Why Authentic Aruba Content Matters More Than Perfect Ads | EP 252
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Aruba tourism ads often show the perfect version of the island: empty beaches, flawless couples, blue water, and no real life in the background. But does that actually represent Aruba?
In this episode, we talk about the disconnect between glossy destination marketing and the real Aruba locals experience every day. We ask what makes Aruba instantly recognizable, how tourism campaigns can feel more authentic, and why showing the real island does not mean killing the magic.
We also get into our own branding, updating the intro, planning a photo shoot, confidence on camera, and body image. Plus, we recap Kave K, tease upcoming guests like Miles and Tony Van Veen, and clarify an important point from our UTV conversation after ATA reached out with context about their “Local Vacation Hero” campaign.
And yes, we also talk food, hot sauce, Curaçao, Bonaire, and where we should go next.

Big News: We’re On Radio
SPEAKER_02Listen, I know the episode is about to start, but I just gotta tell you this. We are now going to be on the radio. XFM 102.7 FM babies, no filter is about to take over. So your Saturday mornings are about to be even better. Okay, enjoy the show now.
Why Aruba Ads Don’t Feel Local
SPEAKER_02Very unfortunate. It's really, really unfortunate. And like you said, like it's like it kind of sucks as a local seeing commercials, promoting Aruba, and you're like, I don't recognize that one person on there.
SPEAKER_01I agree, but I don't fully agree also because Aruba means different for every single person. And I've always said this like a higher super professional film, whatever you want to call them. They want to paint like Aruba beautiful, walking on the beach with your girl, smiling. There's nobody behind you in reality, there's like 55 people behind you. That's I know you want to paint it that way, but that's not really the reality.
SPEAKER_02But it's generic. That's what I mean. It is generic. Nothing that what what represents around what is one thing that Aruba has that no other place has? Those are the things that you should do.
SPEAKER_01I'm asking you, what are they?
unknownLook around, Sam.
SPEAKER_01People portray Aruba and how they use strappy picture. The one person laying in the water. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02If you just look at like what gets promoted for Aruba, it's like where's that? I don't know this place for I've never been there. Like, iconic places of Aruba is what we should see, is what we don't get to see.
Updating Our Intro And Look
SPEAKER_01Hey yo, what's up? Ally chemisters. Guys, welcome back to the ABC Island Scripture Podcast. No filter in Paradise. They show up about anything and everything between two friends. One is straight and the other. The baddest bitch. Do you think we'll ever like make alter like altercations to our altercations? No. Altercations, like it's fighting. But like changes to our intro? Alterations. Alterations, yeah. Sorry, I didn't eat yet. My brain is not 100%. Um, I feel like you really want to, but it's like intro, but then what why don't we just like yeah, welcome back, guys? Anyway, so just jump straight into the fucking conversation.
SPEAKER_02Because that's not us, that's probably somebody else's podcast. That's not our podcast. Our podcast is some people love to say it with us.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I I I wonder. Do you guys like sit in your stuff like show anything, everything, and they do friends? Kind of like singing like to an intro.
SPEAKER_02Yes, you do. Listen, once you watch something on a consistent basis, it's automatic. People do it with my radio show. I do it with people that I watch. I know their intro, so it's like what even if you're not even paying attention that you're saying it, you're just saying it. You're just like no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no, and you know the emotion of how they're gonna say it. It just it's part of the feel of you can't help it.
SPEAKER_01Familiarity. Like it if it's like playing in the background, you know, like it is what it is, like you're just part of it. Like even if you don't say it like you're in your head, like a TV show or like a song.
SPEAKER_02They get mad every time I don't say probably super duper black and gay. It's like bum.
SPEAKER_01Okay, but maybe maybe this one we keep the same. But what about the the intro intro? Because I think two things need to change.
