speaker-1 (01:38)
⁓
I'm guaranteeing a lot of the people listening is not gonna get that joke, but hey, we're here for it.

speaker-1 (02:49)
Hey, I'll sign in if y'all need it. Hey, I'm just gonna say that's kind of impressive. You just spitballed like a hundred and twenty seconds there with like out even taking a breath.
speaker-0 (02:57)
Good, I'm good. Hundred and seventy one episodes in. I feel like ⁓ I feel like LeBron. I'm getting real good at my old age at this for sure.
speaker-1 (03:04)
I did notice I wanna point something out. ⁓ I'm gonna throw you on the spot here. I noticed that your teeth is looking pretty good.
speaker-0 (03:10)
My teeth are looking good. All right. So someone called me out on that about my braces and ⁓ I like the roast. I like the roast. It was part of the King of the Plies challenges. I was actually a little disappointed I wasn't roasted harder. I thought that
speaker-1 (03:24)
The
reason why I look at your teeth there. They were talking about your teeth and I had to check them out. And I'm like, you know, they're really not that bad. I remember when they were like going different directions and now they're like spot on. I'm kinda jealous.
speaker-0 (03:33)
Man, they were going crazy three years ago plus like it was it was a real issue for sure. I'm so handling it. Anyways, love the roast. I'm ⁓ we should definitely get like Jeff Ross involved on the next one for sure. Make it like a make it a thing. We could make it a thing. We could definitely make it a thing. Man, all right, a couple weeks ago, just got back from the grind fingerboard chicken fingers event, a sanctioned event. Great turnout, great vibes.
speaker-1 (03:47)
Let's make it a thing.
speaker-0 (03:58)
Overall, amazing event. We've got several sanctioned events coming up your way, but the next like four events that are coming up pretty quick, you should keep your eyes out on. June 27th, we've got West Babylon, New York with Cool Bree Skate Shop. We've got Elegatron Filtered out of Houston, Texas. Both of those events are going to be on June 27th. They're sanctioned events. Go support your local
Event host, go fingerboard, meet some people, cash in on some cool stuff, get some stats, get some medals, go do all the stuffs. July 11th, we got two events: phonyhawk.fb out of Traverse Michigan, Cherry Jam. We've got Father Escape Shop as well out of Houston, Texas. Both of those will be sanctioned events. Go support your local event host, show up, support, grab some raffle tickets, sell some stuff, buy some stuff, meet some people, shred some stuff, get some medals, get some rankings. Let's do it.
speaker-1 (04:48)
It's Father's Skate supply by the way. Nice father skate shop. Which has a nice ring to it too.
speaker-0 (04:50)
Did I not say father's gate supply?
man I said it flawlessly.
I'm just excited. You know where we're at right now when this episode comes out? We're gonna be in Germany, that European air hitting us in the face as we're just gallopanting through Germany and hitting all the spots and getting ready for fast fingers this weekend.
speaker-1 (05:02)
yeah, we're gonna be in ⁓ Deutschland.
I guess we'll to listen to this podcast episode in the rental car. On the Autobahn. That's your challenge. Can you go two hundred miles per hour and whatever it is in kilometers while listening to this episode?
speaker-0 (05:23)
Hanging out at some minute fall session. Let's do it. We should definitely do a Germany version of this.
speaker-1 (05:25)
Yeah, it was good.
Okay, I'm I'm one hundred percent down.
speaker-0 (05:32)
Hey,
I think that would be fun. That'd be fun as hell. We gotta get back into this. We gotta get back into this. I know everybody's like, dude, just tell us who won.
speaker-1 (05:39)
We're dragging it on a purpose, guys. We're kinda like building up anticipation. So don't skip to the forward, to the end, from the back. You know what we're saying. So just hang in there. Do
speaker-0 (05:48)
Man.
But yeah, we got fast fingers this weekend. Sanction events coming up. There's every single fingerboarding event on the planet. You can actually find that in one spot at pliesmag.com underneath the event tab. We made it super easy for you guys to get connected to your local community. All right, let's get into King of the Plies. Let's get into it.
speaker-1 (06:04)
What wait, hold on, hold on. What is King of the Plies? I've never heard of that term before. Who is it? What is it? What's it about?
speaker-0 (06:09)
Yeah, I mean if you don't know what King of the Plies is at this point, I feel like you're living under the rock, but it is the largest multi-city outdoor street fingerboarding team event. It is a video submission contest. So this year we got eight teams representing eight different cities, and one representing a whole entire island, but we'll get into that real quick.
speaker-1 (06:28)
I'm just gonna go ahead and throw this out there. Every year it feels like the video editing and just like the vibe of the videos get better.
speaker-0 (06:35)
Bar for sure has definitely been lifted. Every single year they get better and better. We're getting to a point now where some of these like submissions are like film festival, like Sundance Film Festival quality like submissions at this point. Like I feel like three or four years from now, like we'll have like Steven Spielberg like film edits coming out of these like contests and stuff for sure.
speaker-1 (06:58)
Can you imagine a fingerboard team hiring a movie director to make this edit later on? That would be crazy.
speaker-0 (07:04)
I feel like naturally like we're progressing, like fingerboarding itself is progressing so fast. I feel like fingerboarding editing skills is getting to that point as well. I feel like fingerboarding edits have evolved so crazy. You look at like the edits that are coming out of today in 2026 versus like 2020 or even 2010. Like you will just see the progression. You'd be like, Yeah, it's definitely getting there.
speaker-1 (07:26)
Well you gotta think a lot of these people, they've never had a opportunity to edit and post stuff like they're doing now. Like five or six years ago when you got like a thirty, forty second clip on Instagram that's just kinda like filmed whatever, like and now we're giving people excuses to use legit cameras, legit editing equipment, the whole nine yards and like that's like a first for a lot of people. Not everybody's got like a background in video editing, hey, here we are now.
speaker-0 (07:48)
That's what I'm saying. Everybody's getting their PhD in the streets and I like it. I like it. All right. So this year we've got we got some tats that got done this year. So what? A tech tech dude?
