Speaker 1:

What's going on, everybody, and welcome to the second ever full-length episode of the Green Check Guys podcast. I'm absolutely honored to have my co-host, jonathan, over here to the left of me, and now you can see that because we have a camera. Jono, how are you feeling about being back?

Speaker 2:

Good, I'm excited to be back. I'm excited to be in front of the camera now. I know we just got that set up. I'm just excited to get rolling with it. We got a lot of good stuff to talk about today and definitely do.

Speaker 1:

I'm excited yeah, I mean one thing for sure. I mean you.

Speaker 2:

You've been here the whole time since I've got the camera right the camera's been around for a year and probably six months right a year and a half. A year and a half at this point for sure this is our first time ever really breaking it out.

Speaker 1:

We broke it out for the uh raheem cash episode rip cash right and all you know I never got to put that episode out because tales from tigerland got shut down, unfortunately. But, rip cash, I know you up there watching over us and I know you proud of the green check guys and the route that we're gonna go. Oh yeah, with this thing, oh yeah. But I mean, I know you kind of mentioned it already a little bit. John, how do you feel being in front of the camera?

Speaker 2:

I'm excited. Uh, I think it definitely brings a different aspect of what we're doing. Um, definitely, like you said, we were talking about it early and shows like it's our saving grace and like, yeah, I mean, you just get a lot more viewers on youtube and we're excited for you guys to see that with us as well right.

Speaker 1:

I mean, my favorite thing about having the camera is you know how many episodes that I've had through tales from tiger land and even through green check. I've mentioned it. Like you realize, how cool it'd be to have a camera right now so you could see this happen right exactly how many times have you heard me say that as a host of a podcast?

Speaker 1:

no, a lot, I mean, I've said it oh yeah many, many times yeah and without a doubt, and and we got that, we're here, we got a camera. Follow us on instagram at green check guys. Right, I'm going to put it, since I'm able to do that and I'm pretty well trained on the whole video editing thing. Now I'm getting good where you want it at.

Speaker 2:

Jono, tell me where you want it, it's up to you point it out point it out good put it right there, like right here in the middle, right there, all right, perfect, that's where it'll go our instagram will be right there where jono pointed at go follow it.

Speaker 1:

I appreciate you guys tuning in, and jono, without further ado, I think we should go ahead and get rolling. I think we got a really nice topic to talk, I agree. So in our last episode we were able to cover the nfl draft because we recorded what two, three days after the draft right, still kind of a fresh talk.

Speaker 2:

A little bit about it.

Speaker 1:

For sure, we touched on it we talked pretty good about it, but the thing we didn't get into is how we think these players will be able to perform in their new homes with their new teams and the new facilities. One thing I'm going to say before we get completely into it and we pull out our list that we created for ourselves to be able to talk about before we get into it. I was looking at a picture of Xavier worthy walking into the chief's locker room. It's a major letdown going from the locker rooms you see in college, like at LSU, at UT, at Alabama.

Speaker 2:

Oh yeah, for sure, I saw that, eugene Oregon, you know.

Speaker 1:

University of Oregon. He looked so sad. Yeah, I mean it's empty, bro. I literally had a better locker room in high school baseball. Yeah, I'm almost confident of it.

Speaker 2:

And our locker room was a legit freaking shit dude. Yeah, that cheese, that cheese locker room looked kind of sad yeah, I mean, it's it's bare, like it's it's bare nothing.

Speaker 1:

So it's a complete downgrade to make that. Like you would think, going to the nfl, you're already making these millions of dollars and stuff like you could buy the freaking locker room if you wanted to. But yeah, I mean it is a major downgrade. These college kids are absolutely spoiled nowadays and then to have to like take that step down, especially with them getting paid now for sure, you know, like the nil really changed everything, but I'm kind of I was dragging that topic out a little bit. We'll go ahead and get right into what we had to say today. Uh, this is going to be our list of draft picks and futures with their team. Jono, I'll let you start off your list If you'd like. What's your number one guy that you want to talk about?

Speaker 2:

Well, I kind of want to do Jaden Daniels first. I mean, I guess we got that LSU bias kind of showing. But I like Jaden Daniels a lot and it's hard not to. From what he brings to the football field, I think there's some areas of improvement for sure. Um, especially I feel like when we were at games there was a lot of times where you didn't see him really talking to his teammates all that much. He wasn't being like you know that on the field leader that he needed to be, so hopefully in the nfl he can really go out there and do that. Um, but like from a pure athleticism standpoint, I think he's. He's the best, one of the best qb's, if not the best qb in the draft. I think he's better than caleb williams, which is the next guy you're gonna talk about, right?

