give me like five minutes. So I went in the locker room, pulled my computer, got on the WiFi, had to change like the lead based paint agreement. Just put all the initials in.

Aron Price [00:36:04]:

Boom. Sent them off. Multitasker normally not good, but the world.

Scott Riley [00:36:10]:

Is your office pricey just working?

Aron Price [00:36:12]:

Not always.

Scott Riley [00:36:12]:

From the locker room at Congressional, closing.

Aron Price [00:36:14]:

Out deals like those guys were joking yesterday I said I've played a lot of golf this summer, but I've never sacrificed a dealer. How I get paid is obviously paramount. And some trips I don't go on because I've got deals going on. But had a little and once with the transaction process, once you threw inspection out, there is a 1520 day gap where you don't have to do much. So then you can go on the golf trips. So Streamsong is calling my name soon.

Josh Scobee [00:36:41]:

Do you drive down there?

Aron Price [00:36:42]:

Yeah, I've never been.

Matt Every [00:36:43]:

He's taking a chopper?

Josh Scobee [00:36:46]:

I don't know. He knows Robert Baker, so you never know.

Aron Price [00:36:51]:

We were supposed to be on that to the Grove. We got booted from golf trip. None of the trip was on. We just had to draw.

Matt Every [00:36:59]:

Got booted from the plane. Oh, yeah.

Josh Scobee [00:37:01]:

That's not that bad of a drive.

Aron Price [00:37:02]:

That was easy.

Matt Every [00:37:04]:

Where you say your Stream song? That place? Have you been there, Josh?

Josh Scobee [00:37:07]:

Yeah, once.

Matt Every [00:37:08]:

Was it, like, nice out when you went?

Scott Riley [00:37:10]:

It was hot.

Matt Every [00:37:11]:

Summer.

Aron Price [00:37:11]:

It's brutal.

Josh Scobee [00:37:12]:

Yeah, it was pretty hot. I think we were June, middle of June. But, I mean, it was fun. It was before they had opened the black. We just played red and blue.

Aron Price [00:37:23]:

Yeah, they did the two best.

Matt Every [00:37:24]:

What's your favorite golf trip you've been on?

Aron Price [00:37:27]:

Have you done Bandoned?

Josh Scobee [00:37:28]:

I don't it's not for me. It's too far. I could go to Europe and get somewhere faster than it's got to be. Augusta, I mean, I've been there quite a few times, but nothing beats that for me. And especially I get to bring two friends every time. So I like to bring I like to bring two guys that live here, drew Westfall, and it's his brother's name Damon. But I like to bring guys that would appreciate it.

Scott Riley [00:38:02]:

You just bucket listed them.

Josh Scobee [00:38:04]:

And the guys that I'm bringing are they try and play all the Golf Digest top 100 courses. That's their goal in their life.

Matt Every [00:38:14]:

I got it. That's another good thing. We could talk about who the hell.

Josh Scobee [00:38:18]:

Rates gets to pick morons.

Matt Every [00:38:20]:

The top hundred are, well, subjective, but.

Aron Price [00:38:22]:

There'S two lists, so I'm not trying to tick them off, but I'm trying to play them. But same Golf Magazine and Golf Digest.

Josh Scobee [00:38:28]:

And I don't yeah, does one as well.

Aron Price [00:38:30]:

So, like, Shane Bacon gets a pencil and all this. He's trying to do them from 2010. It's his list. I'm like, if I've heard of it, I want to go play it. So they're not in there, but we were in DC this week and Bethesda Country Club and Burning Tree. I'm like, I've heard of them. I want to play them. That's where I'm at.

Matt Every [00:38:49]:

Burning Tree. We got a Pablo's got a guy there.

Aron Price [00:38:52]:

Yeah.

Scott Riley [00:38:53]:

Charlie, do you hammer the pro shop when you're up there.

Josh Scobee [00:38:55]:

Oh, yeah.

Matt Every [00:38:56]:

And I always have requests over under three grand.

Josh Scobee [00:39:00]:

It's typically under that, but the last trip we took in May, between the three of us, we spent over ten grand. Really? Yeah. I think I spent 1500. So the other guys crushed it.