speaker-1 (07:58)
We had more cats this year or last year? Last year, yeah, yeah.
speaker-0 (08:01)
Last year for sure. I
felt like there was at least a dozen. But yeah, we got like a tech deck dude got tatted this year, skate station logo got tatted this year, a tech tech fingerboarding tool got tatted this year, and an attire lit fingerboard got tatted this year as well, was kind of crazy. So a lot of fingerboard tats getting done this year. We also had some
speaker-1 (08:21)
What was your favorite one? Let me throw you in the spire. What was your favorite one? Was it the Tec Tik dude?
speaker-0 (08:26)
I a tech type dude.
speaker-1 (08:27)
Mine was either the Tech they're all great, but either the Tech Tech dude or the the fingerboard toll. One of those two.
speaker-0 (08:34)
What is there a red tool? Was there ever like a red tool produced? Because I thought they were all like ⁓ yellow or black. So I saw the red and I was like, maybe he knows ball. Maybe he knows more than like I know. I'm like, is there a secret tool out there?
speaker-1 (08:46)
I mean
maybe he was adding his own stamp on it.
speaker-0 (08:49)
I mean he could have. I mean artists. That's what I'm saying. I thought maybe there was a secret red tool floating around out there that I didn't know about. So like let me know in the comments. Yeah. Yeah. We're gonna have to definitely tap in on that tool tattoo and just be like, dude, what's up with that? What's up with the red? Let me know. I love it.
speaker-1 (09:05)
Why
you're saying this you still haven't got a tattoo yet, so what's
speaker-0 (09:08)
The tool one I kinda like. I'm thinking about doing like ⁓ I don't know if I'm gonna go with like an original like Dragon Ball Z tat or if I'm gonna do a fingerboarding tat, but I'm feeling like I'm feeling frisky going into Germany.
speaker-1 (09:18)
I think you need to do like a fingerboarding tat. You can't have like the largest fingerboard podcast that's not represent with a tattoo, you know?
speaker-0 (09:24)
Okay, I could put the logo right on the chest.
speaker-1 (09:27)
Don't be a P U S one.
speaker-0 (09:31)
Calling me out. I love it. Man. Anyway, we also got two teams that completed the breast cancer awareness challenge. So we are going to stay true to our word. We're going to be donating $50 to every for every time that challenge has been completed has been completed twice. So we're going to be donating $100 to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, the BCRF. So we're going to be doing that here when we get back from Germany.
And we're going to ⁓ revisit this coming into October for breast cancer awareness as well. I feel like we need to be doing more. For sure. Especially you, Gary. You be doing stuff all over the things.
speaker-1 (10:08)
But I g look, I've gotta kinda like chill with posting that kind stuff on Instagram 'cause my stuff can't support it all the time. As of right now I've got a ban, I can't go live on Instagram until March of next year from me doing violations, which it's not really even violent, it's just like, you know, somebody might get offended here and there. But ⁓ so I'm just trying to chill out on that.
speaker-0 (10:25)
That's crazy. So the reason why you're not going live, if anybody's wondering, I didn't even know. So that's kind of crazy to me. So next year, that saddens me. That saddens the hell out of me.
speaker-1 (10:28)
Yeah, I know.
But hey, I got a backup YouTube or Instagram account. That's why that's our main reason why we started a new Instagram account or split one with me and Sam is so we can kinda get away with posting whatever.
speaker-0 (10:46)
Gotta work around. All right, well, we're back in. All right, so we started off with eight teams at the beginning of the contest. We've got Team Skate Station out of Leighton, Utah, Fathers Texas Ranger Division out of Houston, Texas, Sare out of Vizalayam, California, Lost in Transition out of Olympia, Washington, Social Fingerboarding Club out of Greensboro, North Carolina, Team Grindhouse out of Oxford, Alabama, Team 100 by 35 out of the island of Puerto Rico, Salty Seaman out of Shelton, Washington.
That's your 2026 lineup. But we had a little bit of drama. We had two teams with some real heavy conflicting work schedules and they were not able to get their submissions in on time. Team sorry, team grindhouse won't be participating in the video submission contest as ⁓ this week progresses. But if you guys are wondering where to find those submissions, they are live on the USAFBL.
YouTube channel. There's a 2026 playlist. If you want to see the 2025 and 2024 playlist, they are there as well. You can see all of the submissions from you season one all the way to season three of King of the Plies. So see the progression of how everything has come through tuition. So I'm excited for you guys for sure.
speaker-1 (11:56)
And I think we still need to make a D V D version of this and sell it.
speaker-0 (11:59)
I still think we need to do something like that with all the behind the scenes stuff, get all the all the extra footy and all that stuff. I feel like it's that's gonna be cool.
speaker-1 (12:06)
That's an inside joke, cause LeVont's a money grabbing whore. ⁓
speaker-0 (12:08)
⁓
called out again. Man, I was talking about adding like a director's cut and all kinds of stuff, but I guess I guess so. Maybe but maybe we don't. But it's all online for
speaker-1 (12:22)
Maybe
we'll do it for free. Jeex.
speaker-0 (12:25)
⁓ man.
speaker-1 (12:27)
So let me let me ask you, how hard was it like how is this judged, but how hard was it to judge it this year? Because that was crazy.
speaker-0 (12:33)
The judging on this is so hard. We drop everything we drop everything down into different categories, different segments, because fingerboarding is art, art is also art, film is also art. So it's very subjective, but we drop it all into different categories so that it's got a real chance of being dissected and judged fairly, not as a whole edit, but like individual pieces being contributed together. So to clarify how everything is judged. Yeah.
speaker-1 (13:03)
think that's pretty good. for people that don't know, we have ⁓ Levine brought in a whole crew of people, whether it's like skateboarders, fingerboarders, or like just people that don't do either one, just to kind of look at it from every single angle. So I think it's pretty good how you had the judges lined up.
speaker-0 (13:17)
Yeah, we've got a really great per panel of judges this year. We had a great panel of judges last year and stuff as well. So the judging, it goes off of we have seven judges. We've got Chevrono, stovetop.fb, teak tuning, James.fb, Gary Grace twenty-two, Sam Miller sixty nine, and of course Levine Cunningham. We've got seven judges. Each judge is a contributing a hundred points on each submission. So there's gonna be a total of
Seven hundred points that each submission can achieve if they got a perfect score. So it's gonna be an accumulation of points across all seven judges. The team with the most points will be the winner, the team with the second most points will be second place, then third place, and so on and so on and so on. So that is how the judging is done.
speaker-1 (14:05)
think is you've got it narrowed down to like a pre flawless system. Like there's no error that hey, this one should have got more than this one. If everybody can, you know, put in their score, like it's impossible to get it wrong. For the people for the people that was complaining last year, that's the only reason I'm saying this.
speaker-0 (14:15)
Numbers don't lie.
