Excuse me. So today we are diving more into uh Disney Cruise line. Last week we did just a basic general overview and what is included and not included in the cost of a Disney cruise. This week we're going to dive more into the first two ships in the Disney Cruise line. These iconic vessels have been delighting guests for decades, blending Disney storytelling, legendary service, Broadway style entertainment, and unforgettable destinations into one magical vacation. Now while they may not look like while they may look like sister ships, and they do have some similarities, each ship has uh some of its own unique personality, and that's what we're going to look at today. Excuse me. So starting with the ship that began it all, okay, that is the original Disney Magic. The Disney Magic launched in 1998, and both the Magic and The Wonder have an Art Deco design look to them. Um The Magic has 11 public decks, um, eight hundred and seventy-five staterooms, with the majority of those staterooms having the signature split bathrooms. Um so I think and I've done a podcast, I did it a couple years ago where I went and did all of the state rooms. I'm not gonna do that. Um, but just know that there are uh inside staterooms, ocean view staterooms, ocean view with veranda, and contierge, and then there's a couple of subcategories up in there, like Ocean View Family that's a little bit bigger, and then Ocean View Family with Veranda that's a little bit bigger than just a regular Ocean View with Veranda. Um, and most of those except for the inside staterooms, um, in fact, all of those except for the inside state rooms have that split uh bathroom where one bathroom has a sink and the shower slash tub, and the other bathroom has a sink and a potty. So while someone's going to the bathroom, someone can be taking a shower or getting dressed, or vice versa, okay? Um, so that's pretty awesome as well. So um that's kind of a little bit of a just general over overview of of the ship. Now we're going to be looking at uh dining, and again, Disney Cruise um began something um when it first kicked off that really revolutionized the cruising industry. Um number one was families. Um before before uh Disney Cruise Line kind of began, uh most cruises were geared more towards adults. Um and Disney Cruise Line said, no, what about parents with kids that want to go on cruises, stuff like that? So uh that's one of the reasons for the split bathrooms and why a lot of other cruise lines don't have those. But Disney Cruise Line does because they were looking at families as a whole. Now, dining, they introduced a revolutionary thing of rotational dining, where each night you go to a different restaurant where instead of on most other cruise ships, you just eat in one huge dining room every night, the same dining room. Um so the rotational dining, excuse me, and again you're gonna see some of these similar, some some similar places between each ship, but then again, each ship has an uh something unique to itself. Um but the three rotational dining uh restaurants on the Disney Magic is uh are uh Rapunzel's Royal Table, Animator's Palette, and Lumiere's. And then you also have some casual dining, which is cabanas, which is their uh buffet style that is open for breakfast and lunch. Um and then you also have some uh quick service locations out on the pool deck, Daisy, delights, uh duck in diner, ice cream, treats, and frozen treats, um, and Pinocchio's pizzeria. So that's a lot of your your main dining on on the Disney Magic, except for uh adult-only dining, which is Paolo, but you have to pay extra for that and you have to make reservations for that. Um moving on, we all the the Broadway style shows that are on the Disney Magic in the Walt Disney Theater. Um you have Tangled, the musical, um, Disney Dreams and Enchanted Classic, and Twice Charmed, an original twist on the Cinderella story. So that's going to be the three Broadway style shows that take place upon uh the Disney Magic. Excuse me. Now let's take a moment and look at adults only areas. Uh, because I will say this, we are finding that more people more adults are taking um Disney cruises without their kids, or even when their kids grow and move out of the house, they're still sticking with Disney cruises because they do offer phenomenal service um as well as great um adult dining locations. So adults only nightlife on the ship. Um, you have um uh Soulcat Lounge, excuse me. I'm trying to read my notes right here. I've written a little small. You've got Soulcat Lounge, uh, which is inspired by Pixar uh the Pixar movie Soul, uh which is has which is more of like a jazz bar. Um you have you have Keys, which is a piano bar, um, and then Fathoms, which is a multi-purpose style nightclub. And then also after hours, you have O'Gill's pub. Um, and then also not just for nightlife, you do have some adult-only areas um for during the day. You have the census spawn salon, you have uh the cove cafe, which gives you specialty coffees, and then also the adult pool area, which is called Quiet Cove Pool. So there are areas to get away from families and and children um while you're on the ships, if you're going just as adults, it's not just for families and it's not just for kids. Um, they do take great care of of adults as well. Now moving on to the kids' club, because one of the things that Disney did um in doing some research, and actually, if you go to Disney Plus, um oh gosh, what's it called? It's not Imagineering, it's it's the show how what there's a show on Disney Plus that they've done two episodes this season on Disney Cruise Line, and so I kind of learned