Not really, yep.
Speaker 2:Recording.
Speaker 1:We're recording. Oh, how about that? Welcome?
Speaker 2:We had some technical difficulties last week, a little bit through the week, but we're back.
Speaker 1:Yeah, that's good, because our topic last time would have been the male reproductive system, and instead of doing that, we decided we're going to talk about gonads.
Speaker 2:Okay, hero or dick, we're not. Gonads Okay, hero or dick, we're not.
Speaker 1:Gonads. No hero or dick. What is that on that Gonads?
Speaker 2:I don't know, I didn't study that much. I remember that term from junior high.
Speaker 1:I remember it from biology, because didn't fish have gonads?
Speaker 2:I don't know, somebody's got gonads and it was hilarious in junior high. Oh, I don't know if somebody's got gonads in them. It was hilarious in junior high, oh God.
Speaker 1:And it's still kind of funny. It is really funny.
Speaker 2:So welcome to Season 3, Episode 3.
Speaker 1:Of Hero or Dick, and the topic is not gonads, no, it's not, but it could be. Yeah, nervously, I keep looking at our recording to make sure that it's still going.
Speaker 2:It's going, it looks like it's going.
Speaker 1:We looking at our recording to make sure that it's still going. It's going, it looks like it's going. We have a new thing we're using. Well, we'll check it. Well, what's happened is we've had to lay off some staff members because of these tariffs.
Speaker 2:It's fucking driving us crazy.
Speaker 1:Yeah, and then the immigration's killing us too, there goes food service it's not good f you yeah no more canadian whiskey, kate usually sipping on a little canadian whiskey no, no, none for me.
Speaker 2:Now we're done but our real topic today is a good one vacations, vacations, yeah, yeah, I like vacations you do, you do it a lot I, I tried to.
Speaker 1:I don't even think I actually need to speak much during this.
Speaker 2:No, if you don't have a job if you are retired, like I am. Are you going on vacation, Because you're kind of always on vacation.
Speaker 1:Every day is a vacation.
Speaker 2:It is.
Speaker 1:No, you're going somewhere.
Speaker 2:Well, I did go somewhere.
Speaker 1:You do all the time.
Speaker 2:Recently I went to Puerto Rico, Puerto.
Speaker 1:Rico, puerto Rico.
Speaker 2:That was a vacation. That was a fun vacation.
Speaker 1:It was, I didn't know Was it. I don't remember you being there. You were supposed to scout some property for me, though.
Speaker 2:I scouted some property and it wasn't as inexpensive as I wanted it to be. You've got to go further away, I guess. But you further away, I guess. But you don't need a passport to go to puerto rico. No, you can just go there.
Speaker 1:It's commonwealth of the us. Everything's going to be a commonwealth of the united states. Sorry, I keep going back to it. I can't wait, that's all a commonwealth canada it's just a commonwealth, sunny, sunny gaza. That's where I'm going to go for vacation. Oh, what's weird. You can even clean that up.
Speaker 2:I'm still not going.
Speaker 2:Yeah, so uh now tell me about your trip um, our trip was good overall the beautiful country, beautiful beaches. We stayed in old san juan for a few days. It's very pretty there, nice beaches, beaches there too, lots of restaurants and there's lots and lots of hotels and there's lots and lots of cruise ships coming in there Lots. How'd you like that? Well, I didn't like it because we were the only people Not the only people, but there wasn't that many people down in Old San Juan, and then four cruise ships came out it was like this influx of people, but I'm sure Old San Juan likes it.
Speaker 1:Sure, they do.
Speaker 2:Because those people come and they go to your restaurant and they buy the souvenirs and, yeah, they spend some money there.
Speaker 1:Not pennies anymore, though.
Speaker 2:No, but I'm down with that.
Speaker 1:Because they're banning those things. I'm okay, that's it should have done that long time ago and a Canada got rid of pennies a long time ago no one's gonna even have paper money or coins eventually why do you need it? Why I'm looking at I'm sending you a payment right now. Bleep, I just sent it to you.
Speaker 2:With a blink of your eye, with a blink of my eye. That's what it's going to be.
Speaker 1:That's why you've got to get more into Crypto Kid Okay.
Speaker 2:That's a different topic. I know we didn't do that, yet Didn't we.
Speaker 1:No, we need to. You have some interesting stories about your trip, though.
