Andrew A. Curtiss, was born in Rome, New York in November 1977. He grew up in Upstate New York. He has been involved in the martial arts since the age of 4. Inspired by his father, he trained in the arts of grappling since the age of 7 by enrolling in Pee-Wee wrestling programs and continuing through out his senior year of high school. By the age of 16 he had attained his first black belt in Tae-Kwon-Do under the instruction of Cady's Academy of Martial Arts out of Boonville New York. Andrew has held the title of 1995 A. I. K. A (American Independent Karate Association) National Black Belt Champion in forms, weapons and Kumite. He was an amateur World Champion Kickboxing "Runner up" in his weight class in 1995. Andrew is now a professional Mixed Martial Artist. He has attained a Black belt ranking in Kempo as well as an Honorary Brown belt in  Kano Jiu-jitsu. He holds a purple belt in Jiu- Jitsu under Professor John Siracusano. Andy served in the US Army in elite units such as F Company 51st Infantry (Long Range Surveillance) and the 3rd Special Forces Group as Weapons Sergeant. He served two tours in the Global War on Terror, was nominated for the Silver Star and received the Bronze Star with V Device. He is a Diplomatic Security Specialist and has worked protecting high profile music artists. Andrew is the author of Combat Application Techniques: Principles of Destruction, a book written based on the combatives program he developed for his Special Forces A-Team. He is a tactical trainer available for Combatives, Edged weapon, counter edged weapon and defensive tactics courses and seminars.
