Hello and welcome back to another episode of your favorite podcast. It's your boy Day.
SPEAKER_04And I'm David, but all my friends call me comrade.
SPEAKER_01Let's just call me Limbo. At first I thought you said they'd call you Comrade, and I was like, Jesus. I realized what you said. Sorry, explicitly.
SPEAKER_04In a in a previous life. In a previous life. Come dumpster is usually what I think. I don't think I've ever been called that.
SPEAKER_01Please. No. No. No.
SPEAKER_04So yeah, she doesn't need to know this. But yeah, no, my friends, my friends call me, like, they're like, okay, I need to send this to Comrade Kugler. I have a group text with some friends, and they're like, oh, this is for this is for Comrade Kugler. And I think that that's really funny. But yes, in the group text, we got some feedback about our last episode as well. And so if you are listening to this and you ever have any feedback about a previous episode, you can notify us by either texting our personal phone numbers, which we're not going to give out here. If you have those, you are wow, the at the level of access that you have, unprecedented, dare I say. But you can send us your thoughts on Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, and Threads at Call Me Limbo Pod, or send us an email at callmylimbopod at gmail.com. But day, my friend Donna, and who has been a listener for for a while now, she wanted you to know that rats are very smart and loyal. So this was in reference to you talking about New York and New York City and the rats.
SPEAKER_03So she wanted you to know that rats are very smart and loyal.
SPEAKER_01What I watched, you know, they made us read Mouse on the motorcycle. I watched Stuart Little, but that actually knowing that they're loyal and want to stay around actually makes I feel like it's boosting my reasons for not wanting to live in New York because again, I don't like rats. So knowing that they are smart enough to stick around is yuck. Yeah. But thank you for that updated information. But I must must say I'm okay.
SPEAKER_03Not for you.
SPEAKER_01Not for me. I always just was confused by the little books that tried to make the little mouse mice seem cute. And it's like, okay. I guess.
SPEAKER_04Was Ratatouille big rat propaganda?
SPEAKER_01Oh, I couldn't watch Ratatouille because I was just like, y'all, it's a rat playing with food. Like I'm just yuck. I did like Mouse on the Motorcycle though. That was cute. I don't know that one. Yeah, it was a book, and then they made it into a movie. Like we had to read it growing up. And then I loved I loved Stuart Little.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_01I did enjoy Stuart. But yeah, it's a no for me. Yeah. I don't know how I got through the Mouse on the Motorcycle though. Like as an adult, like I'm like given my disdain for mice. I don't know how I did it. Stuart Little was a cute movie though. I wonder if it's on Netflix. I need to see. That's a that's a classic. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Alright. Well, yeah. I somebody was telling me the other day, I don't remember who it was, but they were saying that they were like w out walking a while back and they saw someone with like a stroller. I'm like, oh, there's probably a cute little baby in there, and there were three rats.
SPEAKER_01Absolutely not. No. I'm calling job protective services. I'm disgusted.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. So alright, yeah. Also let us know. Confirm. Yeah. Why I've never been under I've never understood why someone would want to be a a parent to a rat, but I I guess people are.
SPEAKER_01So if you are, let us know so that I know whose house not to go to.
SPEAKER_04I understand. I had guinea pigs growing up. Like I had a couple of guinea pigs. And I would say that they're probably part of the Yeah, that is Nebraska. Yeah. That's part of like the rodent family. It is. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Your kid is a big thing. I still wouldn't want to be around. I still wouldn't want to play with it, but it's better. It's like in the list list of ways that I would not, things I would not enjoy. It's less egregious. Okay. Than the rat. Like the rat mouse thing.
unknownChopping.
SPEAKER_01Is it what is it? Is it the tail? Is it how? No, no, it's everything. I don't, I think part of it is the tail. It's just the the lure of it. Like the It's just like talk about a mood killer. Like anytime I've like, I remember one last time I was in DC, there was just a bunch. DC's been like really raggedy last few times I've gone. And it'll just be like I'm outside, and then there's a trash can, it's just a bunch of mice, and I'm like, so I can't do it. Yeah. I don't know. It's like snakes and mice. Those are like my two things. Spiders, I don't love spiders, but like they don't the little ones. I was like the big like tarantulas and stuff, like be for real. People who just have those in their house, I believe they potential serial killers. But everything else, I'm just like, uh I don't know. Like I can handle, I just don't love them. Sure. Do you have any animals that you dislike or insects? Snakes. Snakes.