Speaker 2:Which one?
Speaker 1:I've forgotten them all I remember One is you kind of went to the old haunts because you used to live there. Right, and then the other one wait, wait, I want to get my. It's a dual question topic, and the other one was you crashed someone's 60th party. We did that was so fun.
Speaker 2:So we stayed in Old San Juan for like three or four days, and then we went across the island to the old Ramey Air Force Base, where I was living when I was in second, third and fourth grade, so I got to go to my old house. I was too chicken to go up to the door and knock on the door, though, but I got to see it and it's still there, and my old school is there, and a lot. Even though it's 50 years later, a lot of things are the same, so that was kind of fun, and I got to take my family to oh, here's this beach that we used to go to. There were some ruins there.
Speaker 2:We we did many field trips there, and when we were there, we were picking up pottery and all kinds of artifacts, and I'm sure it's picked clean by now, but, um, and the people uh, most of the people there were very kind and very welcoming, and almost everyone speaks english and spanish. So, right there, I give them kudos. I only speak the one language not very well. So, um, one night, though, we went to a restaurant and we were seated in a room where a woman was having a 60th birthday party, and they graciously let us be part of that party, and she was very kind to us we bought her a drink.
Speaker 1:What was her name?
Speaker 2:again, monique Monique, I know, yeah, monique Monique, and she looks great too. She does not look like she's 60 years old, she's going to like that when she hears this. Well, I don't know that she will.
Speaker 1:I neglected to tell her. I thought you told everybody.
Speaker 2:No, you know, we need stickers or something we need a lot of stuff. Yeah, but Monique and her family were very kind, gave us cake and welcomed us into their party, so thanks.
Speaker 1:Monique, there was another cake thing, wasn't there? Or is that the only cake thing?
Speaker 2:It's the only cake I had. I had a lot of creme brulee there and I have I like. Everywhere I go, I like to have creme brulee. And I want to give a shout out to the Polish Corner in Alpena, michigan, because they have, if not the best top five easy.
Speaker 1:Really.
Speaker 2:Their creme brulee is outstanding. That's good to hear that place is doing all right. Yeah, we went there friday night for dinner. It was wonderful, yeah I like eating there.
Speaker 1:I don't like waiting for my food there, because sometimes it's a long time oh, or has it been better?
Speaker 2:it's been better.
Speaker 1:I think I'm not complaining, I know, I think they, I think they make you know when they actually make it.
Speaker 2:They're not pulling out of the gordon food no, no, it doesn't taste like it anyway, no, and I think well, a lot of their meat and stuff is from the wiki, so yeah, it was very well.
Speaker 1:It's the same owners.
Speaker 2:Yeah I think so, yeah, so they had great creme brulee, which brings me to my creme brulee in puerto rico. I had lime creme brulee and it was.
Speaker 1:I don't even know what that is is the best what's creme brulee?
Speaker 2:it is like a custard in a dish and then they blow torch the top of caramel and some sugar on the top, and then they blow, torch it, so it's hard like a ice skating rink, oh, and then you crack through that to get to the magic show oh my gosh, you like magic, magic shell.
Speaker 1:I do like magic shell. Do you use a torch in your kitchen?
Speaker 2:I do not, you ever thought about it.
Speaker 1:No, I've been thinking about it a lot.
Speaker 2:What do you need? A torch for Whatever you need to make creme brulee then if you have a torch, I never did make the lemon cake I was supposed to make three months ago.
Speaker 1:I've been watching that Hell's Kitchen three months ago. But I've been watching that Hell's Kitchen. Yeah, they're always torturing shit. Yeah, looks fun.
Speaker 2:We went to Cassidy and I went to a Gordon Ramsay restaurant Before he was really famous. He was famous.
Speaker 1:Famous enough to have a couple restaurants.
Speaker 2:He was famous enough to have a few restaurants in London and we went to one and it was one of the best meals I ever had. It was very, very good. Are we recording?
Speaker 1:Yes.
Speaker 2:So back to vacations. Spokassany and I were on vacation. That was a great day.
Speaker 1:Wait, where were you again?
Speaker 2:We were in London and we went there for a lovely meal and actually our I guess it was the main course was taking a little while, so they brought us out some homemade ice cream and strawberries here. This is taking a little while, so they brought us out some homemade ice cream and strawberries here this is taking a long time here.
