In this episode of No Filter in Paradise, we take a step back from guest interviews and let the community drive the conversation.
After a run of episodes covering mental health, activism, and major social issues in Aruba, we recap the topics that sparked the biggest reactions and respond to the comments coming from YouTube, Facebook, and our listeners.
Some of the feedback is thoughtful, some of it is controversial, and it raises a bigger question: when do strong opinions actually turn into real solutions?
We also preview an upcoming conversation with Zoe from Luna Foundation, which opens up a real discussion about animal rescue in Aruba, stray animals on the island, and the work being done to care for parts of the community that are often overlooked.
Another highlight is a community initiative we genuinely respect — a mobile support unit providing hot showers, nursing care, and laundry services to people in need. It’s a simple idea that restores dignity and routine for members of the community who need support the most.
From there, we dive into some of the biggest debates happening on the island right now:
Tourism development in Aruba
Hotels vs Airbnb and vacation rentals
How to keep more tourism money on the island
Locally owned lodging vs housing monopolies
Activism vs real policy solutions
We also touch on the World Baseball Classic and where Team Netherlands currently stands.
If you care about Aruba’s future, tourism, local business, and community solutions, this episode is for you.

SPEAKER_01Before we start today's episode, we just want to let you know that Shark and I are finally going to the radio, which means every single Saturday you can tune in on XFM 102.7, hang out with us, play some good music. We got a bunch of giveaways and just an overall good time and vibe. So tune in Saturday, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Enjoy the episode.
unknownPeace.
SPEAKER_01I don't want to say it this way, but this is my. Say whatever you want to say.
SPEAKER_02Sometimes I say things I don't mean it this way. Take it. It's what it is. It's like a little child throwing a tantrum. Do it. You know, it's not gonna solve anything.
SPEAKER_03I think it's it's falls in line where now it's our turn to jump in and help from where we can. We have a platform, so we'll help from where we can and shine noise from our platform to the public. Weakest.
SPEAKER_02Anyway, somebody replied, weakest episode today, but episode must be used in 3D nanko the Via DSD, Mike Aman.
SPEAKER_03I enjoyed the service. I think we're still used the luxury service so much that it always puts you in that sphere of Don't make it sound like we're like bougie. No, I'm not the first one. Like, hold up. Okay, well, let me put it for me. Could never work in there because like you are the ghetto. Like this is not for you. Uh, but I do feel like people, especially that watch the clips, they only watch the clips, so they don't run with like, okay, you didn't watch the whole episode to have like a full perspective.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, but she like watched the whole episode.
Catching Up And Recent Guests
SPEAKER_03Yeah, freaking funny. I don't even give a fuck about nobody. She was like, Won't you? I know, quinta. Hey yo, what's up? Allah chemistas.
SPEAKER_02Guys, the attitude Shark just gave me is because I insulted the Queen of Rap.
SPEAKER_03Hannah Montana, Nicki Minaj, Sam. You know she had beef with Miley once, no?
SPEAKER_02Really?
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Why? Like Miley was good. I'm sure she got scared. Like, fuck. I ain't fucking like it. She had better. She was like on the other side of the MTV award. She was like with her big finger. Like, she was like, Well, Nikki. When was this? This was a few years ago.
SPEAKER_02I don't know how you remember these things, man.
SPEAKER_03Memory.
SPEAKER_02Anyways, guys. Welcome back. Jesus.
SPEAKER_03I'm so sorry.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, this is the first time you're dropping the intro.
SPEAKER_03I know, right? Don't do that. Alarm goes up. Don't do that. Y'all, I'm the black and gay one. Per. Okay. What's goodie, Mr. Waterboy? Mr. Waterboy. I'm drinking a lot of water lately, guys.
SPEAKER_02We are so proud of you. I know, man.
SPEAKER_03You got good skin now.
SPEAKER_02Losing weight.
SPEAKER_03Look at you.
SPEAKER_02Like three, almost four kilos down. Proud of you. Can't tell you too much what's going on.
SPEAKER_03Not yet.
SPEAKER_02If you heard if you're on the radio with us, guys, every Saturday on the radio from 10 to 12. Shark kind of asked me a question about what I'm doing. I'm like, we can't be talking about that in public right now.
SPEAKER_03So stupid.
SPEAKER_02But yeah, anyways, we'll talk about it eventually. We're gonna have a full episode about this. Give me like three more weeks until the results are in. Okay.
SPEAKER_03So today we gotta we gotta full docket.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, we we wanted to take a little break. The we've been getting a lot of good feedback from people, at least on my end. I'm sure you too.
SPEAKER_03Oh, absolutely.
SPEAKER_02People are loving the last episode we did with Tisa, Randall von Tricht, Nigel. It's a good trend. Take a little pause here because we want you guys, if you haven't seen the episodes yet, please go back and watch them. We talk about mental health.
SPEAKER_03A and a lot of social problems I feel like we tackled. And it was really not even intentional, guys. Like it was not planned this way.