SPEAKER_04I do like anacondas famously.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. And I'm getting bad to respond, seriously. Oh, like, well, that makes.
SPEAKER_04Never mind. Yeah, I like anacondas. I like pythons. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Um. Didn't we see? No, we saw a boa in in Bali. Remember when the guy was playing the thing? Like we saw like when they were the snake thing? Because yes, because there was one in the strawberry patch that we visited, and then I was like, gotta go. But then when we went to like one of the the water uh cliffs with the rainfalls and stuff, and we got the ash put on us. Oh yeah. I hope I'm saying that right. There was a big huge, just laying on the ground next to their handler. And I was like, absolutely not. But it was cool to watch them do it, but I was a little taken aback that people were so calm next to the ball. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04So yeah, no, I I am just I'm kind of baffled by like snakes are just like all muscle, it seems like to not have like legs and just like be able to still move around so fast and just wiggle and like yeah. If you were a Patreon member, you could have seen me wiggle. This is the plea for the spring subscription season.
SPEAKER_02You like that, flawless?
SPEAKER_01Uh Jimmy Shimmy over to Shopstack or to Patreon to get the access to the full shimmy, shimmy, shimmy, cook or what? No, I agree. Like, I don't know. I'm like it's funny because I'm like always in the minority with animals because it's like I don't hate animals. I actually strongly believe in animal rights and other fun things. I just don't want most of them around me. That's really what it is. Like, y'all know I'm allergic to like cats and dogs, so people will get mad at me, and I'm like, like, I'm the person that's mad, like, why do we have dogs inside of restaurants? Like, why and you know what? Something I will give cat parents, because you're a cat a cat dad. I am. I don't ever see cat dads, cat parents bringing their cat cats out in public places like that. And I really respect that about cat parents because they're like, listen, this is my child. It doesn't mean I'm gonna bring it in a food establishment. And all the service animals. Okay, yes, I know that there are service animals. I'm not arguing against the service animals because I get it. But some of y'all are really pulling it. Like, I'm gonna be problematic and say, like, some of this emotional support animal not stuff, I'm gonna call some of it nonsense. Fight me in the comments. Fight your mama. I don't know what to tell you because I'd be like, you just want to bring your pet in there. And like, do you not know how annoying? As a person with a pet allergy, it's annoying because it's like, I came in here for one to eat my food. I didn't know that we were gonna have little animals in here while I'm trying to eat. So now I'm in here coughing up a lung and my skin's on fire. Because you wanted to bring Lassie. I don't understand that. You could eat with Lassie outside. Take it to go. Like, cause people bring them in there with so much confidence. Like I'm walking in a Starbucks. Why is your dog in here?
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_04I don't want to taint your perspective of Denver, but I feel like I'm obligated to people love bringing their dogs to places and restaurants here. A lot of times they're only allowed like on the patio, but they're they're not really generally allowed inside of like restaurants unless they're like a service animal. But there's a lot of people who bring their dogs to restaurants and like to patios. So I know. And also, Denver actually has more dogs than kids. Yes.
SPEAKER_01You have a lot of dogs. I actually had to write about, I think I wrote about some of the most dog, like most dog-friendly places in very dog dense areas, and I'm and I believe that Denver was on there, and I was like, Yeah. Not helping the case. But yeah. Here we go. So but I know I'm in the minority. It's like my disdain for strawberries. I don't like strawberries. Really? Do you like other berries? Or is it just the strawberry? I love blueberries. Um but strawberries are very tart for me. And people say they're so sweet. And I'm like, no, they're very tart to me, so I don't like them. Yeah. Huh. But I but I own that, you know. I I I'm not saying ban animals, I'm just saying ban them in in in public places with people. Because you don't know who has an allergy. It's just really inconsiderate. And that's before you even get to a phobia. Like, yeah. Damn, stop bringing animals. And that's why I will say cat parents are better than dog parents. Fight me in the comments. Because cat parents tend to keep their kids at their house. Like, or places where it's appropriate to have a cat, like a cat cafe, you know?
SPEAKER_04I've never been to a cat cafe, but I would like to. I think they seem cute. I think they seem to be cute.
SPEAKER_01They have food. Yeah. I've never been to it, but people like it. Okay. But you should start a cat cafe in Denver. Why not?
