Dr. Ana María López Caldwell (she, her, hers) is an education leader who focuses on fostering a sense of belonging by authentically exercising a shared voice, shared power, and centering DEI. Dr. López Caldwell believes that when people feel like they belong, their experiences are significantly improved and they are able to learn and contribute to their community. As Executive Director of Bard Early College in New Orleans, Dr. López Caldwell fosters belonging by prioritizing active listening, vulnerability, and openness to learning and growing. She was born in Colombia and came to the United States as an adolescent. She received her B.A. in Business Administration from Stevenson University. Dr. López Caldwell earned her Master's Degree in Latin American Studies at Tulane University. She earned her PhD in Latin American Studies at Tulane University where she researched the socioeconomic stratification system in Colombia. Her research interests include symbolic boundaries, belonging, underrepresented students in higher education, diversity, equity, and inclusion. Dr. López Caldwell is proficient in Portuguese and fluent in Spanish and English.
