Meet Queen and Heat Podcast Hosts
Speaker 1It's time for the main event . It's the Sparring Podcast .
Speaker 2Oh , it's a knockout . Yo welcome to the Sparring Boxing Podcast . William Puma , back we did a two-a-day today and we are with two famous individuals , more famous in Brooklyn Queen and Heat , better podcasters than us , and they just begun . What is going on ?
Speaker 1We've already just begun .
Speaker 2If you guys don't know , these are world champions , because you're never not a champion once you receive that and in the podcast game they are on their way .
Speaker 3To be world champions . They on their way to be world champions .
Speaker 2To that too , Take it over champions extremely outspoken , funny , no holes barred . Uh , whatever goes goes . But before we even start and get into it , I have to ask you heather , is the bathroom thing like ? Is that real ?
Speaker 1my nervous system is very dysregulated right now . What can I say ? And I smoke a lot of weed . I'm no doctor , listen , let me tell you something , let's put it out there my asshole stops when I go to work . It's not happening all fucking day , it's just in the morning you don't want an accident in the ring I don't need it , not even a thought . It shuts off with the Wi-Fi .
Speaker 2So , if you couldn't tell , they're very outspoken , both of them , one maybe more than the other their show is great .
Speaker 4Thank you for noticing .
Speaker 1Which one .
Speaker 4Which one ? What the ?
Speaker 2hell , their show is great . It's called queen and heat podcast , correct ? Yeah and um it's it's boxing related , but clearly they go off off the rails , kind of like our show . That's kind of why I reached out to you guys , because I was like damn , these personalities are it's like the female version of me and this guy over here , but um , nobody wants to hear about my bathroom experiences , so I barely want to hear her .
Speaker 4I'm like what are you talking about ? That sounds unreal .
Speaker 2Not only are they funny great boxers . Now you guys are . Are you guys trainers over there at Gleason ? Yeah , so , like head trainers . How does that work ?
Speaker 1We're the two female head trainers at Gleason .
Speaker 3Okay , wow , and you guys Congratulations on that too .
Speaker 1You guys train pros or is it just ? No , it's , everybody Pros amateurs , people who just want to have fun .
Speaker 3Kids , old people , Gleason's I hate the columns in there that should get on my nerves . What ? Columns , you mean how the gym is built Like during the fights
Female Head Trainers at Gleason's Gym
Speaker 3.
Speaker 1Oh because , you can't see around the columns . Yeah , It'd be like three .
Speaker 4Bring your ass on time and you won't have to be behind the columns , Blame the architecture .
Speaker 2What's the amateur scene looking like for the women ? Is it thriving right now ?
Speaker 4No , To be honest , usually Gleason Gym have a lot of females and a lot of women fighting and stuff like that , but I would say maybe in the past two to three years there have not been . The female circle is not cooperative . It's not like when we were coming up .
Speaker 2That's crazy to hear to me , because I wanted to ask you guys too , with the way women's boxing is right now and how it's really honestly correct me if I'm wrong it's the best it's ever been . Publicity wise , correct like is you would think more would it would be more attractive to to young female boxers yeah , um , I'm not saying that that's not the case .
Speaker 4I'm just saying that where we are in , good , we had a great team of boys .
Speaker 1Yeah , yeah I had a great team of boys .
Speaker 2Yeah , yeah , I know .
Speaker 1We had a great team of boys and it turns out Left .
Speaker 2Hook is in there , yeah , left hook , yeah , left .
Speaker 3hook's there , yeah , left hook's there , that's my guy . I like that guy man .
Speaker 1You know the brothers that we said yes , yeah , yeah , yeah , I know what you're talking about .
Speaker 3And Rocky be in there with them .
Speaker 4Um , oh no , rocky's not from this side over here .
Speaker 3Okay , okay , yeah , you know I'm talking about though right , yeah , I know who you're talking about they went blank , like huh yeah she's like yeah , rocky was a great movie .
Speaker 2I'm out of here training she'd be on instagram too .
Speaker 3I'll be seeing her left hook a bunch of them .
Speaker 2But speaking on that and the women's boxing now thriving , you guys on the come up as , or you girls , I should say I'm sorry . I'm sorry , heather . I see you staring at me , like give me a stank eye through the glasses . You girls on the come up , is there any envy ? Not envy I don't want to say jealousy , but like I do wish you guys were fighting in this era like is there any like ?
Speaker 4I mean , on my part I'm happy , I'm happy for
State of Women's Boxing Today
Speaker 4where women boxing is today . I mean , obviously I'll , I'll be lying if I'll be like , oh damn , I wish like this how it was around my era time . But i'm'm not built for jealousy and for bitterness and all that other stuff .
Speaker 4It is what it is . It's what we were having . It happened how it happened . But just to see , when I came into this game , how it was and where it is now , how can I not be proud ? How can I not root for the girls ? How can I not support the girls ? That would not make no sense . My time was my time , so I'm not , I don't , I don't feel no way , I'm I'm really excited , to be honest .
Speaker 2I'm really , really excited and like I didn't mean that in like a like a bad way , I just meant like part of you , I know . I'm just saying what's the hardest part of transitioning from being fighters , though , into trainers for both of you , was it difficult ? Was it a difficult transition ?
