In this episode, we discuss:
- Home birth in Maine
- Olivia shares how she planned to have a home birth but due to her baby being in the breech presentation, and certified professional midwives (CPM) in Maine being prevented by the laws of the licensure to attend these types of variations of normal at home, she was encouraged by her cpm to just go to the hospital and have a c-section.
- Cesarean birth story at Miles Memorial Hospital in Darmiscotta, Maine
- Midwifery care and doula support in Maine
- Olivia is now pregnant again and shares about how she is attempting an HBAC or Home Birth After Cesarean, as the licensure laws have recently changed in Maine to allow CPM's to attend these types of births at home.
- ….and a whole lot more!
You can skip ahead to hear Olivia share about her attempted HBAC after the birth experience shared in this episode spoiler... it was also a hospital birth due to another type of restrictions on the care her midwife was able to provide due to the CPM licensure laws that took effect in 2019.