this through that. Um but one of the things that Disney did is a lot of the other ships um before Disney Cruise Line kind of came out only had like small areas for kids, um, and Disney Cruise Line wanted to change that, and so they looked at giving children, giving kids about 5,000 square feet just for the kids, for their kids' clubs. And this blew the minds of a lot of other cruise lines. Um, but of course, Disney being an entertainment company and being a family company with their parks and everything, well, they wanted to tie that into their ships as well. Um so the kids club on the Disney Magic, um, you have uh it's a small world nursery, which is ages six months to three years. Now, again, it's a small world, uh, you have to pay extra for that and you have to book that. Um, there's not just someone always sitting in the nursery. Uh, you do have to make reservations for that, and it does cost you to use the nursery. But for ages three to ten, you have the Disney's Oceaneer Club and Oceaneer Lab, which inside of those has the Marvel Superhero Academy, Andy's Room, which basically you're almost kind of like you're you're shrunk down to the size of a toy, with the theming in the room being ginormous. You've got Club Mouse and then Animator's Studio. But they didn't just stop with kids, they gave uh preteens, tweens, and teenagers um a place of their own. So uh for 11 through 14-year-olds, they have Edge, and then for 14 to 17-year-olds, they have Vibe. Um, so it's pretty awesome that Disney takes into account um not just adults but kids and and preteens, teenagers, and tweens, they kind of take everyone into account when creating spaces um for everyone. So that's that's pretty awesome as well. Now, as far as uh family fun on uh on the outside of the ship around on the pool decks, um you've got Goofy's Pool, which uh hosts a lot of deck parties, and off uh you have funnel vision, which is the screen outside that shows uh movies. Um for little ones, you've got the nephew's splash zone, you've got the Aqua Dunk, which is a three-story water slide, um, Aqua Lab, which is more of a water experiment type area, and then you've got Twist and Shout, uh, which is a smaller water slide. And then on deck 10, you do have the wide world of sports, which includes basketball, volleyball, soccer nets, ping pong, um, and lots of things for your kids and adults to be able to take part in. Now, inside Family Fun, you have the the Buena Vista Theater, uh, which shows movies all throughout the day, even um first run movies if it's coming out in the theaters on land uh while you're on your cruise, they will show it on your cruise for the first time as well. And then there's also a lounge called the D Lounge, which is uh provides family-style karaoke, trivia, and game shows. Now, one of my favorite parts about the ships is looking at the different characters, not the characters that you meet while you're on the ship, but each ship has different characters on the bow, the stern, and in their grand hall, they have a statue. Now, on the front of the ship or the bow is uh different characters are painted on, but on the back of the ship, the stern, there are uh statues of different characters on each ship, and then there is a uh bronze golden statue of a character or characters in the grand hall. So on the front of the magic on the bow, you have sorcerer Mickey, and then on the back, the stern, you have um Oh my goodness, you have Goofy, sorry, who is painting the uh the name of the ship on the back of it, um, a statue of Goofy painting, and then in the grand hall you have Helmsman Mickey, which is basically Mickey at the I don't want to call it a steering wheel, but at the wheel, taking the helm of the ship. So that is an overview of the Disney Magic. And again, the Disney Magic and your Disney Wonder are both going to be smaller ships. They were the first ones, um, but but pretty, pretty cool. So that's a general overview, kind of uh a little bit of a dive into the Disney Magic. Now, the sister ship of the Disney Magic, the Disney Wonder, has a lot of similarities. Um, it was it launched in 1999. One of the things that they decid that Disney uh decided to do when they wanted to dive into the cruise industry is they didn't want to start with one ship, they wanted to start with two. So they launched the Magic in 1998, and then The Wonder in 1999. It also has 11 public decks. It has 877 state rooms, with the majority of those rooms still having those split bathrooms. Now the rotational dining on the Disney Wonder is gonna have some difference, but some of the same. Uh, it's got Tiana's place. It has the same animators palette, but then it also has Triton's. So the Animator's palette is basically the same on both ships, but two other different rotational dining. Um, you still have the cabanas uh with the buffet on the wonder. You've got Pete's um boiler bites, you've got Pinocchio's Pizzeria, and Daisy's Delights as well out around the pool deck, and then also the adults-only dining that costs you extra and have to make a reservation. Uh Paolo. Excuse me. I'm telling you, the last two shows, I'm just my ugh, got a little something, keep getting a little something stuck in my throat. Um, the Broadway shows on the Disney Wonder. You have Frozen, a musical spectacular, the Golden Mickeys, and then also the same uh Disney Dreams and Enchanted Classic. So both that is on The Magic and The Wonder, but they both have two different shows as well. Uh it's a pretty awesome there. Heard some great things about all of these shows, which I'm sure all of them are phenomenal because Disney takes great pride in