Speaker 1For me it is because I'm not allowed to fight , no more . So it's not like I gave it up because I wanted to . I ended up because I had to and now I'm not not .
Speaker 2I'm not a fight anymore because I I'm not allowed okay , and so and that's because of your , your eyes and everything that went on , medically correct , yeah , and that's also why you didn't jump in when that girl was getting , when that that uh girl was getting jumped goddamn right that's how I throw that in there at some point . That that's what I mean , though , like you , you too so . So I'm a little all over the place right now , because I'm a little starstruck , sorry , as monica knows , I get , I get very , uh , weird .
Speaker 2I guess , but , um , you're cool . Uh is is like when , I guess , with that transition , though , from from being a fighter to a trainer , when , when you're telling a fighter to do something right especially like the young kids and they're just not doing it , part of you has to just be like I want to jump in there and do it for you , like , like what the fuck is going on , yeah , but .
Speaker 4I always feel that way , even when I was fighting . If I had , you know , if I , if somebody , my teammate or somebody I know that's fighting , you know , just because you still have like all that in you , you just feel like , oh , I just want to be in there Cause you know , you're anxious , your anxiety . Sometimes for me , like when I'm going into the ring , I'm never , although I have my nerves like regular nerves , but I'm never as nervous as I am for , like heather , or melissa , and I'll tell you somebody else .
Speaker 1So it's just , yeah , like so , when we disappointed them or let them down , it was like .
Dating Challenges for Successful Athletes
Speaker 1It was like they were in there , not us .
Speaker 3What was the pregame for y'all Before the fight ? What got you in that mood to fight ?
Speaker 2I think , they're always in the mood .
Speaker 4I'm just like the contract .
Speaker 3The contract , the money , what did y'all ?
Speaker 4listen to .
Speaker 1What was the locker room like ?
Speaker 3What did y'all listen to ? What was the locker room like , like , was there music , anything ?
Speaker 4I'm not specific like that For me , like once , I just have the people that I trust or the people that I'm going to war with , like in my corner . Everybody's just vibing Like a lot of times , my family and stuff like that , my cousins and all that will come to my fight , so they will come in the back there , they'll be back there , and we're all just sitting down chilling , making jokes , you know , trying to make the day as regular as possible .
Speaker 2Okay , like relaxing , you got to stay relaxed .
Speaker 4Yeah , yeah , yeah , for sure , For sure .
Speaker 2While while , like I don't know how to word this , but like coming up as woman in boxing right a male dominated sport as we know right and we come up in gyms and stuff , there's got to be a lot of like creeps there , right a lot of creeps , practically 98% like that is more than a lot , it's like creepville but we have the two most protected women in Brooklyn , New York , our older brothers Don Kat Martine .
Speaker 1Ain't no creep coming in here it's gotta be hard .
Speaker 2I'm just saying I know girls in male dominated professions constantly getting hit on , constantly getting always getting asked out for dinner or whatever , does it get annoying .
Speaker 1No , because they don't ask you out . They just want to come over , ask me out for dinner . I'll go ask you out for dinner . Take me out first Take me out .
Speaker 3Am I lying ?
Speaker 1These motherfuckers at the gym . They don't take you out to dinner . No , that's not how they approach us they got no game .
Speaker 2man . What the hell's going on over there ?
Speaker 3I mean , if they see that y'all can punch them in the face .
Speaker 1It's a Brooklyn , New York thing . They get to the point .
Speaker 3Yo , it's crazy .
Speaker 1I'm looking , I'm like y'all literally a day apart in january , that's a day in the year .
Speaker 2That's crazy , that's like it was meant . That is crazy . Meant to be you too , but again going off like your podcast and stuff like that's where you really get to know you guys , and I think what boxing's missing right is is outspoken individuals like yourselves , all from all the pros Cause with like cancel culture and stuff , everyone's afraid to talk . And I'm not saying you got to like don't ever disrespect a certain group of people or whatever , but you guys are just open right off the right off the rip , Like the first podcast episode . I'm like what the heck is going on . You guys need like a reality show Like it's just a game of life .
Speaker 4Did you enjoy it ? I'm so happy that you enjoyed it . No , no , no .
Speaker 2The sky is the limit . Do you find it hard , though ? Is there difficulties with podcasting ? Because I know I'm like I have so many issues and we're on like episode 80 . I'm still like we have no producer or nothing . This is actually my basement .
Speaker 4I think we're kind of like the opposite . I mean , it was just a blessing that you know I happened , especially in boxing . You have so many people and there's somebody that does everything you can find a lawyer you can find an editor , you can find an actor , actress you can find a gymnast , you can find everything in . You can find an actor , actress , you can find a gymnast , you can find everything in the gym . And we just have the blessing of first of all . I've always had this idea , from a while ago .
Speaker 2I remember , when I met you , you told me that yeah , oh , I want to start a podcast .
Speaker 4Yeah , exactly , and even before that . So she was the first person that I wanted to do it with and she was acting like she was too good for me podcasting .
Speaker 1Wait , wait , wait .
