We learned a lot of stuff. Shout out to Randy van Trecht. Yeah. Shout out to this guy. We needed like three balls of water because that's how much we were talking. It was a good conversation. It was no, it was beyond good. Yeah. That's what I thought. He came with a correct, like, say nothing about that.

Carnival Weekend Recap Begins
SPEAKER_01This this Thursday, 7 p.m., don't miss it. I was like, man, even it was one of those episodes where for the it was an hour, it's an hour and like 40 minutes, I think. We didn't talk much. And we we asked questions back and like we saw like reagir, but no cool back. It was insightful. You're not even gonna see me on the screen. I was just like this, like what? Anyways, this Thursday, 7 p.m. Please don't miss it. I highly suggest everybody watch it. So this past weekend was the last carnival week. It was it's how was Shark came in and walk in like manka? You know?
SPEAKER_03You were struggling walking up those stairs. You were struggling.
SPEAKER_01You walk over to me over there, you're like, I'm like, man, at least your niece survived.
SPEAKER_03Yo, okay. So, first of all, let's give a shout out to my doctor, the one that operated me. He's okay. Um, wait, what's um Hunders, Hunders, Dr. Hunders? Shout out to Dr. Hunders.
SPEAKER_01She did her big one because, like, post-operation lightning parade, caraval, nah, and I was like on the floor, okay. And she's like, man, you just busting that knee again. She did her big one, like in the Sunday, the big parade in Pabo. I literally missed you for like fucking three minutes. I walked over, I'm like, I see, and I remember you saying like groove masters, like, oh, it's a shark's group. Yeah. And I saw I'm fucking running, trying to catch you. And then I walk over, I cross the street, go to the hotshots um tent, and like, hey, no, they told me, Apenas, me don't think mama.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, because we were in the section right in front of the band. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01So but Oh, so you so when I saw them, they were you were right there. So I probably just missed you like for like two, three minutes.
SPEAKER_03Probably, because we had the relay. So it was like the relay, um, one section, us, and then another section, then the band, and then more sections, and then I can see.
SPEAKER_01I got there when the when the band was right in front of us. Yeah, no.
Surgery, Knees, And Dancing Through Pain
SPEAKER_03So we were we already passed, like we were more in front. I'm sorry. Now you just saw my dad. I saw I saw so many people. I let me let's also give a shout out to the amount of people that uh fucking watch no filter. Shout out to all of y'all. Yeah, the amount of people I've seen every random places, not just this parade, like even the night ones. Like people are like, hey, me gusta business show me the Wabus Podcast. Do it the I'm talking about young, I'm talking about old. That's good. They're like, listen, religiously, we watch this shit, we love it. Um, command, salute. Okay, it was like, I was like, girl, we had a party. Like, boy, what you talking about now? But I was like, you know what? I appreciate the love. You know what?

Listen, Carnival, Carnival is like the best season ever. Like, there's no way in here. Like, do you like do you people understand what Carnival is? Like, a lot of places don't allow this. We get to dance on the road for hours. Nonstop. Nonstop, but people get to stand on the side and celebrate. Like, what this is the greatest thing ever. Like, you could just come, you could drink responsibly. Like, we don't even be like, nah, you're not allowed to drink. You're not allowed to do it responsibly on the side and your cavel and your whatever. Listen, I had a blast. Like, it was the best time ever. Um, shout out to my section. Um, I just found out that um I won dancing king. Apparently, not even a queen. Shark's a king? You're a man. Get in, okay.
SPEAKER_01I didn't have a voice to yell. So you, so I mean, listen, everybody's story that I saw that you're in it, bro, you're like up and down dancing. It's been like three years since I got to participate.
Band Sections And Possible Shakeups
SPEAKER_03So I was like. You participating again next year? Absolutely. Absolutely. Did you want to do a no-filter cavel? I ain't got time for that. I'm not gonna be there. I'm gonna be in the parade.
SPEAKER_01So what if all right, we need guys, we need somebody to bust his knees again so we can cancel him.
SPEAKER_03I rebuke that in the name of Jesus.
SPEAKER_01I would rather have you next year and then the year after that in a cava, and so you can save yourself a 75.
SPEAKER_03Do y'all hear what he's saying? Or I can just go to all and then 75 as well. Like, no. How about you join a fucking group?
SPEAKER_01Hear me out. So, this is why earlier, I cause I don't I don't know how this whole um thing works, the six section, and that's why I was asking you earlier. So, how how does one join a section? Do you pay a uh like this section is gonna cost 50,000 and you can come with this many people and you split the cost? Like, how does that work? The reason why I ask is because what if we had a no-filter section with DOB next year? So all our friends, anybody that that does no-filter fans, it's like is that a thing? How does that work? I don't think it would work like that because if we're not having a cav, maybe we'll have a section.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, no, because I feel like the the the then in that if it's like that, the cavel would make more sense because they don't have a masa. Their masa would be to to be with like n fusion. Okay, and shout out to Infusion, but I'm not paying no money to dance with them like that.