Speaker 1:

yeah, exactly but I think jayden daniels has an opportunity to perform really well. I think what we've seen of him in college is not even the maximum potential that we could see of him in the program also also, like we talked about with the turf thing.

Speaker 1:

I hope that never happens. Happens to Jaden Daniels, of course, and bar none. If that does not happen, jaden Daniels will be one of the greatest quarterbacks you've watched. That's a Skip Bayless-type. Take right there. But hey, keep that in mind, right there, keep that in your mind. He's going to be bigger in the city of Washington than your boy John Wall ever was. Because that's the only notable Washington Michael. Because that's the only notable Washington Michael Jordan he was there for a minute.

Speaker 2:

He was there for a minute, but he sucked when he was in Washington. He did, though he was old, right, kind of like Vince Carter.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, vc's kind of a goat though.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I would like to see Jaden Daniels also put on a little bit of weight in the NFL.

Speaker 1:

He would be a dog.

Speaker 2:

He might be a touch skinny and he likes to put the move on a lot of guys, but he also likes to throw down his shoulders sometimes. You know what I mean and he's taken some big hits in college. I'm kind of surprised he's gotten up from some of them. He got smoked on a couple plays and it was like you know, you put your shoulder down. He's kind of running with his head up.

Speaker 1:

I mean, that's the same thing we said about Joe Burrow though, when Joe Burrow was making those runs, and he never changed it, and lamar lamar lamar jackson.

Speaker 2:

I mean he kind of runs with a setup and puts the move on a lot of guys right. But I feel like jayden daniels can either be in that area, in that aspect of a quarterback, or he put on a little bit of weight and and be be. I think he would be even better than he is now.

Speaker 1:

Um, I totally agree with that take, I think if he put on just a little bit of weight, because those, those d linemen in the NFL, those are all of like. You played one to two great D linemen at LSU during your time here, you played against Alabama with a couple of good guys. You played against Georgia with a couple of good guys. Those NFL defensive lines are every good guy you played against put into one but turned into five of them.

Speaker 2:

Oh yeah, ever To copy-paste. Played against, put into one ever, but turned into five of them.

Speaker 1:

Oh yeah, ever to copy paste the same biggest dude you just seen, right? I mean it's, it's ridiculous. It's it's crazy how great these nfl defensive guys are. But I'm gonna go ahead and get into my number one guy I wanted to talk about, and that's caleb williams. I think with caleb williams we saw all we were going to be able to see out of him in college. I think he already hit his ceiling. I know a lot of people are very high on him I think a lot of people are super high on him.

Speaker 1:

Everybody's riding that wave and everybody thinks, oh, he's going to be one of the greatest quarterbacks we ever watched. I don't think so. Sure he's athletic, sure he's got a lot of athleticism, a lot, a fairly good arm. You know, I'll compliment him on that. He's got a good arm, he's accurate. But I think he tries to do too much and a lot of times, even in like situations where it really matters, like he'll try to prove that he is the hero instead of putting it on his team's back and not just his own Right. I think he's got to get out of his own head and if he's able to break his own mind, he really might be one of the greatest quarterbacks we've watched.

Speaker 2:

Right.

Speaker 1:

Until he can do that, his ceiling's already been shown, and that was when he won the heisman that I was gonna say that was.

Speaker 2:

I agree with that, because when he won the heisman you know that was arguably a great season, right, but it was just I felt like it was just. It was just him. He was just worried about him, about the stat stuff, like you know what I mean right, sling the ball as far as he can, run the ball as fast as he can.

Speaker 1:

You know what I mean mean he already knew he was going to be the number one pick. He did Before this season.

Speaker 2:

He had started, he could have said the thing that I can kind of like compare him to. I feel like he's no better than Justin Fields. I feel like he's not. No, he's going to be in the same realm.

Speaker 1:

It's going to be a letdown. I mean, it's still Chicago. You know when's the last time Chicago's had a notable team, 1985. Brian Urlacher, he wasn't, I mean, they weren't notable when he was around, not very.