Now the numbers don't lie, but it's definitely judged very fairly, no biased. I'm excited to get into this. I'm excited to get all of these prize packs out, all of this cash out, the
speaker-1 (14:31)
What all was the prizes and like what was at stake this year?
speaker-0 (14:34)
Man, all right, so we've got fifth place, we'll get two sponsor packs, fourth place, two sponsor packs, third place, $100 cash, two sponsor packs, medals, and a USAFBL sponsor pack. Second place, $200 cash, two sponsor packs, medals and a USAFBL sponsor pack. First place, grand prize, $1,500 cash medals, the traveling duck middle finger trophy.
A cover on the Plies magazine with a supporting article and a USAPL sponsor pack.
speaker-1 (15:07)
And I wanna see a gnarly edit on the the middle finger duck for the winner team, you know, like keep tradition going. We
speaker-0 (15:13)
Yeah.
They crest the hell out of that.
speaker-1 (15:17)
Did last year's winner do that?
speaker-0 (15:18)
Loop? I'm not sure. I want to say if they did, they didn't make an edit. So we gotta we gotta continue on the tradition for sure. We got all kinds of stuff. Let's get into it. Let's get into it. Cause right now, right here on the pod, you're about to hear it and see it here first.
speaker-1 (15:37)
Second and third and fourth and fifth and sixth.
speaker-0 (15:40)
All the way down to eighth place. All the way down to eighth place. All right. So eighth place with the DNF did not finish. Team Grindhouse. They had a bunch of work schedule conflictions and couldn't get it in. I'm hoping next year they're going to come back strong. Seventh place, same as well with a DNF, did not finish. That's gonna be Team Sorry. They also had a bunch of work schedule conflictions as well. Couldn't get that submission in. So we're getting into sixth place.
390.3 points out of 700 is going to be Team Fathers.
speaker-1 (16:17)
Baked Alaskan boards.
speaker-0 (16:22)
Nossa!
Did you get that?
Team Fathers coming in the sixth, coming in with that video submission. Team Fathers.
speaker-1 (16:39)
I
wanna say that like I love the intro on that. The King of the Hills, where it like sped up and slowed down and sped up, kinda like the the show.
speaker-0 (16:46)
The nostalgia of that was perfect. It's definitely set the vibes coming in right out the gate. All right, coming in at fifth place, video submission with four hundred and fifty-five point two points out of seven hundred. It's gonna be team.
Social Finger Boarding Club
speaker-1 (17:10)
Mm.
speaker-0 (17:11)
You're sure you don't want any store credit.
speaker-1 (17:13)
Yes,
I'm sure.
speaker-0 (17:18)
The anticipation. The anticipation.
speaker-1 (17:21)
I even know what order these are going in and then you sit there and drag it on and I like I can feel my anxiety swelling up. I'm Say it, say
speaker-0 (17:27)
Say it.
Say it. Man, I love the is it like Gen Alpha with all the all the all the memes and all that stuff? Man
speaker-1 (17:38)
You're aging yourself you're you're aging yourself when you say a team alpha or whatever gen alpha.
speaker-0 (17:44)
Is it? I don't know. I love it. I loved it. I loved the ⁓ the sunroof stuff. I love the storytelling, a little bit of the showcasing for Greensboro, North Carolina. They put together a real fire edit. Definitely go check it out at US F L on the
speaker-1 (17:57)
It's
a fun watch from start to finish. I loved it.
speaker-0 (18:00)
It was, it was. Ain't he got into it? Did they? They did. They did, yeah. Mm-hmm. They definitely did. I hope they let them know that like we're donating money for that cause. Man, all right, let's get back into this. We've got fourth place, five hundred and seven point one points out of seven hundred. And actually, this is where all of the video submissions really kind of get close together in judging. Like it could have went either which way. But we're gonna have to get fourth to
speaker-1 (18:02)
Some titties in there.
speaker-0 (18:29)
Team.
Salty Seamen.
speaker-1 (18:44)
Mm. I will say they came back with vengeance this year. They got last year they ⁓ didn't get their in on time. Am I correct on that?
speaker-0 (18:51)
Yeah, they didn't get theirs in on time last year and their submission last year arguably probably could have won last year. So we kind of went in this year with high hopes for Team Salty. I was hoping that they would have gotten a little bit higher up on the roster for sure, but their edit, their storytelling, the showcasing of their city and all that, man, the vibes, immaculate.
speaker-1 (19:11)
Bro, homeboy got kicked to the nuts, launch out of a shopping cart. Dude, he took the thing between his fingers, cut his finger, then poured salt on his blood and took a licked it and took a shot. Gnarly. That's what I was wanting to see.
speaker-0 (19:23)
⁓
all right, so that's gonna be Instagram handle S underscore man underscore nineteen ninety. I mean he's a he's a soldier man, or he could be the minion, I don't know.
speaker-1 (19:34)
Give me that one more time, I'm gonna give him a follow right now.
speaker-0 (19:37)
S underscore man underscore nineteen ninety. He literally took all the hits. He took literally all of the hits. The shopping cart, the kick to the groin, the paper cuts. Real soldier right there.
speaker-1 (19:48)
I gave him a polo. Hell yeah.
speaker-0 (19:50)
Hell yeah. All right. Definitely go check that video out if you guys have not checked it out already. Man, all right, getting to third place. This is where we're getting into $100 cash, two sponsor packs, medals, and a USA FBL sponsor pack to boot. 548.2 points out of 700.
speaker-1 (20:12)
Before
you before you announce this, I swear you could take this the top three and jumble up and anyone could have gotten any place here. So it's like the judging was strictly like it was so hard on these.
speaker-0 (20:25)
For reference, third place is 548.2. Second place is 554.3. We're talking like five-point difference across 700 possible points across seven judges. Like five-point difference between second and third place. Like that is extremely close. But without further ado, 548.2 points out of 700, third place submission is gonna go to team.
