Hero or Dick
Welcome to Hero or Dick — the podcast where Kate and KJ dig into the strange, funny, and unforgettable corners of history, pop culture, and everything in between. Each episode, we take on famous (and infamous) figures, events, and ideas, breaking them down with humor, insight, and just enough irreverence to ask the question that matters: hero…or dick?
From legendary icons to the odd stories behind movies, music, and everyday life, we pull the threads that make people and moments extraordinary. Along the way, you’ll get Kate’s infamous Fast Five lists (and KJ forgetting his), personal anecdotes, and plenty of chances to weigh in with your own takes.
Ever wondered if a celebrated artist was secretly a scoundrel? Or if a movie villain actually had a point? We live in those gray areas — the messy, funny, human places where the line between hero and dick isn’t so clear.
Join us bi-weekly for deep dives, playful banter, and the kind of conversations that leave you laughing, thinking, and maybe a little surprised. Whether you’re here for the history, the pop culture, or just to see if Kate finally got her car back, Hero or Dick is your go-to podcast for stories that entertain as much as they reveal.

Fireworks are supposed to be pure fun. But the closer you look, the more complicated they become. We start with a Fourth of July recap—bonfires, s'mores, and fireworks across the lake—before digging into where fireworks came from, why we love them, and what they really cost.
We talk injuries, pollution, pets, PTSD, billions of dollars spent every year, and whether our priorities make sense. Then it's time for the verdict: Hero or Dick?
As always, thanks for listening!

Banter And Holiday Check-In
SPEAKER_00Um we'll have to make it a couple of Welcome to Are we Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Oh, okay. Hey Hi Keg. Oh five.
SPEAKER_00It's season for episode. Whatever you said.
SPEAKER_01Episode nine.
SPEAKER_00We're broadcasting for Hero or Dick. Hero or Dick. That's the name of it?
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Ducky's here.
SPEAKER_01God, that was from a long time ago. Um what is the date today? July 7th.
SPEAKER_00It weeks better like that. Okay.
SPEAKER_01Oh, you just bop it on the head?
SPEAKER_00Instead of squeezing. What's the date today? The seventh?
SPEAKER_01The seventh.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_01So we survived the holiday.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, you had a big soiree. Hey.
SPEAKER_01We no, we didn't have a big soiree. We had continual, consistent family members visiting. Tripling in and out. Yeah, we have some more coming Sunday, just for a night. And then at the end of the month, we have uh my uh my uh Mike's aunt will be joining us.
SPEAKER_00Talking to them.
SPEAKER_01Okay, hello.
SPEAKER_00Huh. Yeah, you're kind of showing up.
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah, I usually I talk too loud.
SPEAKER_00You've got a you've got a good place though for company.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, people like to come and visit us and pick rocks.
SPEAKER_00Oh god, I forgot. I should see Jovi over there. Oh, be she goes out to the point of there.
SPEAKER_01It was excellent rock picking. Uh then it got kind of wavy, and now it's you know not as good. It's not as good. It's still good. Um still do it, you can still find some. That's a nice potasti stones.
SPEAKER_00Well, if you see she shows up, okay, she's gonna pick rocks. All right.
Bonfires, S’mores, And Lake Fireworks
SPEAKER_00Um yeah, what did we do?
SPEAKER_01What did you do on the fourth?
SPEAKER_00Totally low-key.
SPEAKER_01We stayed home, but we did have a bonfire and watched the fireworks from the beach and made s'mores. Some with Reese's peanut butter cups. How is that? I don't like s'mores, so I don't like marshmallows. I don't shaking your head in shame, but I'm sorry. I just I mean, if that's the last food on earth, yeah, I'll eat it. But but it's toasted, they're pretty good. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's the only way to eat them. Um or in a rice crispy tree. Yeah. You do like those. But I'm just not a fan of, I don't know.
SPEAKER_00I get it.
SPEAKER_01It's a they're too sugar, and they're too puffy.
SPEAKER_00We um it was low-key, who was just Brooke and I. Her dad came over for a little bit.
SPEAKER_01I were you at the cottage?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I grilled uh venice and on the grill, I guess that's how you grill it. And then um, you know, played some cornhole, and then he left and Jovi came out, and uh we had a bonfire, and it was just the three of us. It was really nice. We Jovi and I went and got some fireworks and lit them off, and then we watched fireworks all around the lake. It was a little rich. Everybody has their own, yes. But I bought some of the five-inch mortar shells. Oh boom boom. Yeah, those are pretty cool, worth money. I mean, not really, it's a waste of money.