Speaker 1:

They had a couple of playoff games and stuff, right, but I mean, the last time we talked about them, mike Ditka was the head coach, yeah. And then Mike Ditka came to the Saints. Yeah, I'm not gonna say it because you know, but you know what mike dick did to the saints, yeah, you know. You know what he did. With that being said, john, let's talk about your two guy.

Speaker 2:

Let's see my number two guy. Um, guy, I'm really high on, uh, michael, michael pennix. I like michael pennix, granted, I don't think the falcons needed to draft him. I think that was a a horrible call. Yeah, I don't think they need to do that, especially after you signed kirk cousins for that amount of money. Um, I know they traded desmond ritter. You know I get that. And who would your backup be? I feel like maybe they're trying to invest in a better backup. You know, for the time being, right, I definitely think there's a lot of quarterbacks and I think you could see that with the bangles, like joe burrow, and the backup is what, jake browning. You know what I mean right and you're.

Speaker 2:

You know you go from a playoff contention team to to, not just because of your backup qb. I feel like maybe atlanta's kind of trying to prepare for that. You know, if kurt goes down which he has before, you know what I mean. He suffered some pretty gruesome injuries he has you know. So if that happens again, panics is going to fill in really nice I think atlanta is a good spot for him.

Speaker 1:

I and the reason being like I hate the atlanta falcons passionately. I'm a saints fan. We talked about that in the last episode we're biased towards the saints and if you're a saints fan, you absolutely hate the hell out of the atlanta falcons. I agree, and that's what I do. I hate the falcons. That's what I was born to do. That's what god put me on this earth for is to hate the atlanta falcons. Who that?

Speaker 1:

but with that being said, I think atlanta is a very good situation for him and the reason that is is because kirk cousins is a super great quarterback, a very good guy in the locker room, and I don't think kirk would have any issue helping him get to the potential that that Michael Penix Jr has.

Speaker 2:

He's got, as we've seen so much ball knowledge.

Speaker 1:

he's literally Tua with more ball knowledge and not a noodle arm. Yeah, he's a left-handed QB about the same size. There's not a whole lot different between him and Tua, other than the fact that he throws better and is an all-around better QB. Tua just has a great coach with some great weapons.

Speaker 2:

That's the only reason you see, tua Tua has a great coach. I think so, you like Mike McDaniels. I love him, I'm high on that wave dude. I think he's so funny.

Speaker 1:

I think he's hilarious.

Speaker 2:

Whenever?

Speaker 1:

he was doing the bills whenever they're practicing to go play the bills during the snow game or whatever and he was out there in a short sleeve like cut off.

Speaker 2:

You ever seen him ripping his vape? Yeah, on the sideline he puts a playbook right here he rips his vape. That's so funny.

Speaker 1:

Speaking of vapes, bro, you're a cat. If you hit them vapes, no hitting me. That's what I think. That's what I think personally. But that'll bring me to my number two guy. Do you have anything else to say about michael pennix before?

Speaker 2:

no, I like michael pennix a lot he's got. He's got great pocket awareness. That's the biggest thing that I've seen in college. He knows where the defenders are. He's just, he knows Right. I think if it weren't for Jaden he would have probably won the high.

Speaker 1:

I agree, I mean he was an absolute dog. But my number two guy was one of Jaden Daniels' favorite targets Mr Malik Neighbors going to the Giants. And here's where I stand on Malik to the Giants. And here's where I stand on Malik to the Giants. I think Daniel Jones entering the last season of a contract, I think Daniel Jones is about to get the biggest deal of possibly any quarterback. Daniel Jones, I think so.

Speaker 2:

I don't think he's that I like Tommy.

Speaker 1:

DeVito. I don't think Daniel Jones is as bad as people say he is. Name one guy he's been able to throw to in his career Kadarius Toney what the hell are you going to say good about? Kadarius Toney.

Speaker 2:

Wandale Robinson.

Speaker 1:

There's not that much good to say about him yet either. Sterling, Shepard, I mean all those guys are going to shine when you put Malik in there in the locker room with him and put him on the left side and do whatever you want with the guy. That's going to make the other receivers more open because you're going to be paying a lot of attention to the star that just came out of Louisiana State University which a star is what he is, I think he's better than Marvin Harrison.

Speaker 2:

He's so fast, marvin.