Gate station
speaker-1 (21:10)
⁓ Bro, I love this video from start to finish. This is a great video.
speaker-0 (21:15)
No, facts. The fingerboarding, all the spots, the city showcase, the vibes.
speaker-1 (21:21)
The the team vibe was immaculate there. Like they were having so much fun. I don't know, it makes me want to go out there and just hang out with those guys.
speaker-0 (21:27)
No, facts. I actually ⁓ stopped by on our way out to Portland on regionals and I got to swing by the shop and all that stuff and all these cool cats, man.
speaker-1 (21:34)
We'll say
out of all like their like nature section in this one was like the best out of all of Like they went out and had dude, I I'm hanging out with these guys. Guys, I'm gonna see y'all soon.
speaker-0 (21:47)
Gary's gonna make a trip back out. I'm definitely gonna have to make a trip back out as well. I didn't get a chance to stay in the area long enough, more than just the day. So definitely gonna have to stay back. Their video submission was so good that it's making me want to make it a tourist destination for sure. ⁓ Congrats. Positive spirits, super hopeful. I know they're going out to Fast Fingers this weekend, so we'll get to see them as well live and in person. So kind of excited about that. But yeah, team skate, man.
speaker-1 (22:02)
yeah. Number three there.
Team would be there.
speaker-0 (22:15)
⁓ I know like Dude Guy and Ethan, I believe, are gonna be there for sure. Awesome. I think they've got all kinds of stuff planned for the Fast Fingers event and all that. So I'm excited to see what all happens there. I'm stoked for the team. Got third place, stamping their ⁓ their submission into the Hall of Fame for sure.
speaker-1 (22:35)
You get anxious for the an answer in the final two?
speaker-0 (22:37)
I'm getting anxious. All right. Let's talk about second place. Second place. $200 cash, two sponsor packs, medals, and a USAFBL sponsor pack. 554.3 points out of 700. Second place. We're gonna give this to team.
speaker-1 (22:58)
Any guesses? Any last minute guesses? Who do you guys think it is?
speaker-0 (23:01)
I'm gonna have to tell him. I'm gonna have to tell him. This is gonna go to team 100 by 35 representing the island of Puerto Rico. All right, so I'm here live with team one hundred by thirty-five. What is up, fellas? From Puerto Rico.
speaker-1 (23:19)
Excited.
Siempre treinta y cinco en la casa.
speaker-0 (23:28)
Right on. All right. So I know what 100 by 35 is because you guys explained it to me, but I'm sure our viewers and the people that have been following you guys might not know. Tell me what a hundred by thirty-five is.
speaker-1 (23:38)
Chief, come on, you gotta say, five meters. Is the is the dimensions of the island.
speaker-0 (23:43)
So this is actually a first because usually we we do it by city, but you guys took over the entire island. And I I kinda like that. I kinda like that.
speaker-1 (23:51)
Yeah,
we're sure we're smaller than Tennessee yeah than most countries on the in the United States, so Yeah, the idea is because fingerboarding is actually spread through the whole island and we wanted to give ⁓ an opportunity to represent the whole island.
speaker-0 (24:06)
No, I love it. You guys got a maxed out team roster too. Let's let's go through the team real quick. give me your name and your handle.
speaker-1 (24:14)
Hi
well, my name is Jonah and I'm friendly F B. My name is Kevin Morare and right now I'm solo sorry hello. Sure, my name is Anthony Pol. that's my bad, my bad. My name is Arthur and my three thousand. I'm I'm I seven eight seven FB from the east coast of Puerto Rico. Yeah. Yeah, I'm I'm Jensen and I'm L dot F boy.
speaker-0 (24:36)
Ooh. Yeah.
speaker-1 (24:43)
And I'm from the south of Puerto Rico, so Frankie, ⁓ from the south. S S L dot F B. I guess I gotta say myself, right? Yeah. I am I am Joseon, I am at Islander Rams and I'm in located in Toabaja, Puerto Rico, so it's north next to Booth. We're pretty much neighbors. That's the bus, that's the bus.
speaker-0 (25:06)
Right on. This is team 100 by 35. Yeah, follow us. Hell yeah. Man, all right. So your guys' video submission from a video film editorial side, absolutely spectacular. Yeah, the vibes capturing the community. You guys 100% killed that. You guys like me and my wife were watching this and like
speaker-1 (25:24)
Thank you. Thank you.
speaker-0 (25:36)
I mean you sold her on a like taking a vacation to Puerto Rico. That's how good that
speaker-1 (25:41)
Yeah. Sounds great. We make it. That was the that was the idea. People know Puerto Rico and and get to know, you know, it's tropical here. Every every year all the all the year is summer. We are here definitely ninety degrees all year. So it's a lot of beach. We're surrounded by by water. One of one of the goals with the video was to showcase the fact that we all come from different corners of the island. So so the intro shows each
kind of background for each person. And the editorial side it shows us coming together at one bar. And then we we chess together, we have a fun, then everybody spreads out because they have missions, right? They have they have to complete certain certain challenges. And then we completed some together, some separate, and then at the end they all come back. And a fun fact is that the party at the end is with Titere. And it was kind of like honoring the community of Ponce and Titere Academy, which is one of the the oldest and longest running fingerboarding
communities in Puerto Rico. They meet every Wednesday. It's crazy. It's every Wednesday is a party there.
speaker-0 (26:44)
That's
awesome. But yeah, you guys captured the community, the vibes. Like you could just tell, like you had beach scenery, you guys had food, you had like a barbecue, like you guys had a party, you guys were in the woods, the tree spot. my goodness.
speaker-1 (27:00)
⁓
It was beautiful. That tree is beautiful.
speaker-0 (27:03)
Yeah, you guys had like some of the best spots. Like it was it was wild. You guys definitely killed that for sure. Yeah. So like when you guys were looking at the challenges and stuff, like kind of walk us through like the logistics and like what you guys were kind of planning as far as like putting this this masterpiece together. Frankie.
speaker-1 (27:09)
So nope, thank you.