SPEAKER_02It literally was not planned.
SPEAKER_03At all. Mike Ayman, none of it. It was just like, okay, him we had planned.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, because he was supposed to come in December.
SPEAKER_03Last year.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and then like he couldn't, and then now he could. And even that got pushed back a few times.
SPEAKER_03So it was like ah, whatever. Like, whatever.
SPEAKER_02And then we had we talked about I don't know with who on a previous episode, and somebody commented we should have Rand van Tricht. So we reached out.
SPEAKER_03They commented a few times. Yeah. Actually, shout out to them. They reached out to us. Yeah, shout out to And I don't know who exactly it was, but they commented a few times. They're like, Y'all should have Rand Van Tricht on.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_03I was like, okay.
SPEAKER_02Okay. And then we brought it on. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I I learned that day. Fantastic. It's one of those episodes like we always say, we we don't talk that much because we just sit, stay quiet, and absorb all the information that's been given to us and to you guys as well. So that was a great episode. And then we follow up with Tisa.
SPEAKER_03After a few years, after three years.
SPEAKER_02It's been after the last time we did it with her was three years ago-ish in Ken Wolf's studio, old studio.
SPEAKER_03Damn.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_03That's a little throwback.
SPEAKER_02That's not even existing anymore because of the whole condo situation.
SPEAKER_03Uh shout out to the wolves though. Yeah. Hey.
SPEAKER_02And then we have, and then because of this episode and talking about masterism, we were like, I think it's a good time to bring Nigel. And we that's somebody we wanted to bring on the podcast in the past. Yeah, you know me. Heavy on it. And I know he's been on your show. Yeah. So we're like, okay, let's bring him. Again, nothing was planned. Everything was like, all right, let's just keep going. I think we should really keep tackling this part. So we brought Nigel on board. Now we're taking a little break. Chill to him there, but go look at the past episodes if you haven't.
Next Guest And Animal Rescue Talk
SPEAKER_03Um we're giving you time.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02And next week, we were just talking about this before we started recording. We're like, what else? What's something else that we should bring attention to on the show that not not many people talk about? And then we're like, Zoe, Luna Foundation.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I'm excited for that.
SPEAKER_02I know, I know we wanted to bring her on a while back. We want to bring her to do her in that that dog.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02That during that time, but then couldn't happen. And so now we're bringing her on. That dog. Khaliesi. Khaleesi like a Game of Thrones.
SPEAKER_03I hate you.
SPEAKER_02Am I wrong?
SPEAKER_03I wouldn't. You know I don't watch cartoons.
SPEAKER_02Game of Thrones is not a cartoon.
SPEAKER_03Sam. Sci-fi, but it's cartoons. It's real people. It's fake. They can't, they're doing things that we people can't do.
SPEAKER_02What do you mean? They're fighting, they're killing each other. Fucking. You tell me you can't do any of that? Why are you laughing at killing?
SPEAKER_03I'm not laughing. I'm not laughing at that. I'm just laughing at like you're so stupid.
SPEAKER_02That's the thing. I'm like, what do you mean?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that's true. I mean, there's no dragons. It's cartoon. Exactly. Anyways. I've never watched that show. I've tried. I have a friend, shout out to TD. I've tried to watch. He like he legit begged me to watch his show numerous times. I've tried, like Sam, I kid you not like four or five times. I've tried. I watched it like the first episode. Four or five times. Four or five times. And I could always remember the part winter is coming. Something like that. I remember like in the woods, there were like people and they were like running back and all this good stuff. And I'm like, oh, this is so boring. Like I just switch it off. The same place every day. Great show. That's what everybody keeps saying. They're like, no, you have to get through the first two episodes and then it gets good. I'm like, the first episode is hard. I'm sorry. Like, I'm not sure.
SPEAKER_02What kind of shows do you like? I mean, sorry, segue waiting over here, but what shows do you like?
SPEAKER_03It really depends.
SPEAKER_02Like, I depends on what. Like the P. Diddy show. Like, you like that. You like documentaries.
SPEAKER_03Wait, hold on.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Y'all watch the whole thing. These are the whole P Diddy. And it's pop culture. I love pop culture. So it's it's different. Because it's stories you've heard all throughout the year.
SPEAKER_02Okay, did you watch the one of Michael Jordan?
SPEAKER_03No.
SPEAKER_02Docu series. I love Docu series. Michael Jordan. No, I didn't watch it.
SPEAKER_03It has to be entertainment for sure.
SPEAKER_02Michael Jordan is entertaining. Maybe it's not Nicki Minaj entertaining, but it's a great story. It's called The Last Dance, I think. I'm just surprised how they have all those films from back then, still now. It's crazy. It's like they planned it.
SPEAKER_03No. Maybe. I don't know. No, that's not how that works.
SPEAKER_02If you if you saw the clip, you understand. Like they have things in the back room moment. I don't know how to explain it, but just go watch it. It's great.