SPEAKER_04I don't know if I'm interested in starting a cat cafe. I'm good with just my one. Like, I like my cat. Yeah, I here's the thing, Day. My level of like responsibility these days. Like, I get to wake up when I want to. I get to like work from where I want to. If I have to go to a designated location during designated like business hours, I don't know if I'm ready to commit to that level of responsibility again.
SPEAKER_01That's fair.
SPEAKER_04At least right and now at this point in my life. Maybe when I turn 40, things will be different. You never know. You know, I've been reevaluating a lot of things in my life before as I'm pre-40.
SPEAKER_01But Yeah. And it is tough because people are very sensitive about their pets. You have to make sure everything was like perfect. I mean, unless you just hire someone who doesn't want to be the owner, but would want to manage it. Sure.
SPEAKER_04I always worry about startup funding. So and I know, and I'm not gonna make someone else care more about my like project than me. I I don't know. I've just gotten to the point where I was like, if I'm gonna I'm for me, it's just about owning my own means of production. If I were to do something like that, I would set it up as like a worker-owned co-op and where there would yeah. So it's like if I were, I would structure it differently than like the traditional sort of business model.
SPEAKER_01That I could see because people care about pets. Like that I feel like you could find a very, very dedicated because it's a need. Clearly, the people have nowhere to take their cats because cat parents are considerate. I'm ragging on dog parents today, they're really gonna hate me and they'll be all right, though. Um, because not all dog parents are terrible. Like, I've met party that like do their best to be nice. It's kind of like when people be like, oh, I'm not putting my kid up if you come over. I'd be like, that doesn't hurt my feelings. It's it's your dog's house. I said I just won't be there. Like, it's no, it's no offense. I don't take any because I was like, it's not worth me sitting here burning up, oh my dog's hypoallergenic. And then you'd be like, a lot of the doctors are like, that's not really a thing. However, I will say, how I explain the quote unquote hypoallergenic dog for me is that it gives you all the same symptoms. They're just less severe.
SPEAKER_03Oh.
SPEAKER_01So it's like you still, still like burning, itchy, scratchy, all the stuff that's annoying. It's just not as intense. Like when they're not, it's very intense and it's really annoying. Like I was, I don't know if I should say that because the shit is. I'm gonna say it because this is calling me limbo. Like I was, I'm in a show and like one of the rehearsals, somebody brought their dog. And granted, it's an outdoor thing, but I was sitting here, like, first of all, your dog is barking. So they're not even being considerate to the fact that we're performing. But then I'm just like, I'm watching everybody like rub up and grab, run up and grab and rub the dog. And all I can think about is you're about to try to touch me on stage. Like, not inappropriate, but like, you're touching the clothes, you're touching the microphones, you're touching everything I have to use. As a person who's allergic and then just grossed out by this, I'm like, all I know is you're not gonna wash your hands. You're just gonna then spread that all over. And I'm just like.
SPEAKER_04Add this to the hygiene conversation. Yes, give your dog a bath. Like, I know the song is give your dog a bone. Give your dog a bath.
SPEAKER_01Give them a bath. Because, friend, people be letting them dogs outside walk out there and fiddle mahidal sticks and then let the dog jump all on their bed. Like, I tell a hoe that wants me to take my shoes off at their door, but then have a dog that they be letting walk in their own poop and then hop on their bed and their pillows. I can't trust you. It's I don't even eat people food that got animals. Like, let's just be honest. See, if we really want to have Darius's problematic takes, because you know I'm everyone's problematic babe. Oh, that's one we can talk about. Like, I don't, I barely eat people's food in general, won't eat people who that they have pets. I can't do it in my head. I'm like, mm-mm. Mm-mm. Yeah. But then it's like y'all not even washing yourself. So I know you're not washing your dogs. Cause I'm like, why are they not peppy, why are puppy paws not like puppy putt paws, like pet wipes, sorry, paw wipes? That should just be like a standard. Like, why are y'all not wiping their little paws off when they come from outside? Because again, outside is disgusting. But then I'm like, oh, people be walking outside barefoot. Like, it's just so many levels to my disgust with people. And then they be letting the little things lick them in the face and stuff. And I'm just like, see, this is it's too much.
SPEAKER_04I do like Phoebe's stinky breath when she licks my nose. It's so cute. It feels very it's it's a little rough, but it's so sweet. I did used to like this. I'm showing my whiteness. I did used to love like a big slobbery kiss from my dog growing up, like all over my all over my face. Not really into that these days, but yeah. But I love when Phoebe gives me little kisses. It's so cute.