⁓ so
we did that ⁓ like we're doing some type of work. So we we did a spreadsheet, we did a document and had everything like step by step, everything like ⁓ we're gonna stay here, there. We did a map and like where we w which city are we gonna go to. Yeah, whole schedule. Yeah, it's a schedule, full schedule of everything that we're gonna do. Who's gonna do the trick?
Yeah, we assign assign ⁓ everybody a trick. we were planning on doing ⁓ the twenty five tricks, like the whole tricks. The whole trick, the whole challenges. Time time didn't didn't favor us, but we did a lot of tricks that we didn't like that like how we filmed it, so we cut it out. We kept the the best of the best that that we can ⁓ present to the world. And it was a lot of fun. definitely. I wish we have a lot of
bit of time to yeah something like that we want to put together yeah because it's it was gonna be bigger and crazier and and legit there there was a script a script like scene by scene and we had a shared drive with everything we were sharing everything and that single file said do not edit in all caps yeah the storyline was the was the main part picks ⁓ all of us in the bar
speaker-0 (28:26)
Yeah.
Mm.
That's ⁓
speaker-1 (28:52)
And then we go out to make the challenges that was ⁓ the intro. And it was a lot of fun, yeah. For sure. And then the the most important thing for me is the Islander almost killed me.
speaker-0 (29:05)
Yeah. For real. That was for real. That was the first thing.
speaker-1 (29:07)
Which girl is waiting for
That
was even the first day. Almost fell from the car, man. I was very fun at the same time. Yeah, that's wild. Bro was waiting for him to for everyone to shut up and then like he almost killed me. Yeah, that was the first mission that we filmed. Like the first one we almost lost our team member. ⁓
speaker-0 (29:17)
Time was big.
⁓ car scene.
So what was the most challenging of the challenges that you guys
speaker-1 (29:43)
I
wanna I wanna say something. Yeah. It was the paper cut mission because it's impossible. Paper cut with ⁓ magazine. I don't know how the other teams do it because it was impossible and then we had ⁓ idea to make all the attempts because we rip apart the Plice magazine, a lot of magazines just to try that mission mission and it was really hard. We we didn't make it because it it was ⁓ impossible for
speaker-0 (29:51)
That's a Gary Gray Grave.
speaker-1 (30:12)
We have a lot of films up to
speaker-0 (30:16)
Man. All right. So Plies magazine's gonna have to send you guys out some replacement for us.
speaker-1 (30:20)
Yeah,
because we read a lot of magazines. I mean that's not that we didn't make it, but the one that we did, what was what was the most challenging, challenging. The sun that song was challenging as hell, bro. Honestly, I I will say the DIY. The DIY was pretty challenging because some of us, like Booth and I woke up at 5 30 a.m. to head to Ponce and then we did the letters.
It's all fine, we do all this stuff, and then Frankie says, We gotta park here and walk to the DIY. I said, Sure, that's fine. And then I see the river, I recognize a river. I was like, ⁓ my god, I know how long we have to walk here. It was like ⁓ my my pickup truck set a hundred and three degrees, no trees, no shade, and just walk straight fifteen minutes, and you know, you wanna smile for the video, but it was pretty visible.
Yeah we're never going back there. We should probably never go. So we did a DIY just for the air.
speaker-0 (31:20)
Yeah.
Yeah.
Man. All right. So after watching everybody's submissions, where do you think that you you guys placed among them?
speaker-1 (31:33)
I mean, I'm sorry. I really did enjoy our video a lot. And the other video I really did enjoy was lit. Like those dudes really had a good vibe. Like I laughed a lot. And the others did great too. You know, like everyone did great, honestly. It's hard to say. Like Salty and SK Station for me. That was a great job. They did a good job too. Yeah. Yeah. Each video has a different vibe. You know, I'll tell you that it's pretty cool to see all the submissions.
Ours feels homey. ⁓ Yeah, I don't know if it's for if because we're us, but ten minutes is is nothing when when when you start s ⁓ playing the video, the ten minutes go so fast. So you don't even know that it's that long. Because it's it's entertaining. Yeah, it's twice.
speaker-0 (32:06)
You know.
What if I told you guys you guys got top three? How would you guys feel? Alrighty. You guys play second place and won $200 cash, two sponsor packs, USFEL sponsor pack, and then plies is gonna replace all of those Plies mags for you guys.
speaker-1 (32:31)
Que isso, Bistor.
Middle.
Yes. Yeah,
that sounds good too.
speaker-0 (32:53)
I know, I know.
speaker-1 (32:59)
Puerto Rico, calentó.
speaker-0 (33:02)
⁓
First year for you guys too, so stoked for you guys. It was it was a battle. There's there were some seriously some really good submissions and you guys by like five points, like just barely, barely, barely beat up fourth.
speaker-1 (33:14)
So
what what do you say like what we could have done to place first?
speaker-0 (33:18)
Maybe I think the thing that would have gotten you guys was just a little bit more tech and the fingerboarding stuff. Yeah, maybe may I mean it wasn't much. You guys had the community, you guys had the showcase, you guys the filming, everything was on point. I think the only thing that would have set you behind was just probably the execution of tricks. If you guys had a little bit better tricks, you guys probably would have took them first. Like it was like just that much. Just
speaker-1 (33:43)
Next year then, next year guys. Yeah.
speaker-0 (33:46)
'Cause you guys killed the everything.