Speaker 4I had to drag her by her damn Barbie feet to do this shit .
Speaker 1Barbie feet . Wow .
Speaker 4She got the good Barbie feet . You know when that instep is instepping . Okay , that instepping no-transcript .
Speaker 3No bunion , no bunion I don't know anymore .
Speaker 2I'm a little older now , but back in the day , you know .
Speaker 4Oh , that's what they said .
Speaker 2Elaborate on that . Why'd you have to try it , Heather ? What's going on ? You don't seem shy at all .
Speaker 4He does be acting funny style sometimes . But with that being said , coming along actually the beginning of this year she came to me . She was like I have this vision . I'm like what are you talking about ? Like are you okay ? Because you know my sister not well . So I was like what are you talking about ? You know she's just like no , I have this vision . I had a vision . I was like your pretty face on the camera . I was like I'm like , so you know I said that .
Speaker 4And then she kept on saying it . So then now I'm seeing that she okay , maybe she really want to do this , and so somebody that I work with , which is now our producer , was just like , hey , if you guys want to do it , like I'll help you , and it was like that's probably all we really needed . All we needed for somebody to say , yes , I will help you , and it's like that's probably all we really needed . All we needed for somebody to say , yes , I will help you . And we just took it off from there and you know , the individual have all the things that you give you think about the camera , the this , the light , because that's what they do right . And so audio , yeah , and we do it right in heather's office in the gym .
Speaker 2I know , I noticed that too . That's cool , though , because you hear the sounds of the gym behind you . Yeah , the setup's awesome , everything is like going great as yeah , and we still we're still weak , we're still trying to create .
Speaker 4You know we we're trying to . You know , make make sure we have an ambiance and the you know how , the visuals and all the other stuff . You know , it's very weird that you have something in the middle while things are going on at the gym as he knows , like when we started , my ambiance is good .
Speaker 2Like I said , this is my basement .
Speaker 3But that's not his dream .
Speaker 2Yeah , I got big dreams with this stupid little podcast . But the trial and error I don't have a producer .
Speaker 1Big dreams start with not calling them stupid .
Speaker 3Oh , I'll keep on telling them that .
Speaker 2Yeah , but I'm doing it .
Speaker 1Yeah , but it doesn't matter if you speak bad about it . Thank you , you're welcome . That's what I tell all my clients today we're only going to talk nice to ourselves .
Speaker 2I love how I'm starstruck and I'm getting coached . This is amazing that'll be $75 .
Speaker 1I didn't ask for feet pics .
Speaker 2I didn't ask for feet pics . I didn't ask for feet pics .
Speaker 1Those are more than 75 , baby .
Speaker 2Nah , but for real , like the hardest part of like podcasting for us , like we can get on , I can get on a mic , I can yap all day . I could talk all day about whatever Was like the producing part . Like oh , you need clips , you need this . I went through like eight cameras . I'm like what the hell is going on ?
Speaker 4yeah , but definitely , definitely , that has to be the hardest part and also , I mean , as I said , blessing that you know this individual is really taking a time out and doing this thing and helping us . You know , have a vision and all that other stuff . So , um , we're just blessed to be honest and , and you know , having fun . You guys are just like you guys just hoping that you know this , something comes out of this .
Speaker 3Yeah , it's crazy , y'all get fans Like y'all already have fans .
Speaker 2Yeah , like you're already established , like we don't have .
Speaker 3we getting fans out of nowhere , we just regular people .
Speaker 2Like know who's listening ? We are fans ourselves . That's always we fans ourselves . So we went to the . That's the start . We went to the ring three card right at um , what was it ? The tennis court in queens , the uh uh chakor's fight and stuff . And like I'm on the beer line . I drink probably more than I should , but I'm on the beer line or whatever . And like yo , this jacked dude comes up to me and like puts his hand on my shoulder . He's like yo , puma . I'm like oh fuck , I'm about to get knocked out . Here we go . I turn around , I'm like what's up , man ? And he's like your show is great , man . I listen and I'm like what the fuck ? I'm not , I'm not famous . So I'm like what the hell ? It's like I'll buy you a drink . What the fuck is going on ?
Speaker 4but that's but , that's to let you know but that's to let you know that you just never know . You
Life After Boxing as Trainers
Speaker 4know , like , what you think and probably what's actually happening is probably two different things .
Speaker 2Yeah . And another like funny , creep back to the creep talk . But so Amanda Serrano , right , like I messaged her or whatever . Like somehow she answered , I don't know why , but I was like , oh , come on my show . You know she's very busy now . But I was like , oh , come on my show , or whatever . Blah , blah , blah . And she's like , oh , yeah , I come back from Puerto Rico . Blah , blah , blah . And she's like , yeah , I'll come in studio . I like that better . And I'm like I'm not going to invite Amanda Serrano into my basement , it's not going to happen . And I kind of felt the same way with a podcast .
Speaker 4Having good instincts .
Speaker 2Hey , Heather , I heard you had nice feet . You want to come in my basement ?
Speaker 1It's a Venmo baby . You know the way to my home . This is crazy , I'm still starstruck .