SPEAKER_02Oh no, they need to change. Y'all heard it?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's why we're doing a photo shoot next week. The intro. The the like the actual intro before our intro. Okay, that like that could change that. That that that's that's that's what I mean. Like, maybe we can change that and obviously the wording, that's what you meant. Don't don't yeah, that I meant I meant that, but the point we mocked.
SPEAKER_02That is normal. That bit's something we've been sent this.
SPEAKER_01And and that's something we just like made on the whip, actually, Max. Start off the mox. Max is the one that created the no-filter logo and made this intro within like five minutes, guys. Like, and it was Max, we're intro.
SPEAKER_02So that's like a standard.
SPEAKER_01Okay, okay, okay. So that's something once we So that was the one.
SPEAKER_02What was the two?
SPEAKER_01This one, and then so two things the pictures and like the intro song. Like maybe, maybe we we find I I want to create a new intro, guys. Maybe maybe if somebody's watching and you want to do this for us, we highly appreciate it. We can talk about compensation too if you want. But uh, like I want to create an intro and it's like our vibe, but like I want to showcase people who have been on this show. What's uh musruniru, must rum crestric, must r but like just like highlighting certain people. You know how we have certain intros?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, but our editor can do that.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I know, I know, I know. But like, but but but the get can be given?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, have a new song of like the yeah, that's normal.
SPEAKER_01But that's what I want to create for a new intro.
SPEAKER_02So make it Okay.
SPEAKER_01Wait, what are you yelling at me? I'm not yelling. I'm why guys is yelling.
SPEAKER_02You're acting like it's not possible.
SPEAKER_01I know it's possible, but like we never put thought into it to actually making it happen.
SPEAKER_02So maybe maybe Well, we don't even have the photo shoot.
SPEAKER_01Like Well, that's the main reason.
SPEAKER_02Exactly.
SPEAKER_01I mean And we're finally doing a photo shoot next week.
SPEAKER_02We all know why that photo shoot took forever.
Photo Shoots And Body Confidence
SPEAKER_01Why?
SPEAKER_02Sam.
SPEAKER_01Come on, say let the people people are wondering why. Why did he become skinny Sam?
unknownHe was very insecure.
SPEAKER_01Whoa, not that. Actually, okay, wait, wait, wait.
SPEAKER_02Wait, no, we're not about to do this. Don't lie. Not insecure. What? What the fuck was it then? Wait, wait, no, no, no, no, no. We're not about to do this. Oh my god.
SPEAKER_01There's a lot of green going on your side today. I just realized a lot of green. I'm a nature girl. Yeah. Quick, like segue.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01No, no. Yeah, maybe a little bit insecurity. Yeah. There was definitely time. Like, what else? Because I know if we're gonna do a photo shoot, like, okay, that's gonna be for the next year. Like, wait, let me fucking lose weight and then we fucking do it. But now, Skin Sam is back. Gonna do outfits and shit, looking good, very happy.
SPEAKER_02I feel like it's very sad that you think photo shoots are like just for like a year. Like that's crazy.
SPEAKER_01No, well, fuck. We've been using this fucking intro for what?
SPEAKER_02I I've never really understood why people make such hypes about some of the smallest things in the world. Like it's like, you can do a photo shoot like three times a week if you want to.
SPEAKER_01I know, but I wasn't, I didn't lose the weight for the past three years.
SPEAKER_02And ladies and gentlemen, insecurities.
SPEAKER_01It's not insecurity.
SPEAKER_02That's exactly what it is.
SPEAKER_01Calling me mama. It's not insecurity.
SPEAKER_02Sam, what was it? What is it?
SPEAKER_01It's just I want it to be portrayed, not portrayed, I want it to be in a certain shape for the photo shoot. It's not insecurities. It's just I just want to look a certain way for the photo shoot. That's it. But a little bit of insecurity when I wear clothes. Because I used to be skinnier and then I gain weight, and then now I'm back to where I was six years, seven years ago. Anyway, saying like insecurities. Anyway. Curaceo season coming soon. Two cuisasu seasons, actually. Holland season. I really want to have to go to fucking Miami already. We need to go to we almost went.
unknownWe're gonna go.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, but we don't plan stuff early.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's true. Guys always fucking last minute. Yeah. Like literally, like we're supposed to be traveling in about in less than 10 days, and we don't even have flights booked yet.