They just had a little bit more. Yeah. It was tough. I mean, I had to watch these like four or five times. And even then I was like, man, and I know everybody in the crew and everybody in the judge team stuff, they were like they were struggling because some of these there's like three or four of these things that were just like it could have went either way. But I'm stoked you guys got second Puerto Rico on the map this year.
speaker-1 (34:07)
Yeah. ⁓
speaker-0 (34:09)
The
whole squad, everybody's on. Anybody guys you wanna give a quick shout out to? You wanna say hey to mom? ⁓
speaker-1 (34:22)
King of the flies. A big shout out to everyone behind the scenes. There was a lot of people behind the scenes that that made this possible. You know, Titere was a big part in the closing. Everybody, Guille, Roberto, Eva with 17 dagger. I mean, super thankful for them. All the all the people in our families to put up with, you know, like I'm gonna be away for a day. Bye. you know, out of nowhere.
speaker-0 (34:23)
Yeah.
speaker-1 (34:49)
You know, it it was all possible thanks to a lot of of background work. So I'm thankful to everyone that was ⁓ involved in that. Right. Who was the winner? Thank you. ⁓
speaker-0 (34:56)
What that
I'm gonna tell you up to the stream this story. Right on, appreciate you guys, congratulations.
speaker-1 (35:05)
Thank you, man. Thank you. Thank you. Let me just start out by saying that like the intro to this was perfect. Like how they were just rounding up the squad. It felt like you were watching an actual movie. Like this was like Sundance. When you talk about Sundance Film Festival, this is it right here.
speaker-0 (35:23)
The filming on this was absolutely spectacular. We're talking about the vibes. I mean, just capturing the island of Puerto Rico, they captured this so well. They had different camera angles. I think there was drone footage. Like I don't know how Yeah, they got drone footage. I mean they captured the entire community. Their spots were just unmatched.
speaker-1 (35:40)
Draw fish, yeah.
Everything about this movie was a ten out of ten. I'm not even saying edit, I'm saying movie.
speaker-0 (35:53)
It was fantastic. It could have went either way with the third, second and first. I I wouldn't be mad at either one getting either way, but man, shout out
speaker-1 (36:02)
Do
know if any of these guys are gonna go to Festfingers?
speaker-0 (36:05)
I do not. I do not. Man, huge shout out to team 100 by 35, dude. Those guys are such great dudes. I love their personalities. I love how humble these guys are. Like they're just so thankful to be part of the whole just king of the plies ordeal, dude. These guys are overall like really good dudes.
speaker-1 (36:22)
Yeah, they put Puerto Rico on the map for sure in the fingerboarding legacy.
speaker-0 (36:26)
Definitely. I like how proud they are. I love how like this they just represent their city and they stand on it.
speaker-1 (36:32)
They represent their island.
speaker-0 (36:34)
Their island. Their island. I I'm so used to cities, man. But yeah, they put on for the entire island. They made Puerto Rico look good. I think
speaker-1 (36:40)
also say that the treetop edit in that video was my favorite one. Like that tree was gnarly looking.
speaker-0 (36:46)
By far, the spot on that was definitely 10 out 10. First place, if you guys haven't figured it out, first place, we gotta get into it. All right, real quick legacy recap, real quick. 2024, King of the Plies Champions. Team Faddies took first place. 2025, King of the Plies Champions. Team Loop took first place. This year, 2026, $1,500 cash prize, medals, traveling trophy, brand spanking new.
Cover an article implies Mag and a USAFBL sponsor pack is going to be going to 599.3 points out of 700. We're giving it to Team Lost and Transition. L-I-T. We got Team Lit in the house. Lost and transitions. Hell yeah. Hell yeah. All right. Go ahead and introduce you guys. ⁓ name and Instagram handles.
speaker-1 (37:35)
What up?
Taylor, ⁓ my Instagram handle is Turtleneck. My name is Ricky. My Instagram handle is Enoch33360. Right on, Justin. my Instagram handle is fucked finger one. Anthony and it's Ant FB4. I had to look.
speaker-0 (37:55)
Yeah.
Very nice, very nice. So we are where we're in the infamous garage. We got parks. We got the Black River G13. Yeah. A lot of magic happening down in here. But the craziest thing is I saw two quarter pipes in your guys' film. Yeah.
speaker-1 (38:17)
And we got a shape shop. Yeah, yeah. So I got this side. Yeah. So in twenty twenty, we ripped up my driveway and just started ⁓ pouring concretes in in sections and just maxing out my credit card, paying it down and then doing another pour. So it took like four years to get it, but we ⁓ we got it in.
speaker-0 (38:21)
That's crazy.
So you turned your entire backyard into a skate park. Yeah. All right. For a guy that spent like his entire life savings on fingerboarding, I respect that hustle right there. I respect that.
speaker-1 (38:42)
Yeah, pretty much. Pretty often.
Yeah,
me and a bunch of friends did a lot of the dirt work and like the grunt work and stuff. And then my buddy Max, who works for Grindline, ⁓ would just come down on his days off and like kind of get us like, okay, this is how you need to get it situated. And then when I can get some of the finishers like all together, like Shaggy and Swami and Rollo and some of the like OG grindline dudes, they'd all come here for the day and help us finish. Cause that's kind of like you can
lose it pretty quick if you don't know what you're doing. And I definitely didn't know a lot of what I was doing. So
speaker-0 (39:28)
Hell yeah. Well thanks for meeting with me. Are we missing anybody on the team or is this everybody? Is everybody right on? All right. Hell yeah. Your guys' entry absolutely epic. Kind of walk us through ⁓ kind of the process of putting this together, picking out the challenges. Like, I mean, give us a little behind the scenes of like the logistics and whatnot.
speaker-1 (39:33)
Everybody, yeah.