Speaker 2This is actually a dream for me . I'm like my first boxing crush was Heather . Now I am going to get creepy . No , I'm just kidding .
Speaker 3He literally just said that too , I'm like .
Speaker 2I didn't know that . You're way nicer than me . To Michaela Meyer too , she's very mean to me Really . No , she wasn't mean , I think Michaela and I tell every girl we interview this I think Michaela thinks I am creepy because every time I see her , I'm like at a fight and I'm drunk .
Speaker 4I'm like , oh , michaela , what's up ?
Speaker 3oh my god , I forget , like I'm a grown man , so well then , you can't blame her . No , no , that's what I'm , that's what he's , very passionate is it ?
Speaker 2is it ? Is it hard , like like in in the boxing game itself ? Right , you two are both single , so I don't know why . Because you guys have great personalities , you're both single .
Speaker 3Because we have high standards . Oh , well , that's .
Speaker 2I mean , that's regular , yeah , but but I'm curious like is dating as a pro athlete Like we don't know ? Obviously we're not pro athletes , we're dad bods , so dad bods .
Speaker 4So dating , dating as a pro athlete is is that hard , is it like ? Is it is it hard to find ? Like true , like dating as a woman is hard , period . Yeah , it doesn't matter . It's like I said a very successful woman .
Speaker 1I have a friend who's um , who's famous line is when I meet a guy , I tell him I work at cvs , because the minute he hears pro athlete , famous hairstylist , fucking actress , all of a sudden his dick goes like this oh Jesus , what is it going to be ? It's more a sense of when you're such a successful woman . Right , me and Veronica are both beautiful women . We are successful , we have a lot to show for our lives and we have a lot of male friendship .
Speaker 3Yeah .
Speaker 1But you really need to be solid , standing with a secure man who's ? Also established and easy to come by .
Speaker 2And I understand that , my wife she works in like a male dominated profession , and even me sometimes I'm like what are you freaking guys texting , you Like ?
Speaker 4the hell yeah , what do you ?
Speaker 2want to do . She's actually nypd and that's the first time that's the first time on air . I said that , don't judge me , but it is true . It's like you got to take a step back and like I'm like they're just co-workers friends . She's male dominated . I always like wonder . And there's like a . I'm like there's just coworkers friends . She's male dominated . I always like wonder . And there's like a rule in like the police world you never date a cop or whatever . So it's like yeah , I'm like .
Speaker 1I've heard that you meet a cop at a bar . He's married .
Speaker 3We're done , we have .
Speaker 2I'm going to get . I'm going to get real personal . I'm going to get real personal real quick and gonna get , I'm gonna get real personal , I'm gonna get real personal real quick and and then I'm gonna keep it moving . But so when I first met my wife , right , I I thought she was a stripper . It was like it was mom mom's night out , so she was done up very , very well and you know , every everything was shown . It was a great night and I thought I thought she was like a dancer of some sort and nothing wrong with that or whatever .
Speaker 2Going forward like three weeks into our relationship , she's like sending me selfies , like in uniform or not , before we dated . I'm sorry , and I'm like what the hell ? I'm like , look at this , look at this chick . Like what the hell is she doing ? And then I'm like yo , that's like a real good halloween costume , like what is going on over here now ? Uh , I've been married like two years . We're , we've been together like seven or eight years . I wish she was a stripper . Man , I would . I would be so stress-free because , like you know , they're just doing a job , like you know what I mean .
Speaker 2Oh , my goodness , that's funny yeah , but no , that's a true story . But . But I imagine like especially like like now , life after boxing , like you guys going on dates , what's going on with that ? I want to know , I want to . I know you talk about on your show what's ?
Speaker 1going on with that ? I want to know I know you talk about it on your show I don't kiss and tell we do behind closed doors , I mean .
Speaker 2I'm not saying who .
Speaker 1I made it very clear the other day . I got this little belly and I'm still banging hotties . No , you have no belly , you have skin . No , tell the truth . She knows it's hidden in the shorts right now . It's hanging out and I don't care . Ask Veronica what I have for lunch Pizza .
Speaker 2That's good , you got it .
Speaker 1I'm still begging the hotties . This one don't kiss and tell at fucking four . I have to jump on top of her , rip her mouth open and beg her for information . Oh boy , oh boy .
Speaker 4Why you got to come for me like that .
Speaker 3You sound like Tracee Ella Wurls . I'm still begging the hotties .
Speaker 1Because I gossip , I give information , give and receive , and I'll talk to her and she'll go , oh my god , and then say nothing .
Speaker 2So for the listeners that are listening on their podcast , they go into a little more detail . There's a lot of . I think you said something about someone getting peed on or something , Heather .
Speaker 1Wait what I did not say peed on . You said spit on . Oh , my bad , my bad , who are you ? I did not say , he said spit on my bed who's going to Dubai ? You piss on me . It's going to be the last thing you do on Sunday night you got stung by a jellyfish , that's it , but again , you basically alluded to it .
Speaker 2It is hard dating or finding love . Are you guys looking for love ? I just want to know . I don't want you to tell me who . I'm not asking for deets , no children , no , nothing , nothing . Heather , you have kids or no ?