SPEAKER_02So. There's no filter. We don't no, no, no, no, no. We have to change the shit. Okay. Okay, intros. Intros and we're gonna change the fucking schedules.
SPEAKER_01Alright. What are we changing first?
SPEAKER_02Okay, the thing that we are changing.
SPEAKER_01Fix your fucking foam cap thingy. Yeah, push it back. Here we go.
SPEAKER_02Securities.
SPEAKER_01Nothing security. No, I'm just like that. No, stupid. Fucking stupid.
SPEAKER_02Anyways, we don't have much time today, so we're not gonna go ham today, guys. A few things to talk about.
Kave K Recap And Guest Teasers
SPEAKER_02Okay, so first things first this weekend was Kave K.
unknownA really good one.
SPEAKER_01A freaking good one. I'm so happy I went.
SPEAKER_02Same.
SPEAKER_01So happy.
SPEAKER_02Same. Shout out to Kave K.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, 100%. Shout out to Jason. You guys need to bring more topics and speakers. Maybe great speakers, by the way. Which, by the way, we're gonna have those speakers on the show as well. It's already been arranged. Yeah. Um, but like the the topics were good. Yeah, and he's coming back.
SPEAKER_02Well, no, well, I mean Vince. Vincent.
SPEAKER_01He's also Oh, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Oh, and we've had Omar Steve.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, actually, yeah. So we had Miles. Miles. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Don't play.
SPEAKER_01So three, so three of the panelists was Vincent. Um, Vincent is the owner and founder of Centu, um, who's it's probably going to be, I think, next week's episode, if I'm not mistaken.
SPEAKER_02It's in the pipeline. Yeah. That's what's in the pipeline.
SPEAKER_01It's already been recorded. Then we had Omar Steve already. That's a while. That's back in my apartment.
unknownThat's a while ago.
SPEAKER_01That was like in the hood. Like fucking. That was like a small ass apartment. We had to walk through a bunch of fucking dogs to get there. Man, we were saying it was my neighbors. Um, that white, the white one is good. She was nice. Yeah, um, two of them died. Yeah. One got poisoned, one got run over by a truck.
SPEAKER_02Back there? There's what's that truck doing?
SPEAKER_01Not every single day is trucks going um to Floralina. Floralina? The the horse place. Hey, anyways, that is sometimes throws parties in there.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_01And there's a truck every fucking morning goes, or at least every two days, like the ones of Arikaka. And they they use it to like for fertilization, whatever. Anyways. So one of them hit the dog. Yeah. Paco, the nicest one. Yeah. So um Omar Steve was in was on the show a while ago. We should bring him back, have a conversation. Um the other panelist was, I think I forgot his name, Vito. The guy from Boncas. Yes. Fito, Fico, Fito. Yeah, that was him. We should also have him as well.
unknownGabi's dad.
SPEAKER_01Which Gabby?
unknownGabby comes back.
SPEAKER_01If I see a picture. Yeah, and okay. And then out of the two speakers other than that, we have had Miles already on the show once. And for our Curso season's coming up, we're gonna have him back, and we're gonna discuss the things he discussed on the conversation, which is I like it because it's it was an outside looking in, like throwing jabs, like guys. Great bus to this. You guys are kind of like fucking up in certain areas, and you guys like are you it's not the beautiful car?
SPEAKER_02And it's it was from the the perfect person, I felt like as well, because Miles is from ABC.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, he used to live here as well, yeah.
SPEAKER_02All of them, so he understands that a what I'm talking about is now bullshit. I think he had like top-notch experiences by being in certain positions in all of these areas in these places. So it's like what was his position?
