Heavy on the Love
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Love sounds simple until we start adding conditions to it. I’m coming to you in a “heavy on the love” mood after a birthday week, a work promotion, and a real moment of gratitude for the people who’ve held me down. And I’m naming something I think is quietly breaking our relationships and our communities: we keep putting a comma after love when we need to put a period.
I talk about what it looks like to choose sincerity in a world that rewards mess, clout, and backhanded compliments. I get personal about meeting my future wife, feeling intimidated by excellence, and learning the truth my mom stayed on me about: nobody can be you but you. We also get into why therapy matters for healthy relationships, consistency, and showing up the same way when it’s hard as when it’s easy.
Then I take you to a flower shop moment that turns into a bigger conversation about modern dating, instant gratification, and where intentionality went. If marriage rates are falling and “simp” is treated like an insult, what does it say about how we’ve been trained to see vulnerability and respect? I break down why respect is the ultimate luxury, why protecting your partner includes emotional safety, and I even give practical free game on rose colors and their meanings so your flowers actually say something.
If this hits home, subscribe, share it with someone you love, and leave a review so more people find the message. What would change in your life if you put a period after love?
Sometimes I wonder what language do we have people thinking.
Opening Song And Welcome
SPEAKER_01There's so many things I've got to tell you, but I'm afraid I don't know how Cause there's a possibility that you look at me differently.
SPEAKER_00Ever since the first moment I spoke your name from then on I knew that by you being in my life things were destined to change Cause love So many people use your name Love Those who have faith in you sometimes go astray Through all the ups and downs the joys in hurts Love For better or worse I still will choose you first Oh many days I've longed for you wanting you hoping for the chance to get to know you Longin' for your kids for your test your life for your past Many nights I've cried from the things you do Felt like I could die from the thought of losing you I know that you're with a little fist in the question peace peace peace what is going on welcome back welcome back to another episode of Heavy on the RB I am your host I go by the name K Way I am the proprietor the creator of all things heavy on the RB man welcome back this is episode fuck sorry 14 15 perfect I forgot man but man it's it's been a crazy week just recapping everything your boy turned your man turned another week older this past Wednesday July 8th it was my born day um and I had a lot going on man I got I got a promotion at work and it was it's it's it's in a weird way so uh man I got uh some more responsibilities the wedding is is approaching got about 15 weeks 16 weeks and um I got a lot more responsibilities so uh my time will be limited probably won't be in a lot of different YouTube lives and and chats and things like that man gotta gotta make the coins and and responsibilities are not gonna take care of themselves but nonetheless I'm happy to be here that was music soul child one of my favorite songs by him fun fact that song um uh was a gospel song and some people interpret it as he made the song uh some people say he made I don't I haven't seen him confirm this but it was about God uh and in instead of love at first it said God uh so replaced that and either way both are great songs um and and that's one of my favorite all-time love songs man that's the mood that I'm in right now that was released in November of 2000 I was in the sixth grade sixth or seventh grade on his album A I Just Wanna Sing so um yeah shout out to music uh uh music soul child so yeah one of the few Christmas uh albums that was released it was released on Christmas I believe in 2000 so fun fact but neither here nor there let's get into it man today's episode is called Heavy on the Love because that's what I'm feeling um it's been a roller coaster honestly it's been um a roller coaster of highs and lows of content creation and um you know like I know my content is dope and I know I'm dope but sometimes I wonder if I attracted the wrong tribe because the views don't you know match the quality of content and I think that uh yeah man I don't know I I think I don't know I'm I may I may I may have kind of pigeonholed myself by just being a clown in the YouTube comments and I'm trying not to do that so um I will make sure to be you know a bit more serious because I'm not like just you know no internet clown I got a whole career and very accomplished man and you know former educator and pro athlete and all of that so um I think some of the people that I have attracted do not know what my content is about. So yeah man I'm just trying to avoid the mess I cannot reiterate that enough and I'm not here for the drama or the algorithm of negativity just trying to build the community of substance and soul man that's why I call this heavy on the RB
Content Creation Without The Drama
SPEAKER_00I talk about the rhythms of blues of my life and also yours and hopefully you know in in due time change some perspectives on therapy love marriage God all of that good stuff man so yeah but let me speak on some gratitude I really appreciate the birthday love that I receive um I appreciate you know everybody in Miss Humming's Discord shouting your boy out I appreciate Justin and Stat and DJ and chilling with Moni um you know I may not know all of y'all personally but um being a cancer I'm a bit of an empath and I'm like you know when Kendra said I I feel everything I feel everybody I that's me man so I really feel the love just like I feel the hurt when I see one of my fellow content creators going through it that shit bothers me too but um you know this is about gratitude I'm heavy on the love today and um yeah I just want to thank everybody that showed up for me whether to the live stream of my own when I spin or um the chat well wishes man it it doesn't go unnoticed and I I tried to reply to every message I believe I did. If I did not reply to you charge it to my head and not my heart and just you know uh shoot me another message and I'll make sure I recognize you um although I'm a small channel I want to set the standard you know if I
