This week, Dr. Busch sits down with his youngest podcast guest ever — Layla Newton, Head Chef of Fort Wayne’s only true Prohibition-style restaurant, The 19th Hole.
Layla’s story is nothing short of remarkable.
She went from selling cookies and treats to classmates in 8th grade, to walking downtown Fort Wayne with baked goods in hand, hustling like a true entrepreneur — long before she could drive.
From there, Layla followed her passion into the kitchen, ultimately traveling to Indianapolis in 2023 to assist her uncle — acclaimed Chef Marcus Daniel — at the prestigious Perfect Bite Competition, plating 200 dishes and discovering that culinary creativity was her calling.
Today she runs the kitchen of one of Fort Wayne’s most unique dining experiences, and her journey is only just beginning.
Dr. Busch digs into her upbringing, work ethic, culinary inspiration, competitions, and the big goals she has for her future.
