What's up, everybody? Welcome back to the Raven in Real Life show. And we have my friend Maria in the bag. What's up? So today we're gonna talk about just being busy and how to kind of calm yourself down and come back to yourself. We have a couple different guests, but I definitely wanted to start the conversation with you today. Thank you. Because if you look up busy, that is you. So let's talk about all the new things that you've been working on the last couple of months.
SPEAKER_10Okay, yes. Most importantly, um, I've been learning about community and how important it is and the power of people right here where we live. So I started the Columbus Fashion Council, and I had a meeting, and the meeting turned into let's do a pop-up next week. So we did, and it was fantastic. Shout out to the tap for allowing us to do that there. Um, and it was fantastic. People came to actually see the show, and it was great. So we are going full speed ahead for that. Uh Miami swim week's coming up, still New York Fashion Week in September is on the back burner, and my kid graduates on Saturday, so I'm super excited.
SPEAKER_09Yay, mine too. High five. High five. We did it. Way to go, parent. Okay, that's I'm excited. All of my kids are 18 or older, so we're not legally responsible for any of them.
SPEAKER_10That's the most important part. Yeah, but you also, so you also went to Arizona. Yes, did a lot of model castings, Miami, Arizona, Atlanta, online virtually, all the things. All the things just to, yeah, um my hustle game is strong, as is yours, ma'am.
SPEAKER_09Yes, ma'am. But we hustle together, so we're also part. Um, if you guys don't know about it, I feel like maybe we brought this up last time, but look into B and I. If you are a business owner or the face of a company, look into B and I because definitely helped. We're members of two different chapters, one each.
SPEAKER_10One each, yep.
SPEAKER_09Um, so so how has that been like the networking with the business community here?
SPEAKER_10It is insane. When you find your tribe, it is it means the world. It you can go places that you didn't know that you could go just because you already know you have people who believe in you. Uh, and then with the B and I part of it, it just it's a community of like-minded people who are ready to pour back into your business when you pour into theirs.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, I'm sure.
SPEAKER_10You fill up my cup, I fill up yours.
SPEAKER_09For sure.
SPEAKER_10I love it. It's great.
SPEAKER_09You always fill up my cup. Oh, you really do. So something that you did for me recently was, and this will go into our next couple of segments, but you've got me a float at one of those places.
SPEAKER_10What I actually got you was a moment to just pause and reset your nervous system. Yeah. Because homegirl get cruzy. So I just saw a chance to pour back into you and r help you know that I love you and I support you, but also that um, you know, I'm a friend who believes in you as a whole person. Your spirit, your mind, your body, and all of those things are important because we are so busy and we do go nonstop.
SPEAKER_08Yeah.
SPEAKER_10And so um the one of one of your next guests, and we'll give it away, um, has created an environment where it is you just walk in and you just want to sit down and just and I thought, hey, you probably need that.
SPEAKER_09I do, I do.
SPEAKER_10And did you did you go?
SPEAKER_09I thought I went yesterday. And it was absolutely amazing, first off. So I and I asked her afterwards, like, because my mind didn't completely shut off. Because that's I think that's your goal.
SPEAKER_10I think I called you and said, Hey, the hardest part for this is going to be Yeah.
SPEAKER_09And I was like, no, I relax. I go to like I could lay my head down. I could have two cups of coffee and lay my head down and go to sleep. But I guess in that, um, it was it felt so nice. I was just pushing myself off the side.
SPEAKER_10Lights off, no sound floating on the water. There's nothing to do.
SPEAKER_09Yeah.
SPEAKER_10It's just weird.
SPEAKER_09Yeah.
SPEAKER_10Kind of.
SPEAKER_09It could feel good.
SPEAKER_10It feels good. Like it's it's it's a I say weird because of lack of my uh better word, but it's one of those things where you're just like, it's okay for me to be here right now.
SPEAKER_09Yeah.
SPEAKER_10Um, and just to kind of shut my mind off, which I told you was a hard thing for me to do, but it it I felt better afterwards. I will say rejuvenated and my muscles were great.
SPEAKER_09The entire time that I did it, I did not think about my dishes or my laundry. And that's all I've thought about for about three and a half months because I still haven't need you to get on that.