SPEAKER_01I'm gonna say, at best I could give them on my hand. Like, but I don't even like humans kissing me like that, like being sloppy or what? I'd be like, yuck, boo. Like, why did you get get this water breath off of me? Um, but yeah, that's my problematic take for the day. Is brush it up, keep take care of your pet's dental hygiene. Stop letting them lick y'all all over and then not washing your face. And then, yeah. I don't know. I just but I don't even like babies. Like, don't be spitting up on me and throwing up on me. Like babies are cute. I think they're adorbs when they're like people's kids that I know, and I'm like, oh, they're so cute. But they're not like people like, oh, it's so different, it's yours, you're not gonna care about the poop. Yes, I am. It's poop. It stinks. Yeah, I know I'm obligated to clean it.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_01Doesn't make it any better. No. When we get when they get older, we're having a conversation. It's like, you know, I used to clean your poop. Like a friend of mine, she has said she told her daughter to stop putting something in her mouth, so her daughter put it in her nose. So then she had to go out there and suck it out. Because you know, a lot of times, because babies can't blow, so they have to like use the straw to suck it out.
SPEAKER_04And I'm like, see, first I got a skittle stuck up my nose when I was a kid. I had to go to the emergency room.
SPEAKER_01And like your parents have to like imagine your parent has to suck out the snot from your nose. Like, that's another level of love. Like, call your parents today and tell them thank you, if you can. Because like, that's really gonna let me know if I love that child or not. I'm sure now they use a little like such and things, but yeah, my children's gonna be like a little get a straw and get it out. And then the girl was crying, and I was like, as she should be. So she learns never to do it again. Like, I told you not to do that. So you thought it'd be funny to put it in your nose? Bet.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Bet. But yeah. See, this is why I don't have kids. So sure.
SPEAKER_04And I'm now kind of of the belief where I'm like, okay, their frontal cortex isn't fully formed until they're 25. Should they be held responsible for anything before 25 years old?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, nay. Like, I do get it, and I try to be patient. Like, I do have I work with kids, so it's like I have a certain level of life.
SPEAKER_03When you're waiting with kids.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's what they say. And my thing is like this too, like, because kids, my least favorite part about kids is that they're just germ germ peachy dishes. Like they will literally sneeze on you and just be like, hello, and I just be wanting to kick them, like move. But I can't. If it wasn't for the germs, they wouldn't be so bad.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_01They're funny. Oh, yeah, definitely funny. Because everything to them is like novel. I will say that's my favorite part about being an uncle. And my favorite part is like teaching is like how easily amazed kids are. Because everything is like new and wonder wonderful. That's that innocence is something I would I I try to like remind myself to have. And I wish that more adults had. I get why we don't, but it'd be nice.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. My five-year-old niece loves, I she she's just amused by songs with naughty words in them. And so I just play as many of them as I can for her because she thinks it's so funny. And now she's requesting, she's like, when when I was back in Nebraska at the beginning of the week, she was telling, she was like, I am going to the restaurant with Uncle David, and no one else is allowed to drive with her. And so as soon as we get in the car, she goes, Can I hear Moo? Can you put on Moo by Doja? She loves that song. She just sits in the backseat, just bopping her head and singing along. Oh, it's so cute. It's so cute. She also loves the City Girls. So I'm really trying to introduce her to the finer tastes in music.
SPEAKER_01My sister doesn't love it, but I think she accepts it. She says, you know, that's their bonding time. Yes.
SPEAKER_04Do both nieces love it? I think if this was the first, the first child, I'm a firstborn. I think it would be different. I think it would be different. The firstborn isn't allowed to say curse words or naughty words. The f the five-year-old loves to like say naughty words. Like and I always assumed it'd be yeah. I don't acknowledge it, but I was like, the everybody else just laughs and thinks it's so funny. And I'm like, We're in Italy, dude.
SPEAKER_01Stop saying that. Well, you weren't saying that when they were five.
unknownNo.
SPEAKER_01So they just kept it going, you know?
SPEAKER_04Yeah. I went back for her preschool graduation. It was very cute to see all the congregations to it. It was really funny. It was really cute. So they all walked in with like sunglasses on. It was so bright. Yeah, half of them don't know where they're supposed to go. And like it's just it's so it was so cute. But yes, when I was refilling my gas tank when I got home, $26 for five gallons of gas today. $26 for five gallons. It's and I I've talked about this before, and I have a Prius.
