Aidan Osborne

Welcome back to another episode of the Speech Path Pod! In this episode, I talk with Margaret Stoddart about her experience living with muscle tension dysphonia (MTD).

Margaret is a a Registered Nurse, working in Cardiology Catheter Labs as the Coordinator.  She run 5 Labs  and spends most of her day talking to Consultants, Colleagues, Patients and Wards.  She first noticed a change in her voice around 5 years ago (2018). Initially her voice just started to break and become unreliable, it gradually got worse and became even more unreliable and even giving up on me sometimes.

Margaret is desperately trying to raise awareness of voice disorders in the UK  as she reports it appears that not enough people in her country know about MTD and other debilitating  voice conditions. Margaret joined the North Carolina Dysphonia International virtual support group several years ago and is now the area contact lead for the UK.
