Accidentally on Purpose

A Few Thoughts

Keenan Hall Season 1 Episode 22

A few thoughts on the current events...

Speaker 1:

what is going on everybody. Welcome back to another edition of the Accidentally On Purpose podcast, where we explored the intricacies of life, love and growth through candid conversation, thought-provoking topics. Welcome to the Accidentally On Purpose podcast, where we aim to live intentionally, even when life seems accidental. As you can tell by my side, I don't even know what to say. I really wasn't going to potter man, but I hadn't put any content out in a few weeks because I've been trying to just kind of wrap my head around everything that is going on and everything that has transpired over the past few weeks. I last left you all with um, I believe to be a hell of a pot, titled kamala thought everything was um, what's gonna work out in our favor? Boy was I wrong. I could not have been more wrong about this election, in the blowout that a lot of us thought that was going to happen, just because of the energy that was galvanized by the harris and walsh campaign. And man, it's just hard to believe that. You know we're here again, but, um, overall I think I did a pretty good job. I I was sad, my lady was very sad, you know we didn't get much sleep that night, but, having lived through this presidency once before in Texas, mind you, suburban Houston. I think I'm a little more prepared this time around, although we don't know what the hell is going gonna happen. But I think the silver lining for me is that, uh, me and me and my lady, we are in california where we are protected, or she's protected. Uh, I'll talk about that in a second and, um, you know, it's kind of, it's kind of rule, um rule, it's kind of insulated. I would say, not rule, that was the bad, uh, the wrong word. But I think it is kind of insulated because this is a blue state. It's blue for the most part, but surprisingly a lot of like the orange county and everything it was kind of went red. But I saw that traveling. You know trump flags and all of that, but you know one thing I can say about these orange county and california races ain't nothing like texas. You don't know until Flags and all of that. But you know one thing I can say About these Orange County and California races there ain't nothing like Texas. You don't know Until you know In Texas they Overt with it.

Speaker 1:

So, yeah, man, I was disappointed, mainly because this, this really impacts the plans that we have. We actually had plans Was in the, you know, the midst of Moving to Dallas. Um, you know, lower standard, lower cost of living, get more house, less money. Um, you know, our money goes longer in Texas, sometimes six figures in California ain't really six fingers, six figures. So, um, yeah, man, that is the disappointing thing, uh, along with us trying to uh get married and start a family and things like that. You know, we, we uh, I don't know totally, I guess miscalculated that.

Speaker 1:

And you know, uh, texas doesn't have any rights in place to protect women. You know, especially women that are of age where the pregnancy can be considered geriatric I think it's a wrong word, but that's what they call it or high risk. You know, anything can happen. And when those rights are not protected, we get, you know, things like uh, atlanta, um, sorry, the name is escaping me, a lot of things escaping me right now but the there's a young woman in Atlanta who uh was not able to carry her her pregnancy to term and know they wouldn't remove the uh lifeless child and she ended up trying to get care in another state and it didn't work out and she ended up passing away. And I'll be done if I let that happen to me and mine on my watch.

Speaker 1:

So it looks like right now, unless something happens, uh, definitely, looking at the dm area and things like that over there, you know. But right now we probably going to end up staying put. But I'm confident, knowing that God is going to make a way. And, you know, for the rest of us, I just think we got to buckle up Because, as you can see from his cabinet picks, he's really surrounding himself With the furthest of right people To push out his agenda. But A lot of these people don't know their head from their ass. So I think in the end they'll end up self-destructing. Just hope that it doesn't affect me and my family Too much.

Speaker 1:

Thank you, black women, for showing up. You know it doesn't affect me and my family too much. Thank you, black women, for showing up. Thank you Seventy seventy eight percent of black men for showing up. The rest of you.

Speaker 1:

I have nothing to say, nothing nice to say. I should. I should say that. So, yeah, man, I should say that. So, yeah, man. Yeah, this is going to be, it's going to be, interesting time, but I think you should definitely get fit.