SPEAKER_01Like I see your 25, David. It's 60. I filled up yesterday $61 to fill my tank up.
unknownOh.
SPEAKER_01And I've had to do it twice this week.
SPEAKER_04Oh. And the wages aren't keeping up.
SPEAKER_01No.
SPEAKER_04And gas always gets more expensive in the summer, too.
SPEAKER_01Yes. I was so depressed watching how fast the money was racking up and how slow the gas part was going up. And the crazier thing is I didn't notice how much gas was. Because I'm like, gas is one of those things where I'm like, well, I have to pay it. So it's like I'm gonna fill it up. But as I was looking, gas was four dollars and like fifty-five cents. Oh my god. Yeah, I think it was like 4.55 yesterday. Yeah. I think I pulled up and it was like 519 or something like that.
SPEAKER_04Insanity. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. The last time I remember it being this high was during the Iraq War. Like in I think it was during the Iraq War. I was living in Iowa. It would have been like 2007, 2008 ish. And I remember it being almost $5 a gallon then. I'd be curious what that is with inflation, but still expensive.
SPEAKER_01I'm like, you know what? Maybe I should have gotten me a little BYD car and just Pay that hundred percent tariff because this is insane. I know my friends with with electric cars are very happy right now.
SPEAKER_04Yes. I know, mine too. So I still, I still am not like trusting of like the infrastructure yet. That's why I like it. I know, I know.
SPEAKER_01Anybody could have electric, it'd be you.
SPEAKER_04I know. I was like, I just for me, I was like, I just didn't want to have to like rent a car. Because it was like, I guess I saw some electric charging stations when I was back in Nebraska this weekend, but I was like, it was more so like to because I I like to take my car on like road trips. And by like to, I mean basically go visit my family and go visit some friends that are like within basically 200 to 250 miles.
SPEAKER_01So you'd be fine.
SPEAKER_04I would. Uh, but I was like, I just, yeah, I just worry about like, I don't know. This is what my therapist calls creating my own suffering. And yeah, I just, I just didn't want to change my habits, honestly. And I was like, I know that I know that we're in the midst of climate change. I did see an article though the other day that said that like climate scientists have have said that like we're not gonna meet the I think it was 2015 goals, but we're not going to like reach like the worst threshold of like of temperature increase. Well, well, I guess that's something, but still higher than that. Yeah. So I was like, I was like, for me, I was like, I I you know you probably know this about me. I was like, I tend to be a late adapter of technology and of things. I was like, I it takes a little bit of convincing for me because once I kind of figure out a process and I'm setting my routine, I'm pretty, pretty stuck to it. And so that's the thing. I was like, I've been filling up my car with gas for a certain way for almost 25 years. And so I was like, you don't want to like if I can reduce my amount of I and that's the thing, I was like, I'm planning on having this car, my my Prius for 20 years. Like I, yeah, oh yeah. I I don't want a car payment. I don't want like, yeah, I was like, and I was like, I Toyotas famously evidently last for a really, really long time. So and Hondas.
SPEAKER_01And Subarus. And Subarus, yes, they do. I was like, because the electric for me, I I have lived with people who have them, and I have friends who have them. And like I guess the most inconvenience is like just having to charge sometimes, but like it's really not that it's not that bad. Like you kind of get used to it's kind of like I guess in some ways it's light gas where you just like you know you have to put gas in it at some point. It's just it's a thing that exists, but yeah, I don't know. I've never I don't think I none of my friends have ever said, and we ran out of charge. Like now, granted, and many of them come equipped where it lets you know if you're taking a road trip where you would need to stop, when to stop, how long it would take. That would be the biggest thing. But a lot of them say that after a while, especially the cost, it's like for it, right? Like right now, when I talk to them, they're like, Oh, I don't have this issue like that you're having with like having to pay $120 a week in gas. Which is insane. So it's so much money. It's so much money for the same thing that was just thirty dollars last week, you know, like a month ago, you know.
SPEAKER_04Literally, literally. Oh yeah. So there's that. And a little bit of good news though, the Colorado Supreme Court required the children's hospital of Colorado to restart gender-affirming care. So that's nice. So yeah. Yeah, what did they design that as?