SPEAKER_01He was CEO of uh Bonata, so Bonaire's um basically the Ata of Bonaire. He was a CEO of Chata, which is basically the Ahatta of Curosa, and now he's the CEO of C next. It's like an investment thing. I still don't understand fully what it is. I don't all the way get it, but it seems like okay, that's more business and like big like if you want to invest in Curso, like you gotta go through him in a way.
SPEAKER_02That's the first thing you gotta talk about.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so that's as much as I know about his current position.
SPEAKER_02Actually, we're about to fuck around and find out what this is.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, well, we're gonna go there. So well, you know what I mean. You know what I mean.
SPEAKER_02Okay, and the podcast with those.
SPEAKER_01And the next the other um speaker was Tony Van Veen. Tony Van Vein from the Ru Isamaruba lives in Philadelphia. Great speaker, great story. I like his story about how he how he innovated. Um, he started like I don't I don't know if he's started or he was part of a company that made CDs, vinyls, and cassette.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, he wanted to work in the music industries with his head and then we don't want to say too much of a story because we want to have him work so he can tell his own story.
SPEAKER_01Correct.
SPEAKER_02But all in all, it was a fucking good event. So he again, another person that is nothing just pick shit out of their ass, speaking facts, speaking from reality, speaking from knowledge. Yeah. And I love the sequence of him being first and then Miles.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and I like that Miles kind of contradicted a few things that he said. Oh, which is why I love when he said, like, I am gonna contradict Tony. I'm like, right, because he was sitting like right next to us.
SPEAKER_02Like, looked at him like he's just I was trying to just keep my head straight because the wife was next to me. Here's hair go you in front of me.
SPEAKER_01I'm like, this fucking guy. I wanted to see his reaction.
SPEAKER_02He was like, This no type of black altering. Not even to say like he goes a little bit to tell me that I live with another. He was like full blown, like oh shit. Like, what you don't say about Tony, you hear this shit.
SPEAKER_01Like he told you, Tony, what you gonna say? Actually, get up, go punch him. No, but but it was a good conversation, it was a good information.
What Authentic Aruba Marketing Needs
SPEAKER_01I like how Tony was mentioning, and I've and I've said this for so long. Um, of how people portray Aruba and how they use Tristrappi picture. The one person laying in the water, beautiful. I don't know if we can find that picture, but uh, if if we did, pop it here. Um just laying in the water looking up and then painting Aruba in a certain reality or a certain perspective. And then when you show up, it's like the fuck is this? Yeah, like it's like it's like going, it's like going to Le Wendy's and you see the beautiful picture, but then you get the burger, like, hey, it's not this is not the same picture. What happened?
SPEAKER_03I want that one picture.
SPEAKER_01So, like, and I've always said this like it's like we always portray or or we want to hire super professional uh film, whatever you want to call them, ad make. I don't know, me the body, but they want to paint like a real beautiful walking on the beach with your girl smiling, there's nobody behind you in reality, there's like 55 people behind you, and I'm like, that's I know you want to paint it that way, but that's not really the reality. It's not it. It's I'm I'm sorry. It's like Tristrapi. I'm sorry, it's no, I was like, I'm talking to the tourist, like I'm sorry. Like Tristrapi, you saw a picture of like five people. No, there's like 5,500 people sitting there, and it's it's it's a lot. We have we have to like realize that how we're painting Aruba in a way outside of this like super oasis. I mean, Aruba is beautiful, but the laid-back Aruba, it's it's not fully like that. It's like there's they want to paint all these super luxurious high-end restaurants, they probably pay to be in those ads, but there's way better places named Thank you Flip that like it sells better food than the high-rise pomacher. Which by the way, guys, go follow. Link in the description. But yeah, it's on it's looking for your next meal. Well, guess what? You should go follow No Filter Eats. It's a link in the description. It's basically me and Shark going all across Aruba trying different restaurants and different food trucks based on where you guys tell us to go. So if you love food and want to know where to go eat next, click the link in the description, follow it, and we'll see you there and enjoy the rest of the show.