Speaker 1:

Harrison Jr. I think he's better. I think he is too. I think there's a lot of things better that you could say about malik neighbors than what you could say about harrison, other than his pedigree. Like marvin, harrison's daddy was a great nfl wide receiver. That's the only thing that you could say about harrison. That's that much better than malik neighbor.

Speaker 2:

I feel like that's like the only reason he won the belitnikoff in college his name because of his daddy, and if you know somebody, you're pretty much in any situation you know like we wouldn't.

Speaker 1:

We wouldn't be worried about getting views and shit like that on this podcast if we knew the right people, if we do somebody that knew somebody you know right. But that's why we got to work for what we get, right and that's what we're gonna do that's why we got a camera that people could see what we're doing oh, yeah, we got a new soundboard a new computer.

Speaker 1:

everything's running right for the green check guys. That's why everything's going well is because we work for what we got and this is ours. I agree, but I mean, what do you have to say about Malik Dude?

Speaker 2:

I love Malik. He's fast, he's got great hands. You know what I mean. Right, he's not big, but look, I told you the story of when I went to the EREC and I was hooping against Malik Neighbors and some of those LSU football players over there. Malik Neighbors is not much bigger than me, you know what I mean. He was like an inch or two taller tops and he was skinny. He's got crazy hops, crazy hops. He can jump crazy high, he can run crazy fast and I think that's what you want to see.

Speaker 1:

And if you can do those two things and catch a ball, well, you're going to be an incredible wide receiver.

Speaker 2:

I think also a good thing is the amount of games he played in college. He really did not miss many games, right? He didn't, even though he was what here for two years.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I mean he got the full experience.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, he was here for two years why he was able to be so successful. Hopefully he can keep it up with daniel jones. I'm a little suspect to that take of yours. I don't I. I personally don't see anything in daniel jones yet I don't know. I like tyra taylor a little better. A little better because he was the guy playing too.

Speaker 1:

Say that again, bro Tyron Taylor, you put a little country accent.

Speaker 2:

Tyron.

Speaker 1:

Taylor, that better.

Speaker 2:

He's a little better. A little better, he's a little better. That little country accent Tommy DeVito, tommy DeVito too.

Speaker 1:

Tommy DeVito is a dog, but I mean, but I like the league. Daniel Jones will not be talked about the way he's currently talked about. You think it's?

Speaker 2:

going to change? I think it's going to change after week two.

Speaker 1:

That's what I think.

Speaker 2:

It's a crazy take.

Speaker 1:

And I'll leave that silence in there, just because the silence speaks for itself. It's a crazy take. I mean, Truss, bro, you heard it here first and listen. One day you're going to go back and you're going to be like damn, somebody said Daniel Jones is going to get a big contract. Who was that guy? And you're going to be like oh, that was that dude from Green Check, that dude, charleston Payne, that knows what he's talking about. Because that's what we are here. We're what, jono, we're experts.

Speaker 2:

Is that right Experts?

Speaker 1:

Don't put no quotes around that. Yeah, experts.

Speaker 2:

Don't put no quotes around that. Yeah, we're experts.

Speaker 1:

We experts around here, around these parts. But, jono, go ahead. Let me hear your number three guy.

Speaker 2:

I'm excited, I think arguably my favorite of the ones that we picked. Kool-aid McKinstry Saints just drafted him. I'm super excited to see what he can do. He was an absolute dog at Alabama. I think he's're gonna fit in really well with paulson adibo and marshall latimore and and I think we still have marcus may don't we?

Speaker 1:

yeah, marcus and tyron matthew and tyron matthew.

Speaker 2:

I think we got arguably one of the best defenses in the league granted. Our offense is suspect. That's not gonna change. That's not gonna change.

Speaker 1:

So we still got the same head coach, I agree, but back to what we thought but last episode.

Speaker 2:

But our defense is great.

Speaker 1:

Our GMs and NOLA are dog shit. I'm not going to run off on that, but go ahead. Continue, no, yeah.

Speaker 2:

But I like him. I think we made a great pick with Kool-Aid McKinstry. He locked down at Alabama.

Speaker 1:

He did, could tell he locked us, he locked us down, he did, he did a lot. My, my take on kool-aid is a lot of people didn't like kool-aid because our didn't like us picking him because he only has what two, three interceptions throughout right, he doesn't have a ton of interceptions if you look at, his past is defended, right. I mean, there weren't many people catching balls on the guy and that's what you want a db like exactly.