SPEAKER_01Because you know, people love the city out there chopping off little body parts, and I'm like, so what would they which I'm always like, y'all do know that's not like people really think you can just wake up and be like, I'm transgender, everything changes tomorrow. It's like that's not how any of this works. No at all. But it's actually something they work really hard to make sure that you're serious about. It's mostly social, especially for kids. Like, is this social transitioning?
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Yeah. But yeah. So there's that. Then there's a couple other good news out of a couple other good things out of Colorado and out of Denver. The Denver City Council just put a one-year pause on data center construction. So that's exciting. Unfortunately, it's not gonna stop this one that's currently going up, but it is going to stop like it was going to be like three buildings. And so it's not gonna stop the first building that's being built, but it will stop the other two. So that's good. It was interesting. Several of the council members were saying, like, I wish that like we would have done this sooner. And like Councilwoman Parody, who, Sarah Parody, who we've had on the on the show before, is a friend of Phoebe award winner, doing great work, is running for re-election next year for her at-large seat. I will be voting for her. I have already contributed to her campaign and I will probably do so again. And she's she's great. She said that her biggest regret on council was when a couple of years ago, when the mayor proposed a $9 million like tax break for this data center that's going up that didn't end up passing, was that she didn't realize at the time that potentially city council could have had the powers to like do like a I think it was called like a land use grab. I'll put a link to this article in the show notes. And like a land use sort of grab sort of thing to basically prevent this data center from going up in the first place. And so, but she was like, I didn't realize that at the time. And so, but I was like, I I appreciate the level of like introspection and like thinking through about like, you know what, if I would have done this, I I wish I would have done this a little differently. And so I appreciate that, like that level of of self-accountability. But she's been right on on a lot of issues, and she was one of the sponsors of the the ceasefire resolution that was brought forth to city council a few, a few years ago as well, that did not pass. It was four to nine. So councilwoman parity, councilwoman Chantel Lewis, also a past guest, friend of Phoebe Award winner, my friend, Councilwoman Serena Gonzalez Gutierrez, and Councilwoman Jamie Torres were the ones that voted in support of that resolution. And I will always, always be thankful for them for that. And also, the Colorado Democrats just voted to censure our governor, Jared Polis, by almost 90% for him. So I don't know if you've heard about this day, that there's this woman here named Tina Peters. And a few years ago, she, I think it was in 2020, she was the like county clerk overseeing elections in Mesa County, which is a county out in western Colorado. And she was trusted to uphold the integrity of the elections for her county. Well, she like turned over like this private voting information and access to voting machines to people who were trying to like basically overturn the election toward the benefit of Donald Trump. This is the election that Joe Biden ended up winning, yes. And she was convicted of several felonies of like election interference and tampering by a jury of her peers. And she was sentenced to, I believe, nine years in jail. The governor thought that that was too governor, Democrat, Democrat governor, who has historically been a libertarian. I think he just changed his party potentially to um to to run for governor, but I would need to spot check that. He used to be the like representative for Boulder, Colorado, and he used to caucus with like the libertarians, but he's two-term governor, he's approaching the end of his term. So he's got a few months left. He's he's not not got not got a lot. He's a Zionist. He is like very anti-labor. He's like a his net worth is like in the hundreds of millions of dollars. So like he is not a what? The classic libertarian sounds like. Yes. So yes, he's not a friend to labor. He's just like anti-union. He's just, he's, I don't know, his politics are not great. And but I was like, and so he he like reduced the sentence of of this Tina Peters, and she's supposed to get out, I believe, of jail on June 1st. Oh, and reduced it. Very soon, yeah. And so over, I believe it was over 700 like leaders, Democratic leaders in Colorado signed on to this letter saying, like, we disagree with you on doing this. And then the Colorado, I think it was the Democratic Party or the Colorado, it was the Colorado Democrats have somehow voted almost 90% to to censure him. And so like what that means, now there are calls to impeach him, which are being led by which the first person I heard talking about impeachment was again previous guest and current candidate for Colorado House District 1 for Congress, Maylock Kuros, who will be a friend of Phoebe Award winner. Maybe we just call it now an early Friend of Phoebe Award winner, Maylock Kuros. And God, I hope she wins. I think she has a really good chance. Oh, I think she's got a good chance. And I she's great. And she was the first person that I saw calling for the Democrats in Colorado to impeach him and remove him from office over this. And because she had said, she was like, we have to be an example. Like, we have to be an example that we are willing to like go against our own party leadership and say, you did something wrong. This does not represent us. This is like, this is a very serious offense, like tampering with the integrity of the integrity of our elections, which like goes to the belief in just democracy in general. Like we have to be willing to say, like, we will bring articles of impeachment. So I've seen other people kind of get on board with this now, too. A current candidate for attorney general David Seligman, who I will also be voting for. I've donated to him full disclosure as well. And I think he would be a great attorney general. He's also calling for the impeachment of Jared Polis. So we'll see. Um, I I would love to see it. And I would and I just keep thinking it's like, this is your legacy. This is your legacy. So I'm really proud of the the Colorado Democrats for like holding him accountable. All that really means, the center, is that he's not going to be really invited as like a guest of honor or like to like parties. So it doesn't really mean a whole lot. It's kind of like yes, it's like a figurative slap on the wrist. It's kind of like a public shaming, strongly worded letter. There are more like social consequences rather than actual like power consequences. So that's why I'm kind of aligned with May Lot here and saying like he really should be impeached. But few good things coming out of Colorado. The like I always say, day, the glimmers still exist, so I continue to persist. And yeah, I yeah, so there are some good things going on, but yeah, just curious if you have like Virginia's already crazy.