SPEAKER_02Peace. Very unfortunate. It's really, really unfortunate. And like you said, like it's like it kind of sucks as a local seeing commercials promoting Aruba, and you're like, I don't recognize not one person on there. I didn't go to school with none of these people.
SPEAKER_01Well, the you know, you know what? I I think the reason why they use yeah, but I I want to highlight something. They they bring people to shoot these commercials, people from abroad, but they do hire a lot of people from Aruba to be in these commercials and to be part of the production team of commercial. That's free that's 100%. Some of the models in these commercials are also from Aruba. Um, maybe some of them aren't, but I guess what they want to try to picture is a balance of the Aruba people and also somebody that looks like a tourist. So somebody who's watching the commercial can relay, ooh, that looks like me. Or like, hey, that's an American. Correct. Pale white guy or blonde girl. Like those are the only people that we have coming to Aruba, right? No, there's more, but but that's why I said there's there's more different characters, but like they want to portray people that don't look like from here so they can attract people that aren't from here. Does that make sense?
SPEAKER_02That's what your brain tells you.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, absolutely. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Absolutely. I can jump on that down and you know.
SPEAKER_01So what what do you think then?
SPEAKER_02If I again I I legit said this. Even in the freaking episode where it never came out until we did it with Mario. I even said it in there. Yeah. It's like even forget the people even.
SPEAKER_01Can't believe I never posted it in.
SPEAKER_02If you just look at like what gets promoted for Aruba, it's like where's that? I don't know this place. Or I've never been there. Like iconic places of Aruba is what we should see, is what we don't get to see.
SPEAKER_01Like what? What should be what should be in a in a Aruba video?
SPEAKER_02Everything that you once you step out of the airport and you go driving to where you're you're you're going to, you see none of these things. You don't see like the WAF where you're at at uh Royal Plaza, across from Royal Plaza. You don't see none of that. It's part of what exactly what you see. I'm like, You can't miss it.
SPEAKER_01It is part of a make sure they include the traffic too in the in these commercials.
SPEAKER_02That is Aruba, that is Aruba, people crossing and all this. Like that to me is you representing my island, showing my island for what it is.
SPEAKER_01And what what what are they portraying? So that you're saying here's where they're swimming.
SPEAKER_02We see empty beaches, Sam. That's what we see. We see empty beaches, we see close-up shots, close-up shots of water ripples.
SPEAKER_00We see up a kind of a river commercial.
SPEAKER_02No, no, no, no, have fun, be my guest. Cause God strike me if I'm lying.
SPEAKER_00No, I'm not saying you're lying.
SPEAKER_02I know you're not saying I'm lying. God strike me if I'm lying. So yeah, echo.
SPEAKER_00No. Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_01Oh, this is the one my people came. Oh, this is this is the one Mario was talking about.
SPEAKER_00Oh fuck me. To white sand and healing. Right.
SPEAKER_01Okay, the tree.
SPEAKER_00A place to be cherished. Protected.
SPEAKER_01Anyways. When was this released? A year ago. Oh, four million views. Well, what okay, what should an Aruba commercial look like?
SPEAKER_02Fucking Aruba!
SPEAKER_01Well, tell me. I don't have to say that. You're yelling Aruba, but tell me exactly like tell me.
SPEAKER_02I just told you everything that represents Aruba, everything that you can actually see Aruba.
SPEAKER_01Okay, I I I agree, but I don't fully agree also because Aruba means different for every single person. You say everything represents Aruba, maybe I would have to see it.
SPEAKER_02You don't I I don't want to see it right now, but because no, just based off of what you already saw. Does this look like a generic commercial from anywhere around the world?
