For former amiga Alexis Lee, getting tubed is more than just a physical experience. Charging waves has allowed her to transcend motherhood and regain autonomy and strength. Alexis’ life was completely changed after she started surfing in her 30s during a trip in Costa Rica. She feels that her motherhood journey has clearly coincided with her surfing journey; both experiences have been filled with joy, frustration and constant learning. She believes that no matter how hard you try, sometimes you just have a bad day, both in the water and as a mother with your kids. In this episode we dive into combating postpartum depression, the realities of parenthood, managing your needs, and how surfing is a sport that transcends the physical; for Alexis it has allowed her to renew her appreciation for her family while gaining confidence and empowerment.