Birthday Gratitude And Community Love
SPEAKER_00ever get the opportunity to be bigger than what I am uh I'm I'm still gonna be you know the same K way I'm still gonna reply um with positive um feedback and and and thanks and gratitude so yeah man just want to continue this wave of positive energy coming off my birthday because um honestly it's exactly what I needed after the week before that y'all already know what all of that was about so um yeah man but moving along man I won't be before you before you long today so I think the core message that I want to talk about today is you know along with heavy on a love I want us to put a period after the love I think a lot of the times we put a comma and I think the antidote is this um like so I received a lot of positivity on my birthday with you know the usual internet landscape but also within that landscape there are a lot of beefs there's a lot of hating there's a lot of backdooring going on and it it got me to thinking man damn just for so for one day we were able to get along and you know move past everything what if we actually did that on a daily basis and we were able to just put a period not a comma after love and I think uh after love I think we gotta give people their flowers you know you gotta like I said put the period at the end of it if you give somebody a compliment you know you don't need a comma in a butt and or but just man keep going period I'm proud of you period you know it don't need to be you know keep going but I would uh but you know uh proud of you but you know or you know go gossip elsewhere just you know I think we gotta just exclamation point or a period no commas no ands if ends and buts about it man just just really emphasize on the love and not the backhanded compliments and I want to challenge the audience if you listening to me man just show it daily not just on birthdays or funerals we gotta give people their flowers while they hear and they can smell them you know I think if we all did that you know it'd the world would be in a little bit of a of a better place. I'm not saying it'll be perfect but at the same time I don't think that we would be so attracted to the drama that we are attracted to now um and and for me like like I said
Put A Period After Love
SPEAKER_00going back to the first point like you know it it can get discouraging in being a content creator in the YouTube streets like I'm used to I'm I'm I'm new to this but I'm I'm kind of used to just kind of being on my own uh my own path you know I I march to the beat of my own drum I don't I don't shuck in job I don't dance unless I hear the beat um matter of fact I don't dance unless I feel the beat fuck that uh because a lot of y'all just out here tap dancing for likes and clicks and and all of that but honestly man when I look at it I got everything I need in my life God has provided me with much more than I asked for and um I couldn't be more um couldn't be more grateful and I think the ultimate shot shout out goes to Mrs. Kway to be in about uh 15 16 weeks and man I remember when I first met her let me get on my soapbox real quick I know she gonna love this I remember when I first
Dating An Accomplished Partner With Confidence
SPEAKER_00met her um there was like an intimidation of her excellence um and I'm I'm being very vulnerable and transparent with y'all like I I didn't know if I stood a snowball's chance in hell at you know garning garnering her attention um we met on the app she reached out to me first but I didn't know you know like how to how to keep her attention you know I mean like so you know not to put her on blast or anything but like she has an incredible resume um you know she graduated from Spelman then she went to Howard Law graduated from there um she was the only black and youngest VP in her division at a a very prestigious place called JP Morgan um she's a she's an attorney um now and you know knowing all of that and then when I met her you know it's like damn you know she had uh properties and you know all kind of shit just it's like she was a woman you know I mean like I wasn't really used to dealing with uh you know a woman that just wasn't shallow but she was also very down to earth having all that behind her and now I'm no slouch I got degrees and letters behind my name you know former athlete and you know um money and and all of that but when you meet somebody of of her stature it was like damn like how am I going to keep this one what can I offer her that somebody else ain't already you know did provided or fucked up before I came and I just remember my mom being in the back of my head like and nobody so my favorite book is called um uh all the places you'll go by dr seuss I know it that's you know hilarious uh and maybe even childish but that book has a lot of free game and a lot of employers assign that book at company retreats and things to motivate their employees but there's a a part of the book where it says nobody's you were than you and my mom always instilled that in me you know God rest her so nobody is me um she only made one of me God only made one of me there's only one K way you know um the the traits and attributes that I've had I have nobody else can be me but me so I kind of just heard that and just went into the relationship with just being myself like I'm I'm genuine I'm big hearted uh there's also no gray with me everything with me in my life is either black and white either either I rock with it or I don't you'll never know like you'll never be in question of where you stand with me and I rock with what I rock with and I don't with what I don't but I'm also not malicious or salacious. If I don't rock with you I just don't rock with you like I don't I