On this week’s episode of the USAFBL Fingerboard Podcast, we sit down with a very special guest, Anthony Perez of Lost inTransition Fingerboards. We dive into team culture, what it really means to support riders, and how Anthony is one of the few brand owners who actually backs his crew at events across the country. We talk about his journey from early shop-class boards, to rediscovering fingerboarding in 2020, to building a family-powered deck company with graphics, craftsmanship, and community at the core. We dig into his product catalog, shapes, kicks, and what inspires his designs. And of course, we talk Nationals weekend, sending riders to Germany, and the future of the scene.
If you enjoy the show, please like, follow, and share!
If you haven’t been keeping track, we have weekly episodes! Audio versions out on Wednesday and video version out on Thursdays!

Welcome to USA FBL Fingerboard Podcast. I'm your host, Levine Cunningham. Today I've got Anthony Perez, Boston Transition Fingerboards. Anthony, welcome to the pod.
Thank you, thanks for having me, appreciate it.
Definitely. So we are live here at Indianapolis, Indiana, the national event. Saturday, doors haven't opened yet. So we got a lot of stuff happening today, babe. We are regionals leading here to Indianapolis. And then we are sending three winners to Germany taking all this stuff in like there's a lot going on today. Yeah.
the
kind of want to talk about that because I've been looking at the stories I've been seeing the for a team like you've got team writers but like you're one of the few people that are like legitimately like backing your writers and sending them to events and contests and really like doing the whole team manager like thing to like the fullest.
Speaker 2 (01:14.542)
Yeah, I try to keep it pretty loose, just fun. I do it because I love doing it. I don't do it pay my bills. That's what I tell everybody. Everything with fingerboarding goes back into fingerboarding, anything I make. I talked to my wife before all this, and she was like, we should just send him. Let's send Justin to Nationals. He got second in Portland, and this is what you do. And just go with him. And I was like, really? She's like, yes, go with him. Have fun. I was like, all right, let's do it. And we've always supported him.
He's a good guy. He shows up at all the events. He brings his parks, all the local stuff. He always shows up. So the least I could do is get him here.
it. Alright, so you are located in the Pacific North.
West? Yeah, I'm all the way out west. Port Angeles, Washington. That's where I'm at. Right across from Canada. We have a ferry that goes between.
She had a little drive to get to Portland that are a rent then.
Speaker 2 (02:03.084)
the
Yeah, that's dedication. love it.
Yeah, I'm hoping to bring the scene local at some point, but I need to get some parts before I do that. I'm just going do some meetups and stuff like that at first, but I don't want to just jump in and all at once. Got to try to build it.
that that

You're one of the few people that are actually older than
Speaker 2 (03:27.086)
the all my rolled ankles all that kind of stuff I was always finger boarding I think my first board I had was in shop class I made one with pencils on the bottom and just you know
those no nothing rolled it was just ticky tacky on the desk you know yeah yeah and then tech decks after that I would mod out myself with you know a lighter and clamps trying to shape them give them more concave so I got some of those hanging around but yeah I just picked it back up when everything kind of fell apart in 2020 I guess 2019 when everything got weird yeah and I was just at home a lot and I was like wow so finger boarding's like like a real thing now
like I just kind of fell off and didn't pay attention. And was like, I think I need to do this again. So I didn't know what to get. So I got a P-Rep October 2020, just as like a starter board. And then I just kind of rabbit-holed from there and realized how deep I could get with the quality. And then I realized I could make it myself and make what I want, know, with graphics, all that kind of stuff. And my buddy Larry White, does a lot of the graphics for me, which is pretty cool. He lets me use all of his artwork.
ripping skateboarder, good guy all around. So I get to use his stuff and he's actually going be doing a skateboard brand I think soon hopefully.
the
Speaker 2 (04:58.742)
Yeah, and we try to do everything in-house. My wife got to give a shout out to her. She supports me, like I said. She said, just go have fun. She makes all my labels, all my stickers. She made that keychain that hooked you up with. Anything that we make at home besides the boards, she's backing it. Nice, nice. So yeah, she's awesome. out to Mandy and my daughter, Ellie. She's cool. She some art for me too. It's a family thing. That's we do. We love it, man. It feels really good to be part of the community and you know, that's great.
That's a lot
Speaker 1 (05:28.536)
so you basically kind of got into making decks, was it because you couldn't find the shape and the sizes that you're wanting that kind of suited your style or?
I mean when you skateboard your whole life like as a kid you're just like yeah I want like a skate shop or you know you want to be like that that and like just not always realistic it's like almost like You're always just kind of trying to break even I'm never gonna like really be above water on this probably just because I do it because I love doing it Yeah, but I just wanted to be I realized how much I actually loved fingerboarding it helps my skateboard brain like stay active and I was like I just want to be more involved and give back
and if I'm a creator, can sponsor, give back. I mean, you could have a garage event with five guys. If you hit me up, I'm probably going to sponsor you. You know what I mean? Give me a shout out. I'll send you a couple boards.
like it walk people through like the catalog of what you carry so I know you do decks you get into other different things like kind of tell us what was in transitions is all about what you got going on
Well, it's mainly decks. That's like my bread and butter. know, it's like I do boards. It's what I love to do. You know, it's like my therapy when I'm at home just chilling, shaving boards out, you know. Usually you ate at a time. Sometimes I got like 40, 50 boards in rotation just because I'm like, I gotta stop. It's too many. You know, but I sell hex trucks now, you know, just basic wheels. Haven't dove into making those yet just because I don't want to dive into another.
Speaker 1 (07:18.862)
the the
I 32s, 34 and 36. I do a medium kick and a high kick. I prefer the high kick myself, but I find that if you're not comfortable fingerboarding yet, high kick can be too much. You know, it's just too out of control. In my experience, I do like a medium kick. fun. There's not really any shape I don't like. I'm just used to what I'm used to. So like my main setup is a 96 length, 56.5 wheelbase, high kick.
the
the
the
Speaker 2 (08:34.424)
the that
that's like his go-to. I just kind of hook him up randomly with packages whenever if he needs more I just give it to him or I'll just send him stuff like we keep it pretty loose but I always just hook everybody up pretty much.
Is it just the two team riders?
the
Thanks.
Speaker 2 (09:50.414)
the
You have any future projects, you want to leak on the pod?
Speaker 2 (11:00.806)
There were some doubters at first on the interwebs, know, kind of, they always like to talk like, who's this guy, whatever, they're trash, you know, and I'm just like, well, I'm in it to be in it, so that's fine. I'm not going to take any offense, you know, I'll just keep making them and you like them or you don't, that's cool. Either way.
Speaker 2 (11:27.864)
the
Speaker 2 (11:41.358)
Anyway, I never will. Yeah, no, we do it because we love it. So yeah, that's all I can do is just keep making, try to get better. I take a lot of pride in what I do, put a lot of love into it. So a lot of people seem to see that when I come to these events, they like to see the graphics and you know, it's kind of as close to skateboarding as I can get with my brain. So I think it helps.
Speaker 2 (12:35.72)
the
Speaker 2 (12:41.838)
I'm hoping I can do good today if I make it in. I don't know if there's a spot for me. We'll see. We'll see
