A note from Tina

“When you think of boudoir photography, what do you imagine? What kind of woman is being photographed? What is she wearing? What does she look like, or not look like? What are her reasons for wanting to be photographed, and what makes her worthy of such an experience? Most of you would use society’s standards of beauty to describe her, and most of you would imagine her as model-esque. Most of you might imagine these photos to be of a very sexual nature based on other boudoir photography you’ve seen, and think of specific poses she might be in. Well, my hope is that my photography helps to undo all of these stereotypes and standards of what boudoir photography is and show you what it’s really about. It’s not about sticking to society’s standard of beauty, it’s not about vanity, and it’s not only meant as a gift for someone else. It’s not only something a woman books for herself when she reaches a certain fitness goal, and it’s not for the male gaze either. Boudoir photography is for her, the everyday woman, and is meant as a way to reconnect with herself through the camera. It’s liberating, empowering, and therapeutic, and an experience that every woman should have for herself. As women, we’ve all struggled with body image—myself included— which is why this kind of photography is so special and personal to me. Working one on one with women, hearing their stories, and photographing them in a way that helps them feel seen is just as therapeutic for me as it is for them. They teach me their own life lessons every day through their self expression and vulnerability. If you’re a woman who is interested in learning about boudoir photography and how it can make a difference in your life, you should listen to this episode. If you’re a photographer who is curious about getting into boudoir photography or starting a photography business, you should listen to this podcast. If you’re like most others who isn’t quite sure why boudoir photography holds so much space and significance these days, you should listen to this podcast.”