SPEAKER_03I mean, you probably plan that you're recording. Like, hey, let's record something for something. And they probably a lot of the times they're recorded for different intentions, like to do something else with it.
SPEAKER_02And then how do you know you're gonna be using it in third like 30 years?
SPEAKER_03They don't. That's what I'm saying. They they probably recorded that and that moment for something else. No, they probably something else, and then it the deal probably fell through. Like, look like the Diddy documentary. All that footage, apparently, he didn't pay the videographer, so it became his property. So he was like, hey, listen, you're not paying me for this. Then I have all this footage from following this man for 50 days leading up. So yeah, that's 50, though. He's hella petty.
SPEAKER_02Well, there is a there is a a docuseries right now about dinosaurs. It's pretty it's number one on Netflix right now. I can't help it. I can imagine. I can't help it. I'm not sure.
SPEAKER_03I feel like lazy people watch Netflix, so they'll have time for that. For I don't watch, I watch Escape. No, I'm just saying. I'm just saying. Anyways, but we segue. Um, yeah.
SPEAKER_02So yeah, guys, we're bringing we're bringing um Luna Foundation on the show. And we want to talk. She has a cow.
SPEAKER_03She has a cow back to it.
SPEAKER_02You saw on Facebook. Uh, is this a it's a farm?
SPEAKER_03Rescue.
SPEAKER_02It's a farm.
SPEAKER_03Well, actually, she did she actually posted how many animals she has.
SPEAKER_02Okay, look it up.
SPEAKER_03Like the farm animals. Wait. That's crazy. Wait, wait. Keep talking, keep talking.
SPEAKER_02I don't know what to say. I'm speechless. She has a cow.
SPEAKER_03She has a cow. She has pigs as well, though. Yeah, she got it walls. She got it wall.
SPEAKER_02It's the next Phillip Animal Garden.
SPEAKER_03Right? Okay, and the cow is pregnant.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02Okay, so she has what's what do you call a baby cow?
SPEAKER_03A calf?
SPEAKER_02Good job.
SPEAKER_03Smart in that. Shout out to Farmville. Really? Yeah. Damn. Okay, so she has seven goats, ten pigs, 25 rabbits, four toy toys, one cow. For what? For what?
SPEAKER_02You're not scared of that so easily. For what? For what?
SPEAKER_03Chickens to follow. For what? We got eggs. Okay, so she said meet Betsy. Oh, look at Betsy the cow. Great. Betsy looking at the cow. She's pregnant, so she's gonna be a mom. For what? So okay, so on the document. Turtles.
SPEAKER_02All right. Y'all heard it. Y'all can rewind it if you want. Hear it again. Because he tried to skip it so he's trying to say it so fast as if we're not gonna catch it. You think you're gonna say some shit wrong and I'm not gonna catch it? What is wrong with you? I just called you smart. Take it back.
SPEAKER_00You made it worse. And you made it worse? Like, keep fucking reading the list.
SPEAKER_03Because why would you continue to just be like, what did you say? Shut the fuck up.
SPEAKER_02Guys, you don't understand. Oh, I feel warm right now. Listen, it's not every day I guess you throw a short like this under the bus. So whenever I get it, bro, I fucking think vanish.
SPEAKER_03Probably chow. Oh, that's funny. It ain't too many of them. Oh god. Okay, even though, like, I'm not gonna lie, like Saturday, I tanked with Centu.
SPEAKER_02I'm reading this crib and I'm like, what are you doing? Like, and I'm kind of picking. Kind of sorry. If you listen to the radio show, you know what we're talking about.
SPEAKER_03Sam, just jump in up, let's go.
SPEAKER_02I'm waiting for you to finish your repeating. And I'm looking at you like, yo, I think you need help. So I just jumped in and just kept talking.
SPEAKER_03Guys, I'm sorry. You're asking me the question, like, right? You tell me. With that being said, y'all, shout out to Send2, okay. It's one of our sponsors on the radio. We love it.
SPEAKER_02Every Saturday from 10 to 12. Alright, don't get don't get it twisted. Why do you say that with couldn't get it twisted? It's like it twisted. It's like your son, like your signature study. Like Pediatico. Alright, so yeah, so Zoe's gonna come on the show next week. And um, so I want to take this opportunity to say if if you guys think there's anyone that we should bring on the show that you think we should, you know, talk to. Like we had Randall with Sekte Junto, Tisa from Ahata, um, Nigel talk about masterism and his whole shtick activism stuff. And then we have a Zoe, which like you know, a lot of there's a lot of stray dogs, straight cats, animals, yada yada.
SPEAKER_03All type of straight animals at this point.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, so all those little taboo conversations that nobody wants to shine a light on, we want to shine a massive light on.
SPEAKER_03I mean, we already have this platform, so we might as well, you know.
SPEAKER_02So, um, yeah. Let us know. So keep us posted. Yeah, please. I was gonna say something.