SPEAKER_01It's a worth of money.
SPEAKER_00We should be do every year. We go get fireworks.
Crowds, Traditions, And Why We Watch
SPEAKER_01But speaking of fireworks, fireworks, that would be our topic for today. Fireworks.
SPEAKER_00Yes, it is.
SPEAKER_01And so you're lucky you don't live in Massachusetts because that's the only state in the union that outlawed outlawed fireworks.
SPEAKER_00When?
SPEAKER_01I don't know when, but you can't buy them, use them, or sell them.
SPEAKER_00That might be nice.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Dogs would like it.
SPEAKER_01Pets and wild animals would like it.
SPEAKER_00People with PTSD.
SPEAKER_01Yes. Yes. All right, we just covered everything right now. Yep.
SPEAKER_00Well, wait, what were some do you have any favorite memories as a kid? Like fireworks.
SPEAKER_01Oh, fireworks?
SPEAKER_00Running out the sparklers that are 20,000 degrees or whatever it is.
SPEAKER_01Well, here's my memory of sparklers. It's not a good memory. Okay. Uh, Cassidy was about three or four, and she had a sparkler that burned her pretty bad.
SPEAKER_00That's not good.
SPEAKER_01Like, we didn't have to go to the hospital, but it was pretty bad. It was a a metal sparkler, you know, so not all of them are metal. Yeah, but yeah, classic metal sparkler. And how dangerous are those? Oh my god, they're horrible. Not all you remember what the degree is. It's like 2,000 degrees, isn't it? Oh yeah, if I would have known that, I would have never gave her that.
SPEAKER_00And then the fact that it's a piece of metal.
SPEAKER_01Sparklers burn at 1,200 degrees. That's pretty hot. 1,200 degrees. And there are 1,300 estimated 1,300 ER visits because of sparklers. 1,300.
SPEAKER_00That's it?
SPEAKER_01I mean, that's a lot, but um, yeah, and I you know, I don't know if that's that can't be nationwide. It must be more than that.
SPEAKER_00That's probably just alpine.
SPEAKER_01Maybe that's just maybe that's just um on the 4th of July.
SPEAKER_00I don't know. The um one thing about fireworks, I I never really when I was a kid, I think we went a couple times. We could actually see them from our house out in Maple Ridge. Oh wow. Back when the trees were lower. And I just never been a fan of going with the big masses of people.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. If you if you're here in Alpina, they light them off downtown, and it is a madhouse. And we've done it, and then we've not done it, and I prefer not doing it.
SPEAKER_00Well, you've got the lake, you can see it.
SPEAKER_01Right, we can see it from the beach, although it's not the same as being right there, and that and that is really cool, but it's not worth the waiting at waiting, waiting, waiting for it, and um and then waiting to get out of there. Yeah. And then when I lived in town, we could walk to them, so we walk a few times. We walked.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. You never know, you might get shanked too. You could, you know, dangerous as nighttime. People have been drinking since four o'clock in the morning, sitting in their chair waiting for the bars to start 20 hours later. The people get there that early. Like, what are they doing? I don't know. Really? What are you waiting for? Make a day of it. You're not seeing a spaceship land.
SPEAKER_01No, I did see the International Space Station go over us last night.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah?
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Yeah. He turned on the local news just uh as a fluke, and he said, Oh, in about 10 minutes, the International Space Station should be visible in the southwest sky. So I went out there and we we saw it go over. I think that's what it was. I mean, it was something it was cranking too. It was moving. You know, you think, I mean, if you're on it, it's probably doesn't seem like it's going that fast, but it was going fast and it was really bright. Very cool. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Um, so besides that, you know, one the memory of the bad memory.
SPEAKER_01The the good memory. I mean, yeah, when I was a kid, we used to come down and watch it. I don't ever remember watching it before I moved to Alpina. Apparently we didn't go or we didn't.
SPEAKER_00We didn't have them.
SPEAKER_01We didn't have them.
SPEAKER_00Not until you got here.
SPEAKER_01You know, living on the Air Force Base, maybe they were like, let's not do that. People think we're bombing them or something.