I think the first choice was this guy edit 'cause he's just the best at editing. So I was it's like tag your it, Justin. That's you. I mean we all like give him feedback and stuff, but that's yeah, that's his baby. Yeah. And it was just me annoying to try and meet up with him a bunch, like What are we doing today? Like what are we doing today? Like, let's get it going, you know. And he was like, like we've all been like super busy and had stuff going on. I think it's a pretty good team effort. I'm about three hours away, so I
pop over gear when I could and we would get what we could and they would get what they could by themselves. I did what I could by myself and then we would just try to meet up, collab. And the first challenge started with the quarter pipe street spot in the beginning. And we went there at nighttime, film that. And it was like, okay, we can actually we can make this happen. So yeah because at first it was like well, yeah, we're gonna do it, but like I don't know when or I don't know how. And then it was like Anthony was like, I'm in town, like let's meet up and try and do a challenge or so. And it was like
Okay, well now I'm just gonna like annoy the fuck out of Justin just like keep hitting We just made it work basically. Taylor constantly lighting a fire under my ass, like, hey, what are you gonna do tonight? you're gonna home, edit, edit another section. Edit it in sections so it's not just an overwhelming thing at the end. This poor guy, you had to cut it down so many times to stay within twelve of like what can we do? We need more in there. He's like ⁓ So there's a lot of stuff that didn't make it in the video that we might release later as smaller segments.
speaker-0 (41:12)
Okay.
Yeah, no, of course, of course. We do that just to keep it from ⁓ editing, like judging fatigue. You start getting into the fifteen, twenty, twenty-five minute, like it gets kind of crazy as a judge, like having to like literally go through like f you know a bunch of different edits like that. So we keep it down just to kind of keep from the fatigue. But yeah. No, it's you guys absolutely killed it, killed it. All right, so like out of all the challenges, like which one you think was like your favorite to kind of go through and do?
speaker-1 (41:40)
Man, they're all kind of fun. Even even the terrible ones. It was like forty minutes in a public bathroom, just pruny fingers. And we were all like so I was like, damn, whoever's walking by right now. It's like we might get a chance to do the cop car thing when someone calls the cops off for going in this park bathroom and like prune fingers. ⁓ I like the fire. Yeah, and the tree in the forest. Yeah.
speaker-0 (42:02)
Yeah.
speaker-1 (42:07)
I had a lot of fun with the treadmill. We were just goofing off in here and kind of maxed out and like it was so hard to keep up trying to get him on the railroad. I think being a builder, my favorite was the DIY, of course. ⁓ Creek Doctor does a lot of rocks ⁓ with his pores, and I love skating rocks. Like I've got river rocks on some of the coping ⁓ there and I have a rock that you can skate in the backyard. So I was like, I've got all these tiny ones, I want to make a bowl at some point, or like a little
speaker-0 (42:20)
DIY is epic.
speaker-1 (42:37)
Harve Pocket with River Rock coping and that was sick, but I think I like the infomercial the most just because
speaker-0 (42:44)
Hilarious, had me rolling.
speaker-1 (42:46)
Yeah
and like dragging my wife into it, she was like, ⁓ are you kidding me? Like damn it. And I was like, Come on out to the garage, like I need help. And she was like, ⁓ We're all kind of old, so it's like fuck around with some of those challenges, like I might actually get fucked up by shopping cart now. I did get the boot clips though.
speaker-0 (43:04)
Yeah. I saw that. I saw that. Gary was going wild on that one for sure.
speaker-1 (43:09)
That was technically the ⁓ kick football ride too. So I was like kinda I hope Ben liked that one.
speaker-0 (43:15)
He was watching, he was watching.
speaker-1 (43:17)
Right. That was really good one with a lot of variation at the regular kick, switch kick, and then Justin's bangers. I mean, that was a really fun challenge at the
speaker-0 (43:26)
Which one which challenge gave you guys the most difficulty to execute?
speaker-1 (43:31)
I
think the fire one just because I was using lighter fluid, so like every time you do a trick or so you have to like re you know, like apply it and then like light it up and you only have a couple like seconds because the hotter that gets, the faster it off gasses. So ⁓ it was in my opinion, I'd say the toilet seat Yeah
speaker-0 (43:49)
⁓ Three
fingers is wild. Yeah.
speaker-1 (43:55)
I knew handle's gonna be pruning things. And and we lost a wheel and then he was doing it because we couldn't get the wheel out of it. It like went deep down and it was like, damn. Wheels with three wheels. Yeah, the trick was landing with three wheels.
speaker-0 (44:08)
That's crazy. Yeah. That is crazy. And never retrieved it either. Man. That's what I'm saying. Can you apply? It's gonna do or die.
speaker-1 (44:15)
As a sacrifice to the the gods.
speaker-0 (44:22)
Man, all right, so after seeing everybody's submissions, where do you guys feel like you placed?
speaker-1 (44:28)
⁓ I mean most videos are great. Yeah. Yeah. I gotta I gotta give some homage to Moose. Yeah it's his second year doing it, so he's got a little more ⁓ insight on what's going on. They did very well. I really like their I I could totally see them winning it, although I I hope I hope it stays in Washington no matter if it's us or them. And shout out to everybody else that you know Yeah. It's a lot of work. I don't know, I could see top three. I hope we're top three, but like Justin said, like point toss.
speaker-0 (44:43)
⁓
speaker-1 (44:56)
To Washington, I hope it stays here. Whoever gets that'd be great. I really liked the salty seat edit and stuff like that. ⁓ skateboard just hit the garage. But yeah, it's like the skate station one, I was just watching it when I was like, ⁓ shoot, I gotta hop on this call, like I hadn't finished that one, but that one's like really good too. So
speaker-0 (45:14)
Dude, they're all really, really good. What if I told you guys you guys placed top three? Yeah.
speaker-1 (45:19)
That'd great. I was I well I was like well he's interviewing us so I maybe we did, I don't know. You know ⁓
speaker-0 (45:27)
He was excited to get the call. He was excited to get the call. What if I told you guys you guys made it to top two? ⁓
speaker-1 (45:33)
Even better. So who made it to top one? I know who top. I'll respect it, though.
speaker-0 (45:39)
You guys are standing next to each other. We we won? Yeah, you guys won first place. Fifte hundred dollars cash, medals, travel trophy, cover of supplies magazine, an article, and a USAFBL sponsor pack.
speaker-1 (45:52)
⁓ yeah, let's go.
speaker-0 (45:57)
Washington on the map for you guys. Yeah. Yeah. Man. What are you guys feeling right now?