SPEAKER_03Um, what what do you want to say?
SPEAKER_02I forgot. But, anyways, what are we gonna say?
Shout-Out To Mobile Care Unit
SPEAKER_03Okay, I think it's time for us to like jump into some segments. Guys, we want to like tackle some highlights, okay? Some stuff that we got going on, some stuff that we realize. And, you know, we always keep saying, like, oh guys, we want to normalize commenting, we want to normalize commenting. So I think it's time that we also highlight the commenting as well, as much as we want to normalize because y'all, y'all, oh yeah, y'all definitely stepped up with the normalizing. I I have to give y'all that y'all definitely stepped up, y'all be commenting. Y'all got some useful buzz in. So annoying.
SPEAKER_02We asked something, we got it, now I'm like, fuck.
SPEAKER_03Take it back. I take off the notifications.
SPEAKER_02I have to turn mine off. Yeah. Uh you guys had a lot to say. So we're gonna read some comments. Um, can I say one thing before we start this? Go ahead.
SPEAKER_03Absolutely.
SPEAKER_02I want to get one we just mentioned already, but technique, shout out to them. They got they have a new, what would you call it?
SPEAKER_03The mobile unit.
SPEAKER_02The mobile unit. It's basic.
SPEAKER_03It's fantastic.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, we were there for the launching of it, and it's basically so it's like they have two showers. Oh, it's two.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, they have two showers, or it's one, I'm not too sure. I think it's two. They have two showers, they have hot water available. Yeah, they have another um, the middle area is where the nurses are gonna be seated. So they'll be in there, and if they have any wounds or whatever, they'll get treated. They'll get treated right there directly, right in there. That's why the nurses are there. So they're in that, they're in there all the like the whole time that it will be parked. And they can go in, get help with whatever wounds, and be on your way. You don't have to ask no as it vehed, no doctor, none of that. On the house, it is done. Okay, and then they also have like in there a laundry mat. Well, they have they have clothes that they give them, so each of them are gonna get assigned three outfits, and it's up to them to maintain the outfits clean and all the good stuff, so that's why they have the other unit, the second unit, which is where the laundry mat is. So they get to wash their clothes in their the clothes that they provide to them.
SPEAKER_02I wanna say I was there for the whole thing. I just had to go at the end. Yeah, like when they pull up the whole truck and they opened it up, it's like a menisna me promet, me's not thick forever.
SPEAKER_03They did they definitely do.
SPEAKER_02And I had to leave. I'm like, I'm gonna do dinner. I had to go. Yeah. But uh, it looks super dope.
SPEAKER_03It is crazy, super nice.
SPEAKER_02It even has like a little shade thing that comes out, like a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit they're gonna have like a like a uh sorry, just to add what you're saying.
SPEAKER_03They're gonna also gonna put like a like a little domino table outside. So if they want to play domino, just to let them feel like handed back the barrio, like to really give them that. That is uh the most island thing you could do is play dominoes. Yeah. So the fact that they're gonna have like a thing so they can just sit down and just play dominoes. And if you want to feel free to come play dominoes with them, by all means.
SPEAKER_02And also like it it gives them a little bit of a social activity.
SPEAKER_03Fresh out of a shower, sit here, play some dominoes, wait for your clothes to clean. Like, hello. So, shout out to Sticky Huntu. They definitely checked that up.
SPEAKER_02Finally, somebody's doing something.
SPEAKER_03Nah, I heavy on that.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
Reading Comments And Audience Messaging
SPEAKER_03So, with that being said, Stick the Huntu's comments, okay?
SPEAKER_02So, um I have a little bit of mixed up here, so I don't know. I just screenshotted them, but oh gosh.
SPEAKER_03Sounds like a Sam. Um, okay, so Sam is gonna be doing the Facebook one, so shout out to everybody on the socials, and I'll be doing the ones from YouTube, okay? So one of them that I got from YouTube says, um, shout out to Julissa Laclay, 5199. She says, I'm the high curandal por dirigize the Aruba. I agree. I agree with you, girl.
SPEAKER_02I like how he talks about allocating money where it's needed. And use like if this only costs 20,000, why are we paying 300? Explain this to me. He even said that in the podcast, he said might be wrong. They had a contract, or somewhere there was a contract for a luxury catering service, and they were paying let's say 80,000 florins a month, but now they're paying 20,000 florins a month to another sticking that needs the money, um, unimang or something like that, and they make the meals for those in need.
SPEAKER_03And if I'm not mistaken, I don't know if you realize, but people from that same stichting was the the servers that night.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_03So you see that they continue utilizing where it's needed. Yeah. And I enjoyed the service. I think we're so used to luxury service so much that it always puts you in that sphere of don't make us sound like we're like bougie again. No, I'm not sure. Okay, well, let me put it for me. I'm so used to luxury service because I worked in like um in the industry for so long. Anytime you come out of that, it's every time it's like, you could never work in there because like you are the ghetto. Like, this is not for you. But I feel like this humbled me in such a way where it was like, this is the essence of unbong rubiano. Like, is I bung? I know the one girl. She was so hilarious.