Speaker 1:Have this, that's okay, yeah, yeah. Why don't places do that?
Speaker 2:I don't know, but they did it and it was the lovely, lovely meal. And then, cassidy, remember we went to that waterstone five-story bookstore and books are not a good souvenir to buy, because they're very heavy, sure, but we still buy them because we're book people. I love books too, yeah, so that was a great day. Then it was pouring rain, so we went back to our hotel, snuggled in the bed and she had the pullout and we watched hours of British soap operas. It was the greatest day ever no, that was your favorite trip.
Speaker 1:Wasn't one of your favorites when you and cassidy went?
Speaker 2:yeah, sure, yeah, we have a good time together. We travel well together. I think, um, and probably my favorite trip is when I retired and went there and was there for a while, like three weeks. We were yeah, you were gone a while. Like three weeks we were there.
Speaker 1:Yeah, you were gone a while. We were podcasting then weren't we. I think we were.
Speaker 2:We've been doing this for ten years. Ten years, I guess, only.
Speaker 1:Three.
Speaker 2:Three, no two. Two we were on season three, though I don't figure that one. We were just making sure I don't know.
Speaker 1:Well, we did we did.
Speaker 2:Yeah, so he's the first kill me, but yeah he's talking about us on our walk before this was she? Brooke is my lovely wife, you know her she's beautiful.
Speaker 1:Oh, we love the coasters, by the way. Oh good, kate brought us back some gifts from puerto rico no rum, no, sorry, she would have been you don't want rum. She might want a rum, I would like rum for her. Terrible, anyway. What was I saying? Oh, she was saying that she's pretty impressive that you and I have been doing this for as long as we have.
Speaker 2:She's surprised. I said, well, we enjoy it. Yeah, nobody's listening, that's okay, that's why I like it. I think, yeah, what if we had 10,000 people listening? It would be kind of Pressure. We couldn't say gonads. What I hope we would, I don't know you think they'd still let us call it hero or dick. Who's they? Who's going to stop?
Speaker 1:us.
Speaker 2:The 10,000. No, that's why they're listening. Nobody's stopping us, they want to hear gonad.
Speaker 1:So anyway, you went to London with Cassidy. You've been there a few times.
Speaker 2:Yeah, three or four times. Yeah, three or four times. Yeah, I like it there. And then it's Cassidy's favorite. I polled some people and Cassidy said London is her favorite place to go. I agree, but there are some other places I want to go to. She also had Buenos Aires, but she said there's always political unrest, Excuse me.
Speaker 1:So yeah, what else you got? I know you've talked to quite a few people.
Speaker 2:Well, and some people go to you know the same place every time and there's no shame in that. I mean, if you have a cottage, that's your vacation, boom go to the cottage.
Speaker 1:But like if you go to the same great wolf lodge every year.
Speaker 2:Oh, that would be horrible in my book, but some people would love it for some people in their vacation is the alpena county fair. They pull up a camper and oh boy, that sounds horrible too you're terrible.
Speaker 1:Oh, you know what I mean. I mean it all depends on the person. It depends.
Speaker 2:Some people would love that.
Speaker 1:Yeah, most.
Speaker 2:I'd put the best vacation London, london, london Also. I went to Colorado once and my girlfriend arranged everything. All I had to do was show up. That's nice and that was one of the best vacations. We went and visited. My sister lives out there in Jefferson.
Speaker 1:Where's that?
Speaker 2:It's up in the mountains.
Speaker 1:How far from Denver?
Speaker 2:Two hours maybe, I don't know, because I wasn't the organizer. I just sat in the car and drank.
Speaker 1:Hey, that's cool though. Yeah, it was great, jesus Christ Not really it's okay if you did I mean I did, I would have.
Speaker 2:Don't tell anybody, I wouldn't. You know, for the worst vacation I wrote an in-law vacation. I don't think my in-laws are listening, so that's okay and we have vacationed with them and visited them, and it's fine. We go and do our stuff and then spend a few days with them.
Speaker 1:They're in Arizona.