Speaker 1:

As I said before, get as fit as you can Spiritually, financially, physically, emotionally heavy on a spiritual, spiritually fit. You have to lean on something other than yourself and your friends and your family To try to justify or make sense Of the crap that we might, you know, we may end up seeing and hopefully it doesn't hit too close to home For anybody that encounters this podcast. But, man, just get fit. Man in every aspect Of life and if you Can, you know, afford it, or develop Some kind of exit plan or contingency plan to allow you to come and go to America as you please. I would definitely encourage it. But if not, man, just hunker down, do what we do, as black people especially. We endure, we got to endure, you know, unfortunately, so it's.

Speaker 1:

It's disappointing, but the real disappointing thing is Election aside Is I feel like I'm just tired, tired of waking up every day and America's playing in our faces. We know some wacky stuff Went on with the election. You know that's one thing, but when it, when it comes to entertainment, things that we listen to, things that we watch for instance, is Jake Paul, mike Tyson fight I really didn't want to watch it, but somebody in the household that was shall remain remain nameless wanted to, wanted to watch it. But I was just very disinterested because I already know how this was going to go. Just very disinterested because I already know how this was gonna go. I mean, the man was damn near 60 and if you follow jake paul you know that everything he does is a spectacle. It's not real. He's not a real boxer. He actually sucks as a boxer. Like comparing him to other world-class boxers, like he's not good at all, but somehow he could stack the deck.

Speaker 1:

And you know, face our legends, you know for a Payday and continues to make a mockery Out of them. But hey, who am I? You know, if Mike Tyson Wanted to do that and he's a grown man and that's what he wanted to do Go for it. But for me it's a stain on his legacy. Personally, I don't even give a damn. I never looked. You know that's what he wanted to do, go for it. But for me it's a stain on his legacy. Personally, I don't even give a damn. I never looked, you know, to Mike Tyson for advice or you know he never really inspired me in any kind of way.

Speaker 1:

But it does suck that it seems like our black legends are, you know, continuing to lose to the most average people in this world, and it reminds me of the song from Kendrick lamar how much a dollar costs, you know how much. How much did that cost you, mike? How much is that going to cost you in the long term? Health legacy, uh, mental stability? You know, we'll see in due time, but it's just Every day.

Speaker 1:

Somebody is Playing in our faces. You know, now we got A secondary white woman In charge of the Department of Education, which is laughable. We got a pedophile as the Attorney General, which is laughable. It's like man, what can you do at this point? You know, um, I guess the good thing that may come out of all of this is, uh, some revolutionary black music. You know, last time around we got all right by kendrick lamar and we got an amazing album from rhapsody. So, um, you know, maybe somebody will step up to the plate and create, uh, some more music to get us through these tough times ahead, unless God comes in and perform some kind of miracle. You know, trump might be, I don't know, it might be one Big Mac away from stroking out of here. So you know, it is what it is and I don't give a damn.

Speaker 1:

You know that could be controversial to say, oh, you shouldn't say that. No, I should, I don't care. You know somebody that has set on information like covid19, that took so many lives, people in my family that I know personally, um, friends, uh, friends, parents, parents, you know grandparents yeah, that's malpractice. He should have been out of office just for doing that. You know, for me, I'll never forget about Central Park five and the, the racist rhetoric that he continues to spew. So, yeah, I'm not in agreeance with Michelle Obama, matter of fact. I'm not in agreeance with Michelle Obama. Matter of fact, I'm not in agreeance with no Democrats right now. Y'all all soft, you rolled over, you didn't do shit.

Speaker 1:

So at this point it's about me and mine. An exit plan, some kind of Contingency plan or just trying to Co-exist. You know, with other people, even if we don't agree politically, you can stay over there. Just don't come over here trying to interrupt me and mine and we good, do you? But as far as like beholding a political party, I think them days are long gone for us as black people. You know, ain't no, ain't no savior coming, and this is jesus the christ himself. But ain't no, ain't no part, ain't no party you and this is Jesus the Christ himself. But ain't no, ain't no, ain't no party. You don't read, or blue, or independent green, whatever. There's no party that is going to come in and save us. And that's pretty much all I got to say about that man.