Speaker 1:

He doesn't need to catch everything if he was good at catching the ball, he'd be a damn wide receiver. Right, he's a db. Let that man be a defensive back. You don't have to intercept every ball that comes your way, as long as you don't let the guy trying to catch it catch it.

Speaker 1:

You've done your job and I think you're worthy of another contract at that point you know like if you're, if you're at the point like you're playing like rents do and you just you don't have to get all these. Oh, he made a one-handed interception like that's cool and all and that gives us something to talk about on the podcast. But at the end of the season, when we're talking about numbers here at the end of the nfl season and we look back and kool-aid's deflected or defended well and didn't let, only let like 5% of balls get caught on him, then you're going to realize oh shit, that guy, charlie and Jono were right from the Green Jack guys yet again.

Speaker 2:

I feel like Dennis Allen has a huge part to play in how good our defense has been, but Dennis Allen on our offensive end is just bad.

Speaker 1:

And that's my thing on him. I think Dennis Allen is one of the greatest defensive coaches and defensive coordinators of all time.

Speaker 2:

I think he's one of the best, he's good. One of the best to ever do it, he's good.

Speaker 1:

But whenever you throw him in the head coaching role, he's proven to not be good at being a head coach, and it's okay, some guys are like that.

Speaker 2:

I think he's a great defensive coordinator and defensive coordinator only Because the second he has to start worrying about the offense. I feel like he just doesn't have it. Yeah, he just doesn't.

Speaker 1:

I just don't, I don't like it I don't like it either, but guess what we got to deal with.

Speaker 2:

I agree you want to go ahead with your third I'll go with my number three, and for me I got jj mccarthy oh, the fourth one's crazy to the vikings.

Speaker 1:

I got jj to the vikings very exciting pick. I think the vikings made a good move trading up to get him. I don't think he's the best quarterback in this draft. Of course we already discussed that guy and there's a guy we're not going to talk about on this just because he's not going to do shit, even though that's all y'all talked about is how good he's going to be, because he looks like a good quarterback. Drake may is not going to be shit. I don't think so either. I don't think so either. I don't think, but what I do think. I think JJ McCarthy has the weapons around him and he didn't really have those wide receiver weapons in Michigan to really be able to show what all he had.

Speaker 1:

All he really had was Roman Wilson, and that's about it. That's about it. I mean, he can hand the ball off to Corum, but I'm surprised, honestly, not to get off topic here.

Speaker 2:

I'm kind of surprised blake quorum went that low.

Speaker 1:

He went, you know, late second round, I think yeah and but that's kind of the norm for running backs nowadays. You don't want to give them that first round bonus because you never know what they're going to do right saquon barkley only played like a maybe 17 games of his rookie contract right, and that's a four-year contract. Like that's not what you want to see. 17 games is how many games are in a season nowadays, and you don't want that kind of production out of your guy, so you don't want to pay him first-round money.

Speaker 2:

I think I like McCarthy, though in Minnesota I think he's got the weapons With Justin Jefferson, With Justin Jefferson Hunter Renfro's there now.

Speaker 1:

Right, I mean a lot of people didn't like him at the Raiders.

Speaker 2:

And is it cj uzoma? No, no, it's not cj uzoma. Where?

Speaker 1:

does he play now?

Speaker 2:

speaking of I mean, I know tj hawkinson I thought tj played for the bears.

Speaker 1:

No, I mean not the bears, the lions hawk did. No, I don't know, bro, I might not know. I'm no. Y'all aren't even gonna listen to this podcast, no more. After you hear what the hell I was just saying no like we're gonna have to do a little bit of research right quick. So so bear with us for a second.

Speaker 2:

Who is the oh, and they just got aaron jones. They oh, and jordan addison.

Speaker 1:

They do have jordan addison, jordan addison I told you last year, tj hawkinson's, tj hawkinson's still there. Yeah, now I want to know who the Lions tight end is.

Speaker 2:

That's for after the episode Sam Laporta.

Speaker 1:

How am I just mixing all these guys up, sam Laporta? I don't know.

Speaker 2:

And Dalton Kincaid with Buffalo.

Speaker 1:

I don't get it but and Jimmy Graham with the Saints. Jj McCarthy is going to be a beast in Minnesota.

