Listen In Love
Brought to you by Under His Wings—a nonprofit with nearly 20 years of experience in trauma-informed mental health—this podcast is where faith meets psychology. Our mission? To shape modern culture by blending biblical truth with accurate psychological practices.
Our unique approach bridges a generational divide. Upcoming younger generations are boldly talking about mental health, and rightly so. While their voices are passionate, aware, and deeply honest, the guidance, support, and understanding of older generations grants insight into the resilience, grit, and perseverance which secures success in life. Here, empathy meets experience. Authenticity meets wisdom. Self-expression meets self-determination.
Listen In Love seeks to bring you encouragement for a life that's not just happier, but holier.
Be a part of our mission! We aim to make mental health relatable.

A Generational Bridge: Why Mentorship Actually Works
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
In this episode, we explore the power of mentorship—and why it remains one of the most effective ways to build confidence, character, and self-worth in young women. Through honest conversation and lived experience, we show how mentorship isn’t just helpful—it’s transformational.
Hosted by leaders from Under His Wings Gulf Coast, this discussion unpacks why creating intentional mentoring environments is critical for families, churches, and communities. We also share how Under His Wings is actively building spaces where mentorship can flourish, with a vision to expand into churches and broader community settings.
This episode is structured around generational perspective:
- Arcelia, speaking as a parent and mentor, shares what it looks like to support young women without overstepping, how mentoring grew her own confidence, and why obedience—not perfection—qualified her to step in.
- Kimberly offers the perspective of a young woman who was being mentored before she even realized she needed it—learning firsthand that strength doesn’t mean isolation, and that God works powerfully through relationships and humility.
Together, they discuss:
- What mentorship really is (and what it isn’t)
- How mentorship helps young women understand their value and purpose
- Why mentorship is biblical, not just cultural
- What makes a healthy mentor-mentee relationship
- What to do if mentorship feels awkward or imperfect at first
- How mentorship looks different across ages, seasons, and roles
We also highlight that mentorship doesn’t always have to be formal. Teens mentor middle schoolers. Adults mentor younger women. Sometimes it’s structured, sometimes it’s a conversation over coffee, but it’s always relational.
If you’ve ever thought, “I don’t know enough to mentor” or “I wish I had someone like that,” this episode is for you.
