SPEAKER_04

Is the sound going through? Welcome everybody to season three, episode one of Hammer Nails It. Yay! There it is. There it is. Turn the buttons over. That's the one for a prize.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Season three. Can you believe it?

SPEAKER_01

This is gonna be a recap.

SPEAKER_04

Uh season episode one is gonna be a recap of what we did last year. We're gonna talk about some different things. So, what do you want to talk about? We had a really good season last year. We want to talk about other things. The number one thing that we talked about last year was the Bears. We had a really great Bears season last year. Just about. Well, I think what happened with the Bears last year was we didn't expect them to be a killer team, and they turned out to be a really strong team. It was you know in '85 when the Bears took the field, you knew they were gonna win. It wasn't a matter of whether they were gonna win, it was a matter of by how much they were going to win. You know what I mean? Because our defense was so powerful, they were so overwhelming, they were just going to win.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, exactly.

SPEAKER_04

So this year, when they took the field, it was in matter of fact, as I recall, we lost the first two games of the season.

SPEAKER_01

Exactly.

SPEAKER_04

So no, when we lost the first two games of the season, we went on from there, and then uh we came back and we won, and we started winning a lot, and we actually got into the playoffs and we won the first game of the playoffs. Everybody's like, Super Bowl, Super Bowl, and I'm like, relax, guys, relax. We had not look we got a Super Bowl team yet. But it was a very exciting season because we played well, we played good. When we lost, we lost by a fingernail. It was exciting. It was exciting. We had a couple of uh of uh uh Hail Mary wins. Oh, yeah, and then we had our our buddy Caleb, the quarterback, who threw some really last-minute clutch touchdowns, and we had a couple of clutch pass connections.

SPEAKER_05

Very excitement.

SPEAKER_04

It was a very exciting season for the Bears, and that was one of the big things we talked about last year in our podcast. So hopefully this coming season. Well, it's it's currently February, so we're gonna start talking baseball. Actually, it's March. It's March. March. Baseball, baseball, yeah, baseball.

SPEAKER_01

Well, I'm very upset that the Chicago Bears trading more. He was my favorite player, and that's very upset.

SPEAKER_04

He had a big uh uh uh contract. So they had to trade him in order to get underneath the contract ceiling, and I'm upset to get rid of him because he was a good player, but it was important to get below that contract ceiling. We had to get the the money down.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, they shouldn't.

SPEAKER_04

You know what we need to do? We need to turn these lights over here off. I'll go get him. Yes, yes.

SPEAKER_06

No?

SPEAKER_03

Go ahead and keep talking about the bears.

SPEAKER_01

What can you do? But we'll see how they're gonna do this year. The big thing right now that's is where they're gonna where they're gonna be. You know? Where they're gonna be. Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

You know what, you know what playoffs are better. The Bills got now when we switch. What what is his name? The the play-o. They're good playoff we got.

SPEAKER_04

Where did more get more get traded? But where did more get traded to? I uh uh let's ask Google. Where did more get where did the Chicago Bears player Moore get traded to? I think you're right. I think New Jersey. Buffalo, Buffalo Bills. Buffalo Bills.

SPEAKER_05

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

But uh yeah, now the big controversy is where is the Bears in the solder field? Where the Jersey didn't play someone. Stay tuned to that and find out what's in the long time.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

Uh, the recap I would say is Jimmy Kimmel.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, Jimmy Kimmel, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, favorite shows. I'm so glad that he fought.

SPEAKER_04

Fought. He got back. Yes. And you know what's really funny is I I watched the reviewed and reviewed and watched the the episode that supposedly got him fired. He didn't do anything to to warrant getting fired in that episode. No. I mean, there were other things that were much worse to get fired for.

