Real life means real pressures, but Prayer Reaches Every Single Situation (PRESS)! We don't always know how God will get in our situation, but we can be assured that He will get into our situations. Let's press together! Like, share and subscribe this weekly podcast for God-given prayer strategies for the end time followers of Jesus Christ.
The PRESS started in 2012 as a project for the Turning Point Youth Department (TPYD). The initial purpose of the PRESS was to actively recruit people to pray and document their prayer time so that TPYD could account for 1,000,000 minutes of prayer in one month. Not only did TPYD reach it's goal of accounting for a million minutes of prayer, but it was soon realized that the PRESS was bigger than simply counting minutes. In just a few short months of advertising, TPYD was on TV, radio, doing conferences and had over 17,000 fans on Facebook. The movement was only beginning! Now there a have been PRESS clubs in over 40 locations- including universities, YMCAs, neighborhoods, high schools and more! We are so excited for what the Lord has done through the PRESS!

Press means to apply force when God said press prayer reaches every single situation He gave us permission to apply force to every situation that we will go through And in this podcast we are going to learn to apply force to what's applying pressure to us Hello everybody. Welcome to the press podcast. I just wanted to mix it up and not say greetings But today let's go to the book of first samuel Chapter 1 verse 11 This is the prayer for today And it's prayed by a woman named hannah Hannah is the wife of elkanah And elkanah sounds like a great man.
He does have two wives, but that's perfectly acceptable then His first wife her name is penina And she has many children the bible says Hannah doesn't have any but elkanah still goes out of his way to make sure that hannah feels special and when he gives tribute to Penina and her children he gives extra to hannah though. She has none The bible says that elkanah loved her at one point even asked her am I not better to thee than ten sons? He was trying But hannah has a void inside because hannah wants a child in those days and times, especially a woman's value could be Seen as less if she's not able to produce a male child for her husband so failure to Become a mother Even though today it's hard Then it was a matter of sometimes survival of status And how you would be treated not just With your spouse but in society Hannah wants a son the bible says year after year that she and her husband and Penina and all of them went up To make an offering to the lord and when she goes up to the house of the lord The bible says she was provoked She wept sore her adversary Penina is picking on her She's sad she has a lot going on And she's picking on her for something. She can't change And she has to daily live with seeing this woman who's talking about her give her husband something She can't give him This is not a fight.
Hannah got to get away from this is not something she could just take a break and turn off This was a struggle for her That was being rubbed in And no matter what was in her face And she had to keep herself together no matter what But she's tired now the bible says every year Her adversary provoked her sword to make her fret to make her out of swords because the lord had shut up her womb And as he did so year by year when she went up to the house of the lord, so she provoked her Therefore she wept and did not eat. I'm in verse 7 Then said elkanah her husband to her hannah Why weepest thou and why eatest thou not and why is the heart grieved am not I better to thee than ten sons? He's trying to say the right things He's like, why are you down? Why won't she eat anything? Hannah? Aren't I good enough as a woman? I really feel like elkanah missed the point here. There was a void he couldn't feel And so making this about him Just caused her to do what's in the next verse she got up and after she had eaten in shiloh and they had drunk She goes to the temple of the lord And she was in bitterness of soul and prayed and wept sore She went ahead and Looked the part he wanted her to look But it couldn't help Or change what was inside and that's why I say elkanah messed up He didn't get this isn't about you He didn't get that all those things you're asking her about are just symptoms of what's actually happening inside He didn't understand her pain But she knew who could she took all the bitterness.
