Balancing life's relentless demands can feel like a circus act, but what happens when we drop the ball on self-care?  In this session I talk about the juggling act of managing family, work, and those pesky curveballs life throws our way. You'll learn why it's not just okay but essential to carve out time for yourself and discover the magic of setting achievable goals, like doing three good things for yourself daily. This isn't about grand gestures; it's the small steps that lead to a replenished well-being.

Prioritize Self-Care for Well-Being

Speaker 1

Peace, peace to all of my good people out there Just trying to make it to another day. Welcome to another session with Shea. This session I want to talk about something that sounds simple but in action of it has lots of steps. I know I personally try every day to make myself better, be better, do better, all that good shit. But in the reality, or in the reality of it's hard, and not that it's hard, but it's just like so many different things are pulling you in every different direction at any given moment of the day, depending on what's on your plate.

Speaker 1

If you have a husband, a wife you got kids, you got a husband, a wife, you got kids. You got a job, you got a dog, you got friends, you got co-workers, you got bills, you got all those different things pulling at you all day, every day. And then you have the surprises of things that come up, whether it be weather, or you know your car, your car, or you know you're not feeling well. Any of those things can get thrown at you to even more so pull away from your focus. So I'm gonna add one more thing into your pool of shit that you got to worry about on the daily. But I would ask that you place it a little bit above all of the the other things like prioritize what you must. You know, if you have things that have to be handled, they have to be handled. But the thing I want to try to stress in a certain way is we all got to start trying to take better care of ourselves. And of course, that sounds easy like take care of yourself. What who knows better than what you need, than you, right? But having all of those things pull you in so many different directions at any given time of the day, any day, can take a toll on you trying to take care of you or prioritizing you. And if you are a parent or or a caregiver or something of that nature, it's very much more harder or much more difficult to prioritize yourself, depending on who you are. So I ask that if you can try to think about you, your individual selves, as much as you can and try to prioritize your well-being above the other stuff within reason, like I said, if you got kids husband, wife, parents you're taking care of, whatever do what you need to do with that.

Speaker 1

I say that because I've had so many people tell me, and even me myself personally that realize that we can't take care of other people if we don't take care of ourselves first. And it's interesting too, because we we wholeheartedly want to make sure everybody's good and everybody around us is good, and with helping them we feel like we have to keep helping until you know they're good. But then, in that same breath, it's like I can't maintain that giving out if you don't give it back to yourself. And that's like you know you hear people say you keep giving out of your cup and you never replenish that cup stays empty. So how are you going to give that to people or whoever or whatever, if there's nothing to give Because you've given it all away and haven't replenished yourself?

Speaker 1

You've given it all away and haven't replenished yourself. And you know it doesn't have to be like earth-moving shit, like you could literally just breathe better, drink more water, get a little bit more exercise, read a book, shut off your mind, Put down your phone, don't watch that video. That's going to, you know, deter you from your peace. Don't have to be like big stuff. It could just be actual little things and that can help. Well, not necessarily help, but actually be a little bit better than not taking care of yourself in those aspects.

Speaker 1

And if you do, if you want to set a goal like I'm going to do three good things for myself today and put that for a goal, it could be three big goals. If you want to make sure you do big stuff for yourself today, do that. They could be small things too, because the small victories, they definitely matter, and if you can do the three, that's a goal achieved. If you do three and then some, even better, because it's all for the benefit of you and your self-care, and then I would hope it would help you to feel better about you too. I know it did for me. I put a set of goal for myself to say I'm going to say three nice things about me today, and then I did that. And then I said you know what Cool, I'm going to say three things nice about myself today.

Speaker 1

Every three chapters of a new book, boom, ok, I love how this is feeling. I'm loving the consistency of me, I'm loving how I'm boosting myself up and I'm boosting my brainpower too. I love all that and I did that for me and it helped me in so many ways, just to, you know, prioritize myself and made me feel better about what I give out to the world and give out to others, what I give out to the world and give out to others, because I replenished that proverbial cup. But you know, it's just an ask. If you can do it, you can do it and I'm pretty sure it'll make you feel a lot better about yourself. And if it doesn't, then I don't know.

Speaker 1

I'm not a licensed medical professional or anything like that anyway. So I couldn't say whether or not it was good information, it was just information, but I do sincerely and honestly hope that, if hope that if that helps anybody, I'm glad for it and that it goes to whoever it needs to go to for that. So, yeah, a little short session. I hope you all take the time out for yourselves in any small capacity or big capacity that you you want to do, because you deserve it, you're worthy of it and you're dope as fuck and you should want you to be better. I hope each and every one of you have a great rest of your day, rest of your evening, and I will catch you on the next session with Shay Peace and I will catch you on the next session with Shea peace.