SPEAKER_00The hard part now is that sounds bad, but staying up past 10 o'clock. Like I I was drinking coffee all day, and then I had a Starbucks energy drink like at nine o'clock, so I could make it till just 10 to light the fireworks off.
SPEAKER_01Well, and we're just we're not um we're we're wussies now because we had this campfire. Uh it was a nice fire, big bonfire, you know. Get it going nice, and yeah, it was made the s'mores, and then we all came in and we're like, oh, we smell like wood smokes. We all we all took a shower before we went to bed, and I uh I washed off the clothes, and so uh we're like, oh, we're we're not campers anymore, I guess. And so because of all we did all that, we didn't go to bed till 1 30.
SPEAKER_00I know, and then what the next day stay up all?
SPEAKER_01I know, yeah. So where was these?
SPEAKER_00Um, where'd they come from? Fireworks, China. That's weird.
SPEAKER_01Where does everything come from?
SPEAKER_00China doesn't do anything.
SPEAKER_01They did fireworks. I know.
SPEAKER_00You see, see the new cars they're coming out with that they come out with.
SPEAKER_01Whoa.
SPEAKER_00And they won't bring them here because they'd probably
Sparklers Hurt More Than You Think
SPEAKER_00kill the market here. Pretty amazing.
SPEAKER_01Be what brand are they?
SPEAKER_00BYD is one of them.
SPEAKER_01Huh.
SPEAKER_00You can buy the stock. Oh, there's your stock tip. But anyway, I wouldn't I'm not suggesting that. But anyway, um back to fireworks. Yeah, what 200 BC?
SPEAKER_01200 or 2000 BC. Yeah, 200, it must be.
SPEAKER_00200. Bamboo.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so people were roasting hollow bamboo stocks.
SPEAKER_00Why did you do that at your bonfire?
SPEAKER_01And that uh but I would have thrown butt bamboo on there, and then exploded, and so that sound they thought would ward off evil spirits.
SPEAKER_00Oh, I like that.
SPEAKER_01And then later they added gunpowder because why not? Yeah, it makes sense, and then it was known as a bazoo firecracker.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, they added sulfur, charcoal, and potassium nitrate, which I guess is gunpowder. I don't know. Uh, it could be, and then they started using it in festivals, religious ceremonies, weddings, and like you said, to ward off the evil spirits.
SPEAKER_01And so fireworks have the four main effects noise, which we just talked about, light. Yeah. I mean, that's kind of the best part of them, smoke, and then floating material. Some people put confetti in them. Sometimes you're just getting the you know, fallout of them. And then the next day it's all over the lake, all over the lake or the woods. Um, yeah, it's pollution.
SPEAKER_00Animals are probably freaking out.
SPEAKER_01Animals freak out. They do. Pet not just pets, but wild animals.
SPEAKER_00But we don't care about animals.
SPEAKER_01But so you think about it, and we where we are.
SPEAKER_00There goes an animal.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Uh where we are, we have the lake. We don't have to worry about fires. I mean, so much. They light them off over the lake. But you know, in in uh drier places like Colorado, they have to worry about that. And so I think this year they had some bands on them.
SPEAKER_00Okay. You always see uh every year a couple severe explosions like factories, trucks, whatever going up. There was a big one. Oklahoma, I think.
SPEAKER_01I think China had a big one earlier this year. Um, yeah, and then you have ground ones or aerial ones, where you know, when you think about them, I always think of aerial ones, but I guess there's ground ones too.
SPEAKER_00What yeah, the ones you're talking about the ones you set on the ground, little fountains and stuff.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. Skyrocket ones, the aerial ones. Shot in the air by mortar. Oh, the ground ones are like the cake ones or the fountain.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah. Oh, the little suckers you put on, and then they well, I guess that would be aerial and ground because it can spin up.
SPEAKER_01Because they spin up.
SPEAKER_00Those are dangerous.
SPEAKER_01All of them are dangerous, really.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but they're good, good uh investment.
SPEAKER_01And did you ever see? I think it's a probably in a funny video where the dog goes and grabs a firework and run around with it and shakes it. Yeah, they're dangerous. Yeah, we were at a party once, and of course, everyone was drinking, and yeah, we got a bunch of fireworks, and they were lighting them off so close
Fireworks Origins And How They Work
SPEAKER_01to everything, and also they had something that they were using to light them off with, and there was propane. I'm like, I think we need to leave. And we did. Kabow. So we didn't die, nobody died.