SPEAKER_10But for real, but good, but shutting some tabs off. That's exactly what this place does, and I'm here for it every single time.
SPEAKER_09And you did that in a way of not just like, here you go, this is for you. This is a you experience this and then do it for somebody else.
SPEAKER_10100%.
SPEAKER_09So, what are some other things that you're doing right now to kind of shut down? Because you you're doing so much.
SPEAKER_10Yes. Um, so another way that I shut down is I pour back into other people. Um, just with a text message of like, don't forget who you are.
SPEAKER_08Yeah.
SPEAKER_10And I believe in you, keep shining. Just uh because those things help me sometimes. Um, I am pouring really hard back into the community, just trying to show up for other people's things, just because I don't have to be in charge of it in order for it to grow. Um so we went last night to a networking event and just helping people in our community who are also doing similar things to the things that we're trying to do because it's not competition, it's it's it's business and it's love. So just shining light everywhere I can.
SPEAKER_09I love that. Oh, let's get a shout out to all of them that were there last time too. So um it was held at Stir Up Trouble.
SPEAKER_10And then um Evolve Event Community Events, Evolve Community Events. Cache, yes.
SPEAKER_09Did I just say Gauche?
SPEAKER_10You said Gauche, but her name is Cachet. Her name is Cash. It is Cash.
SPEAKER_09She supported all of our stuff when we did the women. She was there all the time, 100%.
SPEAKER_10And I was finally in town for something that they were doing, and Stir Up Trouble is amazing. If you've not been, um Go Bianca is a a great host there. Yes, and they had a panel of other entrepreneurs. Um, and we actually kind of have been doing simultaneously things with these people, so it was really good to see um hear the questions of other people in our community, and they sat in a panel, they were all nervous, and it was cute, and I was like, oh, that would be too.
SPEAKER_09It was so cute, and it was so cool. I think one of my favorite answers, just because like I wonder what is how do you strike that balance, was when they asked them of um, you know, now that your business is thriving, how do you get out into the community? Because we're still like constant community runners. 100%. Um, so I we're gonna have to learn that. But in in learning that, we're definitely gonna have to balance our equilibrium and our whatever else.
SPEAKER_10And I'm learning that being in the community and and finding this place. Um, I I'm learning that it is so important to balance not just your mind, but your soul, your body, how you feel, what you're thinking, all of that plays into how your business thrives.
SPEAKER_09Yep.
SPEAKER_10And it is important that you know that if you are an entrepreneur, your life, your world, it all is uh coincides with how your business succeeds.
SPEAKER_09Faux show. And that's what they told us last night.
SPEAKER_10I learned that last night. I that's not a me thing.
SPEAKER_09Faux show.
SPEAKER_10Yes, it was great.
SPEAKER_09So whenever I come back, I'm gonna have the owner of that place, Solace, and I can't remember the whole name, so you don't have to come back to figure it out. Be back in two minutes.
unknownBye.

SPEAKER_00My name is Delbert Bland, and we're in the middle of a Vaidella sweet onion field. There used to be a Pika Wiggly warehouse in Vaidella, and they were buying local produce, and when they delivered them, they called them Piga Wiggly onions. Everybody got to try them and said, geez, these onions are great. Where'd they come from? Produce guy would eventually say, Well, the truck came out of Videya. I don't know where the onions are from. So, Vaidella stuff. This is where we grew up, and this is where we make our life. And Pigou Wiggly is part of it.

SPEAKER_02When you care for someone, they're always on your mind. When they hurt, you hurt. And when they need you, you'll be there. And as time runs out, it may be tough, but you do it anyway because you are a caregiver. Make these days the best days. They will be gone. Columbus Hot, taking care of patients and their caregivers since 1979. And that's a great deal.
SPEAKER_05Oh, I love it. Great job. Here at Radiant, we value collaboration over competition. Team, I want to tell you y'all did a great job on that deal. You need a company that offers you your best of your real estate journey. Come on over to Radiant Real Estate Services. Let's see how we can partner to make you your best at real estate.