Speaker 2:Yeah, a beautiful state, really Spent a few days with them. They're in Arizona. Yeah, a beautiful state, really beautiful. Huh, not yeah, but it's not like I thought it was going to be all desert. It is not Okay. It's got mountains, it's got water. It was very impressive. I liked Arizona. I've been there like two or three times and I'm ready to go somewhere else. Now, though, and some people I did write to them some people like a staycation, they like to just stay home. They, you know, take a vacation from work, but you're not going anywhere. I don't know. I like to go somewhere, I guess, but some people like to stay.
Speaker 1:Like you're like, oh, I'm going to eat my favorite foods this few days.
Speaker 2:I'm going to sleep in Watch my movies.
Speaker 1:You kind of have to have this vacation alone, probably Away from your family.
Speaker 2:Well, your family can be there Maybe.
Speaker 1:I mean, I would love it, of course, but most people would maybe like being alone, like my wife. Sometimes that's a vacation to take a vacation from those that you love. She wants to go to the big apple. Uh, I don't. I've been there, it's fine, I like it's cool. But I said you know what, take jovi on spring break. Oh, I'll stay home and watch the dogs and what is?
Speaker 2:what's are they gonna do?
Speaker 1:it. I don't know she's, she's hemming and hawing, but I keep trying to encourage her. Go do it. You and Jovi can go have fun for a few days and then when she gets back, I'll take Jovi on a trip a little train trip.
Speaker 2:Man Jovi is one lucky kid yeah. Poor Julian's at school, yeah sorry, but he's going to Ecuador, oh.
Speaker 1:Spring break.
Speaker 2:Wow, when's that? February Well it says February, march, march.
Speaker 1:Yeah, so what are some other polls? You took a poll there. I want to hear some more.
Speaker 2:So I asked people what's your dream trip? And Jennifer told me her dream trip is a whole month on the coast of Maine in the fall.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 2:I like that. I said I'm there, I will come and visit you. Take some Stephen King novels with you. She loves stephen king. I do love stephen king too, um beth said. First she said national parks in utah, and then she texted me back, but and or on alaskan cruise. And then she texted me back or caribbean, all inclusive on a beach. I can just lay around. And I finally texted her and said you just want to get away, don't you? She said yeah, I'll go anywhere. Harley told me she was the one that was. She wasn't a big travel person. She said I just now I'm getting back into traveling. It was, I don't know why. She didn't like it, but it wasn't fun for her. So she didn't want to travel, but she liked staying home when she had time off.
Speaker 1:So she's a staycationer.
Speaker 2:She was a staycationer but now her dream trip is the Scandinavian cruise. And she said she's new to loving travel. And then her guy, corey, said vacation is a state of mind.
Speaker 1:Oh, yes, I like that.
Speaker 2:I liked that too, corey. Good job, Every day is a vacation if you have the right state of mind, I guess, if you can close your eyes and go somewhere or just relax. Lori Faber said Norway or Prince Edward Island and Tahiti. Those are her bucket lists. That's a wide range. That's the range I like, that she's traveling the world Greg best, greg said Cuba.
Speaker 1:Oh, yeah, and.
Speaker 2:I just read that Cuba's having some electrical problems and supply problems. So don't go there now, greg. No, hold off Greg. Problems and supply problems, so don't go there now. No, no, hold off greg. Jay jay's is so specifically planned out.
Speaker 1:I think he might be leaving like next week.
Speaker 2:Only he has a newborn. Um, he said his dream vacation would be a couple's week in australia during ashes, which is a big cricket match between australia and the uk at christmas time. You would also go fishing there too. That's nice, yeah that is specific.
Speaker 1:It is very specific. It's good to know what you want to do yeah, yeah it's a goal to work towards right.
Speaker 2:Leanne chose hawaii, one she already did. She did a cruise and they went to four of the islands. She said that was wonderful and beautiful. Suzanne said it's more about who is with me than where I am going. Man, you've got some cool friends. Oh my God, that was so deep.
Speaker 1:They're better people than we are, aren't they?
Speaker 2:Well, they're friends with me, so right there.
Speaker 2:Jenna said Bermuda, because she said they don't have big cars, they only have mini cars and scooters and mopeds, and she thought that would be kind of fun. Yeah, I like that too. And she thought more of the cities, although I think they're going to nyc too on their spring break. But she, when we went, she came to Puerto Rico with us and she said she enjoyed the beaches more than she thought she would. You know, you don't have to be laying out in the sun to enjoy a beach. You know, yes, you can swim, but I liked people watching at the beach. That was fun. Read a book, hang gliders everywhere. Oh my God, they're so amazing. I could watch them. I did watch them for hours.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 2:Hours at a time. There's surfers too, but there was more hang gliders where we were Not. Hang gliders Parasailing, Parasailing. Thank you.