SPEAKER_02She was funny. And some of them were fans of the show, by the way.
SPEAKER_03Listen, yeah, I that that's my girl.
SPEAKER_02But that other one the little short girl is like, bro, she passed, she walking out with a croquette. And I'm I'm standing on the side and I'm listening. Croquette, no, and then I hear saying, I mean, I mean, I don't get it. But what's uh me open, I was dying, bro.
SPEAKER_03She didn't give a fuck about nobody. She was like, I know, but she just kept pushing, like, too bad. Hey, I enjoyed it. Like, to me, they were so entertaining. Like, I wasn't even listening to the speeches at some point. I was just waiting to see, like, okay, where's she gonna go next? Like, who's gonna take us in that?
SPEAKER_02And the body, and the body language to us fine. Yeah, like they all had different like like characters.
SPEAKER_03It's true, it was hilarious. I enjoyed it so much. So shout out to Stick Day Huntu for sure. Okay, what is your just before we forget? Every Monday and Friday, it's no filter eats. Link in description so you can find out way more information.
SPEAKER_02Well, no, keep going with YouTube, because mine are mine are all like mine are Tisa, Nigel.
SPEAKER_03Okay, uh well, let's move on because I just took one of each. So that was my random one. That was my random take takeaway.
SPEAKER_02Okay, because I he so Shark was looking on like YouTube. I was on Instagram, sorry, on Facebook, Reels looking at comments.
SPEAKER_03But they're taking a little bit more on the unhinged side. Yeah, that's what I'm just like. They are, they are, but people are passionate, so you have to understand it's and and I and I get it.
SPEAKER_02So somebody, somebody sat here. I mean, I'm not gonna mention names, but uh question: how can I send you guys a message when you guys are live? First of all, we're not live. Today is actually Monday. You're watching this on Thursday. Hello.
SPEAKER_03Sorry to let you know that Sam from the past here.
SPEAKER_02Yeah just go follow follow us on Instagram. We post every single every time we have a guest that you know that what we don't do that.
SPEAKER_03Don't sit here and lie. Every time there's a guest we post questions for them.
SPEAKER_02Well, sometimes if it's sometimes not every time it's political, yeah. So go on Instagram, DM us your question. That's all you have to do. Or email us at No Filter in Paradise.
SPEAKER_03I feel like Okay, you know what, guys? Drop a comment right now, okay? Because we're gonna do this. Drop a comment if y'all feel that we should post the guests before, just in case y'all have questions for them. Or do y'all feel like we should just interview them and just like yeah, it is see it after? Yeah, you know. But let us know that because that's a debate we be having here. So would be nice. Damn. All right. Just saying. I mean either way, you can also email us. Y'all are part of the show, so yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02So what what what's the next comment?
SPEAKER_03Okay, so next one we got was Tisa. Okay.
SPEAKER_02I have one for Tisa too.
SPEAKER_03All right, so for Tisa, we got WS2007 said, I'm looking at interview. Did you have to pick that comment? I've seen it, I've seen it.
SPEAKER_02I feel like you have something to say, otherwise you wouldn't have picked it.
SPEAKER_03Not in a bad way, but I just mean like I don't know. That that's that's one, but at the same time, like it was an interview about her. I saw some people had the same thing to say, like with Nigel's. It was like, uh uh why would the interview was all about him talking about him?
SPEAKER_02Oh yeah, I have that screenshot.
SPEAKER_03I mean, who do you want us who do you want him to talk about? Like, it's we're interviewing these people, we're not going based off of the full-on topic. It's them and it's also a topic. Yeah, so there are gonna be perspectives, and again, it's an opinion-based show. So we're getting we're looking for their opinion on the topic that we're talking about. So, yes, it's going to be about them, them, them, just like we give our opinions. It's about whatever we want. It's Sam's opinion.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, so we it's it's also a place for us to give them the space to see what they think. And like that's why we asked Tisa, what's your opinion of the solution? And she's a in the perfect world, it will look like this. That's her opinion. And I feel maybe you won't agree with it, that's fine. Maybe I won't agree with it, or doesn't matter. It's an opinion-based show. We say all we want, and you don't have to agree. We'll have different there, there are some things that Nigel would say, like, eh, it's whatever for me. I understand that that's what you believe in, but I think differently.
SPEAKER_03And I feel like Tisa was so fair, like from all perspectives. I feel like people that are probably giving comments, and I'm not saying um way as 2007, because I feel like you are consistently watching episodes. So shout out to you. Um, but I do feel like people, especially that watch the clips, they only watch the clips, so they they don't run with like, okay, you didn't watch the whole episode to have like a full perspective.
