The Age of Digital Dentistry

Fluoride, Private Interests, and High Carb Diets

Dr. Jesse Myers Season 1 Episode 2

In this episode of The Age of Digital Dentistry, I had the great pleasure of interviewing Dr. Philippe Hujoel on his amazing paper “Private Interests and the Start of Fluoride-Supplemented High-Carbohydrate Nutritional Guidelines”. This conversation was truly enlightening as he systematically unpacks how private interests and conflicts of interests played a significant role in the start of public health endorsements of fluoride-supplemented high-carbohydrate nutritional guidelines. Dr. Hujoel is a professor of oral health sciences at the University of Washington’s school of dentistry and adjunct professor of epidemiology. He has served on numerous roles within the ADA.