SPEAKER_01No. This look like I just saw that like one of those, like they have this shot in there, like a beautiful, like old school house.
SPEAKER_02So that could not that not that not be Kirasa?
SPEAKER_01True, but I but it's generic.
SPEAKER_02That's what I mean. It is generic. Nothing that you what what represents or what is one thing that Aruba has that no other place has? Those are the things that you should do.
SPEAKER_01I'm asking you, what what are they?
SPEAKER_02Fuck you, look around, Sam.
SPEAKER_01Like beaches, everybody has beaches, food, everybody has food. I'm I'm I'm asking a genuine question.
SPEAKER_02No, and I'm being deadass right about now.
SPEAKER_01We we got we got the red anchor, nobody has that. I don't think so.
SPEAKER_02Like there are so many things, and I feel like right about now it's not coming to mind. Yeah, but you are being top-notch people. Uh, there's a whole team dedicated to think about this. Why do I have to think about it for everybody? There's a whole team dedicated to think about how does our commercial not look generic. Miles even said it during his speech.
SPEAKER_01He was like, I don't think nobody has this shot.
SPEAKER_02Stand uniquely on everything that is unique to you.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02That is your that is your your your the one thing that you have to stand out. Is everything that you have unique? Why would you make a commercial that looks like any other every other place? Shots that look like every other place. Somewhere, somebody's gonna have to force before they can see like okay, it's a rubah.
SPEAKER_01I can I I can understand a little bit now what you just said at the end there about at some point someone's gonna realize, oh, this is Aruba. Like it's not showing like I have to get sold. You don't have a like this this gives me like Amazon River vibes, you know?
SPEAKER_02Where in a room is this?
SPEAKER_01I don't even know. Exactly my it looks like manganto. And I only know this because I saw Shekinah posted a video with her and Ian going like together, like and it looks like this looks like the the piece of water area. I've I've never been here before. But could this be easily the US? Iraq formation, Caribbean, like this looks like a local store. I mean, obviously, we have the fucking tree. I understand what you mean. Like it should be showing things like where you when you where you instantly realize, oh shit, that's Aruba.
SPEAKER_02And you you work in content creation. This is legit y'all's job.
SPEAKER_01This is not my job.
SPEAKER_02But how many seconds do you have to catch somebody?
SPEAKER_01Three seconds before.
SPEAKER_02So it's three, four seconds. You are not telling me that this is Aruba. No, that is what I mean. It is too generic.
SPEAKER_01Well, it I I guess it won't, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Nah, it is what it is.
SPEAKER_01I I I think it's like I think it's what's what's it? Girl's name? Rosibel Rosbel, the the the poet lady. I always forget. Oh she's the one speaking. Yeah, her. And I know she's speaking, but maybe if if we heard it and then yeah, I understand. I kind of now understand your point of like within the first like minute, you should be. I'm like, I'm still like, is this where is this? I'm not sure which island.
SPEAKER_02Beautiful shots. I'm not taking away from the video. It's a beautiful fucking video. Yeah. But but everything is crisp.
SPEAKER_01But the the title tells you it's Aruba. When you when you love a ruba, Ruba loves you back. It says Aruba here. So I I I see both sides. At least I think one thing back there. I was saying earlier, like, yeah, all their expansive restaurants and shit. Here I see Carnival, I see Aricoc, I see people just like chilling by the beach. I see the ROM shop. I see families. I see the old style house back in the day. I see what's Cedar Colorado. So so I take back what I just said earlier about like super fine dinings and stuff because I know they've made that kind of commercial in the past. Um I think it's a beautiful kind of stuff video, but a nice storytelling. Yeah, but I and it's like it's a beautiful storytelling video, but at the same time as what you said, like it's hard.
unknownIs it?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, a little bit because because what are the what are the shots like? Oh, we got caves, yeah. So does everybody else. We have a national party, so does everybody else. Oh, we got you got nice beaches, so does everybody, a lot of people. So like it's it's it's hard.