don't need to make videos or uh distracts you know what I'm saying like I just disassociate myself from whatever you got going on and whoever you got going on and I keep my life moving and that's the way that I am and nobody is is like like I said nobody I'm nobody's you were than you so knowing that I just stuck to those values and courting and dating her and you know it's been it's been amazing and she's told me that I show up for ways in her that nobody else has ever shown up for just by being a rock silent genuine human if I say something if I say I'm gonna do something I'm gonna do it um and I'm gonna go the extra mile to do it. You know that's just my my personality so um going to therapy and unpacking my traumas bi weekly it also helped stay in this healthy relationship and in this healthy spot um that we're in so you know I just think that it's cool that she is so accomplished but also so down to earth and so cool and and those things don't define her and you know honestly speaking she she's the rhythms she's the she is the rhythm to my blues and and the perfect cook on the tight beat as they said on the great movie Brown Sugar man so um shout out to Mrs. Kway to be you know definitely appreciate you perfect um yeah man so I I just I wanted to kind of just explain and express that like
Holding Love While Grief Exists
SPEAKER_00man let's keep the love going it's summertime um and when you look at what's going on in Mississippi with with brother Noah um it's just it's incredibly saddening and it just makes you realize time and time again the value of black life is is non-existent they don't really value us and you gotta watch your surroundings watch who you hanging around um man I I'm gonna do a separate video on this whole thing I just wanted to make it make today just about the love but man young brother and his family I'm I'm I've prayed for y'all like literally pray for y'all not just typing it out or saying it because it sounds good no I I prayed for y'all and will continue to pray for your peace and comfort during this this crazy time this terrible time um and you know it I don't know man that's that's that's what I have to offer on that right now because it'll it'll take me down the path that I didn't want intend to for today's episode of Heavy on the R and B here with K Wake got to plug that but like I said I wasn't gonna be before y'all long man I'm ready to get into my gripes uh I got because
The Flower Shop Gripe
SPEAKER_00I I definitely got I got a uh something on my mind and I don't know how this is gonna go and like I said on uh the last episode on uh what I was it was it going with the wind we said frankly my dear I don't give a fuck and that's where I'm at with I don't really care how nobody's gonna take this um this is my gripe and I kinda gotta get this you know off my chest so cues the music so Kway's gripes on this episode of Heavy on the RB I was um I was at Dave's flower box right off University or uh El Cahon Boulevard here in in in Dago and it got me thinking you know we gotta start giving people physical flowers and not just the metaphorical flowers so I'm in line and the guy in front of me is asking about the prices of the roses or whatever and and the flowers and he's throwing a fit like nah I just go to Trader Joe's and you know they they it's cheaper but you know like he going off and I'm noticed like he got J's on his feet you know I'm assessing the situation like you know rare he got Chinese New Year J's on his feet he got he's driving a really nice Audi and I I thought it was a Lamborghini as nice as that shit was and I'm not trying to pocket watch but it got me to thinking like damn like what's up with it where the intentionality go now look I don't have no hate or no smoke for Trader Joe's I love Trader Joe's there's nothing wrong with store bought store bought flowers if if that's what you can afford nothing wrong with that at all we all gotta act our wage in this economy but at the same time man Dave's flower box is not that ex not that expensive so you know getting that out the way I don't have no smoke for for Trader Joe's so I'm in line I watching him throw this fit he store him off and he go to Trader Joe's I guess or whatever so um and it just got me to thinking like man like we we have lost intentionality and I think the hook the the historical context and and stats of this is like damn we we've lost the chase why court someone when the explore page gives you instant gratification the mystery is gone you can see uh TNA or or gray sweatpan pics anytime you open up Instagram you got OnlyFans you you got you could you got handheld porn at your phone shit back in my day you you used to have to wait to after 10 p.m on cinemax we called it Skinemax and and and then you had to uh you had to turn it to ESPN or something just in case your your mama came downstairs so you can hit the back button real quick you know that way she don't know you watching that shit I know it ain't just me I know I know I ain't the only one that you know was young and promiscuous but it also got me to thinking man with the thrill being gone um US marriage rates have dropped nearly 60% over the last 50 years and I think that reflects family reunions you know we don't have set family reunions are down 75% I don't think that's all of it a lot of that is because don't nobody want to go around an uncle that touched them and and act like they cool but we'll talk about that on another episode but you know grandparents are getting significantly younger you know the grandmama is probably 56 the the daughter is 42 and the granddaughter is 24 and then you know the great grandchild is eight or you know 12 like it's crazy the dynamic is crazy right now so when you're dealing with that it's no wonder why you know he's tripping out over flowers and he drives an Audi that looks like a Porsche and got Chinese New Year Jordans on and you know maybe he doesn't see see it fit to be intentional with his woman and then uh also the cultural critique of all of this um you know the viral moments we weaponized the word simp just like they did with woke and they turned it into something bad it's it's a toxic internet narrative and it's like when did showing up for your partner get labeled as soft corny or simp? Especially a black woman I don't think there's nothing soft about showing up for a black woman or any woman in your life that you love. And the standard should be you treat your partner with respect. Treating your partner with respect is the ultimate