SPEAKER_00Um, the first organized American Independence Day, which used fireworks, was 1777.
SPEAKER_01Wow.
SPEAKER_00Your good friend John Adams predicted that Americans would celebrate with bonfires and illuminations.
SPEAKER_01Man, he was dead ass. Yeah, maybe because night called John.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, way to go, John.
SPEAKER_01Thanks.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, they were symbolic because they um represented the cannon fire of the American Revolution.
SPEAKER_01Okay, and the ramparts and all of that.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Well, can you sing that?
SPEAKER_01No.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_01And you will thank me later.
SPEAKER_00How much do uh Americans spend on fireworks?
SPEAKER_01Um, I don't know, but I'm gonna guess a lot.
SPEAKER_002.3 billion annually.
SPEAKER_01Damn. Who do you think is the largest consumer in the U.S.?
SPEAKER_00I don't know. Fireworks consumers like you and I spend $1.9 billion, and then $400 million are spent on professional displays.
SPEAKER_01That's just too much.
SPEAKER_00Most families spend $100 to $300 every 4th of July.
SPEAKER_01I am way under that. Um, Disney is the largest consumer of fireworks in the U.S. They spend fifty million per year.
SPEAKER_00All year round.
SPEAKER_01All year round. They have fireworks every night.
SPEAKER_00That's something I forget. You know, you got Disney, you got like sporting events, concerts.
SPEAKER_01Sometimes weddings have them now. It's true.
SPEAKER_00I don't know what to think about that. Um, small towns spend from five to twenty thousand.
SPEAKER_01And what do you think Alpina spent this year?
SPEAKER_00Two probably, I don't know, I didn't see it, but probably too much.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, because I know they do a fundraiser all year long.
SPEAKER_00And I'm not gonna knock that. I think that's this is what bugs me a bit. We will do fundraising. Not not Alpina in general, but in general, us humans. We're weirdos. I spend money on dumb shit all the time. But we'll we'll we'll do this. We'll have people standing out at stoplights selling buttons for fireworks or in stores or buying ribbons. But what about people who are poor poverty or whatever? Pick your fucking cause where it actually needs the money, but it's just weird.
SPEAKER_01I just we do donate to m to causes that maybe aren't the best for humanity.
SPEAKER_00But that's just me being me.
SPEAKER_01And everybody has their you know thing for sure. We're all a whore to something. Some people are whore to fireworks.
SPEAKER_00Yes.
SPEAKER_01But there's 15, 11 to 15 people die per year.
SPEAKER_00Whores. Just kidding.
SPEAKER_01And there's 13,000 injuries. That's a lot, Kate. That's a lot. That's a lot. Fireworks cause roughly 34,000 fires every year.
SPEAKER_00Isn't that crazy? That's a lot of fires.
SPEAKER_01If it was anything else, people will go, oh what?
SPEAKER_00If your dishwasher was catching on fire like that, they'd be banning dishwashers, man.
SPEAKER_01They are bad for the environment. They release harmful air pollutants, sulfur dioxide, carbon monoxide, toxic metals. They pollute lakes, rivers, woods, the air pollution, the sound pollution, water contamination, wildlife distribu uh uh disruption. So the booms and the bright flashes do affect wildlife because it's not natural. Um uh we talked about they're banned in Massachusetts, illegal to sell by or use. Uh, aerial fireworks are banned in Arizona, California, New Jersey, and New York, which I thought was Michigan used to be in that. Interesting. I can remember you used to ride your motorcycle down to Indiana. People would drive, or if they were out of town, they'd bring home all these fireworks.
SPEAKER_00I remember that. I had a couple uncles that would run down that would go. You know, some of them. Yeah, they'd come back with a truck, truckload park. And then one of the places out in the Long Lake area used to sell them.
SPEAKER_01I don't know.
SPEAKER_00And yeah, but anyway.
Spending, Laws, Injuries, And Pollution
SPEAKER_01Hmm. And then uh the I thought this was interesting. In 2012, San Diego was gonna do a big bay boom. That was their fourth of July show. Well, they had a computer glitch, and all of the 17 minutes of fireworks show went off in 15 seconds.
SPEAKER_00Oh my gosh.
SPEAKER_01I bet it was amazing.
SPEAKER_00Pretty smoky. Can't see it.