Speaker 2:

I think he is. He's got tons of weapons.

Speaker 1:

And then they just got Aaron Jones.

Speaker 2:

So he can either check it down or hand it off, doesn't matter. Got great, great wide receivers out there. Jefferson Addison, you know what I mean? Renfro, renfro, they're going to. I mean, the Vikings might be a force to be reckoned with.

Speaker 1:

I mean, you see what the they have a decent quarterback, like what?

Speaker 2:

kirk at his prime kirk cousins.

Speaker 1:

Whenever he was, when he wasn't hurt, it was an absolute dog, unless it was prime time, because kirk, not prime time cousins, is his nickname. That's his middle name. Yeah, he struggled in prime time. He's never been good in prime time. I don't understand it. Like I don't understand how you could perform so well on a on a sunday noon game and then sunday, sunday 325 game and, and then you play Sunday at 730, monday at 730 or Thursday night football and you just are absolute trash. I don't really understand that. But I hope that's not.

Speaker 2:

I think McCarthy.

Speaker 1:

I think Kirk is a Hall of Fame quarterback. John, let's talk about your number four guy.

Speaker 2:

I love the number four guy, he's awesome. I like Xavier Leggett. I took Xavier Leggett from theolina panthers played at south carolina. I think his interview is what made me say that right, because his interview was awesome. You know, if, if you, if you weren't real country, you didn't know what he was saying. You know yeah or if you hadn't hung around with somebody that was real country, you wouldn't know what he was saying. Um no, I understood every word.

Speaker 1:

Yeah shout out to me probably yeah, you and back home I got a little bit of southern twang. Yeah, I tune it down a little bit whenever I'm, whenever I'm being professional or whatever, like talking on the podcast and stuff, so you can't really tell. Oh yeah, I kind of changed my voice, something like you.

Speaker 2:

You know that and I've talked to like some of the farm boys back home. You know that, right, all they do is is work on the farm and stuff and they're kind of the same way. So it's kind of a blend. It was kind of funny. And then I saw on tiktok a highlight of xavier laguette and george straight. It was awesome. I just sent it to you. Yeah, you gotta send me that I haven't gotten on tiktok in forever.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, but that's beside the point yeah I think xavier laguette that will be really and he's a stud and he was great at South Carolina.

Speaker 1:

I think he's going to be good in the pros, I think he's going to be good.

Speaker 2:

Look, Carolina's a suspect too, with Bryce Young. But if anything, he's going to shine because Bryce Young's going to be throwing to him the whole time, Right? You know what I?

Speaker 1:

mean. I mean you got a guy that we know can throw the ball to Adam Thielen Mid, now I mean he was raw.

Speaker 1:

Miles Sanders, Trouble Hubbard. Yeah, Now I went to the Saints-Panthers game. That was the one Saints game I got to go to last year and what I can tell you from watching that game? Bryce Young was not good Really. I think his passing completion percentage, if I'm not mistaken I could be wrong, I mean this was a long time ago, but I think his completion percentage was like 18%. Yeah, that doesn't surprise me. Like that's rough, that's down bad is what the millennials.

Speaker 2:

It's ugly football to watch, though, like watching Bryce Young throw the football. Watching him, you know, get behind center. It's just like so ugly?

Speaker 1:

Yeah, it is hard to watch.

Speaker 2:

Charlie.

Speaker 1:

I say it with a deep breath.

Speaker 2:

I don't like this one. I don't like this one, you know.

Speaker 1:

I'm not a fan of this. I just want to talk about it because it is my Saints pick, you know, and I don't think it's a terrible pick, I think this is one of the most overhyped players ever out of high school going into college. Do I think it's going to stay the same going into the NFL? No, just because I'm a Saints fan. But if I wasn't a Saints fan and I was not biased in this statement, I would definitely say that it's just going to be the same way.

Speaker 2:

The trend's going to be the same.

Speaker 1:

We haven't even said his name yet and if you haven't figured out out and you're a sports fan, I'm not really sure how you didn't come to that conclusion on the way to this, after I said Saints pick Spencer Rattler sucks Most overhyped guy.

Speaker 2:

I don't like Spencer Rattler.

Speaker 1:

I think he's got a chance. I think he's got a chance to do good. I mean, he's got a good system around him, good receivers, all that stuff. He just doesn't have the right guy to learn under in Derek Carr.