SPEAKER_09Welcome back, you guys. And make sure when you watch commercials during this show, just know they are truly supporting me. So please go and check them out on social media and support their businesses when you need it. But right now we're going to talk a little bit about you and your business. So right here I have Miss Casey Boyle, and you have brought Solace to our community. Tell me the full name because I'm messed up.
SPEAKER_07So it's Solace Shades of Healing Float and Wellness Studio. It's a mouthful, yes.
SPEAKER_09But you know what? In post-production, they're gonna have that across the screen beautifully. So it's okay. So tell me a little bit about it and the different things that you guys have.
SPEAKER_07So they we have three century deprivation tanks, and so they're actually cabin suites, they're not the pods where you have to close it. So you actually get to walk into a tub, it's 200 gallons and it's a thousand pounds of magnesium. So you just float effortlessly. But what it does is that it's magnesium, which is a nerve mineral, and it helps your body relieve stress, pain, anything like emotions that doesn't serve you, kind of just kind of washes away. Yeah. Um, but then we also have a couple ladies on that do practice Reiki, they're Reiki masters, and then we have dandy apothecaries, so we have herbal elixir, we have teas and complimentary tea too, so that when you can come in, you can enjoy and so it's very everything about it is very holistic. It is very holistic, it's practical healing.
SPEAKER_09So let's go before we talk more about this, let's go backwards. You tell me a little bit about you, where you're from, and then kind of what got you into a natural pathic or holistic way of living.
SPEAKER_07So I'm actually an army wife. My d husband is here, we're here off of uh drill orders. So uh I actually was introduced to this in 2021 and it was my I'm a type one diabetic, and so that's kind of what catapulted me into the natural world because doctors uh they don't know all the things that you can do to really help. And so when I was introduced to it, uh it I realized how much it helped me with my sugars, um, helped me with my cardiovascular health, and I was happier. Yeah, and it just was an all-encompassing health and holistic ritual. So it just something that I just kept on and it became a dream of mine to have my own, and then now here I am.
SPEAKER_09Was it specific that you wanted this or was it like a goal? Like you wanted to have your own business. Okay, yeah, and and for this specifically, yes.
SPEAKER_07So I wanted to have a float and uh sauna studio. Yeah. So when I was doing my business plan, I realized that there was something that was here, and so when they closed the doors, I kind of stepped in, and that's all she wrote.
SPEAKER_09And this is it's so I'm lucky in in my entrepreneurial journey, however you say it. I I have not done brick and mortar, so I haven't had that high crazy rent, any of that kind of stuff. So you've really, really jumped out there on the line, and it looks like you are already gaining a lot of notoriety in our city, and people are getting to know you and coming and just showing up. So, what does that look like for you? How do you see your growth happening here?
SPEAKER_07Well, the growth has been exponential just in the last month. Yeah. Um, really, as soon as a friend of mine, Cherie, came on, it was just like everything just kept exploding. Uh, she was introducing me, she was helping with my social media, and so with that the relationships kept coming, and now I'm starting to get out there. I'm new to the community. Yeah. So being able to be in the right room with the right people has helped with my growth. So I have people that are interested in helping me with the further growth. And so uh really the sky's the limit. We have so many things for store in the future.
SPEAKER_09So, okay, now Sheree, does she do so?
SPEAKER_07She is a social media manager, does she manage other people, or is she kind of just literally she has her own thing going on, she is very, very unique in what she does. So pretty much she took what I didn't know was there, and she pretty much extracted that essence out of me to help build my brand and to help build the awareness and help make solace, which you all see today.
SPEAKER_09Yeah. Hey, you guys, actually, I know her too, and now that she's said this, I think I might have to talk to her about reach out to them. So how what has been the most beneficial thing for you in in like a holistic journey that you've taken?
SPEAKER_07Really, it's um being able to have practical tools for me and my family and not being dependent on the Western healthcare system that really isn't conducive to whole body healing. And that's including energetic healing, which studies are done by the way. Um I very much it's grounded in science. So everything I do, there is scientific evidence to support what I am doing right now.
SPEAKER_09So um, yeah, it's so it's true health care because people like to say that health care is not truly health care, it's sick care.
SPEAKER_07It's pretty much, yeah. So we're pretty much what they say is uh a patient cured is a patient lost. Well, we're gonna help them lose some of those patients.
