So let’s start with…

#NetworkingWeek, running from 3rd to 9th February, all about fostering connections and building professional relationships. It’s a great opportunity to expand your network, share insights, and collaborate with like-minded individuals.

To engage on social media during Networking Week, use #NetworkingWeek to share your networking experiences, offer actionable tips, and connect with professionals online. Highlight your attendance at virtual and in-person events, post about lessons learned from networking, and encourage your audience to build meaningful connections.

You can also collaborate with local organisations, attend industry-specific events, or even host your own networking session to bring people together. Let’s use Networking Week as a platform to grow our communities and support each other in our professional journeys.

Next up is…

#WorldCancerDay on 4th February, a global initiative to raise cancer awareness. The theme for 2025 is 'United by Unique,' which places people at the centre of care and their stories at the heart of the conversation.

To join the call to action, add your event to the map of activity and more, visit worldcancerday.org.

Next up is…

#TimeToTalkDay on 6th February encouraging open conversations about mental health to break down the stigma surrounding mental health issues. Organised by Time to Change, a mental health anti-stigma campaign in the UK, this day provides a platform for individuals to share their experiences, offer support, and promote understanding.

To get involved on social media, use the official hashtag #TimeToTalk, share personal stories, educate with mental health facts, encourage discussions, and participate in challenges. Amplify the campaign's content, connect with mental health organisations, and contribute to creating a supportive online community. Together, let's normalise conversations about mental well-being.

Next up is…

#SaferInternetDay on 11th February, a global event with the theme 'Together for a Better Internet.' This annual celebration calls upon everyone-individuals, organisations, schools, and policymakers-to come together to make the internet a safer and better place, particularly for children and young people. It's a day to reflect on how we use the internet, share knowledge, and promote responsible and respectful online behaviour.

To participate on social media, use the hashtag #SaferInternetDay, share tips on online safety, promote digital literacy resources, and encourage discussions about creating a positive online environment. Collaborate with local organisations and schools to host events or workshops focusing on internet safety.

For more information and resources, visit saferinternetday.org.

This leads me nicely to our guest today, Brent Homan, from The Office of The Data Protection Authority in Guernsey, who is going to help us learn more about how we can work together to create a safer internet. Brent will share insights on how the ODPA supports this important mission, the role of data protection in promoting online safety, and how we can all play a part-whether through social media, education, or community collaboration.

Welcome Brent thanks for talking with me today.