SPEAKER_02Nobody's saying not to promote them. No, I know promote them authentically to what they are. Show me the people in the background.
SPEAKER_01Oh, so that's what you're okay.
SPEAKER_02Be completely authentic with what you are doing. That is my thing. It's just be fucking authentic, be real, give people an expectation, and not that they're gonna give them a one split second for them to talk shit about Aruba by saying, that's a fucking lie. You know, Americans. That's a fucking lie. I've been to Aruba and the beaches don't look like that. They're so messy. There's a lot of people crowded.
SPEAKER_01I I I understand.
SPEAKER_02Why are you giving me why are you setting us up to get bashed?
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Or in the rains. I thought Aruba was raw all year round. Like, bitch, like it was not all the time.
SPEAKER_02Oh, and these are the stories I think Aruba should promote. You and if and I'm gonna I'm gonna look it up for next week's episode. No, look, look at different different islands and how they promote them. And you're gonna see.
SPEAKER_01Give me an island.
SPEAKER_02I can't, I don't that's why I say I gotta go do my own thing. I'm gonna look for them and I'm gonna show it to you. But you're gonna see a difference. Anyway, this is not why we were here for this conversation.
SPEAKER_01No, I don't know. This is a huge segue. Sorry, sorry, sorry.
Big Topics Ahead From Kave K
SPEAKER_01Anyway, so yeah, we're gonna bring Miles and and Tony, and we're gonna talk about like, you know, Aruba, we're gonna talk about people's favorite topic right now, masterism. Um, I like that in the in at Kavika they brought speakers and they brought up problems that we all know of. And there are people in the room that are like, hey, y'all are decision making. Y'all, is this this is what it's supposed to be that Ruman? Like, y'all hear it? We've been telling you, we've been telling you. So let them tell you now. So, anyways, great event, Kaveka. I really hope you do it again. If you do do it again, invite us.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, 10 out of 10. This was a super, super, super great one. Conversations were immaculate. Um, I can't wait for the next one. I've been to the mix one of the mixers before last year. It was so good. So they have like these Kaveika mixers, they invite like small like people that have like businesses, and then they just like you know, Mango, Mingle Mango.
SPEAKER_01Ah, okay. Nice legmas.
SPEAKER_02Um even the young guy that they had to do the poem um from Parametugu Benil, John Phillip, or what's his name?
SPEAKER_00I forgot already.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, but he was also really good. Yeah. A guy did a drawing, and then you had to also um super great event.
unknownYeah.
UTV Episode Follow-Up And Correction
SPEAKER_01Oh. This whole clarify one thing. Last week's episode with Jimmy and guys, great episode. If you haven't seen it, um was talking about bash to the UTVs ng. Everybody wants to hate on them, everybody wants to talk about shit about them. And we brought a lot of people on the show that spoke very loudly against them. And multiple times a PD nung, hey, somebody from the community, come in, like, come defend your side of the story. Right? Nobody wants to do it. So somebody actually stepped up, Jimmy Douglas. He's like, yo. Yeah, it's supposed to be like hey, do you do one hour podcast, Jega? Almost two hours. Funny receipts. It was it was it was a it was a I told Charlie, like, hey, boss, the KDB even told him on the show, like, I was I don't know what to expect. I don't know who this guy is, I didn't even know what he looks like. So I mean, despair at the homo zone, eight in the rubber. I mean, ended up being a great pod. We hear their style, his side of story. He even admits himself, yes, there is like a bit of a problem. Actually, no, there is a big fucking problem. There's like illegal UTVs operating in Aruba. Meanwhile, him and other people who are actually doing it right are the ones getting fucked because and these people are getting away with whatever they want to get away with. And he brought he mentioned most problems, even brought solutions as well. So go watch the episode. Um, it's the one last week, Thursday. Um, but he he did mention one thing I do want to clarify. Um, shout out to Atta. Atta saw the episode, and they wanted us to correct something. So I'm gonna just like read over here like a little