Episode 12: Brad Booker
I GOT TO PLAY "EVERY BREATH YOU TAKE" AND "ONE ANGEL" WITH BRAD BOOKER!!!
For those of you who don't know, Brad Booker is the drummer from the alternative rock band Stir, which then went on to morph into El Monstero, the original St. Louis Pink Floyd tribute band. He also was the drummer for Gravity Kills for a while.
Brad and I have become fast friends over the past few months, because his real estate office is coincidentally right next to the Different Dynamics Music Exploratorium, which is where I've been spending a lot of my time.
Brad and I discuss his life and career as a performer, what it's like being in a group with childhood friends, the neurodivergence of hoarding (something he has witnessed firsthand in his real estate career), the healing power of drums for your physical and mental health, and many more topics. Brad's kinda like me, we both dig music very very much, but we also both have had fallow periods in our lives when we haven't made much music. Also, we both need time alone to detach from stressors. Cool!
We close the podcast with a run-through of a couple different tunes. I thought the Stir song "One Angel" came across quite well ;-)