speaker-1 (45:59)
⁓ in
Yeah, pretty blown away. We tried to be as creative as possible. And I think I we reviewed the edit, me and Taylor, and like I was just so done with editing and filming. I was like pretty confident. I was like, Yeah, we won. I I shouldn't have worn being like, well we should do this or we should do and Anthony was like, We should do this, this, this, and Justin was like
Dude, I'm so burned out on like trying to edit and be on my phone and it's like I've got like stuff going on and you know, it's like okay, well but we should trim it down, you know, it's like we should be five seconds here, ten seconds there.
speaker-0 (46:49)
Well, you
guys absolutely killed it. You guys just got crazy spots. The DIY park went crazy. Your fingerboarding skills. Yeah, the fingerboarding skills, top tier, man. The personality, the team chemistry. Like you guys checked off all of the boxes. Yeah. For sure, for sure. You guys got any quick shout outs? Anybody you guys want to recognize? You want to say hey to mom? Anything like that before we get off here?
speaker-1 (47:00)
I'm not sorry out yet.
I would like to give a shout out to my wife, Mandy. She's behind the scenes doing all the stuff I don't do, like stickers, all my labels, all that kind of stuff. Allowing me to just go, hey, I gotta I'm gonna be back like I don't know when. Sometime tonight I gotta go three hours and get this done. Shout out to my lady for letting me do the breast clean. He's been going through a lot this month. our time was cut short on filming editing just because he had some passing in his family. Together. So
speaker-0 (47:33)
Yeah, yeah.
Shit and pulled it all.
speaker-1 (47:45)
And for yeah, just like putting us all on a team and entering the contest and stuff and Well this guy shows up for everything, you know. Same with you, so you know. I appreciate it. I think we all work good together. It's pretty awful. I'll give a shout out to my mom though. I love you, mama.
speaker-0 (48:03)
Right on, right on. Enjoy the victory. Hopefully we'll see you again next year to defend your title. Man, proud of you guys. Appreciate you.
speaker-1 (48:11)
You guys too for putting us on.
speaker-0 (48:13)
Well
thank you, thank you, thank you. Man, that reaction, I feel like that's definitely a first place reaction. They were super stoked, super grateful, super overall, just good people, man, putting the West Coast on the map. I don't even know where to start with this crazy edit.
speaker-1 (48:30)
Dude, this edit, this video, this movie had me cheering and standing up while watching it multiple different times. I loved everything about this video. Everything. Dude. Awesome.

Facts, facts. They had just a range of emotions through the entirety of the of the edits. Like there was parts where like I'm like, man, these guys are like just killing it. Then I'm laughing my ass off. And then I'm like kind of feel bad because of their like putting themselves through a little bit of pain on some of these Gary Graves challenges. And then like I'm looking at some of these like just tricks and stuff being done on some of these outdoor street spots. And I'm like, dude, these are hard ass tricks.
speaker-1 (49:12)
Not only were the challenges, everything filmed and edited really good, but like the fingerboarding were it was solid hard tricks that was being done on this edit.

No doubt. And we can't forget about the DIY park, that spot.
speaker-1 (49:28)
I wanna go out there and shred that DIY. That was like when I came up with the idea for doing a DIY, that's kind of what I wanted to see. They went above and beyond. That's like a twelve point five out of ten. The best DIY I've ever seen on a video like that.
speaker-0 (49:41)
No doubt. I actually love the fact that we're building all these DIYs across, you know, America and Puerto Rico and stuff. Like I'm loving the fact that like you're gonna start seeing more and more of these. I really wanna put together like a map that pins points like all of the DIY spots all around where you just pull up and sesh for sure.
speaker-1 (49:56)
Well maybe not just DIYs but like street spots too.
speaker-0 (49:59)
all the spots. Like all the spots. Like for sure. Like that needs to be done, whether by us or by somebody. Someone needs to go out and make that happen for sure. But huge shout out to Yeah, yeah.
speaker-1 (50:10)
⁓ no.
But yeah, T L dude, d ⁓ what'd you think of that infomercial?
speaker-0 (50:15)
The infomercial had me rollin'.
speaker-1 (50:18)
We've an exciting product here, lit fingerboards. Made out of Washington, handmade, hand-shaped. The quality is in the material. You can feel the difference. They have a wide selection of different sizes and concave variations, and a catalog to match of graphics, as you can see here by our sample selection, that will complement your personality.
And your style. Take for example this customer using a run-of-the-mill generic board. They can't get their trip. Their pop is off. They're unhappy. ⁓ Now we give them a lit fingerboard. This same person. Look at that. Flip in. Wow. World of difference. The the cream of what's it, the cream of the crop or whatever they say, dude. I love that.
speaker-0 (51:07)
had me rolling. I we watched it like two times in a row, like just for the infomercial. Like it was like 10 out of 10. 10 out of 10. Shout out
speaker-1 (51:17)
Shout out to Lit bro. Shout

T six. Let's give it up for lit. Let's definitely give it up for all the submissions. Man, all these guys put in super hard work. I don't know if you guys realize these guys had six weeks to basically put together movie magic. So I know everyone had a great time getting the boys together and the girls, getting everybody like just involved, going out with your your squad and
Filming all these cool things, all these cool challenges. I know everybody's got great stories. They got memories that'll last for a lifetime. We're gonna be doing this every single year. So every year in April, King of the Plies, that's gonna be us. This year we've got combo of the year and line of the year to look forward to in September, October. So definitely ⁓ we're always running that. We're running it up. We're running it all the way up. So our next ⁓ our next video submissions are gonna be King of the Plies. That's King of the Plies, sorry, Combo of the Year and Line of the Year. So look forward to that this fall.
And I'm ⁓ a little little nervous on King of the Pl ⁓ Combo of the Year and Line of the Year for this fall 'cause I've been watching some of the edits out there, brother. Some of these just monster combos. We got our work cut out for us. I think that's progression of fingerboarding every single year getting better. Man, where can people find you, Gary? ⁓
speaker-1 (52:38)
And earlier and earlier.