Speaker 1:

It's infuriating, it's frustrating to continue to wake up every day in america and we're literally looking at things playing in our face. We, I swear we are in the lowest quality of times right now. The lowest quality of times, and some of that is coming from our own people. When I look at a person like tyler perry, who has so much influence and money, on one hand I'm proud of the brother for employing a lot of um black actors and actresses, but on the other hand, I can't get behind most of the shit that he put out. I can't. It's the same storyline terrible black man, average black man, comes in saved today from this damsel in distress, as that happens to be a black woman, or the black woman is going to endure and put up with so much stuff. And then, you know, don't even get me into, get me talking about the lbgtqia plus stuff, man, like it's just some of this stuff ain't needed.

Speaker 1:

You know, I'm saying like music, a lot of these record labels filing bankruptcy right now, laying a lot of people off. But y'all the ones that put people like sexy red to the forefront, y'all the ones that employed, um, employed, employed, people like the little dirt, um, you know who was probably gonna spend the rest of his life in jail. But there's a lot of other artists, artists out here that deserve that spot. But because the controversial music and the peddling of Junkie and murder culture and black music makes money for white pockets, ain't nobody know where to be found right now To help Dirk out with his case or try to push him in another direction. A lot of these people have culpability, but there's a lot of powers, um, above us that encourages kind of stuff. So, man, it's like when you got a, when you, when you have artists like a Rhapsody or you know Kendrick or Cole Cordae and there's just so much good music out here. I feel like we need to push that to the forefront. And just in black households in general, you know we got a, we have Spike Lee's, we have Denzel's, you know we have F Gary Gray's, we have ryan coogler's.

Speaker 1:

I, just for the life of me, I don't understand why. Why are we so engaged and involved with the bullshit. Why do we continue to support the bullshit man? For me, I've learned how to navigate this life and not entertain things that I complain about. I'll watch a Tyler Perry film, you know, if my lady wants to watch it, but I know what I'm gonna get, so I'm not really disappointed. You know, if I do watch it, if I do try to support it, you know what you're going to get. So some tips and tricks that work for me, you know, is just to not entertain things that I complain about. I have no problem with leaning on old stuff. Right now we're watching my wife and kids because it is a hilarious show and it's about the black family dynamics and it's kind of, you know, it's really encouraging. Also, his new show with his son Papa's House Very, very good show for for us son papa's house very, very good show for for us, for me, anybody that's listening to this you gotta find your joy and stay there. Whatever brings you joy, find it, stay there. You know.

Speaker 1:

I just think we need to stop entertaining so much bullshit. God, it's a lot of junk in here, man, it's so much junk. This man on spear stuff with men and women, this high value, top tier men and women, these bullshit answers from people like Cam Newton and Nick Cannon. All y'all doing is populating the world with single mothers and another man is going to have to come up behind you and clean up your mess. Yeah, you might got money and status, but your moral tact, it's gonna affect your children and if those curses ain't breaking, it's gonna affect your grandchildren and your great-grandchildren, like these are the things we're not talking about and that's probably what I'm gonna name the title of this.

Speaker 1:

Uh, this episode shit off my chest or let's talk about it, or something. Man, I don't know, I really I really didn't have much to say, man, I just wanted to press play and talk out my thoughts, things that's been going in my head, going on, um, you know, around me and I'm just observing all of this like yo, we are in a twilight zone right now. This is, it's like the lowest quality of shit. You know, cat williams they say he opened up the portal, you know, with the shannon sharp interview. Maybe he did, you know, because right behind that we got the drake and kendrick thing and to me that was more than the beef. Um, it it was. You know, it was like Things that we've been, we've seen this. We continue to let outsiders come into Our world and our culture and play with us, profit off of our pain, you know.

Speaker 1:

And he's had racy lines Like rapping, like you're trying to get the slaves free, or tie you up in whips and chains like american slaves. Like bro, that shit is not funny. This is like real shit that our ancestors have gone through. And if you black and you grew up in a lower middle class or hell, even middle class like me I was. I was in a hood and then when we moved I was hood adjacent like I know what that's like. You don't come over here making fun of that shit. But then you got the people around you that don't check you. That's why I don't. I don't have I don't have no Empathy or sympathy for Lil Wayne With this whole Super Bowl shit. Like cut it out man. You sound like a privileged dickhead. You walk up and down the streets all day playing in the words of Big Worm.