Speaker 1I have a 21-year year old daughter who's beautiful and happy and smart oh , that's awesome in college that's paid for and a boyfriend who's taking her traveling around the world oh , she's living life damn she is living her best yeah
Speaker 2congratulations .
Speaker 3That's when she got a crypto boss , she's beautiful .
Speaker 2That's probably more of an accomplishment Than your boxing stuff .
Speaker 4Heather worked very hard For her baby to be where she's at . I know you gotta give yourself A little dust off . So what's your ?
Speaker 3daughter , think about you as a fighter .
Speaker 1She don't give a fuck . She's not a little girl . She never was impressed . She'd be like Mom . Why is the Wall Street Journal at our house ? Danny , please , just go on Fox News , Please .
Speaker 2That's funny . A friend of ours Punch one of our other co-hosts . He says shout out , coach Jimmy Wagner .
Speaker 1Oh , I remember Jimmy . Jimmy was out . I remember Dunkin' Donuts at Jimmy's . What the hell ? I have a brain injury , but I remember having Dunkin' Donuts at Jimmy's gym .
Speaker 2Okay , all right , that's cool .
Speaker 1Who's ? That's cool . Okay , from the gym so .
Speaker 2So , speaking on on your brain injury , one of your great accomplishments is what you do for for outside of boxing and and you're very outspoken on it and that these fighters do deserve benefits . And one thing I learned with this podcast as we mingle with fighters , more and more , I'm like , oh man , like this , this cte stuff and brain injuries is it's real like we as fans ? You just see them on tv , we see you guys on tv and you're like our superheroes , but we don't realize . No , you're actually getting punched in the face like your . Your brain is actually rattling . And the more and more fighters I meet at events and stuff as we slowly grow like very slowly , fuck nice .
Speaker 2I know , sorry Yo , this guy bro , he always do that , I keep on telling him that I have high expectations , but anyway , I'm like , wow , it's a real thing . Like me and my wife . We went to a fight recently , inida , and we spoke to some people and we walked away and she was like , oh my goodness , like is that guy all right , is that girl all right ? And I'm like no , like yeah , they're fine , but this is boxing like this is this is what they got to deal with . And again , I just want to applaud you for that , because you have been heather very outspoken in in that regard .
Speaker 2And it doesn't . It doesn't resonate like when you're on tv . As fans , we just think you're normal getting in a fight . Like you don't see that side of it , and especially like the non-boxing media and stuff , it's way worse than football , like like the nfl and cte is always always on the air , but you don't hear anything about combat fighters , so it's it's crazy to see so . So props to you for that , props to you for your child . Um , you guys are great , man , I , I like this is like like I . We started off the show with like a bang and like uh , talking about poops , but you guys are great . What going forward now , though ? What ? What are your guys goals in , like your , your career as trainers now outside of the fighter and boxing . And Ronika , I want to hear you , because Heather keeps butting it . No , I'm just kidding , you're not butting it . I want to hear what you got to say , ronika .
Speaker 4No , just to keep building . I know people are like , oh , why don't you work with professionals , like working directly with them in the corners and stuff like that , and I mean it's cool , like I don't , I don't mind , and if that opportunity comes up , of course I will take it , but I enjoy . You know training people , teaching people boxing , and you know just being there to help them mentally . So it was just really . You know getting more clients that are in the same wavelength and just you know , keep pushing .
Speaker 2Okay , so are you guys , are you going to stay in in Brooklyn and and at Gleason's , or do you have aspirations to do your own thing at some point ? Nothing against them , obviously I'm not . I'm not trying to paint that , that narrative , but is there ?
Speaker 4any like you're saying , um , that is , that is something that I wouldn't mind doing , um , and if I was supposed to have my own gym , I would definitely want to bring , like , different aspects in it . But I've thought , I've thought about it before , I've thought about it before , but it's just like where would I have it ? I would die .
Speaker 1I would die in Greece . Bruce is my dad and he has children and grandchildren that work at the gym and he still tells them I'm his favorite child .
Speaker 2I will say , like Heather , you are , you are like a staple there , cause when I talk to other fans and stuff that go to Gleason's or whatever , they'll either be like oh yeah , yeah , she was like a champ , she sells the tickets there , and then they'll say other things . I'm like , yeah , she was like a champ , she sells the tickets there , and then they'll say other things . I'm like , yeah , that's heather the hearty , like that . Do you know who you're talking ? Do you know who the hell you're talking to ? Like she's so cool , whatever . Like do you know who the fuck you're talking to ? Though , like it's , it's funny to see to me , because to me , like both of you are like oh man , like you just got . If I see someone on tv , I'm like starstruck , but you guys are world champions and it's like whoa . And are you guys , ronica , this is directed towards you but the TCL League , the Team Combat League , are you going to dabble with that again , or are you okay with just doing what you're doing right now ?
Speaker 4No , when I say that I've retired , I've retired , when I say I'm done , I'm done . I did the TCL just as a I was just . I did it just to see if . Okay , let me just jump in the ring and see how I feel . See , you know what this like brings up . You know there's something good . You got to try to just remind yourself and also it was something that was new , something that you know it was just created , and so being able to say that I was a part of it , you know I'm okay with that . But I don't know , it's not something I'm going to do going forward .
