In 2012, the pinnacle of cinema that is Citizen Kane.. after 50 years, was finally dethroned as Sight and Sound's greatest movie of all time! By which film you ask? None other than Alfred Hitchcock's Vertigo (1958)! Part detective procedural, part ghost story, part murder mystery, and ALL of a MASTERPIECE, Vertigo is a movie that invites discussion and journey, full of intrigue and forces re-watches! It is difficult to even pen words in regards to Vertigo, but at the same time Hitchcock creates surprisingly approachable films that are just an absolute BLAST to take part in. Movies are our favorite art form, and Hitchcock has done more to influence the art of filmmaking maybe than any other director EVER, and this film is the epitome of that and potentially Hitchcock's pièce de ré·sis·tance!