She took all of the Sorrow, and she went to the lord's house And there she prayed what we see in first samuel 1 11 as her prayer her prayer is a vow to god O lord of hosts If thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of thine handmaid And remember me and not forget thine handmaid, but will give unto thine handmaid a man child Then I will give him unto the lord all the days of his life And there shall no razor come upon his head and it came to pass As she continued praying before the lord that eli marked her mouth She makes this vow to the lord that god if you give me a child i'll give him back to you And when she does that She also continues praying after that. We don't know what she said after that But we do know Eli was there. He's the priest and all he can see is that her mouth is moving But he can't hear any words because the bible says she said the words only in her heart So eli thinks this lady is drunk And she said no my lord i'm a woman of sorrowful spirit I've drunk neither wine or strong drink, but i've poured out my soul before the lord If hannah teaches us nothing else She teaches us how to pour it out There are some prayers when it comes to god You just have to let it come out the way it's coming out for her It wasn't even the volume of the words god's not interested in how loud you are or how quiet you are Prayer does always involve your mouth the very definition of the word prayer palav It always involves your mouth and we see her mouth is moving but it's not about volume.
It's not about octave this prayer was about her emptying out to god about her reaching a breaking point about her mourning all the Stuff she's had to endure by being teased by this woman She has to live with and by seeing her give kids to a man. She loves This was all of that pain Letting it go towards god. I need you.
I need you to do something for me And if you do this for me, I will give it back to you But i've got to tell you where I am. I've got to tell you how I feel i've got to empty this out Today, I encourage you do not hold back from god Sometimes we build walls for people because we don't trust them And so we learn how to survive moments where they don't have to see our emotion As I just stated we see that with hannah and her husband in verse 8 9 when he makes it lovingly about him. Yes But all about him so she just goes with it.
She's like, okay, i'll eat i'll drink. Okay, but it doesn't do anything for her It's easy to say nobody's watching. Nothing's changing.
Let me just deal with it on the inside. I'm just going to Suffer through whatever I gotta suffer through and remain in silence, but that day she decided quiet was not an option That day she decided that I have to pour out my heart. I have to get this out of me I have to dump this at his feet I'm telling you today if there's something that you've been holding on to if there's something that's hard for you to process If there's something you've been carrying it's hurting you.
This is a good day to pour it out You don't have to have all the words you don't have to be loud you don't have to scream But letting god be god inviting him in this situation Is what you do in prayer? It's acknowledging. He's god. He's great.
You can I can't but i'm gonna give you everything I have so that You know where to meet me and when I get up from here, i'm not gonna have anything left There's gonna be nothing new to say nothing new to give I'm giving it all to you She poured out her soul to the lord when eli got done Asking if she was drunk and she let him know. No, no, no. No, it's nothing like that She said my complaint in grief.
Have I spoken? She let him have it She let the lord have it not in a disrespectful way like she went off on him But in a conceding a yielding i'm letting you have this Then eli answered and said go in peace And the god of israel grant thee thy petition that thou has asked of him The bible says and she said let that handmaid find grace in thy sight So the woman went her way and did eat and her consciousness was no more sad He told her go Calm down Let god have it Let god grant your answer And she took that and became joyful About what god would do Just the thought of knowing god is going to answer changed her whole confidence She teaches us about faith in that. She didn't have an answer yet. She didn't see an answer yet But what she heard was god's going to grant your petition.
So it's time to have peace When she saw the answer was coming she got peace When she knew god heard her she was ready to walk in peace the bible says and she was no more sad We need to have that kind of faith Because these things are written for our encouragement for our edification for our understanding of who god is The whole point going through all the prayers of the bible is to look at the strategy of god how to approach him And how he responds? And how we should respond to him Hannah teaches us how to respond here Hannah teaches us that you can go into prayer one way And be honest with god Walk away Knowing that the answer is in his hands And then get happy before you see the answer She teaches us That we do not have to see it Before we praise god We have these things written So we know some promises of god. There's some things we ask him to do that. He's already said i'll do that You just need to know where it's at in the book so you can grab hold of the scripture and believe it to the point That my whole continence changes my whole approach to the situation changes Why because I talk to god and I know what his word is I pray today that we walk by faith and not by sight I pray that we believe god just at his word because his promise is coming but his word is now Believe him now get joy now Before you see it.