SPEAKER_01That was very smoky. They said there was a wall of smoke, you couldn't see anything. Um, uh, the other fun thing, I mean, if you like fireworks, there's lots of fun things about it.
SPEAKER_00They are fun, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Um, firework manufacturers are known for their absurd names of the fireworks, like uh, and it's a marketing ploy. Unicorn puke.
SPEAKER_00That's a good one.
SPEAKER_01Uh neighbor hater. Uh uh Popo Magnet. Uh Cat Scat Fever. Nice. And don't forget the wacky tobacque. Oh, I saw that one. Smokes and spins. I saw that. Just like you've smoked wacky tobacco.
SPEAKER_00I haven't.
SPEAKER_01No, if you're do the fireworks.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Um have you been into the one of those over there? A dispensary? The yellow. I know the answer to that one. No, the yellow fireworks trucks in town can be. No, I don't purchase. You gotta go. Did you go anyone? Oh, yeah, that's where we buy our stuff. Oh, yeah. Everywhere.
SPEAKER_01So, what were yours named? Do you remember?
SPEAKER_00Uh the bees' knees. Oh, okay. Um, some color thing that had a big bear on it had like a lot of shots. Of the chameleon, that was the five-inch shells. Uh we had 24 of those. That that was fun. Let Joby light them, of course. Sure, let your but anyway, it was fun.
SPEAKER_01And there's a lot, you guys are by a lake, and I I'm assuming you're near the lake when you're lighting up on the dock. Yeah, on the dock. Perfect. Um, don't go in the boat. I know people who have done that. We'll go out in the boat and light them off. It's not good if something goes wrong. You're in the boat with them. Yeah, yeah, that's not cool. And people do lose limbs and not just lives, but limbs and uh face injuries was a big one.
SPEAKER_00I would imagine. Looking down the pipe.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but it didn't go.
SPEAKER_00I don't know. You know, that's probably part of the reason they're coming up with um what do you call those things? Drone shows and right.
SPEAKER_01So the alternatives are drone shows and uh oh, laser shows.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, there you go.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and the drone shows are really cool.
SPEAKER_00They could do some amazing things with drones.
SPEAKER_01And and it can be uh you know, it's not exactly the same, but it's a good substitute.
SPEAKER_00Because it's just like the difference between you can get an EV car that hauls access really fast, but but it's then you got a gas bar car, it's got that sound and that feel, even though now they program those cars to sound like that.
SPEAKER_01They do. Uh we drove a to Toyota Tacoma. Like, what's that? What's that sound? Oh, they pipe it in. They piped it in. Yeah, it's cool though. I mean, it's a good idea, I guess, if you need that sound, but yeah. Yeah. Um so what else do you want to say about fireworks?
SPEAKER_00I don't know. To me, they're meh. I mean, it's cool, and I buy I buy them and shoot them off with my kid. But if I didn't have a kid that liked it, guess what I wouldn't be doing? I wouldn't be shooting off fireworks.
SPEAKER_01But well, and then you think of the people that um you know are in have been in war and then they go to a fireworks show, that's gotta be traumatic.
SPEAKER_00Maybe not. For some.
SPEAKER_01I don't know.
SPEAKER_00I don't know. I mean, it is print, they're pretty. It's just we're weird. Humans are weird.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I'll I'll give it a I'll give it a hero.
SPEAKER_01Oh, okay. I'm giving it a dick.
SPEAKER_00Yes. Give it a dick.
SPEAKER_01I just think if the the bad outweighs the good of it.
SPEAKER_00Uh-oh, I think you're totally right.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. But don't forget that people go, what do they say after the fireworks squat? When the fireworks in the air and they go, ah.
SPEAKER_00Ooh. Ooh. You you don't like that?
SPEAKER_01That's one of the few things I like about fireworks. It's the crowd's reaction. Yeah. I I still say the bad always the good. No.
unknownNo.
SPEAKER_00It seems archaic, but I get it. I don't know. We're lame.
SPEAKER_01All right.
SPEAKER_00Well, it's it's Why are we so lame? Humans in general or us? No, you and I specifically. I mean, I'm lamer than you are.
unknownI don't know.
SPEAKER_00I guess if people want to chime in on that, they could tell us how lame we are. I don't know how they email us. Hero or dick2023 at gmail.com.
Ridiculous Firework Names And Party Chaos
SPEAKER_01True.
SPEAKER_00True.