SPEAKER_02She said the teaser, they're replying to those people. Yeah, but she like watched the whole episode.
SPEAKER_03She was so honest because I feel like she talked about uh the hotels, yeah, the good and bad of them. She talked about the Airbnbs, the good and bad about them. She talked about the structure for the island. She talked about like every single aspect, even with the thing with Mike Ayman, like she clarified everything. She's not saying that he's a horrible person or he didn't work right. She's saying, hey, this is the process on how to do it right.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Who you have to sit with, who, how much in advance time we have to manage before we have a sit down. My lawyers have to, well not repasakumi and all this type of thing. So I feel like she was very honest and she was very fair.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I agree.
SPEAKER_03That's just yeah, my opinion on that.
SPEAKER_02So on Tisa, on TISA, somebody commented on Facebook Vacation rentals, if owned by locals, will only help families, the families, and the economy. Most of the money will stay on the island. Corporations collect the money abroad, and there is a scala of cost. Sorry, guys. Their contribution is mostly in the salaries of personnel. In fact, vacation rentals by locals are exactly what Professors Sam Cole suggested in 2005, namely, no more hotels and boutique, small-scale lodgings owned by Arubianos. So I guess what she's saying is no more hotels, none of that stuff. Like what I told her actually. Why can't a local person who has an Ashback build a small studio apartment that's nice next to her house, behind your house, somewhere on their property where they can host a family? Do you know what I mean?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and she said, Yeah, she said she agrees with it once it's locally owned. Yeah. Like I there needs to be limitations with every single thing. Because you can you're not gonna get because I also saw somebody comment and there was like, yeah, but it has to be, there still needs to be a structure, even if it's for locals, because what's gonna happen eventually you're gonna have like the same local families that can't afford it. They're now buying up all the homes. Also, and now one family, it's this now the monop the monopoly game started. Now one person owns all the vacation rentals, and now tanto bal.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_03So there needs to be also a limit to how many low each local can have. Or, you know, there's some type of structure needs to exist. There needs to be a Bible or a guide that says, hey, these are the rules and regulations of doing this.
SPEAKER_02I wonder if if you if if it's like kind of like opening a business. Like if you're opening a business with somebody abroad, the local person has to be 51% owner of the company. I don't know if you know about that. Yeah, yeah. Might be a little bit wrong. Why can why can't we implement that in Airbnbs? Oh, you want to buy a house here? Cool, it has to be co-owned. Like if you want to, if you want to buy it for rental purposes, you buy it with a local. At least, you know, at least the local owns half of the I don't know. Just I'm just throwing out, guys, again, opinions they show. I don't know.
SPEAKER_03I want to know who's the on the who's on guys, maybe he's watching. On the cover. They're not gonna say Sam. You think somebody's really gonna say hey, that's my fake account?
SPEAKER_02Does anybody know who that is?
SPEAKER_03That's not how fake accounts work. Okay. Um, what else? Do you have another comment for Tisa?
SPEAKER_02No.
SPEAKER_03Okay, let's move on to Nigel then. Uh, which was the last episode we did. Yeah. Somebody said, uh Pucks and Coffee said, I agree with Nigel, uh, with Nigel's cause, um, and I feel exactly what he feels. However, I do think he has room to improve by coming forward with strategic ways to help us transition to greener and more locally friendly policies. It is one thing to sit and say how badly everything is going, but it is another to come up with well-thought-out policies. This is what I want to see, because well-thought-out policies make people believe and have hope in your cause. I agree with that comment. I agree with it too. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Um, I mean, I I do agree, like, you know, he he was on the show, he said what he wanted to say, but he's say, say, say. He does, but with a sign, I get it. Very, like, what do you I know he mentioned, like very unorthodox strategic ways of promoting it. Great, but at the end of the day, policies are policies. I want to see you like, hey, I've written down this policy which could help with this law, which could enforce this to do this, and we will protect this. But you know, it's like, it's it's almost like I don't want to say it this way, but this might say say whatever you want to say. Sometimes I say things I don't mean it this way. Just take it. It's like a little child throwing a tantrum. Ah, do what you know, it's not gonna solve anything. You're just throwing a tantrum about the situation. Like you said, no more hotels, more hotels are still popping up. Well, you gotta change policies. I'm not attacking, I'm I'm just No, I get what you're saying.
SPEAKER_03And I get what I mean. It's not you're not the only person that feels this way. Clearly, that's how uh multiple people feel.
SPEAKER_02And I'm not attacking you, please, nobody nobody bought Facebook, no more, no filter.