Speaker 1:Did you want to do it?
Speaker 2:No, no, thanks. Just watch them. Just watch them from afar. Marcy said dolphins and Ireland, but we decided she couldn't have both in the same one, unless she goes to an aquarium. Unless she goes to the aquarium in Ireland. Two separate vacations, ireland. Now here's the best one. Tom, my friend Tom Moran, said that his dream vacation is always the next vacation. Geez, there goes another one. I know isn't that deep. Mm-hmm, and it's the experience more than the destination. Mm-hmm, I get that Wow.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I liked that answer. What's your dream vacation?
Speaker 1:I don't know now.
Speaker 2:You have many to choose from.
Speaker 1:I'm trying to be happy here right now, in this moment.
Speaker 2:Okay, are you going on vacation right now?
Speaker 1:I went on vacation Friday and took a day off.
Speaker 2:Oh, did you. You went to Petoskey, gaylord, to get a windshield replaced in my wife's car.
Speaker 1:That was my day off, and then I did some work on the investment property. But no, I'd like to go somewhere.
Speaker 2:Name place, I'll go. I think my dream vacation and, mind you, this is just a dream. I would like to go to Spain, but I would like to go alone, and not because I don't like people and I have a lot of people to travel with but.
Speaker 1:Are you going to run with the bulls?
Speaker 2:No, oh, I think that's horrible.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 2:I would watch it if it was happening, but Sure no. I just think that is a country that I would like to explore Alone, alone.
Speaker 1:I mean there'll be other people in Spain, but Well, yeah, you're probably not going to get the whole country to yourself.
Speaker 2:I'm not going to get the whole country to myself, but just to see if I can do it.
Speaker 1:I want to hit some places in the States.
Speaker 2:There's so many cool places I mentioned.
Speaker 1:Denver. I'd like to get to Hawaii, northern California, maine.
Speaker 2:Anywhere yeah.
Speaker 1:We've done the. Everywhere has a cool shit going on. Yeah, you can drive to some small podunk town. What?
Speaker 2:was your place. You went to Appleton Wisconsin Appleton Wisconsin, I loved it or somewhere in Iowa.
Speaker 1:Oh yeah, dubuque.
Speaker 2:Dubuque, that was fun.
Speaker 1:Yeah, there's plenty of places.
Speaker 2:I'm going to Gatlinburg Tennessee in June. Oh, I forgot.
Speaker 1:Because the Blue Ridge Mountains are around that area.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 1:We went to North Carolina, oh, and stayed in a little Airbnb up on the mountain edge or whatever. That was pretty cool. Drew up the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Speaker 2:Yeah, was it scary.
Speaker 1:For my family. It was because I kind of got stressed out and got the car on two wheels and we're waddling back and forth on the side of the road for a minute and I was yelling at my passengers um but everybody shift their weight. They wanted to do the uh zip lining. I did not. So, like the old lady that I am truly inside. I went to an antique, big antique place.
Speaker 2:Oh my gosh, that sounds all by myself.
Speaker 1:It was awesome see and then we're like I can't believe, you don't want to go I just don't I don't like heights, but that wasn't. It's just like it's not my bag. I'm sure I would have been like, oh cool, I'm glad I did that, but I don't know.
Speaker 2:I kind of looked like like looking at old stuff too I different antiques, I don't care, I'm telling you yeah, when we were in, uh, when the first time I went to London, my husband was working and so I had all day to myself, and so I went to malls, I went to antique places. I went to this old lady's house for tea. What she gave me? Sherry. Did you know her? I met her on the bus.
Speaker 1:Are you kidding me?
Speaker 2:No, I'm not kidding you.
Speaker 1:You just met a lady and went to her house.
Speaker 2:I met a lady on the bus, yeah, and she said oh, you're staying. Wherever we were staying, it was a bed and breakfast. And she said I'm just around the corner, you should pop in. So I did, you did, I did pop in. I have pictures.
Speaker 1:You weren't worried.
Speaker 2:What's she going to do?
Speaker 1:She has a murderous son living at home in the basement.