SPEAKER_01I mean, most people have heard by now that the courts have decided to I believe the Supreme Court decided not to take up the redistricting challenge. And of course the Virginia Supreme Court decided to block, say that what was done was unconstitutional because it didn't give enough time. So it's on a technicality, even though the people actually I would say what most surprised me that really made me sad was when I looked at my area of of Virginia, which is the coastal area, that my hometown of Virginia Beach was the only, I believe the only city that actually voted to not approve it. Which was shocking to me because there are very conservative areas that like I'm talking about just barely voted, yes, but they did. And so when I saw that Virginia Beach didn't, I was like, huh. Interesting. Granted, I've always known Virginia Beach can be purplish. Heavy military. Uh yeah, but I mean, the other military ones, it depends, because like North Falcara is very military for the Navy. Um, but Virginia Beach does too. So it was it was just interesting that that was the district where it did fail. But it doesn't matter because I said that whole thing, I want to bring on an expert because it the whole thing is a fool. And it's really just depressing to see what these places are doing. I mean, I feel like I would love to have like a a a different, a new voting rights conversation one, because I feel like, you know, a lot of people were trying to compare the redistricting vote to um the voting rights act, which to me is like you're really stretching. But I also feel like it's not fair given the fact that when you look at what's happening, Virginia actually had input from the voters. There is no input in these red states where they're doing this, it's just people doing it and saying, do, bye. So yeah, it's a it's a lot. It's a very living in Virginia, I've always said is a very interesting experience because there is such a wide array of opinions, but there's also very distinct social classes, different sectors, like military, contractors, embassy, you know, uh people who are ambassadors like you have northern Virginia, coastal Virginia. Like every need is different. So it's a very unique state to live in politically. Hmm.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_04Well, before we wrap up, we also wanted to acknowledge the passing of former congressman Bernie Bernie, Barney, Barney Frank, who was from Massachusetts. Is that right? I can check it. He was from the Northeast. And he was the first openly gay congressman to be in Massachusetts. Okay, yeah. He was the first openly gay congressman, especially at like the height of the AIDS crisis. And so again, like we acknowledge the passing of Jason Collins last week. We wanted to acknowledge the passing of another gay trailblazer, someone who was willing to live their truth and live like their authentic life, maybe win it when it wasn't always easy. And he did spend his last few weeks on earth criticizing the the left, the far left, as they do. But as they do. As they do, but to be able to like live in your authenticity and live with courage is is something to be commended.
SPEAKER_01So yeah, he came out in 1987, which is a very, very, very, very it's not like today. So the fact that he did it so early, I will give him we we can hold two things in one time in one space. Yeah, we appreciate that.
SPEAKER_04May he rest in peace. Yes. So yes. Also, I don't know if you saw this morning. We're recording this on Thursday, May 21st. The DNC also just released their autopsy of the 2024.
SPEAKER_01Oh, they did? They released it. They're lucky I didn't get to see that first because this is a whole episode.
SPEAKER_04I like I had a chance to review it, but like on all of the pages that are like, these are not the actual opinions of the DNC, and this is the opinion of the author. And like all the news articles about it are just like, yeah, they release it. It doesn't really say anything about what's in it, but we'll probably talk about that more as more information comes out of it and we have a chance to review it.