Respect Is The Real Luxury
SPEAKER_00flex in luxury providing a safe space for your partner is the ultimate flex um in in value system. When I look at young men when I look at my guy son my guys alias I I want to be the motto of what a real man looks like for him what a real man isn't afraid to be intentional or be vulnerable and also at the same time be solid. Because best believe it's a lot of us out here like myself you know we can get our woman flowers and you know we can make dinner for them but we can also protect her and knock a nigga head off his fucking shoulders if it comes to it. So The question is, are people even buying flowers anymore? Or did we replace them with an edible arrangement twice a year on Mother's Day, Easter, or her birthday? Like, do people really understand what it's like to go and pick out flowers or roses? Me, I took a class on this, man. Growing up, my dad got my mother flowers every Friday, in which in return, I do the same with Mrs. K. Way to be. Now, I've slacked a few weeks. I apologize. Um, but we got back on track this week. So I'm gonna give y'all some free game. Fellas, if you listen and pull up a chair, get your PN and some paper out, or open up your notes tab um on your phone because um
Rose Colors And Their Meanings
SPEAKER_00I'm about to really just enlighten y'all and give y'all, you know, some some free game. So the rose, man, every rose color is different and it has meaning and intention. Red is for deep love romance or the classic, like I'm yours statement. You know, everybody does that. So some some like some y'all may not know about is yellow. That's that's my fraternity flower. Shout out to the brothers of Iodified Theta Fraternity Incorporated. Yellow means friendship, joy, or positive energy. You also got white, purity, fresh starts, new beginnings. Not a lot of pure people left in this world. A lot of y'all can't wear your white dress to the wedding. Not judging, let's get past that one. You also got pink, that's happiness, gratitude, or admiration. Like I the ultimate I appreciate you rose. Um, and then in some places that are a little more fourth, uh forthright or you know, have better quality of weather and air, you can get you an orange roll. That's anticipation, energy, passion, etc. So those are the colors of those different roses, and you know, when next time you go to pick out a rose or or some flowers, man, just do some research. Do like provide some intention, get the card and write something on there from the heart. Because if you really don't mean it, should you really be buying the roses anyway? I don't know, man. I think the call to action for me is to bring the old school love back, and that's what I try to do with my platform. That's why it's centered around RB. Um, you know, you gotta have the rhythm with the blues, it ain't all just doom and gloom over here. Don't just check the box, know exactly why you pick those flowers and let them know what you mean by it. I don't know, man. We gotta start doing a better job of putting a period at the end of love and not a comma. We gotta keep it heavy on the RB. Rhythms in the blues of life. Man, that is my gripe. For this week, I just wanted to hop on here with y'all real quick, man, and get my thoughts out on that. And like I said, uh catch me in these YouTube streets, you know, with content cruising with K-Way that drops on the weekends, um, preferably Saturday morning. This weekend was tough though, honestly, because uh
Wrap Up And What’s Next
SPEAKER_00I intended to drop it Saturday morning, but when I did upload it, they blocked the video because tracks on there from WMG Warner Music Group were not um, I guess, permitted, and that's the first time that happened to me. So um it dropped on uh Sunday, but you know, it's it's good to get some old school tunes in you and you know vibe out. Um, yeah, so we got that. We got heavy on the RB, the podcast that's available everywhere, and then daybreak, you know, I try to do that when I can during the week. But honestly, man, honestly speaking, being fully transparent with this new raise, um, raise with this new promotion. I'm really gonna take a step back and pour into um my professional career because at the end of the day, you got to keep the main thing the main thing, and it's fun creating content, but also this don't define me. Um, and I don't it ain't like I got you know millions of followers or whatever. You know, it's a passion project for me. So catch me where you can, whenever you can. But in the meantime, in between time, I appreciate y'all's ears for allowing me to invade your spaces, your homes, um, you know, your eardrums for a little bit. And I appreciate all the birthday wishes on this past Wednesday and all of the support, man. Whether it's one, two, three people, whatever, man, is greatly appreciated. Um, oh, before I go, um, so I'm starting to put a couple tracks out there, and uh, I know there's this whole thing around AI, whatever, but I'm not I'm not assigned to a label, I'm not making money off of it. It's not on DSPs, it's only on YouTube, it's a passion project, and it's uh and the the songs are are going to be chronologically um telling the love story of me and Mrs. Kateway. Um so look out for that. It's kind of gonna be more along the lines of an audiobook, and um yeah, looking for that. It's gonna be a good it's gonna be a good time. So, anyways, man, in the meantime, in between time, please be safe in these these streets. Look up, look for your surroundings wherever you go, be kind to each other. And you know what I say every weekend, man. Please put value in yourself, put value in each other, and we'll have a value society. Peace.