Speaker 2:No, she had a sweet old husband who he said she loves having afternoon company because then she can break out the sherry. And she did. And I don't like sherry but I drank it. Yeah, they were fun. They told me about the ghosts living in their house. Oh, I love it. And they were. I mean, this was years ago now, so it's 20 some years ago, and they had gone through the war. So they were telling me about world war ii and it was so interesting. Yeah, yeah, she was really cool.
Speaker 1:So the people you meet on vacation that's nice it was very fun, yeah yeah, I don't know we do the or we did the. Um, one of your friends mentioned the all-inclusives. We did a few of those.
Speaker 2:Yeah, what do you think of that? I've never done an all-inclusive.
Speaker 1:I mean, I liked them better when I was drinking. Sure, because I would just wake up and my wife would be like what are you doing? I'm like there's vodka sitting here.
Speaker 2:I'm going to make myself a drink.
Speaker 1:Eight o'clock in the morning, slow, steady buzz. Slow steady buzz oh yeah, and hang out by the pool.
Speaker 2:Oh man, the buffets. There is nothing better than a two-beer buzz at 2 o'clock in the afternoon on vacation, nap a little bit.
Speaker 1:But the Dominican was my favorite, I think.
Speaker 2:That was another one that they said there's some high crime going on, don't go there right now.
Speaker 1:I don't know. They said that when we were going to, but what's the other?
Speaker 2:one, but if it's all-inclusive, I'm sure you're safe.
Speaker 1:It's gated, yeah Bahamas and St Thomas.
Speaker 2:I would love to go to a different island. I like Puerto.
Speaker 1:Rico a lot I've been to Barbados, barbados.
Speaker 2:It's beautiful what you went to Barbados, yeah.
Speaker 1:You probably told me that already.
Speaker 2:Yeah, no, my in-laws did take us there, so that was really nice, see. Yeah, that was an in-law vacation and that one was fine.
Speaker 1:I've done. Actually, two of our three Malaclusas. I took our in-laws Did you my in-laws? Actually, well, it was pretty fun, very fun to travel with, yeah, and they said they liked it because, like you just said, they didn't have to plan anything, and so I think they spent their whole lives, planning shit well, and I'm the usually the planner of the vacation, so it's a lot yeah, I don't too For.
Speaker 2:Puerto Rico. There were two hotels that we added another hotel. There's a car rental, there's airplane tickets. I'm coordinating two people, mike and Jenna, and Mike and I, and it was a lot.
Speaker 1:Yeah, it was a lot, and then sometimes I don't you worry about where people want to eat, what time they want to eat.
Speaker 2:Right, so you had to coordinate that. We only had four people and one day there was a throwdown Not really a throwdown- yeah, close to it. And it's like, well, let's just pick someplace. If it sucks, we'll go somewhere else, or if it sucks, we won't go there again.
Speaker 1:That's one thing about the vacations Expensive, yeah, and Vacations are expensive, yeah, and it's like I think fewer and fewer people can take vacations. I agree, because they've got that gap widening between the haves and the have-nots.
Speaker 2:And I think that it makes the long weekend vacation more important. You know we're lucky. We live in a beautiful area. You can go north or you can go south, and you can have a good vacation, or you can stay here. Some people come here on vacation.
Speaker 1:They do, don't they? They do More and more. Yeah, we get the.
Speaker 2:Viking ship in here and the Viking people are like oh my God, it's beautiful here.
Speaker 1:What is it about the cruise thing? I don't know, but I'm not a cruiser. You had some people mention the cruises.
Speaker 2:Scandinavian cruise, but not a big. Looking at those cruise ships coming into Old San Juan, it gives me anxiety.
Speaker 1:I don't think I would enjoy it. I don't like people that much. And there's a lot of people on some of those and I can't get away from them, but I think I like on the river cruises.
Speaker 2:The boats are smaller and everybody has an outside cabin so you can go to your place and just look out. Plus, you're on a river, there's scenery on both sides.
Speaker 1:Yeah, out in the middle of the.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I don't know. I don't know, not for me.
Speaker 1:Unless, of course, norwegian Cruises wants to sponsor the podcast.
Speaker 2:I will certainly go on a trip. Yeah, we'll try it.
Speaker 1:What is it? Norwegian Cruise.
Speaker 2:Line Prove us wrong trip?
