Hi, this is Larry Wilson and this is how to talk to humans. This is the podcast that shows you how to improve your communication skills. Are you looking to get a better job? Are you looking to find a relationship? Are you trying to do things in your life that have frustrated you and eluded you so far, I can show you so easily how to change that. Now, I can only do it with humans. If you're looking to deal with vampires or zombies, extraterrestrial, this is not the show for you. But if you're really looking to improve your communication skills, I can show you what I've learned from 40 years in show business, working with the biggest celebrities and superstars in the world. And their secrets are unbelievable. What I'm going to be teaching you during this course of this podcast every week, are tools that you can use to communicate toward success. Have you ever watched the Emmy Awards on television, I've been recognized with their highest honor. And it had nothing to do with talent. It had to do with my communication skills. What if I could teach you all the secrets that I know about communication in no time at all. And you could use those to acquire the things in your life that you feel are lacking. Things that have been frustrating you things that you haven't been able to accomplish, you might be able to get an A level of skill that causes people to want to invest in you. business wise or personally, professionally, as well as personally they want to have connection with you. This can be easily done. And the tools that I have assembled here are all what I call under the rubric of the Wilson method. They really are the accumulation and distillation of over 40 years I spent in showbusiness at a later episode, I'll probably tell you more about my personal story that sort of directed me down this path. But on a more practical level, I found I was working on the biggest stages in the world, with the biggest entertainers in the world, the most successful people I've ever seen in my life. And I began to realize that they really seem to have certain tools that they used to get everything they wanted out of life. It was amazing. And some of them clearly, were very conscious of what they were doing. Others perhaps were running on instinct. But the more I watched, the more I realized, Oh, this is not about talent. These are specific techniques. And I thought that was great news. Because technique is something that anyone can learn. If you speak English well enough to understand me, then you can certainly learn any of these techniques. I can't teach anyone to be talented. I don't know how to do that. I don't know if anyone knows how to do that. But I can definitely teach you the techniques that I learned. And it's extraordinary the difference it will make in your life in little ways, on a micro level and sometimes in macro ways on a huge level, radically changing your business, your income, your personal relationships. It's so powerful that at times it seems like you have an unfair advantage. I worked as a and I still do work as a comedy magician. And it has given me extraordinary opportunities to travel all over the world. nominated for an Emmy was awarded the title of comedy magician of the Year by the Forte awards. So I really found the most valuable thing of this entire life's experience, were the communication skills, I was able to glean from these people I think of as expert communicators. You don't necessarily think of them that way. Sometimes you just think of them as charming people, or you think of them as persuasive people. Sometimes you think of them, oh, that person's really smart. And all of those may be true, they may apply to them. But in my experience, the Rubicon that you're crossing there is really about their communication skills. In fact, the first thing that comes to mind is a video interview I saw last year, where Warren Buffett was being interviewed by a young interviewer. And the young interviewer said, What advice can you give people who are starting out in business, and without a moment's hesitation, above to, oh, there's one thing you can do immediately, that will increase your value by least 50%. And I remember sitting up thinking, Oh, my God, I want to hear this. And Buffett says, improve your communication skills, both written and verbal. He said, doesn't matter how smart you are, if you cannot communicate those ideas. It's like winking at a girl in the dark. Nothing happens, which I thought was enormously charming of him to say, but it's true. And I take this opportunity to point out that a lot of what I teach in Wilson method is not just speaking, because there's a lot that goes on in communication, that is a semiotic, which means it is not spoken. Now, sometimes people think, Oh, you mean like body language? Well, certainly body language is part of that. But there's so much else in our communication, every day you do it, I do it. The difference may be that you may be doing some of it without thinking about it or unconsciously. And that may not serve you as well, if you have a specific goal in mind, as if you were able to say, Oh, this is what I want. I'm going to employ this specific technique to achieve it. And I'll I'll give you a perfect example. You're listening to me on some sort of audio device. So you can't possibly be seeing my body language. But all the different colors, textures and nuance of my voice are semiotic. In addition to the actual words, you hear me saying, and you yourself, as soon as you hear this, you realize, oh, yeah, that's true, isn't it? If I said, Oh, yeah, that's true, isn't it? That communicate something besides just the words? If I said, Oh, that's true, isn't it that makes you feel and think something else. So these are not spoken, the words may be spoken, but the information that's coming off, the most obvious example, I guess, is sarcasm. When someone does something and says, how was that you said, Oh, great job. Well, if we just did a transcript, we'd see the words great job. But when we hear you semiotically more information is being sent across to you that suggests maybe it wasn't the best possible job you could do. And, you know, there's so many things that have to do with semiotics. In Wilson method, I encourage you frequently to address different kinds of communication because they all require different techniques. You don't speak to people on the phone, the way you speak to them face to face. You don't speak to them face to face, the way you'd speak to them on Zoom. You don't text them, or email them using the same language or the same cadence or the same rhythm, or even the same vocabulary. And all of these things are very easy to master and I feel Like, I'm the perfect example of this, if they were hard to do, I couldn't do them. I don't have a great facility with technical things, especially with modern technology. So I wouldn't let that stymie you, I wouldn't, I wouldn't let that frighten you. What it really requires is a desire to improve your communication. If you have that, and you follow the stuff I'm going to share with you in the ensuing episodes of how to talk to humans, you're going to find your communication skills improved dramatically. But even more, so you're going to see results. And it may be surprising, you may feel at a certain point. Like it's magical. And I know this seems crazy, because I'm a professional magician. But I frequently think of myself when I'm performing as a magician. I think oh, what I'm really doing is simply using my expertise, as a communicator, I'm able to focus people's attention on the things I want, and in the direction I want where I want, because my communication is so clear. And ultimately, that's our goal. In Wilson method, the pursuit of clarity. That's what we're always going for. We want you to be able to communicate so clearly, that it's impossible for someone to misunderstand you. And in By that same token, I know that many of you listening to this may feel in some cases, like people don't see you, or they don't hear the things you say. And I think this is really the most horrible feeling imaginable. Really, I think it's worse than anything, anything else, to feel as if you're invisible, as if you're unheard. And one of the goals here and Wilson method is to make you communicate in a way that makes you impossible to ignore. It's much easier than you could imagine. It really is. And of course, it's always focused towards pursuing clarity in your communication. We're going to learn all of that, we're going to learn it step by step. And, you know, I should also point out something here. Sometimes when you're learning new things, it's very easy to let yourself feel overwhelmed. If there are things you've never encountered before, or if the technique of employing them is something new to you, or unusual. Or maybe it even feels counterintuitive to what you think is the normal way to do things. It's very easy to feel like well, I could never, I could never do all this stuff. I it's too much too much. Here's some really good news for you. You don't have to do everything I talk about. If you did, it would be fantastic. But even if you do 10% of the things you hear, in this podcast, you will see dramatic improvements in your life. And if you're honest with yourself, if you really look at things around you at the people at your business, at your life and things that are going on. If you're serious about evaluating, you'll realize something's changing. Now, you may want to say, Oh, it's a coincidence. All right, if that's what you want, that's all right. I don't have to get credit, I don't care. But I can tell you it's not a coincidence. The clearer your communication is, the more amazing things are going to happen with you. In the next episode, we'll get deeper into how I came to this incredibly strange life. And this accumulation of riches I have that are really these tools I've accumulated from all these people. I look forward to telling you all about it. So, this has been Larry Wilson, I want to thank you for spending this time with me. And I hope you found this information useful.