SPEAKER_03Nigel is not emotional like that, so that's okay. What I would say though, I feel like this is to his point, like not me defending him, but just saying to his point, I think this is what he's trying to come to. Like, this is where community falls in place. He doesn't have clearly, he doesn't have funding, and he doesn't have um resources, that type of resources to execute stuff like this. So this is where community falls in place. If you have a large corporation or a company or whatever, and you can actually afford to do, you know, help him with the green research, and y'all should be contacting him, be like, hey Nigel, let's sit down and let's get to this. Hey, you know what? I know I see what you're doing here. This is actually the proper way to do it. Or this is actually, or you know what? We also did some research on this from our department here at this company that I work for. We wanna we wanna, you know, join in with a cause. I think it's up to the rest of the island and corporations and anybody that can fill in from any given point with whatever you can help with. This is where it falls in place. He is the vessel to make the noise. I feel like this is where now the community needs to fall in place because he's not doing it for himself, he's doing it for all of us to benefit from. So I think it's it's falls in line where now it's our turn to jump in and help from where we can. Oh, we have a platform, so we'll help from where we can and shine noise from our platform to the public. Somebody else could now be like, hey, you know what? No filter donated their platform. We want to donate uh these this type of research for Nigel, or we want to help him with the to write this law.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, or we want to he can he can be the amplifier to the people in the world. Which is what he's doing.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, but somebody is everybody else needs to come and do their own.
SPEAKER_02Amplifying certain things, like Zoe next week, we're gonna amplify her job.
SPEAKER_03And I feel like that's what community needs to do. Everybody needs to fall in line to where if somebody knows that they can record videos professionally, go and say, Hey, Nigel, I want to help you record your videos professionally. Yeah, let's document this thing the right way to show Aruba in a different light on the the reality of it, and do it in a way where it's like you're not.
SPEAKER_02I mean, I get the there's the whole activist way of doing things, but it's also an education way of doing it by putting your phone, get a night, get one of those mics,$70, put a mic there, Holly Land mark two, get it.$70, great mic. Connect to your phone and just talk, upload, talk, upload. Hey guys, I'm over here today at whatever they're doing this, so just updating you guys what's going on. He does that though. Yeah, but he no, he just put like educate people more about what the land is, what lives over here, give more detail to what's happening in the area.
SPEAKER_03So, anyways, uh yeah, I I I I can see that. I can see that. I can see both. I can see both.
SPEAKER_02Somebody said over here on Facebook two hours of look at me, worship me, look at me, I'm so great. Please somebody do an AI account of the amount of times the words I'm me, me, I comes out of his kid's mouth. Weakest episode today. Weakest anyway. Somebody replied, weakest episode today. But episode views, they Mike Aman, Tao Tibetan podcast. The haters view, stay mad. First of all, somebody said that yeah, first of all, thank you for defending. Okay, that's number one. Number two, it's inaccurate what you say because Randall von Trech still has a higher episode than Higel right now. So just letting you know, that's a fact. But uh, yeah, she's not wrong though.
SPEAKER_03Oh, that's crazy. Yeah, okay. So I think I feel like I replied to this comment as well from my personal, but I I I again, it's an interview about him.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Who is he supposed to talk about? Yeah, we're asking him for his opinion on these matters.
SPEAKER_02Like, I didn't know his dad died when he was two and his mom committed suicide at 18. That plays a massive role. Actually, you and Randall should shit together and have a conversation.
SPEAKER_03And his uh caretaker died in COVID.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Like so I it gives you a better understanding of where this guy comes from.
SPEAKER_03So and all he has is his island, yeah, and not even that, because they want to lock him up for protecting it. It's crazy.
Activism Versus Policy And Community Support
SPEAKER_02There's one person that says, without I think this is an episode where I meant the the church episode. By the way, guys, again, I'm gonna ask any any pastor on this they want to come on the show, like why are you gonna say that? Any pastor want to come on the show like I saw? Um because I was talking about the whole Joel Osteen thing, letting him inside the house, yeah, inside his church. Somebody said, Will you let someone some homeless or in need come into your house? Let's be honest here. The answer is no. What you didn't know is when I said that, there was a I think it's in Texas, there was a massive flood. A lot of people lost their house. It's different by putting somebody that's mentally challenged, they could like normal going through a hardship because her their whole house got swept away by something.
SPEAKER_03So that's kind of so that's it's a different perspective.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, so I just want to clarify that part. I think that's all I have.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, because we weren't even supposed to go on those comments, yeah. No, no, no.
SPEAKER_02I just saw him, I was like, I want to clarify that. Like, bro, it's it was a flood.
World Baseball Classic Catch-Up
SPEAKER_03Listen, it is what it is. Go watch the full episode. That's what you need to do. Go watch the full freaking episode.
SPEAKER_02Go watch all of them, guys. Go watch Tisa, go watch Um Nigel and go watch Randall. They're all good episodes, they're different. And I think that's pretty much all we gotta talk about today.
Quick Clarification On Church Debate
SPEAKER_03Yeah, we were well, we were gonna talk about uh the baseball game as well.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, Holland's losing, guys. What the fuck?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that's sad.
SPEAKER_02It is.
SPEAKER_03They got like how many players? So they got players from Aruba and Cirusao, right?