making sure that their shows are Broadway style and meet that level of expectation. Uh, adults-only nightlife, because guys, it's not always just about the kids. We adults like to have a good time ourselves. Um, adult-only nightlife. Um, you've got the district, which is a comp which is basically several places kind of close to one another. You've got Pink, an upscale champagne bar, Evolution, which is the game show comedy, which has game shows, comedy, and dancing for adults at night, uh, 687 Pub, which is a sports bar, and Skyline, which is more of a chic bar, and the district lounge. And then also, not just for nightlife, for the adults only, you've got the quiet cove pool, the cove cafe for specialty coffees, and then always the senses spa and salon, which for that as well, you have to make reservations, and it does cost you extra. So gotta think about yourselves, mom and dad. Nothing wrong with that. You have to be able to enjoy your trip too. Now, don't get me wrong. I have a great time while I'm watching my kids have a great time, but every once in a while I've got to sneak in a little something for myself too. Now, for the kids, you've got this, you've got your kids' clubs. Uh, the same across the board. It's a small world nursery for six months, the three-year-old. Um, obviously, you have to make reservations for that, and it costs you extra. Then you have the Oceaneers Club and Lab for three to ten-year-olds, and this has a few of the same things, but a few different things. You've got and you've got the Andy's Room, uh, Marvel Superhero Academy, but on this one you've got a frozen adventure, got and the animators studio. Um you still got the uh the edge for the 11 to 14 year olds, and then vibe for the 14 to 17 year olds. Now for outside family fun, the the wonder does not have an aqua dunk, um, but it does have the wide world of sports deck on deck 10, which has the same basketball, volleyball, you know, um soccer nets, and lots of other things. Um it does have the twist and s uh twist and spout? Am I saying that right? I can't read my writing. It's so tiny. Why did I write so tiny? Why did I write so tiny? That's nuts. Uh the twist and spout, yes, sorry. Um which is a smaller uh slide. You've got the goofy's pool, you've got the funnel vision, and for the little ones, the nephew's splash zone as well. Uh inside Family Fun, you've got the Buena Vista Theater showing movies all throughout the day. Now I will say this, um the Magic class and the Dream class all have one huge uh movie theater, the Buena Vista Theater. When we get to the Wish class, that's gonna change a little bit. Um so you've got that, the Buena Vista Theater on the inside. And I I I know there's a place inside there that does games and trivia and things for families throughout the day. I just did not happen to write that down. Sorry about that. Uh, but your characters, your main characters on the bow, the stern, and in the grand hall. On the front, the bow, you've got steamboat Willie. Pretty awesome there. Um on the back, the stern, you've got Donald Duck and his nephews. And then in the grand hall, you have a statue of Ariel. So there you go, guys. That's the magic class ships, the Disney Magic and the Disney Wonder. Lots of similarities. They are sister ships, pretty similar in size. Um, maybe the wonder is just a tad bit larger, not by much. Um, but a lot more, but they're the smallest of the ships, a little more intimate, older style. Um, they really wanted to the look of the older um style uh cruise lines. Um I'm trying to think of what they like the Queen Mary, I think is what it was, um, back a you know a long time ago, they just wanted that look. Um, but pretty awesome, wonderful, uh, great activities for the kids and the kids' club, family activities as well as adult-only activities. Um so something for everyone, and also all throughout the day, there's constant things happening along the ship. If even even when the ship is at at port, whether at Nassau or one of the private islands or wherever the ship may be stopping, there's they still have things all throughout uh the ship. And you know, something I did not write down was shopping that is on these ships. I'll have to come back and I'll have to look at those um next week because a lot of the ships have do have the same kind of kind of shopping as well. Um but I completely forgot about that. Goodness gracious, I don't know why I didn't think about that. Anyway, but that is the Disney Magic and the Disney Wonder uh kind of dove in a little bit more. So if you are interested in looking at booking a Disney Cruise, there are some promos that are out. I'm not gonna really discuss those. Um but again uh you if you book a Disney cruise uh with me through Mickey World Travel, you do you are able to get up to a thousand dollars for an onboard credit that can go towards anything, it can go towards you buying those specialty drinks, um, excursions, even shopping um on the ship. Um so you know that can take care of some of those extra cost things that happen. Maybe a date at Paolo. Hello. Anyway, uh guys, thank you so much for tuning in today. Next week, we're gonna dive into the dream class of ships, and I can speak a little bit more into one of these because I have been on one of those ships. Now it's been a few years, so I'll have to kind of jog jog my memory and go back and look at some photos. Um, but we did go on one of those ships a few years ago. So, again, guys, thank you so much for tuning in. Um, ways that you're able to help the show is hey, again, using me to book your next Disney Destination vacation. That is always helpful.