Speaker 1:

You push junkie culture for years but you want somebody to put you on the Super Bowl stage when you need a teleprompter to remember your lyrics or something in your cup to rap. Come on, bro. Like cut it out, man, you don't deserve shit. You're the same nigga that said black lives don't matter, or they don't matter to you because a white police police officer saves your life like come on, man, cut it out, grow up, stand upright, man, put the cup down. Be a man, you don't deserve nothing. If you did, if you felt like that, then you should have spent these past few years Showing up to your concerts On time, sober, doing stuff in your community. Now you want to get on. You know what I'm saying? These internets, these Al Gore internets, and complain Like somebody owe you something. Stop it, bro. You a junkie Straight like that and you push junkie culture.

Speaker 1:

I don't give a fuck how jamming the beat is. It's terrible. I'm going off boy. I don't even know if I'm going to publish this. I might keep this for the archives, but this is just me and my thoughts. Man, other things that's going on.

Speaker 1:

Food, the food is terrible. It's fucking terrible. I don't know if y'all noticed the quality of food like we have when you go to the store. This, like the the eggs is 13, the orange juice is $25. Like shit's crazy. Right now Nobody's saying nothing. At least I don't hear it. You know cause. I think we're too fixated On tearing each other down Rather than coming up with Solutions. And now that we got a conspiracy theorist In charge of the food and drug administration, I don't know what the hell's gonna happen. Yeah, man, it's, he's in charge of the food and drug administration. I don't know what the hell's gonna happen. Um, yeah, man, it's, uh, it's, it's, it's a.

Speaker 1:

It's a terrible dark time right now, but this america is beautiful because you can be literally anything you want to be. You could be a felon and get away with being the president of the united states. You could be a sex offender and get away with being the president of the united states. Man, I don't know, dog, what do I know? I'm speechless, bro. Such is life.

Speaker 1:

Well, I think, man, other than offering y'all some advice about Just positioning yourself To receive whatever blessing that you desire, really ain't got too much to else to offer. You know, um, I'm not defeated, though, because I feel like I've navigated this already. So I kind of know, um, you know how to go about navigating this, but it's not even me that I'm really concerned about. It's like it's my parents. You know my father, everybody know my mom passed, but it's it's just about um. You know how's this gonna affect him, how's this gonna affect my nephew, how's it gonna affect people that are in position like I am. You know I do okay in life. I do, I do okay, but you know it's the people around me. So, yeah, man, position yourself, stay close to God, find your joy and stay there. I think we're all disappointed, but you know, don't? It's okay to feel how you feel, but in the meantime, like, come up with some kind of plan and get yourself out there. Right, you gotta keep going, gotta push forward by any means.

Speaker 1:

Personally, I'm not even watching the news. Uh, what I learned last administration when he was in office? You could watch the news and then stop watching it for like three months. You go back they talking about the same shit, just a bunch of people complaining not getting no legislation done. So let the clowns run the circus. You know, avoid that. Watch from afar. It's OK to check in from time to time to see what's going on and is there any legislation that's going to affect you? But for the most part it doesn't. You know, but for the most part it doesn't. You know. And to you, you people that Voted against your own interests, especially you Immigrants. Buckle up Because he's he's getting ready to deport A lot of your people, mass deportation, using the military.

Speaker 1:

Personally, I have no Qualms about it, I have no feelings, because we try to tell y'all and I think I speak for the entire black community, especially black women and 78 of black men we are tired. This is between y'all. Man, hell, life is already hard for us if you black, just trying to coexist in this world, just trying to go to Express and not get followed, you know, trying to drive to Orange County without getting pulled over, like that's enough for me, man. I've been dealing with this and I'm going to just try to keep that attitude and tap into the things that bring me joy To navigate all of this. But yeah, man, until next time, put value in yourself, put value in each other and we'll have a value society. I'm done rambling Peace.
