Jesus, Whiskey, And Question Marks
Welcome to "Jesus, Whiskey, and Question Marks" — where pouring a glass is just the beginning! Join us for a laid-back exploration of faith as we ponder the Bible’s greatest mysteries over a smooth whiskey.
We’re here to spark conversations, not claim all the answers. In each episode, we take a lighthearted look at how some unknowable aspects of faith have been turned into rigid doctrines, sometimes missing the point of Jesus’ message.
Pull up a chair, pour yourself a drink, and let’s dive into some big questions together. It’s all about the journey, the curiosity, and yes, a bit of whiskey-induced wisdom. Cheers to the adventure!
Jesus, Whiskey, And Question Marks
Re-Hitching the Old Testament
In this episode I'm joined by the brilliant and beautiful Natasha Cowden. We discuss the importance of the Old Testament to the Christian faith. We discuss how if we don't run from the hard and weird, but do a little study, we find that there is great significance. We also talk about how the Bible isn't a tale of two stories or two gods, but rather one story about Jesus, and Yahweh is the same throughout.
I planned to provide links to a sermon series by Andy Stanley from 2018 when he famously made a statement about Christians needing to unhitch our faith from the Old Testament. Unfortunately, I was unable to locate the sermon series on North Point Community Church's website. I don't want to misrepresent his statements by linking out of context clips, so I will leave you with the link to their sermons and let the listener do with it what they will.
That which is good, right, and true that comes out of our mouths if from the Spirit, everything else is from our sinful hearts.
