Flipped Table Theology
A weekly conversation centered around flipping tables of oppression, injustice, privilege, division, and religion as acts of faith and worship. Our team of hosts' varied lived experiences and perspectives will catalyze deep, challenging discussions that we hope will serve as the starting point for conversations in listeners' lives.
Flipped Table Theology
Conversation #39: Religious Trauma & Memorial Services
*Trigger warning: This podcast talks about death, grief, with some mention of suicide.
This week, our podcast team was honored with the wisdom of guest, Tiela Creekmore. Tiela is a chaplain at her local hospital and has personally walked through the loss of a loved one.
Holly shared a poem she wrote at the end of this episode:
Grief is the winter.
Inside the colorless chill of hours dark,
I know, somehow,
That i will carry you into spring.
Where I will see you rise inside the sun
And see your legacy in every bloom
And you will see me-
Far beyond the me you knew.
This hope keeps me breathing.
But my winter is not done holding me
Here, in the dark,
In this lonely absence of you.

We hope you are able to find a safe, supportive community in your deconstructing because "no one deserves to deconstruct alone" as we mentioned during week 17. We are moving our Flipped Table Theology Facebook group to a group on BAND to give people a way to connect outside of mainline social media platforms. Connect this discussion group for a place to create connections and conversations.
The Flipped Table Theology Podcast is a production of The Flipped Table Collective. You can explore all of the resources, classes, events, and trainings that the Flipped Table Collective has to offer at www.flippedtablecollective.com.