Speaker 2Did you like that setup , like the one round , and then it's like a team thing , it's game .
Speaker 4At first I didn't like it too much . I was like this is dumb , especially when you're used to going so many rounds back to back and you understand yourself as a fighter and I know that I'm better on my last ends than I am on my beginnings . So one round for me is I might as well be in the locker room .
Speaker 3You can't get in the flow .
Speaker 4It's just too quick for you know , just for that one , for that three minutes or two minutes or whatever . But what I would say is , as season kept going on and you know they also have the money rounds , so there's sometimes you'll fight twice and not once , but having that team , team , team against team thing , I found that to be like really interesting . I found that to be very exciting , you know , in the way that it happened and how you , you know the points going up , going down , and every fight can be the fight to either take for you to either win it or for you to be close enough , or , you know , or vice versa . So it was . I won't say that it was not fun . It kind of reminded me of when I was on the women's national team in amateurs , and you know we will go to different countries and you know , fight different countries and things like that . I didn't . I think those are my , like my best time in boxing when I was um , when I was doing that .
Speaker 2So people don't realize too . The TCL league like has like legit fighters , like like I know we have a few friends that are pro and they'll go in there because I guess they pay . Good , I heard , I don't know , I don't care to know , but I heard they pay out all right , but and uh , uh , like like you fought a friend of ours , ginny , and and ginny's not a bad fighter , fuchs oh , yeah , yeah , yeah , yeah I'm probably saying her name wrong .
Speaker 2She's gonna kill me , but uh , you fought a friend of ours and and she's , she's decent , she's not . She's not a bad fighter at all and then other pro friends of ours fought people and they're like yo , I wasn't prepared and they came out cracking . They're real fighters . They're not fake fighters .
Speaker 4No , no , no . All the fighters are people who actually fight or who are professional , have records . I think when it first started they wanted people . They wanted I think the first year they wanted people who um was probably like the beginning of their professional right , or they were um amateurs that wanted to go pro . You know , they kind of mean like that and I feel like every year they've changed the criteria of the acceptance and I think right now anybody can can go . It does not matter what your um , what your your pro record look like . It doesn't matter you come , you could win this game for 52 years and they're gonna say yes .
Speaker 3So how is it like the training ? Do y'all train together as a team , or is just like individual and y'all just coming in for that day ?
Speaker 2real quick , real quick . Uh , one of our listeners , friend of a friend of the show , slyly Tendencies . He always listens . Heather the motherfucking heat , awesome fighter and incredible memes . Heather the heart , that ending sequence with Amanda Serrano was sensational . The queen , she killed it .
Speaker 1I didn't make that .
Speaker 2This guy listens all the time . He's a real boxing fan .
Speaker 1I'm about to leave y'all for five minutes so I can go hit my blunt .
Speaker 2You can hit it on here , we don't care .
Speaker 1No , I can't hit it in here .
Speaker 2Oh sorry , We'll hurry up then . Damn Don't you got like a pen . The pens are in now .
Speaker 1I don't fucking want the second person that asked me if I did that .
Speaker 3She's still real blunt , that's true .
Speaker 2You are always in Tim's . I should have known better .
Speaker 4Thank you Always in them damn rusty .
Speaker 1Tim's , listen , I be smoking that same shit Willie Nelson smoked . They ain't no vapes or pens or strawberry sugar , fucking bullshit .
Speaker 2I don't think the eyesight has to do with boxing anymore . Now I know , nah , I'm half kidding , but seriously .
Speaker 1I know what are you doing with the other half ? I don't know .
The Future of Women's Boxing
Speaker 2You are the funny one , heather . I must say you are the funny one , heather . I must say you are the funny one . All right , we'll wrap it up quick . We won't take too much of your time .
Speaker 1Heather's bored jesus uh , he's not bored , but let me tell you something if you blame this on me , she's going to kill me , and then I'm going to kill you too . So figure that out .
Speaker 2I might like that , but there's the creep in me . She's like yo 200 on Venmo right now Bad part . No problem , All right , let's just we'll wrap it up then . I don't . I don't want to take too much of your time . Like I said , let's just we'll wrap it up then . I don't want to take too much of your time , Like I said . You said the training . We're talking about TCL . What do you guys think of Clarissa Shields ? What do you think of this ? Clarissa Shields , Ali stuff , that's your question .
Speaker 1That girl is on fire .
Speaker 3That's my girl . I forgot all about that question .
Speaker 4That girl is on fire .
Speaker 1Leave her . Let her do what she leave her . Let her do that baby girl smiling , she's glowing , she's in her era , she's in her time . She let that one be smiling , leave her alone .
Speaker 2Trini came out don't make Leroy , he's one stop away I never mind but , I love it , but I call through that when she walks into japan you guys are gonna be great podcasters , way more entertaining than ours . I will say like we were just talking , like clarissa Clarissa's so good , it's like it's boring , like it's like you know she's going to win . You know she's going to wax that ass nonstop .