Scott Riley [00:39:13]:

I wonder what that shop have you seen the Status? And it's just open?

Matt Every [00:39:17]:

What, like the Inn Club a year.

Josh Scobee [00:39:18]:

And a half ago? Yeah. No, it might be open when they're closed. To tell you the truth, when the.

Aron Price [00:39:25]:

Course is closed, you need to get some LFG stuff up in that.

Matt Every [00:39:29]:

Good luck with that.

Scott Riley [00:39:30]:

Talk to the buyer.

Aron Price [00:39:32]:

They make their own clothes, their own brand. It's obviously probably like Peter Miller or something.

Josh Scobee [00:39:39]:

My guess would be, in a typical week that they probably make 100,000 a day in there. I mean, no problem.

Aron Price [00:39:48]:

That and Pine Valley.

Matt Every [00:39:50]:

How do they keep it in stock?

Josh Scobee [00:39:53]:

Have you all been in the pro shop?

Aron Price [00:39:55]:

There so downstairs, right?

Josh Scobee [00:39:57]:

Yeah. So they literally like, all right, I want this size or this shirt in a large and they just go in the back and then they come out with it. I'm like, I wanted that one on the rack. Now we have to get it from back here.

Scott Riley [00:40:08]:

Do they have a member logo? Pine Valley has one where they don't write the script underneath.

Josh Scobee [00:40:14]:

Exactly.

Aron Price [00:40:15]:

Same as Ocean forest. A lot of them, just the logo is the member. But Pine Valley One is incredible. The pro shop is no bigger than this room here. It's tiny.

Josh Scobee [00:40:22]:

It is small.

Matt Every [00:40:23]:

So is Augusta's.

Josh Scobee [00:40:24]:

Right?

Scott Riley [00:40:25]:

I think it's like 400 sqft.

Josh Scobee [00:40:27]:

Twice the size of this, maybe. But they have a new one that they built. It's probably twice the size.

Matt Every [00:40:34]:

Augusta, how new is it?

Josh Scobee [00:40:37]:

Maybe a year and a half.

Matt Every [00:40:38]:

Yeah. See, the old one was like, smaller than this.

Josh Scobee [00:40:41]:

Correct? Yeah. But it's been so cool going there because now when I go there, it's like, I know everyone in there. They're like, hey, Mr. Scobie, how's it going? I'm like, hey, guys.

Aron Price [00:40:51]:

Hey. It's Josh.

Josh Scobee [00:40:53]:

Yeah.

Matt Every [00:40:54]:

First time I got to play it, man, it was so cool. I went up with Jonas, like, a few weeks before the tournament and there was just a steady mist all day. You didn't need rain gear. It was just a mist. And then obviously the sun wasn't out. But it was so cool to see that place and that kind of scene.

Josh Scobee [00:41:14]:

I've been so lucky that it's only rained one round and we've had to come in for a little while. But the rest has been gorgeous weather.

Scott Riley [00:41:22]:

Have you played it while the tournament set up or just when it's all bare?

Josh Scobee [00:41:25]:

I played it quite a few times a week before.

Matt Every [00:41:29]:

Really?

Aron Price [00:41:30]:

The Thursday round, they have tea times on the Sunday before when the pros are there and the drive chip and putts on members play.

Josh Scobee [00:41:36]:

Correct.

Matt Every [00:41:37]:

One year I was there, I was playing a practice. It was on Sunday before, and they had just I think it was the first year of the drive chip and putt. And I was down on 14 T, which is quite a ways away from the clubhouse. And it was like God came over the speakers and it was like, will all the participants from the drive chip and putt please exit the property?

Josh Scobee [00:41:59]:

And you probably didn't see where did that come from.

Aron Price [00:42:04]:

They should have on the block the flub and the yip just for, like, over 25 handicappers.

Matt Every [00:42:11]:

Yeah, we just played that charity event we were just at. They had a professional female long driver teeing off on 18. I necked one buyer.

Scott Riley [00:42:26]:

We paid to take her longest drive ever.

Aron Price [00:42:30]:

You paid to -20 yards off every drive.

Scott Riley [00:42:34]:

She said she hit 1370 in a.