Speaker 2:

I don't like Derek Carr either.

Speaker 1:

If you swap him with Michael Penix Jr, I think he might end up being a good quarterback in the NFL after playing under Kirk Cousins. Or you put him under a guy like, I don't know, Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 2:

Right, I think he would be good. See what's crazy is the Jets. Now the Jets drafted Jordan Travis. I like Jordan Travis.

Speaker 1:

I do.

Speaker 2:

You know to be behind Aaron Rodgers, I think he's got a chance to do good.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I think he really does, he does.

Speaker 2:

Even though he hurt himself badly at that, bad, badly at that. You know what I mean. I hope he can hang around and you know, avoid the injuries, but we'll see. I and you know, avoid the injuries, but we'll see. I don't like Spencer Rattler, I just I got nothing for it. Even since Oklahoma days Coming out of high school.

Speaker 1:

Coming out of high school. I loved him. Whenever he got to college I loved him. I was on the hype train. I mean you watch the highlights from the guy in high school and you're like, okay, this dude's the real deal.

Speaker 1:

And then you realize that maybe they were leaving some things out in those, in those highlight clips. I had to have been had something. Something wasn't right with all those highlights. Like he was, he was too damn good in high school to be that damn bad in college and right there, a little bit of that southern twang I was talking about. You know, too damn good I know what you mean, but no man. I mean, did you have any honorable mentions?

Speaker 2:

Maybe not so much from the draft, but definitely of some players who've been signing places. I think OBJ to the Dolphins is crazy. Right, I think that's a lot, I think, with Jalen Waddell and Tua and Tyreek and Tyreek.

Speaker 1:

And Odell. And Odell that's a wild wide receiver core. People don't remember how good Odell is and can be. All you think about is the fact that the last time you saw him, he was tearing his ACL in Super Bowl. I'm not even going to try to remember the number, but it was 2022 when they played the Bengals and he tore his ACL right there at midfield.

Speaker 1:

Again back to the turf problem. I'm sorry that it just keeps over and over leading into this, but it's a legitimate problem. I feel like every name that we mentioned that's a veteran. We also follow that up with tours, achilles, tours acl. In a bad turf did something like. Something happened that went wrong that that possibly altered their career. Now, do I think that altered odell beckham career? No, I do not. Maybe there's a little bias in there as well. That was too biased. But I mean, you've seen what Odell's capable of. I mean you see what the guy does in warm-ups. The dude jumps up, hands between the legs, catches the ball through his legs, not even looking. Sometimes His hands are sticky for one one, there's no other way to say and I might be from the way he likes girls to shit on his chest or whatever, that was pretty weird.

Speaker 1:

That's what. That's absolutely wild. I hope that one day we reach a level with green check guys that we could have some stories like that from, like, pro athletes that would be crazy come out on our show, dude, like imagine that was, imagine like we. Like we got like shit I don't know, like patrick mahomes high school affair or some shit he's been with his like wife for a while too. Yeah, I mean they were together in like eighth grade or something, bro, and she, low-key, looked the same from that first picture they had together.

Speaker 2:

You ever seen that picture on the internet? She?

Speaker 1:

looked the exact same yeah, she did look she looked the exact same. I'm sorry, I wasn't gonna be funny. She was funny to me no I agree, I do agree, but odell to the dolphins. I think that's an incredible move. Yeah, I do. I think that's gonna be awesome I think the nfl.

Speaker 2:

You got any honorable mentions shortly uh, I really don't.

Speaker 1:

My biggest honorable mention is the fact that Harbaugh is back in the NFL to the Chargers. I think the Chargers might shine this year. I think that's my, my biggest thing.

Speaker 2:

I saw this thing on Instagram and it was. It was Joe Burrow. It was Joe Burrow, josh Allen and Justin Justin Herbert. It was like start bench cut between those three.

Speaker 1:

Joe Burrow, josh Josh Allen, justin Herbert, yeah.

Speaker 2:

I'm cutting Justin Herbert. I'm going to go unbiased here.

Speaker 1:

I'm going to cut Justin Herbert, I'm a bench Joe.

Speaker 2:

Really, and I'm starting Josh Allen. No, I'm starting Joe.

Speaker 1:

We've had this conversation at work before. You think, josh Allen. Sucks is what I don't know. The word around town is look, or maybe not sucks.