SPEAKER_01I do have some fast vibes. And they have to do with uh being with family. So because we all just did that weekend holiday thing. So the first one is family reunions. Hero most of the time. Uh how about theme parties? Like sometimes the um sometimes people do the family reunion as a theme.
SPEAKER_00I don't like them.
SPEAKER_01No. No.
SPEAKER_00I mean I feel I sound like an asshole. It's a dick. I don't like it. Okay. You you're entitled to your opinion.
SPEAKER_01How about a party game? Like ring toss or cornhole.
SPEAKER_00No, those are those are good. Because sometimes you can not know somebody at a party, or you know, you don't have that vibe where you talk with them, but you can play a game with them and have chit-chat and yes, agreed.
SPEAKER_01Okay, here's a uh how about potluck? Food. It can be really good or really bad. You can get really sick from it because you don't know the kitchen it's coming from.
SPEAKER_00I know. I'm gonna say hero because people are putting together effort to come together and share.
SPEAKER_01Yes, yes, but if you say you're bringing rolls and you Bring puppy chow instead. That's not the same thing.
SPEAKER_00Oh, but is puppy chow better? No. Depends on the bread.
SPEAKER_01You don't like puppy chow?
SPEAKER_00I bet you you make some good puppy chow.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I know.
SPEAKER_00I've never made it with marshmallows.
SPEAKER_01No, yeah. Well, it probably has marshmallows in it. That's why I don't like it. Uh bread. Oh my god. The last one is family tree. What? A family tree. Like the tree like you No, no, I think a tree that you plant. No, like your relatives. Oh, it's heroic. Yeah. Yeah, I think it's a hero.
SPEAKER_00I tried that um Genealogy. Myheritage.com or something last year, and I was getting into it, but then I got out of it. I don't know.
SPEAKER_01I just was looking at I need to get back into it because we were researching it in Canada just changed their law that it used to be you could apply for our citizenship if your parents or grandparents were in Canada. Now they've opened it up to great-grandparents. I'm still researching him. I haven't narrowed down to where he was born in well in Canada in Ontario, but I need to I need a town because I need his
Drone Shows And The Hero Or Dick Vote
SPEAKER_01birth certificate stuff.
SPEAKER_00Hey. That explains your accent.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, hey? Yeah. You're on fireworks.
SPEAKER_01When we leave, we have an accent. Did you know that when you leave the county or leave the state? Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I have been teased about my Canook accent.
SPEAKER_00When I lived in St. Paul, they thought.
SPEAKER_01And in St. Paul.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Minnesota. Oh. They thought I was from Canada. I'm like, no.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. We mount in fact when we go overseas sometimes. Now here's a big secret. We tell people we're from Canada.
SPEAKER_00Do you have to do it? Oh yeah. Didn't you buy like a c Canadian blanket or something? I have. And you were sitting on it and said you told me you were. I don't know, something like that. Oh, that's what it was for.
SPEAKER_01Here's a good Canadian story. Uh so we were out of town. We were in Canada. And we went out to eat. I used my credit card. Everything's fine. I went to buy something. My credit card wouldn't work. I'm like, what the hell? So it was declined. So I called them and they're like, Well, are you in a foreign country? And I said, No, I'm in Canada. Oh. Yes. Yes, I am. So please flag my card as such.
SPEAKER_00You didn't leave it there, did you?
SPEAKER_01In Canada? No.
SPEAKER_00Like you did when you were traveling last time.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. And Jenna brought me that card up and forgot to give it to me. She's still using it too.
unknownIt probably is.
SPEAKER_01They left early uh in the Sunday morning to go back to GR. And um she called me about 45 minutes later.
Fast Vibes On Family And Genealogy
SPEAKER_01Uh I forgot to give you that card. It's fine.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. No problem. All right. You got other places to go. I do. I have she's got another podcast that she's starting.
SPEAKER_01What's it called?
SPEAKER_00Wacky Tobacky. It's down at the local dispensary. So if you want to just walk in there and what should that be about?
SPEAKER_01Uh try different weed? I'm not really into weed.
SPEAKER_00You gotta make it about something like really complex.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you need a uh uh all right.
Email Us Ideas And Goodbye
SPEAKER_00What's our next topic?
SPEAKER_01Well, I don't know.
SPEAKER_00Okay, please.
SPEAKER_01If anybody has any ideas, feel free to email them to us.