Speaker 1:yeah, we'll try it. What is it norwegian? Prove us wrong. Prove us wrong. Viking. Yes, prove us wrong. We'll even go on a. What is the one around? Here a viking I know, but great lakes cruise a great lakes cruise.
Speaker 2:Sure, yeah, I've met a couple people, um, you know, just being down when they come in, and the one person I was talking to him like oh yeah, on the cruise.
Speaker 2:yeah, we're having a great time. I'm like, oh, where are you from minnesota? I'm like you know you're on the cruise, yeah, we're having a great time. I'm like, oh, where are you from Minnesota? I'm like you know you can come here anytime. We're like we'll pick you up the next. They've got a little bit of Wisconsin and then Minnesota. So the price of the Great Lakes one is more than it is going to Tahiti, isn't it? But they do cover a lot of area. It's really spendy, isn't it?
Speaker 1:But they do cover a lot of area Okay.
Speaker 2:Wow, that was acceptance.
Speaker 1:Yeah okay.
Speaker 2:Well, I'm thinking, like you know, you're going to Toronto. You're going to, aren't you going through the? I can't think of the seaway. It's called there by the.
Speaker 1:St Lawrence.
Speaker 2:Seaway. Is it St Lawrence there? I don't even know.
Speaker 1:I don't even know what country.
Speaker 2:I'm in right now. Shame on me for not knowing, and you do. You know we live in the Great Lakes, so we're kind of blasé about it. But if you don't live here, the Great Lakes is a really cool place. It's still pretty cool, You're going to five you know, lakes Mm-hmm.
Speaker 1:A lot of water here.
Speaker 2:We do have a lot of. That was the other thing when we were in Puerto Rico. You're surrounded by water, but it's all salt water.
Speaker 1:Yeah, it's not fresh water. Is that four miles long, that island Not even.
Speaker 2:Well, it took two. We were in San Juan You're almost at the tip of the northeast corner, maybe like another half hour 45 minutes and then we drove all the way to the other corner, to the northwest, where agadilla is old ramey air force base, and it was about two hours. Okay, and that's the long part of the island. If you go, you know, uh, north to south it's shorter, so it's not. It's actually one of the bigger islands but it's not very big it'd be tough living on an island because you can't just go well for us, because we don't.
Speaker 2:We don't, you know, think of that. And even in, even in the uk, you know that island isn't huge, and so my uk friend was wanted to come and visit us and I hope she still does and we're like, oh, cassidy just lives close, you know we can go, you can stay there and then come and and she said well, by close will you yanks? I mean close. She said what do you mean? I said, oh, it's just a couple hours she's.
Speaker 1:You know, if I drive two hours, I pack a suitcase yeah, yeah, but that's just what they're used to well, we have to drive two hours to go anywhere, anywhere, it's two hours. Yeah, it's I don't know but I like it here, I do too all right.
Speaker 2:So vacations I think it's obvious that I like a vacation. It's a hero hero the only time they are. Sometimes in your mind they're a superhero, and then the reality of it is like the Chevy Chase syndrome yeah. Yeah, and then yeah. Damn it, but usually it's almost as good as in your head.
Speaker 1:Yeah and it's always better after Remember the memory of it.
Speaker 2:Yeah, Because you could be arguing with your family all the way there. Oh, and you see, you know, think of Disney World. If you're ever in Disney World, every other family is having it melt down. You know kids are tired, parents are crabby. You know they all want to go separate ways and then when they get home they're like oh we have so much fun at Disney $20,000. Still, vacations are a hero, even if they have sucky moments.
Speaker 1:Indeed, I agree, okay, hero.
Speaker 2:Hero, hero, hero.
Speaker 1:What else do we got?
Speaker 2:Well, we'll do a fast five. Oh, goody Ready, I am Airplanes Dick Right now. They're total dicks. Right now, they're total dicks, are they? Oh, they're crashing, yeah, they're crashing everywhere, yeah, I don't like that, the crashing part.
Speaker 1:I don't like planes very much.
Speaker 2:We had a lot of turbulence on the way to Puerto Rico, like the most I've ever been in a plane, and I was a bit fearful for my we're over the Bermuda Triangle, for one thing, that's why, we're totally going down.
