Greetings friends. My name is Reverend Dr Ray Francis. I would like to welcome you to our podcast about the journey you are never alone. The journey you are never alone is what we're looking at that idea that, although you may be feeling lots of different things, we're going to take some opportunities. We're going to explore some ideas about faith and how we as Christians or we as considering Christians might think about discipleship and might think about how we go about being closer to Christ. You see, the key idea that we're working with right now is the idea that life is a journey. It's filled with joys and challenges and, no matter how you look at it, you are never alone.
Speaker 1:The Christian life is very oftentimes talked about as a journey and we walk that path. We walk that path with God every step of the way. God every step of the way times of trials, times of joy, times of loneliness, and yet we know God's presence is constant. We can see that even in Psalm 23, verse 4,. So when we feel alone, we can rely on the idea that God is with us, and God reminds us of that through many different ways. You see, as Christians, we need to focus on that idea of God is our constant companion. That key idea in who and what we are and how things fit together and how they work together sustains us in all the different kinds of things that we're doing. It fits us in those highs and those lows, and it can sustain us through those uncertain times. God's promise remains clear. Another example that idea of Jesus walking with us in our humanity, fits in with that, with the idea that Jesus walked with us, experienced life as we see, fully human, experiencing life as we do, providing, though, the perfect model of companionship. Jesus' life on earth demonstrates that he was fully understanding our struggles, our temptations, our emotions, and in Matthew 28, 20, we see that him saying and surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. Jesus in his humanity not only lived with us, but also his promises to be with us through the Holy Spirit continue on. We see the Holy Spirit in all these different things being that advocate, being that companion, being that companion, being how we see our connection to and through to Jesus and to God. The Holy Spirit, as we see it, empowers us, it provides us with guidance and strength. It can oftentimes be that small voice that we hear or sometimes think we hear. You see, all these different things, all these different ways become important as we look at this idea of a journey. Now we can see a journey as being quotes that include things like well, the journey of a thousand miles begins with one step. Very true.
Speaker 1:If you are a Christian, I encourage you to do those things that help you build your relationship with Jesus Christ in all you do. If you are somebody who is wondering, considering, thinking all those things, I encourage you to take a look at that idea of a first step. Find that one thing to that peace that you can see within your faith. If it's an exploring faith, if it's an affirming faith, if it's a confirming faith, no matter how you look at it, take that step. Reach out and talk to others. Reach out and talk to others. Look at how their walks in faith have worked with for and particularly through them, because, as Christians, oftentimes we come back to the scriptures, such as Galatians 6-2. Carry each other's burdens and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. Being with and in community becomes important, and as Christians, we see community as being important.
Speaker 1:Another thing that we need to maybe keep in mind is that idea of trusting in God. You see, sometimes we get the idea that we're in charge. Well, it doesn't work out that well sometimes. In moments of confusion or difficulty, in times of trouble, we need to put our trust in God, put our faith in Jesus, put our ear to hearing the Holy Spirit providing us with effective advocacy moving forward. You see, life's journey can feel overwhelming at times. You have all these emotions, things like loneliness or sadness, and yet we also have other emotions that we could feel, such as joy, gratitude, peace, and it's through our faith that we can learn to be at peace in who and what we are. When we listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit, when we listen to Christ, when we listen to the voice of God, we see back in Scripture from Jeremiah 29, that For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. And that's where I think we need to be. If you're searching for and thinking about this journey, as a Christian being on this journey, I hope we'll give you hope, because hope is one of those things that we get.
Speaker 1:So, no matter what you're doing or how you're doing it, this idea of being not alone is important. You have access to so many different things in this day and age Church, congregations, small groups, people to talk to, chat groups, things like that. You also have access to the scripture many different versions of it and you probably also have access to Christians in your life who, as we look at it, can help. They can be the help to guide you through your jersey. Not being alone.
Speaker 1:That journey is something that becomes important. It's unique for each of us. Our experience with our faith, our experience in life is unique and as we go about it, we must see that we are not alone. So, as we go on this journey together, through this thing called life, exploring our faith, I hope you'll come back next week. I hope you'll come see the next version of the podcast. Come see the next version of the podcast. We'll continue to expand on specific topics within this idea of a journey, this idea of faith, this idea of growth in who and what you are as a disciple of Jesus Christ. I look forward to seeing you back again next week. I hope you have a blessed week, amen.
