Press means supply force. When God said press, prayer reaches every single situation. He gave us permission to apply force to every situation that we will go through.

And in this podcast, we are going to learn to apply force to what's applying pressure to us. Isn't God good? We are now in 2025. If you are listening to this podcast, you made it over.

I don't know how you did it. I don't know what you had to go through. I don't know if you left your way into 2025, cried or slept.

But I do know that God has been good to us. And we are here now. And we give God thanks for this day.

Welcome to the Press Movement Podcast 2025. As we continue journeying through every prayer virtually in the Bible and studying the books as we go along, today we're going to make a pit stop in the book of Proverbs with the only prayer that I can find recorded in Proverbs. We're going to Proverbs chapter 30.

Much of the book of Proverbs is written by Solomon. Some people say there were others that contributed to this book, but even this chapter that we're going to, chapter 30, the words of Agar, son of Jacob, most people say that Agar was a fancy name for Solomon. So we're going to take a look at Proverbs chapter 30 verse 7 through 9. And the prayer we're looking at says, two things have I required of thee, deny me them not before I die.

Remove far from me vanity and lies. Give me neither poverty nor riches. Feed me with food convenient for me.

Lest I be full and deny thee and say, who is the Lord? Or lest I be poor and steel and take the name of my God in vain. I believe this is a perfect prayer to kick off this year. A prayer that can really establish us for this year.

It tells us what we should be asking for from God. One, don't let me be vain. Take away from me everything that's false, everything that's empty, everything that's worthless, and take away anything in me that lies.

And that lie has to deal with the word speech. So the things that are said that are lies. I've learned the biggest lies are not the ones people tell about us or even the ones people tell to us, but it's the ones we put on repeat in our mind that we give voice to, that we take on as part of our identity.

Those lies have more power. I love that the word vanity, if you look it up in its Hebrew definition, it also says lies or lying and emptiness, as I mentioned. But the word lies here, the way it actually says lies in the Bible in English, when you look that up in the Hebrew, it starts talking about speech or speaking or utterances or sayings.

This year, I don't want anything that's a lie. I don't want to talk like a lie. I don't want to sound like a lie.

I don't want to live a lie. This year, even in my own heart and mind, I want to walk in truth. And I pray that you'll take that.

And even with yourself, make sure you're telling yourself the truth this year. Be honest with yourself. Be honest with who you are, what you are, and the fact that God made you.

Don't tell yourselves lies. Because the truth is, God has already predetermined that we all have value. I love the scripture in Job 33 and 4, the spirit of God hath made me and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life.

To me, that just talks about value. It shows me that I was not an afterthought when it came to God. He made me on purpose.

And anything that tells me differently is a lie. Likewise, I can't excuse my faults or my failures. I have to deal in my reality and know that when I do fail or when I am at fault or when my personality is an issue, it's not okay.

I have a God who can save me, change me, and customize me to the way He wants me to be. And He has a way of turning our faults and our failures and even our personality flaws, and I say flaws in quotation marks, are flaws into something He can use. This year, whether it's a win or it feels like a loss, I want to make sure that we are asking God to help us to walk in truth and not to live a lie.

God, remove from me anything that's empty, anything that's worthless, and anything that's a lie. Then the Bible says, give me neither poverty nor riches. I've learned in my life that extremes are not what I like.

I don't like extreme anything. I don't want extremely hot or extremely cold. I don't like when people seem extremely happy or extremely sad.

And I'm sorry, there's nothing wrong with being happy, but I'm talking about people who just are over the top. And I'm like, I'm happy for you, but this is a little much. But I've learned I don't like extremes.

I understand this scripture because when you have too much, you can forget about God. It's so easy to say, I'll handle it. You know, recently I got sick and I thought, oh, it's just a cold.

I wasn't too worried about praying about it because I'm like, it's just a cold, right? I figured it's not a big deal. So we got to day six. Then all of a sudden I'm like, you know what? From the beginning, I should have said, Lord, touch my body.

God, I need you to heal me. Because now that I'm lingering in this thing, I want to say, oh Lord, help me. But when you think you've got it, when you think you can do it, you don't tend to ask for the same level of help.

And that's how it can be being rich where you don't need the Lord to make a way. You don't need God to be a provider you feel like, because you can feel like I can go to work. I can do it myself.

And rich is not a certain number. Rich is a mindset because there are people who have a bazillion dollars and you know what? They may still know they need God. They may still, rich is not a certain number, but there's a mindset that this prayer is addressing.

And it's the mindset of don't let me get to a place where I don't think I need you anymore. And there's people like that who may be making a lot to some. And there's people like that who may not be making a lot compared to some, but to that individual, it is a lot.

And they think I got this. I don't need nobody. I'm out here making my money.

I'm doing this. I can do me. I can take care of me.

That's the mindset he's praying to avoid. But he also says, give me neither poverty. God, I don't want to be poor either.

I don't want to be to the place where I think I might steal or rob or anything like that. I want to have all of what I need and some of what I want. He said, feed me with food convenient for me.

Give me what I can handle what you've prescribed for me. Give me what my boundaries can deal with. Sometimes we just want God to make us rich.

I've heard that be a goal of people. And I felt sad for them because the thing about money, once you have some, you can almost never have enough. You always want more.

There's always more things. There's always new technology. There's always something else to buy.

Money doesn't really fill that void. It appears to with things, but it doesn't. There's some things more valuable money just can't buy.

So chasing being rich is so empty. But what he's saying is, give me what I can handle. Give me what you say is good for me.

Give me what you know, my limits won't forget you. And he goes on to say that, lest I be full and deny thee and say, who is the Lord? God, I don't ever want to forget about you because my needs not so big. And I don't want to take the name of my God in vain, which means to handle it in vain, handle it like it's empty, handle it like an overthought.

This year I'm asking God, keep me from the lies and don't let me be too rich or too poor. I don't want to forget about you. Prayerfully, you can see why this prayer is so important for 2025.

I don't know what the year holds. I don't know where the spiritual warfare will be. I don't know where we're going to have to battle or what we're going to have to fight.

But I do know if I can pray and bring myself under subjection, then whatever's going on around me or what's to happen to me, God will keep me stable and settled. He'll keep me provided for and he'll keep me walking in truth. And in that, I will exalt his name.

So prayerfully, this prayer is a blessing to you and one you can put in your toolbox as you are seeking God for this year. Remove far from me vanity and lies. Give me neither poverty nor riches.

Feed me with food convenient for me, lest I be fooled and deny thee and say, who is the Lord? Or lest I be poor and steal and take the name of my God in vain. Be blessed and have a great day and do not forget, no matter what, that prayer reaches every single situation. God bless you.