SPEAKER_02Curso, Aruba, Bonaire, and Bonaire as well? So oh my god. Aruba, Bonaire. Oh my god, Aruba, Curso. Are you slow? A little bit today. Aruba, Curacao, Sam Martin, and Holland. Okay, those four are part of the the Holland Kingdom of the Netherlands.
SPEAKER_03Okay, St.
SPEAKER_02Martin, look at you all joining the do wave. Let's get it. But yeah, they they in game one they lost to Venezuela, then they they beat Nicaragua in game two, and they lost pretty bad against Dominican Republic. But right now, Dominican Republic is the team to win this this championship. Okay, but they got even Americans are like, this team is like if you could have built a dream team of players.
SPEAKER_03Okay, but no, Sam, let's be all the way honest. Because I don't know shit about baseball. Like, I legit found out about these games a few days ago when we said it on the radio.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_03So, first of all, what I do know is I'm friends with a lot of these guys that went that are now playing in these places. Majority of the baseball guys from Aruba, they go to uh Santo Domingo to train. Yeah. Um, that's like playing against your freaking daddies. There, you're going there so you could get to the professional and best level. And now you're gonna play against them? Poof! You were raised here and then went to learn their tactics. They were born and raised with their tactics. Yeah, you are playing against the main Thanos. Yeah, you better come all the way to fuck correct.
SPEAKER_02Or no, it's it's it's the the three top teams right now is Dominican number one, Platano Power, like USA two, and I think Japan three.
SPEAKER_03I was so shocked with Japan.
SPEAKER_02Japan's up there.
SPEAKER_03Like they won the last they won the last world.
SPEAKER_02It's like the World Baseball Classic is the World Series. You told me about this.
SPEAKER_03Baseball world. I'm still shocked. Yeah, I heard Venezuela's a really good team as well.
SPEAKER_02Venezuela's also a good team as well. Where have they been? I didn't know this. I don't know. They're on their datership. I don't know. Were they always like they're all yeah, they're good. A lot of Venezuelan people play in in the MLB, Dominicans for sure as well.
SPEAKER_03Dominicans, I know. Yeah. Big Papi Ortiz. Is he from Dominican? He's from there, right? Okay, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Juan Soto also.
SPEAKER_03Okay, you're pushing it now.
SPEAKER_02I don't know so much. No, but like, luckily, like well, right now Holland is in the top spot. They can still qualify to go to the next round, but they have to win the next two games.
SPEAKER_03And and I feel like you were telling me something about they had to stop the game, this last game.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, because baseball goes to ninth, ninth innings, and they start with a seventh inning. Once you go like once you're once there's a 10th-point difference, and once it becomes 11, game over. Like, by it's like by default, game's over. Literally. Oh shit.
SPEAKER_03So they were like whipping their ass on the street. They lost.
SPEAKER_02They lost 12 to 1. 12-1?
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02But hey, it was a really it's a really, really hard team. So they're they're the ones favorite to win this tournament. It's all good.
SPEAKER_0312 to 1?
SPEAKER_02Best case scenario if Holland wins the next two games, they could still possibly go into the quarterfinals. Still possibly. Because it depends on the other teams if how much they win. So they're betting on I think Nicaragua or Israel to lose multiple games, so they can go higher.
SPEAKER_03They better stop betting on them to lose. They better start betting on them to win. Like Holland to start winning more.
SPEAKER_02If Holland won, if Holland loses any of the next two games, they're out. Damn. I don't know what.
SPEAKER_03At least the boys got the experience.
SPEAKER_02They're playing Israel next, and I think maybe Venezuela again or Nicaragua. Those two. Damn. I'm hoping Nicaragua, because if it's Venezuela.
SPEAKER_03But then when they get to the next round, then they can't, they're gonna get their ass kicked again. Or this is it.
SPEAKER_02No, if they get the next round, they go into the quarterfinals and they have to play against whoever's in that bracket.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, man. I mean, they also lost two good players, Holland. Um Profar.
SPEAKER_03Who's that?
SPEAKER_02He's uh he's a outfielder from Curaçao. He got caught with um steroids. Oh yeah, he's out of the whole season. So not only for this game, but the whole baseball season for this year, he's out. He can't play until next year. Fucked.
SPEAKER_03And what team does he play for?
SPEAKER_02Like normally either Padres or Atlanta. One of those two. I'm not missing. I don't remember. One of those two. And there's another guy against Scope. He's from Curacao. Apparently, I'm might be wrong. He's also not on Atlanta because he got in some sort of situation in Curaçao with gang relations and caught with like weapons and yeah, so they have to like scratch him out too.
SPEAKER_03Oh no.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, so they lost two really good Curaçao players, and they're good, like Profur is really good as well. So it is what it is, guys. It's ended here. It's a little bit of a just shark and I chilling episode. Yeah. Recapping our last few episodes, baseball, just chill episode. Nothing crazy.
SPEAKER_03We had a good weekend as well, so yeah. You already know, guys.
