We go off the page this week to take a look at the rural business climate, and explain why we are closing our own retail office supply store and fully committing our resources to our media and marketing business to better serve the businesses, organizations and individuals in our community and region. We also update you on a shift towards transparency by local governments, and explain the role we've played in fostering — or forcing — greater openness by public officials. Finally, we look at the impact transparency has had locally on public involvement and public discourse — for better or worse — and tell you why it is all for the better, even when it feels like we're witnessing the worst.