SPEAKER_09Oh no, medical community. So what's your next step, or like what's something that everybody needs to know about?
SPEAKER_07Well, we're actually doing a thing where we're working on making each room its own personality. I love this. So giving its own character, so whether it's like celestial or like the grove, very foresty, or like lake vibes. So each room will have its own, so that is something that we're in the works. Uh we have other things that we have going on at different events and people coming on, and so I'm very excited to see what's in the future.
SPEAKER_09So people just probably need to watch the social media or something, right?
SPEAKER_07Yes, and but I'm also getting out there with magazines and with you. So yeah, it's it's getting out there.
SPEAKER_09Y'all follow this journey.
SPEAKER_07You'll start seeing me everywhere.
SPEAKER_09Follow this journey. And we have like 30-ish seconds left. I want to ask this just real quick because people forget that people that look like you are even diabetic. Well, how old were you when you found that out? And what would you like to say to, is there anything you'd like to say to that community about you know keeping their health in check?
SPEAKER_07So I w it was until I was like 25 when I found out, but um, that the this right here is a great way to help control your blood sugars. There are natural ways to get your body back into balance to where your body can do what it's supposed to do.
SPEAKER_09Sweet. Thank you so much for having me. And up next, I'm gonna have one of the I don't know if I'm saying this correctly, but I'm gonna have one of those Reiki specialists so I can learn more about the practice. See you after these messages. Get it back!

SPEAKER_09Welcome back, everybody. I am really excited about this segment because I don't really know anything about Reiki. But Miss Leana Hayes is gonna learn me some things. So thank you so much for being here. Thanks for having me. And are you any relation to the Hayes that I met with earlier?
SPEAKER_06I'm not. It's crazy. I mean, it's both our married names. So yeah.
unknownI knew that already.
SPEAKER_09So come on, tell me about Reiki. What is it? Where'd it come from? All that jazz.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, so Reiki is a Japanese term. It means universal life force. And basically it helps to reset the normal energy field of the body. It brings it down into rest and digest so that the body can heal.
SPEAKER_09Okay. So how do you actually accomplish that?
SPEAKER_06The laying on of hands. Okay. That's it. So people come to the center, they lay on my massage table, fully clothed, comfortable clothing, obviously, and I just pour into them.
SPEAKER_09Okay. And so I've been told that as you do this and the more you do it, you can literally feel like I want to say the force feel. What do you feel? Like what does it feel like to you when you're doing it? Um to me or to the or on your side of it.
SPEAKER_06So for me, it feels warm. You can feel energy moving. Sometimes you'll have emotions that come up because emotions get trapped in the body, and that's actually what makes us sick or chronic pain. And so when we move that energy, some of that stuff comes up and it feels like an emotional release.
SPEAKER_09Really?
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_09You feel their emotion. I do. Wow. So did you believe because there are gonna be naysayers out there because it's not typical medicine. What do you say to them if they don't believe that something's really happening there?
SPEAKER_06It's a process, and it's kind of something that you can't really understand until you experience it. Some people will call it a placebo effect, but studies have shown that placebos work. Yeah, true. You know? And Fort Belvoir and Walter Reed hospitals are big military hospitals, they've had Reiki programs since 2009, and you know the military does the military doesn't do anything, they don't have a leave ed.
SPEAKER_09Yeah.
SPEAKER_06So I mean, this is there are so many studies about the power of it. And I I mean I use it to heal myself. I use it to heal my kids. They've got fevers, anything like that.
SPEAKER_09Like it knocks it off. So you can actually perform it on yourself as well?
SPEAKER_06I do every day.
SPEAKER_09Does it um does is there a different benefit whenever you use someone else to perform that on you, or is it the same thing?
SPEAKER_06Yes. So when we have someone else there to hold the space, you know, for the truth of who we really are outside of who we believe ourselves to be. Someone who knows our wholeness. Like it helps us elevate to that knowing. So if I'm being worked on and someone else's shit is knowing my wholeness, it helps me trust that to let go.
SPEAKER_09I love that just made me a little bit emotional the way they even explain that.
SPEAKER_06And it is. This is where science meets spirit.