SPEAKER_01They're good though. I know you're passing by like well, we can think about it. We do a no-filter uh cavel next year, or I'm not mad at that. We'll get a we'll get like so does every band switch every year? How do you mean? So, like this year two groupmasters is with the UB. Will they be with you again next year?
SPEAKER_03I'm supposed to. That's normally that's how it goes, pero Guy at the Popia. You know how it goes. We don't fucking conspiracy theories. Okay, I don't know how true this is, but it's been the talk. Uh, a few people told me during the parades that they've heard that next year groove masters might not be going with um with TOB. And I've heard this with also um some people said that Champagne also might not be going with tsunami. Maybe they'll switch. I don't know. I don't know what is going on. I don't know if they're saying that Groove Masters might go on their own. And what? Open their own their own uh carnival group. So Groove Carnival Group?
SPEAKER_04Groove group.
SPEAKER_03I don't know what it would be called, but like then they would have like because like back in the days when there was like Le Groove, they had like pleasant and teasers. Please and Teasers was the Carnival Group, and then the band for them was Le Groove. Okay. So I don't know if that's something that they want to go back into now, because now the group is T.O.B. And the band that plays for them is Groove Masters. Groove Masters and Fusion, because TOB is a big group. So they got two bands, sometimes they have three bands, sometimes they add shine as well. Crazy. Yeah, it'd be it'd be buck wild then. But again, I don't know how true this is. This is what I've heard. Like a few people told me during the parade, like, I know I'm a scooch. Um baiku, other group, nang.
SPEAKER_01I was like, well. Oh, there was another edition of Kaita Papia. But uh, yeah, I was wondering about that. So cavel, or if you can buy a section and then you just have like you and your people like just like have a good time.
Why Some Cavals Felt Low Energy
SPEAKER_03Yeah, but the c like if it's a cavel, even though I'm not, I won't be there. I think stop, Sarah! You don't know yet. Stop, don't say that. I got all people too on the streets. Stop! You don't jump them. Don't jump the king. Okay, so what I've understood from like um what I've what I would prefer though is like lit people in the cavels. What is wrong with people? Like, people in the cavels were like dead this year. I was like, what the fuck?
SPEAKER_01Like okay, I have to agree.
SPEAKER_03I mean yesterday I was sitting in hotshots.
SPEAKER_01Don't get me wrong, there were some moments that were good. Not just cavl. I wasn't talking about about hotshot stuff, but just around us fully. In general. I'm just like, is it is it me? Or if we're just sitting down, just I felt very out of place because I'm there.
SPEAKER_03I'm dancing, I'm like, hey, sitting with the people. And I'm like, I'm looking at like specific people because like they are actually like singing along, but everybody else is just like there, like like they're dead and like they have like no emotions.
SPEAKER_01I mean, I was one of those people, don't get me wrong. I was just standing there. I'm I was enjoying carnivores. I'll dance when I can.
SPEAKER_03But that I feel like there's a difference with people that you because you see people that are enjoying and like they're watching the participants and they're like smiling and yada yada yada. But then you have other people that's just like they're just there, like it's just like go home. Yeah, like you took over somebody's spot, like somebody probably would have paid for you know these groups or whatever. Yeah, I even had to like look at, I even looked at Eddie, I was like, What's going on here?
SPEAKER_01What the fuck?
SPEAKER_03He's like, nah. He looked at me like, yeah, because Eddie was having a great time.

