Interview with Music Legend Royalty Tito Puente Jr.
Tito Puente Jr. is a percussionist, bandleader, songwriter, and producer born into music royalty-as the son of Maestro Tito Puente, known as El Rey de los Timbales, The King of Latin Music, and The Mambo King.
Tito Puente Jr. lives his father’s energic and vibrate legacy through the joy of music and love for the contagious rhythms of Latin Jazz and the sounds of Latin percussion.
Tito Puente Jr. is an award-winning musician. He carries his legendary father’s name, charismatic smile. euphoric natural high-on-life and love for percussion reflected in the spirit he spreads around the world wherever he goes. Tito Puente Jr. will forever keep his father’s legacy alive, as he continues to be an example to different generations by enriching their lives through the love and power of Latin music.
As a young teen, Tito Puente Jr. first fell in love with heavy metal Rock music. His father encouraged him to formally study music. Tito Puente was immensely proud of this music and as such, encouraged Tito Puente Jr. to perfect his craft. The Latin rhythmic pattern called “clave” sparked his interest in learning about Mambo, leading Tito Puente Jr. to study the technicalities of reading and writing music.
As a father himself, Tito Puente Jr. looks back and realizes how he learned to be an example father figure to his children as he continues to commit himself to teaching the value of music to keep his father’s legacy alive for generations to come.
