You Don't Need to Chase Greatness When It Already Lives Inside You
Greatness isn't just something we observe in others but something God has already placed within us. We often get drawn to the light in others without recognizing our own capacity for greatness.
• Scripture reminder from Psalm 139:14 that we are "fearfully and wonderfully made"
• Greatness is already in us, but we need to partner with God to activate it
• Being around successful people doesn't automatically transfer their greatness to you
• A personal story about the value of mentorship in recognizing your own potential
• Remember your greatness regardless of your current life circumstances
• Put knowledge and wisdom behind your inherent greatness through dedicated work

Good morning y'all. So this is Saturday Fuel, and so, for those of y'all who never seen this before, I'm Shelly. I come on on Saturdays. I just give little tits bits and pieces of encouragement, if you will. So today I'm looking at my notes over here. Today I want to talk about the proximity to greatness, and a lot of times we're looking for greatness in other people. We're looking for greatness in other people, but as I was sitting here thinking about the greatness that's already in us, I thought this is something that would be really cool to share with you. So, literally what I wrote in my notes is greatness isn't. It's not just something that we observe in other people, it's something that God has already placed in us, and I'm going to back this up with scripture and I hope this is going to encourage you and if you like this, please like and share with someone who could benefit from this word. So something that we do, y'all, is that when we see greatness in others, we get drawn to that light, and I just don't want us to miss the fact that we also have this capacity for greatness.
Speaker 1:Psalm 1399, verse 14, is one of my favorite ones. I'm going to read it to you from the ESV version. It says I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works. My soul knows it very well. So I think there's two things here. First of all is we recognize that we are fearfully and wonderfully made. We're wonderfully made. The Lord put thought you know behind who we are and when he created us. Greatness is actually already in you and we have the capacity to do incredible, amazing things. So I want to encourage you to just remember that. Where we kind of mess up y'all is the second part, where it says you know what David was saying. My soul knows it very well. Like I know that there's greatness in me and what I have to do then is I partner with the Lord to activate that thing in me. What he put in me, the greatness is already in me. But a lot of times what people do is they get drawn to the light of other people, other folks who might be wealthier, who might look the part, say the things smell good, all the things. You know what I'm saying and we forget that we also have that greatness in us when you're put in a situation.
Speaker 1:I had this amazing opportunity yesterday. One of my mentors and I'm not saying people's names on here, but one of my mentors took me to lunch yesterday. One of my mentors and I'm not saying people's names on here, but one of my mentors took me to lunch yesterday and I just wanted to catch up and have a kind of a life and career update conversation Like this is where I'm at. What are you thinking? This is where I'd like to do what are your thoughts about this and get some guidance. And what my mentor did for me and I have multiple mentors okay, what my mentor did for me is what I have traditionally been doing for other people is that I help you to recognize that greatness in you and I kind of pull, yank that thing out.
Speaker 1:Sometimes, again, we have to be reminded that we are fearfully and wonderfully made. We have greatness in us, and so I walked away from that meeting feeling so empowered. It wasn't that she was telling me things that I didn't know, but she was showing me things from a different perspective and then how to put that in play. It doesn't mean, y'all that there isn't correction and things that you've got to do right. So being great is one thing, but you have to be able to put knowledge and wisdom behind that so you can kind of do the things that you want to do. So when I walked away, I felt so full and light and happy because it was someone who was speaking positive things and corrections into my life so I can walk this thing out.
Speaker 1:The one thing that she reminded me is I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are his works and my soul knows it. Okay, my soul needed to be reminded. My soul knows it. So greatness is in you. Don't keep looking for proximity to greatness. Don't think that because you go to the next class or you pay for a specific coaching or please don't come for me, I know what I'm saying, okay, get me on. Don't think that because you start dressing like someone or you start buying their perfume or all the things, that that proximity to greatness is going to activate something in you and all of a sudden you're just as great.
Speaker 1:Greatness is in you. You are wonderfully made, you're amazing, you're talented, you're gifted, you're on the right path. Victory is yours. You're going to harvest a great thing. Your family is blessed, you're blessed. All and everything that you're dreaming, hoping, all of your desires, all these things will happen for you. You're going to have to put some work behind it. Yes, we know, but I just want to come here and remind you that greatness is in you as well, all right. So I pray that this bless you. I hope this reaches you wherever you are, whatever season of life. It don't matter what season of life you're in, it doesn't matter your financial situation, it doesn't matter if things aren't going the way you thought they would go this season. Just hold on to this seed, y'all, and then put the work behind it. Right, put the work behind it, it looks like. Then you start strategizing, using wisdom, asking God to guide you. He will send you the resources and help you on your way. Greatness is in you, all right. So I hope this blessed you. Please like, love and share this Again.
Speaker 1:Thank you so much for giving me just a little space to come on this morning. Thank you so much for those of y'all who are supporting me. What a tremendous, awesome day we're going to have today. It's Saturday and I want you to look for the blessings, and I also want you to look for confirmation today from what I just shared with you and as the Lord is confirming some things and reminding some of us, you know you might have gone through a job loss, a project loss, a spouse loss or even some kind of loss. Maybe you just came out of a tough season and you are tie red. Okay, as we're living the soft life, as the girls are doing, we need to be reminded that greatness is in us. It's already here. All right, all right, y'all take care, have a great day and thank you for watching. Bye.