SPEAKER_09So what uh tell me your story. Where are you from? What were you like growing up? And then what brought you to this?
SPEAKER_06I am from Columbus, Georgia. Oh, okay. Yeah, we moved back when I was six, and I've been gone since 2014 because I was in the military. So I'm a prior service Air Force nurse. And I just moved back here in February of this year. So yeah, I've been gone for a while, but I went and I healed and I did all the things, and I'm coming back, you know, to help the community. And growing up here was interesting. I am mixed, black and white, so I experienced this separation, you know, that existed then, and there was a lot I had to heal from that, and I did. So I'm happy to be back sharing this.
SPEAKER_09How do you think that this could change a community if it were really just uh supported on a big big community scale?
SPEAKER_06So this is the thing. So the military is so like Fort Benning, they had a Reiki practitioner, but they don't now because the community isn't really involved. And so they kind of follow what the community does. So I am reaching out to other polit like well wellness centers that don't have energy healing on board saying, Hey, let's get this into the community so that it becomes more well known and not so taboo, you know, and then allowing that to come onto the military base so that our soldiers, you know, that are fighting to protect us have an alternative wellness offering.
SPEAKER_09Are there people that come in to see you and just their presence you can feel in our our uh negativity or just bad vibes or whatever, just reeking off of them? I don't know that the talk.
SPEAKER_06Of course. Of course. But we meet everyone where they are.
SPEAKER_09Okay. So um that's something I'll listen to. I listen to um a lot of motivational podcasts, and they talk about how a lot of people won't believe that you can truly feel someone's energy. But if you walk onto an elevator and a couple were just fighting, you're gonna feel that whenever you walk into it.
SPEAKER_06It is palpable, that is the tension. But when we don't practice trusting that, yeah, it's easy to just say no, I can't. And really learning to trust yourself is all about becoming a Reiki practitioner. So my goal is to host classes to open other people's hands up so that they can start doing this work on themselves every day because it is a practice.
SPEAKER_09I would be so down to learn some of it, and me and my cubs could have like ramen and reiki nights. That would be so fun.
unknownWe could do it.
SPEAKER_01Let's go.
SPEAKER_09We're gonna we're gonna do it. Um, so in my last segment, I dedicate how people talk about uh health care isn't health care, it's sick care. You're a nurse and you've done this. Do you agree with that statement?
SPEAKER_06I think that the medical profession has its place.
SPEAKER_09Yes.
SPEAKER_06Okay, because not everybody is ready for the spiritual side, or they need both in tandem, right? But uh yes, I would agree that we are mind, body, and soul. So we can't just treat ourselves as physical beings. We have to, in order to heal, we have to treat all facets.
SPEAKER_09Agreed, agreed. So um, and I've known plenty of people that have gone through, you know, major sicknesses, and it's always don't look into the negative stuff connected to what you have going on. Try to stay as positive as you can, meditate, pray. This goes right along with that. So I'm excited to have met you. I can't wait to learn more. I'm gonna come check you out.
SPEAKER_06I'd love to have you.
SPEAKER_09Do you have any last message or any way that you want people to know that they could get in touch with you and learn more about this?
SPEAKER_06Yeah, so we're located at 1511th Street, 11th and Broadway, across from Iron Bank. It's a beautiful spa setting, totally luxurious, and you can go online to our website at shadesofhealingga.com.
SPEAKER_09All right, you guys, until next time. This was Raven in Real Life.

SPEAKER_00My name is Delbert Bland, and we're in the middle of a Vodaya sweet onion field. There used to be a Pika Wicka warehouse in Vodaya, and they were buying local produce, and when they delivered them, they called them Pigwick onions, and everybody got frying them and said, geez, these onions are great. Where'd they come from? But this guy would eventually say, Wow, the truck came out of Vandaya. I don't know where the onions are from. So Vidaya stuck. This is where we grew up, and this is where we make our life. And big wiggles is part of it.
SPEAKER_03Don't miss Columbus United's home opener, May 16th at the AJ McClung Memorial Stadium. Season seats are only $100 for adults and $80 for you, and includes a free Columbus United jersey, a $75 value. Visit Columbus United FC.com to purchase your tickets today.