Aron Price [00:42:38]:

Professional event on a runway out in.

Matt Every [00:42:40]:

The 345 in Midland, Texas.

Aron Price [00:42:43]:

370 at St. Augusta runway. I might be on one of the distinctive lists for Augusta for decent golfers who their wives have played it.

Matt Every [00:42:55]:

I'm lost.

Aron Price [00:42:56]:

No way.

Matt Every [00:42:56]:

Just happened.

Josh Scobee [00:42:57]:

So your wife played there with you?

Aron Price [00:42:59]:

No, my wife's played there. I've never played there.

Matt Every [00:43:01]:

Lucy.

Scott Riley [00:43:01]:

Lucy's played there.

Aron Price [00:43:02]:

She played at Augusta State.

Josh Scobee [00:43:04]:

Wow, I didn't know that.

Aron Price [00:43:05]:

How many, like, decent golfers who travel around play events haven't played Augusta, but their wives have? That's not a good that's a club I want to get out of. Fucking beating me up.

Matt Every [00:43:15]:

Feel like you got enough, josh, you.

Aron Price [00:43:16]:

Said you like to take people that.

Matt Every [00:43:17]:

Would appreciate how much does that take?

Aron Price [00:43:19]:

I would appreciate it much more than that.

Josh Scobee [00:43:22]:

So I have the guys that I take pay for the entire thing. So it's gone up, apparently with inflation, they're inflating their prices.

Aron Price [00:43:35]:

Are you driving up this year? Because next year.

Josh Scobee [00:43:40]:

The guy I go.

Matt Every [00:43:41]:

With does have a PJ.

Josh Scobee [00:43:43]:

He loves to fly, but we'll take, like, a sprinter van up there. But our last trip was, like, 16 grand for two nights, three rounds, and one on the par. Three course.

Scott Riley [00:43:55]:

Worth it.

Matt Every [00:43:55]:

Have you taken Weedy up there yet?

Josh Scobee [00:43:57]:

No.

Aron Price [00:43:58]:

Has weedy played it. He might have sneakily played it.

Josh Scobee [00:44:01]:

I don't think he has.

Aron Price [00:44:02]:

Not on the tournament. But, like, just knowing people.

Josh Scobee [00:44:04]:

No, I don't think he has.

Aron Price [00:44:05]:

But, yeah, all right, it's me and Weedy next year.

Josh Scobee [00:44:08]:

But maybe one day I'm a member. I'll take you all up.

Matt Every [00:44:11]:

I'll stay out.

Scott Riley [00:44:12]:

Hell, yeah. Let's put this guy up for membership.

Matt Every [00:44:14]:

He already is.

Josh Scobee [00:44:15]:

I tried to go in and fill out an application, but the application process.

Scott Riley [00:44:21]:

Can you get one online?

Aron Price [00:44:22]:

Speaking of that process up at this we're at Country Club at Fairfax, and the guy was with Billy. He's a DC guy, and this lady's know, Why don't you join? We're talking about burning Tree. She goes, well, why don't you join Burning Tree? He goes, you don't ask to be a member of like you just get invited, same as Gus. Where is that burning tree in DC. The Congressional TPC Potomac, which is Old Avenue. Bethesda they're all within, like, eight, by the way. And Burning Tree? Burning Tree is all men's club.

Matt Every [00:44:52]:

TBC Potomac is what a steal. I mean yeah, it is. That place is sick.

Aron Price [00:44:58]:

It'll hurt, like ten handicappers feelings. The guys we played with yesterday had played there, and they're like, oh, we don't like playing it's too hard. It is fucking hard.

Matt Every [00:45:06]:

I think it's my favorite TPC. Course it is.

Aron Price [00:45:10]:

Yeah.

Matt Every [00:45:10]:

Teeing off number ten there, Josh. If you got any issues off the tee, it's straight downhill and there's this water. These cattail pond cattails come out of the pond about 10ft high left.

Aron Price [00:45:25]:

What about eleven is?

Matt Every [00:45:26]:

Nothing. There's nothing. And if you're yipping it and it's down about 30 or 40 yards, so the ball is in the air forever. It's just like you just want to chip a seven iron.