Speaker 2:

Sucks might have been shout out ty sams, if he ever listens to this yeah, he hates it, but yeah, but he hates. He hates josh. He's the biggest josh allen hater. He quotes it every time we hear josh allen's not a winner and I don't agree with that. I think Josh Allen, especially in this last season, is throwing a ghost out there and just throwing picks left and right. Yeah, I think his choices are questionable.

Speaker 1:

If you judge off last season, though, you can't take Joe. I mean Joe was hurt Kind of a similar theme throughout most of Joe's season so far in the NFL, and it's unfortunate Not really trying to go that route again. But you know what I'm about to say. I don't even think I have to say it. I mean, I think unspoken words can go a long way here, I agree. I mean it's unfortunate that we had to keep. I mean, every single NFL player we talk about has to all fall back underneath that issue, and somehow these other guys are just getting lucky and getting away with it.

Speaker 1:

I don't know how, but I don't know. Back to that Josh Allen, joe Burrow thing, I mean definitely Justin Herbert. That's why I didn't even mention him, because he's not even in the contention, he's not To even be on the bench for that he can sling the rock.

Speaker 2:

He can.

Speaker 1:

Don't get me wrong he's capable to be better than both of those guys, but I don't first of all. I mean, the coaching wasn't there in Los Angeles. No, not at all. I think with Harbaugh.

Speaker 2:

I still remember when it was the San Diego Chargers. I do too.

Speaker 1:

I miss San Diego Chargers. Those were the Drew Brees days. Nobody shows up to Chargers games anymore.

Speaker 2:

No, with them navy blue helmets.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, dude, they were clean, bro I used to always run it with the Chargers on the Maddens bro, Like Madden 10. Like being a little kid growing up bro, my cousins would come over.

Speaker 2:

My friend, I had madden 25. You remember that one that came out in like 2016, 2017, madden 25. I had madden 25. I love that game madden 25 was awesome.

Speaker 1:

That one uh 13 was a really good madden as well, the one with uh I used to have mad, madden 12 on we I still do. Madden 12 was a really I had it on we and it was awesome probably the most controversial cover athlete of all time, though payton illis the fullback, because he had one decent year and then wasn't anything after that but the madden curse.

Speaker 1:

I mean, this is a madden curse that we haven't talked about yet. We could talk about that for a minute before we wrap things up here. The madden curse I definitely believe him like very strongly me too I mean you've seen a lot of guys go completely downhill after they were on the cover. A lot of guys, or if they didn't go completely downhill, the next season went bad for him. I mean, mike vick was on the cover. The next year he gets locked up.

Speaker 2:

We all know what happened there last black left-handed quarterback has been on it, has he?

Speaker 1:

my homes has my home, but he hasn't been touched like there's some guys that are blessed from the curse but like sean alexander wasn't good after he was on 07 um, I don't know.

Speaker 2:

There's a lot of guys that had a very bad downfall from the madden curse, I mean odell, odell, odell could definitely no, that was after that picture that they took when he was still with the giants sitting on that boat yeah but that was also the same year, he was a madden cover. That was, that was madden curse question mark.

Speaker 1:

Maybe you know up. It could be a thing, could it not be a thing? We'll leave that up to you guys to decide, I agree. But with that being said, I think we had an incredible episode today, john. I agree, I'm excited to get this first episode with camera out to the people I'm going to be able to actually see us, hear us talk, see us live talking about this stuff. Let them know that we're real people.

Speaker 2:

We are, we exist. We're not just like AI, you know this is my beautiful face.

Speaker 1:

That's Jono ugly face over there.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, absolutely that's me.

Speaker 1:

You know, I mean me and this guy Jono. We've been best friends for a while now, man. I mean, I pick on him a lot.

Speaker 1:

He picks on me a lot other a hard time but at the end of the day it's all love. You know it's no disrespect between the two of us. I think jono is an absolutely great co-host. I'd put him, like I said in my other podcast, outside the octagon. I would put him definitely his face on the mount rushmore of co-host a podcast. He's definitely a mount rushmore guy. But I think that's a wrap for our second episode full length, our first episode full length with a camera.

Speaker 1:

I think it went incredible, jonna I was very grateful to have you by my side again for this episode. Absolutely, me too, and I'm excited to get this out to the people and let them hear it.