Speaker 4Yes , but it's more than just that . Listen Floyd beat everybody and everybody won so why can't y'all watch her win and win and win these ?
Speaker 1girls , I don't know Very , very good , it's just that much .
Speaker 2I didn't . I didn't mean that as like an insult . We just said to like you , look at what Jake Paul's doing with women's boxing . Look what Clarissa did in Detroit without Jake Paul , Like that stadium was on fire .
Speaker 3So yeah , and that's what I'm saying she was sending every time you would tag her or say anything about her . She was sending that ticket thing over the ticket link .
Speaker 2She almost whipped Willie's ass once ringside .
Speaker 3I was drunk .
Speaker 4I was drunk . Don't play with her .
Speaker 3No , she was cool , she was cool .
Speaker 2She's just that damn good , and again .
Speaker 4And she's about her business . She's her own boss and , as her own boss , she can do what she please . And she's about her business . She's her own boss and , as her own boss , she can do what she pleases , and she's in a healthy relationship too .
Speaker 1Hello what .
Speaker 2We saw that new tattoo .
Speaker 4Listen , leave her alone , let her do what she wants to do .
Speaker 2And again , we're team Clarissa , so we met her a few times . She's always great with us and it's just great to see . But I have a question for you . Heather Serrano hits that hard . Yes , she could crack .
Speaker 1I mean , it's not a secret , I said it a million times she's one of the hardest punches I've ever faced .
Speaker 3What do you think about her fight her trilogy just now ? What do you think about that ?
Speaker 1She's one of the greatest fighters of all time .
Speaker 3You think she won a couple of those , though you think she won two of those .
Speaker 4Definitely , oh yeah . I definitely don't think it was Katie , the last one .
Speaker 1She didn't win , let me tell you something I think her and Katie won all three of those yeah yeah , yeah .
Speaker 2So the biggest takeaway from that fight and this is respect to women's boxing and the level it's at Obviously , when Jake Paul fought Mike Tyson , that broke all kinds of records , whatever , but the only fight that people really cared about as the resident boxing guy those two girls , those two girls and it created such a buzz amongst , like , just regular folk that watch baseball .
Speaker 4They're like whoo and which is sad because the girls have been doing it for a long time . Yeah , I know , I know A long time .
Speaker 2And that's what I meant with that opening question Like is there any part of ?
Speaker 4you guys that are like damn man if we . I wish you know , this time was when it was my era and time , of course , but that's not to say that what you going to do . You know what I'm saying . I was born when I was born , situation happened when it happened , yeah , yeah , yeah , this is what's happening .
Speaker 1That's how .
Speaker 4I look at it Radical generation .
Speaker 1walk the club so I can walk , walk so they can run , run so the next girls can sprint . Because no freedom until we're equal , just because these girls made all that money on the car . Yeah yeah , it don't mean that everybody's paying girls . It don't mean that all women are getting signed . You still got the same bullshit going on .
Speaker 2Yeah .
Speaker 1So there's always going to be a generation of women that retires and looks , and it's not a sense of , you know , resentment , no no , no sadness and knowing , like oh man if I was five years younger , but there's so much pride in it knowing that you don't . I think gloria steinem said I don't pass my baton , I use my torch to light the next generation . So we didn't give nothing up , we're still watching .
Speaker 3I was trying to tell them earlier that y'all need one of those . You know how we were talking about Ali coming back . Y'all need somebody to come back . Like you know , megan Pacquiao comes back , like you know . One of those fights .
Speaker 1I mean . Holly Holm just came back to boxing from the UFC . She just signed , I think , with Latrim .
Speaker 4No , I mean you have a lot of people who are coming back out who feel like you know they still have it in them . So we'll see . I just hope that nobody don't judge them , because they're not judging the guys , so I just hope that they leave all who want to come back .
Speaker 4I don't just hope that they leave . All who want to come back , I don't care how old they are , all who want to come back or who . All who want to call whoever out , let them just come and do what do ? What they do don't have the argue don't have . I don't want to hear the argument about like oh , why would she , why would he , and they and all of them .
Speaker 2I I will do . You think they should go to three minute rounds though , though , because I think if Serrano and Katie Taylor were three-minute rounds , right , oh man , serrano's 3-0 . Easy .
Speaker 3How work ethic is crazy yeah .
Speaker 4I mean I think , listen , there's possibilities of anything . I can't sit down and say yes , I can't sit down and say no . Obviously , we see the kind of One lady got in her .
Speaker 1If my mother had balls , she'd be my father . Right what she said my mother had balls , she'd be my father .
Speaker 2Next question Alright , we're going to let y'all go . Alright , listen .
Speaker 3This is the earliest I'm ever going to go home , yeah .
Speaker 2I'm going to let you all go . Thank you for the time what happened .
Speaker 4Wait , how long do you guys interview people for ?
Speaker 2We just go until the flow stops .
Speaker 3I feel bad , I'm starstruck , I feel like I'm holding Heather up .
Speaker 2I don't want to hold Heather up oh because it started earlier .
Speaker 4That's why I don't want to hold Heather up . Oh , because it started earlier . That's why , oh , you're right , because it's just making seven . Now we can keep going .