Josh Scobee [00:45:35]:

Do they have an event there?

Matt Every [00:45:37]:

Yeah, it's the event where Kang and Joel Damon were arguing about where a ball crossed on ten.

Aron Price [00:45:42]:

Carl stanley won that's.

Josh Scobee [00:45:44]:

Right.

Aron Price [00:45:44]:

So the at t which was congressional is a Rona MC. They played there, then it turned into Quicken Loans announced in Detroit. But that's the event, I think.

Matt Every [00:45:52]:

Yeah. I don't know. Used to be the booz. Allen.

Aron Price [00:45:55]:

Yes. They used to play that every year. Booze Allen. So it was TPC Avenue. They shut it down and rebranded Potomac. But honestly, if you're up in the DC area, it's a must play. It's very good. It's very hard.

Matt Every [00:46:07]:

Yeah.

Aron Price [00:46:08]:

On the list.

Scott Riley [00:46:09]:

Well, I got to ask about Little League baseball. Did you have I know you and Maddie are in the your boys are in the same ever. You got any mad every stories?

Matt Every [00:46:20]:

I've been tame around, Josh.

Josh Scobee [00:46:21]:

Yeah. Nothing on the baseball side but flag football.

Aron Price [00:46:25]:

Okay.

Josh Scobee [00:46:26]:

Yeah. Were you there for this? I was there for playing against that guy, but not for the blow up. But his kids was on the team of this coach who was a nightmare.

Matt Every [00:46:42]:

He would talk shit to the players.

Josh Scobee [00:46:44]:

On the other team. I mean, we're talking about ten year.

Matt Every [00:46:47]:

Old kids telling a ten year old kid to suck on it while he's down on the ground football.

Aron Price [00:46:54]:

We've talked about that guy before.

Matt Every [00:46:56]:

Totally.

Josh Scobee [00:46:57]:

I mean, he'd been in trouble with the league before, apparently, and fortunately got kicked out after your incident with him. And I mean, this guy the kids would come back to the sideline and be like, that coach just yelled something.

Matt Every [00:47:08]:

At me is when this incident happened. I just lost it on him. So I'll let you chest bumped him.

Aron Price [00:47:17]:

Just tough day at the office, blowing off some steam.

Matt Every [00:47:20]:

Great day at the office, actually. Fucking great. But it had been coming for a while and I've just been biting my tongue, and finally I just lost it. It was ridiculous how he was running the show. His kid was a total nightmare. I feel bad for his kids, man. I really do feel bad for his wife.

Josh Scobee [00:47:36]:

Wasn't his kid the quarterback?

Matt Every [00:47:38]:

Yeah, but this guy is not good.

Josh Scobee [00:47:41]:

Didn't you yell at him, like, why don't you let someone else play quarterback?

Scott Riley [00:47:45]:

No.

Matt Every [00:47:45]:

So we kept doing this play where this double fake handoff reverse play to his kid that takes ten years to develop, and we're just getting our flag pulled five yards behind the line of scrimmage every time, mix it up, and we're up a touchdown, or we're up, like, one score, they get a safety. And my buddy Nick and I, who have actually played real sports before, we're like, we got to throw the ball. And he goes, we're trying to run the clock out, and we don't want to throw interceptions. And I'm like, well, maybe you should put in a different quarterback. And that was it. That's how the goal also, this guy, these kids are, like, ten years old. He was the only coach in the league that would let the quarterback call their own plays. Well, his kids quarterbacks calling his own number 24/7.

Matt Every [00:48:36]:

It's ridiculous, dude. And so we actually ended up winning a game, and he's like, Great game, guys. Great game. I'm like, that was a terrible game, coach. And I just went over to him and anyways, I love how spicy it.

Scott Riley [00:48:50]:

Can get in youth sports.

Aron Price [00:48:52]:

His first name is not presses it.

Matt Every [00:48:54]:

No.

Aron Price [00:48:54]:

Yes.

Josh Scobee [00:48:55]:

Baseball is by far the worst when it comes to parents.

Scott Riley [00:48:58]:

Baseball, dad the worst.

Matt Every [00:49:01]:

The politics in youth sports is disgusting. It's worse than DC.

