Speaker 1:

My brothers and sisters, it's Walt here with simple thoughts and simple prayers. Today we'll be covering the passage of Proverbs 3, 5 through 6. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean out on your own understanding In all your ways. Acknowledge Him and he will make your path straight. Alright, let's get real. You know, it's easy to think we've got everything under control. We plot our course, we make our plans, we think we got it all figured out, but the truth is we're just a speck in the grand scheme of things.

Speaker 1:

I remember there was a time where I was going on my first mission trip to Utah and I was blessed to receive lots of donations for the trip. But one day before our departure I was, let's just say, several hundred dollars short, short enough to doubt I'd even be attending the trip. I was emptying out every piggy bank and searching for any loose change I could find in the couch to get closer to my payment. Leaning on my own understanding, I felt overwhelmed by life's complexities. When the world seems to be spinning out of control, there's one anchor that can hold us steady Trust in the Lord. This isn't a casual trust, but a deep-rooted, unwavering reliance on his wisdom and goodness. It's a trust that says even when I don't understand, I know you do. Proverbs 3, 5-6 is a reminder that we need to trust in God, not ourselves. We need to acknowledge Him in everything we do. It's like putting your faith in a GPS. Sure, you can try to navigate on your own, but you're more likely to get lost when you trust the GPS. It guides you to your destination.

Speaker 1:

After panicking up until the day before my men's group would be leaving, I finally committed to trusting God. I acknowledged Him in every decision, big or small. I leaned on His wisdom, not my own, and I watched as he straightened out my path and led me to where I wanted to be. I prayed Lord, if you want me to go on this mission trip, then make a way for me to go. I'll never forget that night. Before leaving, a large lump sum of money was transferred into my bank account due to some insufficiencies that had occurred at the company prior. Due to some insufficiencies that had occurred at the company prior, the Lord provided in a major way and I was able to pay for the rest of my trip.

Speaker 1:

We can be tempted to lean on our own understanding, to think we've got everything figured out, but let me tell you, our human intellect is limited. We're prone to error, to making decisions based on faulty assumptions. When we rely on ourselves, we're building on a shaky foundation. When we trust in the Lord, we're building on the solid rock of his eternal truth. To trust in the Lord means to acknowledge him in all our ways. It means seeking his guidance in every decision, big or small. It means recognizing his hand in every circumstance, good or bad. When we do this, we invite him to direct our paths.

Speaker 1:

The promise in these verses is clear when we trust in the Lord and acknowledge Him in all our ways, he will direct our paths. He won't just let us wander aimlessly. He will guide us, protect us and lead us to the place he has prepared for us. So let's make a choice today to trust in the Lord with all our hearts. Let's lean not on our own understanding, but let's acknowledge him in all our ways. Let's watch as he directs our paths in miraculous ways. Let us pray heavenly father, we come to you today with a heart that seeks your guidance. Help us trust in you with all our heart and lean out on our own understanding. In all our ways, we acknowledge you as our Lord and Savior, lead us in your paths and make our way straight. Thank you for your love and faithfulness. In Jesus' holy name we pray Amen.