Speaker 3I work at 1.30 am , so we be on here . We start at 7 o'clock usually and then we just keep on talking .
Speaker 2It's just rambling . Do you guys just train ? Do you have side jobs ? Or , besides the Feet Finder stuff Heather talked about , do you guys side ?
Speaker 4job , not yet , but coming to me soon , oh okay at a theater near you can't wait to see heather's arch right oh my god , those boots man yo heather .
Speaker 2Heather , you posted something the other day . I didn't , I wasn't gonna say anything . Like I said , I'm a big fan , but there was like chewed gum under your timberland , like you posted , like the timberland , that'sland I was like that's the most street shit I've ever seen .
Speaker 1Let me tell you something . Veronica , tell me if I'm lying . How many dead rats do you step over on the street ? Got to get by cars , by bicycles , the amount of time I'm like , oh shit , Thank God I have Timberland boots on . I wouldn't want my Nike ones . We're going to slap a shit on them .
Speaker 2Those ACGs fall apart . I heard too Timbaland , stay together .
Speaker 1We're not doing that and a sandal A sandal in New York Go down .
Speaker 2So elaborate on this weird rivalry you have with her with the sandals . Not rivalry , but like conflict . Have with who with the sandals ? You , you and her Isn't there , like some , with the shoes or the blue shoes you were talking about on your podcast ? I don't like my boots .
Speaker 4I just said I don't like her boots . I don't know why she's wearing Timbs and 90 degree weather . I don't know .
Speaker 3She's from New York . She's been to New York .
Speaker 1And it's a weapon . I swing this foot . I'm giving someone a concussion . They're going to be at the neurologist for me .
Speaker 2Do you
Reflections on Their Podcast Journey
Speaker 2? Do you so , so , like , like Heather , you're New York escapades , right , like people not from the East Coast even , or obviously New York it's a different entity but , like you see , like crazy shit in the streets all the time .
Speaker 1Every day in my single life single , oh single single , not single . You still have I've been saying for years somebody need a video man , because you can't believe some of this shit that happens you do need a reality show both of you , though that your podcast is the first step .
Speaker 2Like these reality shows , suck . My . My wife watches these dumb shows all day . All these , these fake people like you guys are the most real people . You keep it real . Just keep keeping it real , cause I'm tuned in Like , like I said .
Speaker 4Like I said , I'm tired of baddies too , Since episode one since one I'm like you , got heather you did because you did , you did help , you did hit me up and let me know that , yeah , like enjoyed and you know you liked what you saw , so I appreciate that the next episode is gonna be great .
Speaker 3I'm so excited and and , and I just often do y'all shoot . What's the next one ?
Speaker 4we do , we try to do like , at least like every other week okay that's like us too .
Speaker 2We try to like recap the fights , but , man , you know what boxing needs is a season because , like it's never gonna happen , because boxing is every season .
Speaker 4It's all about like it's not one , it's not a sport where you can be like oh okay , it's the winter , it's the winter , boxing or something . Just said to me they would like all year round .
Speaker 1I was like what ? It was like a football game . I was was a football game . It was flag football . I'm like who the fuck is playing football in fucking August ? You liar Flag football . I was like what ?
Speaker 2It's not racist . That's kind of corny .
Speaker 1That's a basketball he's going to play that flag , fucking football game .
Speaker 3Okay , okay , never mind , it's fun basketball he's going to play that flag , fucking football game . Oh okay , never mind .
Speaker 2Never mind , it's easy fun out there . There you go . How did he say it , though ? Did he say it like it was regular football , though , like , yeah , I'm in the NFL , I got a football game .
Speaker 1No , but you know how guys talk . I was like , oh , what do you got going on today ? Football game , that's how they talk . I don't like a football game . Fucking August , you sack of shit .
Speaker 2He's probably nice , though , if he's in a flag football league .
Speaker 3You can find one and you can be in one tomorrow , if you want what .
Speaker 1I'll pull a hamstring twice . You said he could . He wouldn't , though Not for me . No , you said he could he wouldn't though .
Speaker 2Yeah , I don't know , not for me , Not for me . No one's pulling my flag . That's why no one's pulling my flag .
Speaker 4I don't know what else you got Nothing . Listen , I let you . We did a lot . I let you lily-dial . I see what you're doing . What do you mean ? What am I doing ? I see what you're doing . What do you mean ? What am I doing ? I see what you're doing . What am I doing ? You keep talking to have us keep talking . I feel you though I feel you , though I understand , you Don't worry about it .
Speaker 3I understand you , I'm not .
Speaker 4I'm going to get the blunt . You got to say bye . You got to do the bye . She's going to get that weed . That was an Irish bye . That's what she does when she's out . We be out somewhere and you look for her and she's gone Talking about . Sorry , I did the Irish thing , am I ?
Speaker 1No , my father Listen . When I got married 26 years ago , I got married , I got divorced . When I got married , at my engagement dinner , it was me and my ex-husband , my mother , my father and his parents and my father . Irish Goodbye in the middle of dinner . That is the king of Irish Goodbye , okay .
Speaker 4All right guys Thank you so much .
Speaker 3Next time .