Aron Price [00:49:08]:

I will say, coming from Australia, obviously rugby is different. It's more flowing game. But the parents get way into lunatic sports over here.

Josh Scobee [00:49:16]:

Way too into it. I mean, they act like they know every rule and every little T ball.

Aron Price [00:49:22]:

My kids, T ball travel team.

Josh Scobee [00:49:24]:

The parents were just T ball travel team.

Matt Every [00:49:26]:

Well, you listen to what you just said. That's on yourself, bro.

Aron Price [00:49:29]:

You're playing T ball travel we won season. We didn't go back.

Matt Every [00:49:35]:

But T Ball travel team.

Aron Price [00:49:36]:

But I had to inject. I tried not to, but I inject.

Matt Every [00:49:39]:

You're that parent. You're that parent right now.

Aron Price [00:49:41]:

No, I'm not. The parents were going at each other, and I said, Guys, can we stop? Look at these kids. They're having a ball. How are you guys caring more than the kids playing? They're having a great time. They don't give a holy flying shit.

Matt Every [00:49:52]:

What the score is.

Aron Price [00:49:53]:

They're giggling. They're having the best time ever. They were five years old. We didn't know it. I don't come from baseball. I don't come from this.

Scott Riley [00:50:00]:

So you're behind the fence seeing all this going on between parents, it's so different. Once you're on the dirt, though, and you can hear all the kids, but.

Aron Price [00:50:09]:

If the guy misses something at third, you can say something, but that's it like, hey, he was on and then let it go. Let it go.

Matt Every [00:50:15]:

Yeah.

Josh Scobee [00:50:15]:

But I'm one of those dads that I mean, I played baseball from birth through high school. Soccer, same thing. So whenever I see something that's egregious, I'll let the UMP know.

Aron Price [00:50:27]:

Hey, Blue.

Josh Scobee [00:50:28]:

I mean, I follow these accounts on Instagram that are like, umpire hate. It's already boiling in me. So when I see this stuff, I know it's completely obvious. I get so mad. But then I'll just go take a walk and be like, I shouldn't have done that.

Matt Every [00:50:47]:

You're not a coaching.

Josh Scobee [00:50:48]:

Right. I have told the coaches, no, I will not help because I just don't want to. But I got duped into it now.

Matt Every [00:50:55]:

Yeah.

Josh Scobee [00:50:56]:

So I'm helping out with both teams.

Matt Every [00:50:58]:

Okay.

Josh Scobee [00:50:58]:

Yeah. Awesome.

Aron Price [00:51:00]:

First base.

Josh Scobee [00:51:02]:

That's exactly what I'm doing. Thank you. But I try to be as flaky as possible. So maybe they'll just ask someone else.

Scott Riley [00:51:09]:

Yeah, if you do a really shitty job, you're going to get fired.

Josh Scobee [00:51:12]:

I'm going to start sending players for no reason. I don't know what I'm doing.

Scott Riley [00:51:17]:

It's fun when you have a group kids. Mine's. Mine's twelve. You kind of at the end of the little League run, but now you've got kids that know what to do with the baseball when they get it. They don't hold it in the outfield anymore. Kids take their signs from third base coach and actually run when they're supposed to.

Aron Price [00:51:34]:

My kids are doing that.

Scott Riley [00:51:35]:

It's been the most enjoyable little fall season I've ever had. And there is a light at the end of the tunnel. But I don't know about you pricey because travel ball and starting out, a.

Josh Scobee [00:51:47]:

Lot of balls and strikes in T ball you'll get really powers are terrible.

Aron Price [00:51:51]:

No, but it's the parent. There are like there was crossing home, played out or whatever and they were just erupted and I was like, how.

Scott Riley [00:52:00]:

Many uniforms did your little yeah, they had three.

Aron Price [00:52:06]:

It was pretty wild. But now my nine year old is doing it. He's only played baseball for one year, so he's caught up pretty quick and he's doing it because it's more baseball now. I'm not going to do this the rest of my life. And they tee ball, obviously. It's pretty easy to have a tee. Then they go to sling. They can't hit the sling.

