But we would love to have you come along as we journey throughout the greatest artform in history, cinema! We are going through the process of watching movies, discussing their ins, outs, themes, cinematography, directors, actors, how the film made us FEEL. And we are reading books on movie critique and review, while just laughing our way through the podcast and having a blast. So come and let's talk cinema together, and even grow and learn in our movie critique, discussion, and review repertoire. I truly believe deep diving into movies and reviewing films only creates a deeper fascination with this beautiful artform. This is a movie review podcast for the person searching for people that do not take themselves serious, enjoy laughing, comedy, self(cohost)-deprecating humor, and deep and fantastical movie discussions.Movies are magic, and they make up the very fabric of my DNA, so I would love the chance for you to come and nerd out with us as we watch as many as humanly possible and then talk about them- what's better than that!? The Electric State, Novocaine, Black Bag, Deep Red (1975) Movie Reviews
Is 'The Electric State' just a diet coke 'Ready Player One,' or is it worthy of the $320 million dollar budget Netflix gave the Russo brothers!? We discuss this, plus, we debate if Anthony and Joe Russo were just caretakers for Kevin Feige and his MCU, or does their latest entry prove their directorial prowess!?
The Electric State is next in the long line of Netflix enormously budgeted blockbusters, starring Chris Pratt, Millie Bobby Brown, Woody Harrelson as Mr. Peanut, that's right, and more! But can money buy a good movie? Let's discuss this and what this means for the state of cinema!
Up next is our favorite nepo baby, Jack Quaid, and his new picture 'Novocaine.' Another spoiler-free review and discussion of Novocaine and if it holds its own water, or another limb from the John Wick tree.
Thirdly, our second film from Mr. Steven Soderbergh this year alone, 'Black Bag.' Black Bag is akin to hard sci-fi but for a spy-thriller, think more concepts and ideas told through a lot of dialogue and less gunplay. And guess what, it works, phenomenally. Join us as we discuss this film more in depth in a spoiler-free discussion and allow us to convince you to spend your hard-earned time and money watching this movie on the big screen.
Next but CERTAINLY not least, allow us to introduce the beautiful and dark Italian genre of film, known as Giallo, with one of its finest submissions ever- Dario Argento's 'Deep Red' (1975). Deep Red is a cult classic, a movie that had an entire era in a chokehold when it came out and it hasn't loosened its black leather gloved grip since. We deep dive into Deep Red, pun, and also discuss giallo as a whole. What makes a film giallo, why are they so darn lipstick red, dark, and sexy? And why do we keep coming back for more.
Come expand your film knowledge and talk movies with us, we'd love to have you! And boy, we span a wide variety of films in this episode, please let us know if you love the spectrum in a hopefully earned 5-star review please and thank you!
And, as always, we watch WAY more movies than you!