bit. So on the last episode with Jimmy Douglas, there was a part where Atta was mentioned regarding the recognition that was given to a certain local because Jimmy brought Riste of pictures. Um, so they wanted to clarify um for the episode that they reached out to us and gave us a little bit more context about the recognition that was actually about of what was the the recognition about. So the recognition was part of Atta's nominal, which is cool. I didn't know about this, which is part of um nominate your local vacation hero campaign in 2025. This was last year. Did you ever heard about this? Oh, you heard about it? Yeah. Oh. So this campaign is not specifically about UTVs or um tourism operations, it's about visit visitors nominating locals who made their vacation experience in Aruba more meaningful and personal. So I'll explain that these individuals were recognized because visitors repeatedly nominated them as their local vacation heroes. These nominations were based on personal stories from visitors about how these locals positively impacted their trip and their family. So, to be fair, the intention behind the campaign was to celebrate authentic human connections between locals and the visitor, not necessarily to make a statement about whether a business is operating legally or illegally. So Ata also shared with us, and I quote, our intention with this campaign is to celebrate this authentic human connection that enhance the visitor experience and reflect the true spirit of Aruba. They also provided um some campaign videos, which by the way, there's a link in the description of their in their YouTube, and there you'll see people actually talking about hey, shout out to XYZ, you know. That will give you a clearer picture of the initiative and the type of stories that you know of people being recognized. So that award that Jamie brought up, it had nothing to do with that, nothing about UTVs, nothing about our business. They were just awarding specific people for their job. Nominated from nominated by tourists. They're like, yo, Shark gave me excellent fucking service, he took care of me. Something happened and he went out of his way to get me XYZ. And that's why they were awarded. So Atha really wanted to clarify um on that topic.
SPEAKER_02Okay, thank you, Atta. So now we know that.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Jimmy, uh, get your fucking facts right for next time.
SPEAKER_01Making us look bad. I'm kidding. No. No, you never get.
SPEAKER_02So yeah, okay.
SPEAKER_01That's it.
unknownThat's it.
SPEAKER_01Wait, is this the end of the episode?
SPEAKER_02No, that's the end of that.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah, that's it. I just want to. No, I just want I just wanted to clarify that.

SPEAKER_01about?
SPEAKER_02Um, what else we had on the skillet?
SPEAKER_01Um this hot looking skillet today. Sssao. No. I made a dope egg this morning, which is crazy. I mean, it's very off topic. I mean, I I yeah, I made like like like three eggs and I don't know. Came out- I I had to make a video. Like, throw it. Look how great this like omelet looks.
SPEAKER_02What type of- Oh, you made omelet.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Okay. But I was like, it was like perfect. Shark, it's it's so it's so done. I just threw butter on the fucking pan and three eggs. Instead of like, you know, making it like mixing up, I just let the three eggs cook and it became like one whole egg.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_01And threw some cheese and it flipped. I don't know. It just came like so like crusty. The cheese, ah, it was fucking good. I threw on the hot sauces that we have.
unknownWhich one?
SPEAKER_01Um, the tropical one.
unknownTropical trend.

SPEAKER_02That's why we didn't go to Sause.
SPEAKER_01Don't say that.
SPEAKER_02That was the day.

SPEAKER_01But we had to go, we had to go to the bar. We promised Sandar, and Sandar also like pretty much sponsored the fucking show. Um, no, we it's guys, if you're ever in Bonaire, go to Sause. We haven't gone. Yeah. But I can just tell you, I just looked at it. I look at like the pictures and the how people and the island themselves talk about that place. And we booked up a banda walking. SPEAKER_01So yeah, let us let us know where should we go eat. We want to we need to know activities, all that good shit. Um, I think that's it. I got nothing else on my on my roster. Is there anything I'm missing?
unknownI don't think so.