Aron Price [00:52:23]:

They get amazing at the sling because they're all strikes. Like wycroft's kid is he's really good? Ridiculous. Then they get to nine years juicing.

Josh Scobee [00:52:30]:

For.

Matt Every [00:52:34]:

It looks like he was on the tip for like three years.

Aron Price [00:52:38]:

So that chase wecross thing. There's no way they'll lose a game this year. Really. There you go. At nine. So first year of proper baseball.

Matt Every [00:52:46]:

We got to bring those softies from Nakati over to Jack's Beach. That would be they'll lose some.

Aron Price [00:52:51]:

He knows. He knows how good Chase I've seen his action whole team. They're all good.

Josh Scobee [00:52:55]:

Oh, he can hit it over the fence and not a single kid on our team can hit it over the fence.

Aron Price [00:53:00]:

Really?

Josh Scobee [00:53:01]:

When I was their age, I could bomb it over the fence.

Matt Every [00:53:03]:

We got a kid on our team that can with one of those Utrips. Some of these bats do.

Josh Scobee [00:53:06]:

Yeah.

Aron Price [00:53:07]:

Utrips are ridiculous. They sound like three X.

Matt Every [00:53:10]:

Sounds like you could bunt one out of the park.

Josh Scobee [00:53:12]:

Yeah. Our kids just can't hit it very far and we don't play teams that can hit it over the fence and.

Aron Price [00:53:18]:

It'S their knowledge no one knew. So first year of kid pitch, their knowledge is insane.

Josh Scobee [00:53:24]:

That's some of the kids. Then you play rec ball and oh.

Scott Riley [00:53:27]:

No, he's popping it over 200. At under ten years old, I'm saying.

Josh Scobee [00:53:32]:

We don't have kids that can.

Scott Riley [00:53:33]:

But Weedy's kid.

Josh Scobee [00:53:35]:

Oh, yeah. How old is he?

Aron Price [00:53:37]:

He's nine. Just turned nine.

Josh Scobee [00:53:39]:

Good God.

Scott Riley [00:53:40]:

Do you have a man body?

Aron Price [00:53:41]:

He's just a big, solid boy.

Scott Riley [00:53:45]:

You don't want to peak too early.

Aron Price [00:53:47]:

Weedy's got a strong lower half, says Chase.

Scott Riley [00:53:49]:

I mean, a lot of these kids that you thought were studs younger, they've kind of stopped caring about baseball and petered out and I'm like, you're going to be a great golfer one day. You have what it takes to I.

Matt Every [00:54:00]:

Can'T wait for first of all, we're all idiots for judging any of this right now. None of our kids have hit puberty.

Josh Scobee [00:54:06]:

Right, that's a good point.

Matt Every [00:54:07]:

I mean, I can't wait for that to happen. Then we'll sort all this out.

Josh Scobee [00:54:10]:

Yeah.

Aron Price [00:54:10]:

They got to face wine, women and song. The test of three.

Josh Scobee [00:54:17]:

I don't know what that means.

Aron Price [00:54:19]:

So wine is booze, women is girls, and then song is like partying, so you got to get through.

Josh Scobee [00:54:24]:

Is that an Aussie thing?

Aron Price [00:54:26]:

Yeah. Oh, Americans don't drink or party or chase women.

Josh Scobee [00:54:31]:

We're all perfect.

Scott Riley [00:54:33]:

Not in the.

Aron Price [00:54:36]:

Chivalry.

Matt Every [00:54:37]:

It's not dead.

Aron Price [00:54:39]:

Not around you.

Matt Every [00:54:40]:

No.

Aron Price [00:54:40]:

Well, bud.

Matt Every [00:54:41]:

Yeah. Thanks, Josh. Yeah, that was a lot of fun, man.

Aron Price [00:54:44]:

Thank you very much.

Josh Scobee [00:54:44]:

Do it more often.

Scott Riley [00:54:45]:

Yeah.

Matt Every [00:54:46]:

Come here. Whenever you open, invite. The door is always open. I'm serious.

Aron Price [00:54:51]:

Cool.

Matt Every [00:54:51]:

I appreciate it.

Scott Riley [00:54:52]:

Thank you.

Josh Scobee [00:54:53]:

All right, guys.