I'm talking about like cavels in general. Like the whole thing. I know what you mean.
SPEAKER_01I'm like I was I we were across from uh I'm still bright, Roman and all these guys. Yeah, like nothing. At least we had a DJ. We started whenever in between the big gaps, we'll play, everybody would have a good time. Whenever the bands pass by, um, what's it got? Tippitoe, whatever. Yeah, it's the one that's saying the horse. Tiptoe. Well, whenever I don't know, tippy toe. Even when he passed by, he was trying to interact, but I can see he wasn't getting the reaction he wants. Like, even I'm like, guys, come on, what the fuck is going on? Like, maybe let me be calm, but the rest of you motherfuckers seem to be doing something.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. I don't get I don't know what's going on.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, maybe, but it was also maybe the last day. Everybody was fucking tired because you know the they that's why it's the last day.
SPEAKER_03Like, this is it. There's no more after this. This is the last day. So, like, my feet were killing me. You think I'm not gonna have a good time? This is the last day. You need to get this done.
SPEAKER_01You do get a foot massage.
SPEAKER_03I need to, I really need to, but I got I bought this spray, did wonders. For like it's like a before, after, and during some type of like a like a icy hot type of thing.
SPEAKER_01I was gonna say that, yeah, yeah. But it was good.
SPEAKER_03That thing like numbed my foot, numbed my knee, numb everything. I was like, yes, baby. What last night I even I couldn't even sleep naked. That thing started numbing my balls.
SPEAKER_01I was I wasn't going that way with a joke. Some guys like, hey, hold up. All right, let me go.

Song Requests, Setlists, And Lizard Debate
SPEAKER_01All right, we got into much, we're gonna have too much information. Yeah, people are feeling uncomfortable. I'm sorry, guys. They're not, but uh one thing I realized there okay, there's a few songs I liked.
SPEAKER_04Ooh.
SPEAKER_01The horse one and donkey one. Yeah, first I'm I heard it live for the first time. It was good, good like interaction. But the one I liked the most and had a lot of emotion was the Born in Soka. Yeah, that for me was like, I'm getting good sons right now. Like, it's like you anybody who loves Carnival can relate to that song because it's it's more emotional than anything else, and it's the truth for all of us.
SPEAKER_03We all it's in our culture. We grew up on Carnival, we grew up in this music. We grew up on the feeling of being on the streets, yeah, celebrating with everybody. Like, oh, you want something to drink? Sure here. Oh, you feel hot. Let me get you something. We got a little bit of snacks, we didn't come together, but uh, that is what the whole genre and what the whole thing is about. That's the sphere. It's you were born into this, so it's only natural that this is what you know.
SPEAKER_01It's it's such a it was a good song.
SPEAKER_03It it is, it really is, it really is.
SPEAKER_01I was there for three hours, four hours, maybe. Not once have I heard Lord Lally's song. The the leisure cockin', not once, and it goes back to our last episode about like them boycotting that song. So I'm just like, and I saw the guy with infusion, yeah.

SPEAKER_01He he just stood there like, I mean, I'm sure he's super happy, he doesn't care. Like, don't play I don't give a fuck. Just like I already won this, he's people are loving him, and I've seen different kinds of shirts here, and they were just doped. I love that, but nobody played the song. Everybody paused passed by. They were playing old from last year, fucking it's raining, which is convenient because it started raining, which I get.
SPEAKER_03They went like way back in time, but you couldn't play the man's song that won, like again, there's different parts of where because again, uh so let me let me speak from a per from a perspective of a participant. Yeah, so like groove masters, they have their own version of the lizard cock in that they play. We've heard it like maybe three or four times throughout the parade. Wow, that's it. I mean and in carnival, everybody's a master of repeating the songs. No, but that's exactly why you pay for whatever band you're going with, because they have a catalog of music that you're like, hello, I want to hear your catalog. Yeah, that's why I'm paying for you specifically. Yeah, I'm going with this band because I want to hear their music catalog, all of the songs that they got, from oldest to the newest. I want to hear all of this. If I wanted to hear a different band's music, I would have probably gone to a different band that I can hear the different music. So the fact that they still played other songs was like, okay, we'll dance to it, but we ain't come for this. No shade. Yeah. So, but they do play it. They do play it throughout. So I guess other bands that have like less of their own original music, they would play more of other songs that you know are popping right now because they don't got much songs. It's what the people want to say. It's what the people want. Yeah. So if people aren't like requesting, like, hey, play the lizard kacken, they're not gonna do that because people are actually sending in requests from like days in advance, like, hey, I want to hear this song. I want to hear this song. So imagine if you have like sections on sections on sections requesting songs for uh God knows however long parade. That thing goes by real quick, and then you still got some songs that you need to repeat. Like Tiptoe Song or Born in Soka or like Maggie's song or even Energy by Blackie, talking about like my specific band now. You have to repeat those, plus you have to play all the request and still try to play like the winning song.