Speaker 2:Don't take a plane over that. Well, I didn't care if it was on the way back, but we're on the way there. So, yeah, how about trains? Hero, I think, hero, I would love to do a train trip. I like them. Yeah, we did a short train trip. We stayed in Williams, arizona, and took about almost three hours train ride to the Grand Canyon.
Speaker 1:Oh, that's nice.
Speaker 2:Yeah, and you go where you're going through this desolate area, parts of it, and it is easy to imagine how it was. So that was really fun.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I like the idea of it. I've done it a couple times. I actually traveled for work back in the day and I would take the train because I would go from michigan to chicago or to out in iowa, wherever, and I always I liked it yeah, we took the train from ann arbor to chicago, so you didn't, you know, have to drive in the traffic.
Speaker 2:And yeah, I like relaxing, it is relaxing. So trains, hero. How about automobiles, love?
Speaker 1:Love cars.
Speaker 2:I know you love your car. I love driving, Drive, drive drive, I do love driving. I do like cars, because how the hell else are we going to get around?
Speaker 1:Yeah hero.
Speaker 2:How about a bus, dick? Did you ever do a bus ride?
Speaker 1:Yeah, I don't like it.
Speaker 2:I took a bus from Alpena, michigan, to Biloxi, mississippi, and it was the longest suicide mission. Yeah, it was. It was the longest. I can't remember how many days.
Speaker 1:I think it was three days, like two and a lot, what you're sleeping oh my god, it was horrible so that was the last time I was on the person you sat by yeah, and, and I think I was about 18 when I did it, but I still hated it. Yeah, that's no fun.
Speaker 2:How about boats?
Speaker 1:No, we've had this discussion before.
Speaker 2:Oh really.
Speaker 1:I enjoy a personal watercraft boat. In fact I would like to get one for the summer because we don't have one anymore. But the big boats like the cruise ships and shit.
Speaker 2:Not a cruise ship, but how about a ferry? I like going on a ferry boat, oh yeah.
Speaker 1:I like ferry boats.
Speaker 2:You're like in the car, sometimes not even in the car the Mackinac Island ones? Well, yeah, those two, that's a ferry boat. That's a ferry boat I'm thinking like a car ferry.
Speaker 1:Yeah, oh, the big ones, yeah I, I haven't been on one of those.
Speaker 2:Oh, they were kind of adventurous. We took the motorcycle one time and we were on a big one, a Manitoulin Island, getting from somewhere to Manitoulin. It was a beautiful ride.
Speaker 1:Dolores Claiborne ruined ferry rides for me. Remember that the poor little girl and the dad, oh, Ugh. Okay, let's not revisit that.
Speaker 2:That's a great movie it is a great movie because it's stephen king probably a good book too. I didn't read it you should read the book. Sorry, oh you should have.
Speaker 1:So yeah, we're saying heroes for fairies boats overall heroes cruise boats okay, we'll do it to be determined when we get free tickets, yeah, they're coming okay, all right.
Speaker 2:So that's what I say. What do you say? Any closing thoughts?
Speaker 1:No, I've just been thinking about Jason Bateman again.
Speaker 2:Why.
Speaker 1:Well, because he has. How are we?
Speaker 2:running to Conan O'Brien.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I think he's kind of a doofus.
Speaker 2:He is totally a doofus. That's why I love him.
Speaker 1:But Bateman, he's a producer of a show on Netflix called Outlast. It's where they put, like I don't know, a dozen people out into the wilderness and they can win a million dollars.
Speaker 2:Or die.
Speaker 1:Well, yeah, or you shoot your flare and get taken off if you get sick or you're done or whatever. And it's pretty fascinating and I did not know he was the producer until I saw it pop up in the credits.
Speaker 2:And I know you and him had a little thing. Is there anything he doesn't do? Call us.
Speaker 1:Yeah, he doesn't call. And you were on Smartless. I can't believe it. All right, well, we should say thank you to everybody that participated.
Speaker 2:Yes, thank you everybody for giving your input on the vacations and we'll hear from you soon, I hope. Yeah, oh yeah, when do you email us One time oh?
Speaker 1:man.
Speaker 2:Hero or.
Speaker 1:Dick at Gmail.
Speaker 2:No, there's a number in there.
Speaker 1:Hero or Dick 2023 at Gmailmailcom yeah, that's it yeah, that'll do it yep okay thanks everyone bye.