SPEAKER_01So how they do play it. But how long is the parade when you when you started? We started started at 11. You're you're the first group, right? We are, yeah. So what time did you reach the end? Like six months.
SPEAKER_03We got there. I want to say something about five, something, six o'clock. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01So I guess it's like a six hour parade then. You can play a lot of fucking songs in six hours. They they do. Yeah. They do. I mean it's like different, like as in you can repeat a few. They do. Yeah. I just maybe, maybe I it was just my bad luck that I wasn't able to hear the song there because maybe they later right before they showed up to us and then they played a little bit after.
Respecting Artists’ Limits And Logistics
SPEAKER_03So let me also add this this part to it that for like other bands, because I can't speak for my band anymore, I can speak for other bands. They also have the aspect of, especially in downtown parades, every time you pass in front of a radio station that wanna nominate Lord Lally as the ro jam, they're gonna have to play that song. So they probably play heard the same song like a bunch of times numerous times to different stocks. Yes, the beginning of the fucking parade. And that's from all there until you talk to the town weekend, the last the last radio, and then you're done officially. Now you can do whatever the fuck you want. Now you can play. Pero that's not fun for the participants. How much time am I gonna hear the same song over and over and over and over and over again?
SPEAKER_01I didn't just earlier when you were talking about like literally five minutes ago, you said something, and I'm like, huh, I didn't see it that way. Where I'm on the sidelines and I'm like, why aren't they playing this song? But those in the parade, like, um, with all due respect, fuck off. Because I paid to be here. I paid to be here, and I want you to play the whole catalog of what you have to play. Why are you playing this song like five times? I heard it like three times in the last 15 minutes. So I never saw that perspective.
SPEAKER_03Like, wrap it up. If you wanted to hear the song so bad, you should have participated with the group that he's gonna be in. This way you can hear the song as many times as you want to. You can even request it. But You can't be pile in something that you're not paying. Excuse me. This is my money. Like, I know what I want to hear. And another thing I feel like people aren't putting into consideration is Lord Lally's age. This is a lot for this man at his age. Like Luke and Alice, but when you look at the human side, he's still a human being. It is a lot of dragging this man all over the place. He's up all late hours to perform on stages. He's up early mornings to getting ready to go to the next location. And even for us, as young as we are, and you know, as active as we are, we get exhausted as fuck. Like it's like, oh, stop inviting me to I'm not coming no more.
SPEAKER_01I I'm tired right now. And we've been sitting in this chair for like two hours with a previous conversation. We just had an interview. And I'm and I didn't even move, and I'm tired.
SPEAKER_03So just imagine for this poor man in the sun everywhere all over this entire season. It's it's it's cute. And I know people are like fighting, like, oh no, yo, give the man some grace. Like it's a lot. It is really a lot. He's not a young chicken anymore. Like it's a grown man. So I don't know. I just feel like it is what it is. It really is what it is. You know, Carnival is finally over now. I think these conversations probably now gonna die down, hopefully. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03Yeah, I think I think for that, I think balls-wise, Nicole is the person. She got the balls, but it's like everybody says, like, she's not leaving Buladia. That's her baby. She uh she's been rocking with that band from the get-go. So for her to like leave them now to go take over like volunteer work for Carnival, and then you know people are like very ungrateful about everything. It's like ruin my reputation for what?

SPEAKER_03I saw a lady to um in the parade as well. Um she was like standing on the sidelines. Who? Some lady we were passing by. Remember, we had this conversation about what BDQA posted? And she just stood there and she was like, we were passing by, she was like, mm-hmm. I said, This bitch, listen, old lady. What we not about to do is fuck up my parade right about now.

SPEAKER_03I guess because she had like a lizard song, uh, lizard shirt on, so you know that what they were here.

Yeah, yeah. From far, I see no cars. I was like, no fucking way. And I remember it's Carnival Monday. And I get there and I see like, oh, they're probably gonna be closed. So I looked it up. It opened at 8. That's why I came to the studio super early in the morning to set it up and then go back. And then go and then went and work out at 8. Okay, then coin. I for me it was just it was just Monday. It wasn't there was nothing.
SPEAKER_03I felt the same way until I realized I was like, oh fuck. It's a fucking day off. I even went to the beach. I was like, oh, let me just go relax, soak these legs a little bit, because baby. But nah, I think that was that was pretty much it. Like, I'm I'm glad carnival is over now. You know, what's next? Um Ash Wednesday camping is coming up.