SPEAKER_05

Yes. I I don't understand this. Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

They pushed him pretty hard, but he got fired for something that he probably shouldn't have gotten fired for. They were just pushing. And then that was, I'm sorry. As soon as the government gets involved with the media, that is uh uh the end of freedom of the press, and that is the end of I mean that's what they did over in with in uh uh Germany when the Nazis were in charge, they shut down the media, they took over the media because they control what you see and what you hear, they got no right to control the media media. And let's face it, Jimmy Kimmel does a very good job of making this administration look bad. It the administration doesn't they didn't he doesn't have to do anything to make the administration look bad. The administration makes itself look bad, but he points it out really in a comical way. And then so we talk about Jimmy Kimmel a lot last year. So we'll talk about him again. We'll talk about him again this year, too, I'm sure.

SPEAKER_05

Yes, yeah, this time last year you were in Arizona.

SPEAKER_01

You want to see Rachel our husband, Jen, and we had a great time and uh we did so much in a week because they're a week and they were running. We were we were in the mountains, we were we were at tombstone. I mean, we were everywhere. Oh, we had a three-hour ride one day and went to tombstone, and then three hours back was six hours in the car.

SPEAKER_04

I was in the lost this time last year. We had snow in Chicago. Yes.

SPEAKER_01

But I was in Arizona and it was weird because it was like cold where you wore a sweatshirt, and then one day it was like warm where we went to the pool.

SPEAKER_04

No, sometimes it is March. It is March. Even even in Arizona, it is March.

SPEAKER_01

And I had never been to Arizona, so it was very exciting. And they they took me around and we did a lot. We went to a botanical garden and I'm glad you enjoyed yourself.

SPEAKER_05

I bet you eat a lot downhill.

SPEAKER_01

We did eat a lot.

SPEAKER_05

What the different kind of foods you you get downhill? No. Same thing, white back hill.

SPEAKER_01

No, we went to pizza and pasta, and it was like Chicago pasta.

SPEAKER_05

Oh, okay. I thought maybe they do it differently.

SPEAKER_01

Then we went to this really fun Chinese place that had really good Chinese food, and they had like a like a musical thing. Big uh they had some in person there, and then they had a guy come out and sing, and what the owner of the restaurant sang too, and he did Frank Sinatra and everything.

SPEAKER_04

That nice. So we talked about your trip to Arizona, and we talked about our weather. We talked about our weather a lot here in Chicago because we have a lot of weather. We talked about our trips to Michigan. We took three trips to Michigan. Yes. One in one in uh Memorial Day, one in Labor Day, one in at uh uh uh Memorial Day, Labor Day, and Fourth of July. Fourth of July. I had uh which one did I forget? Uh the fourth of July July.

SPEAKER_01

We had the year before we went without mom because she was in rehab. That was the first time we went for 4th of July, and we said, Oh, this is so fun. We should come up for 4th of July. So we did this year. We took mom with us and we saw the drones.

SPEAKER_04

Then we got the shows, yes, and we we we picked fresh cherries.

SPEAKER_05

Cherries, and then we picked cherries on the fourth fireworks at the we at the we see fireworks at the drone show was not as good this year as it was last year.

SPEAKER_01

I don't know. It's okay. But she had never seen it, so that's beautiful. It was her first time seeing it. She thought it was good.

SPEAKER_04

And it was nice, you know, you could bring the dogs there. The dogs are not afraid of the fireworks. There's no fireworks, there's just drones.

SPEAKER_05

They're beautiful.

SPEAKER_01

I mean in the lake.

SPEAKER_04

She loves to go swimming in the lake.

SPEAKER_05

Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

She had a blast.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, she's a Labrador. Labrador is a water dog. Oh, yeah. She loves to go swimming. Don't you, Remy? You like to go swimming? You go swimming, Remy? You go so she's looking at me. She goes swimming. You go swimming.

SPEAKER_01

I lost my job. So June was not a good month. And uh here we are in March and I still am not working.

SPEAKER_04

But the economy is fantastic.

SPEAKER_03

I know it sucks.

SPEAKER_05

Yes.

SPEAKER_01

I don't understand that the food industry and distribution of food um uh production lines.

SPEAKER_04

I'm sorry that you kind of fell into that same trap.

SPEAKER_01

But we're we're trying some new stuff and God, this is what the direction God wants me to go, so I keep dreaming about it. So, we'll talk about that on on upcoming episodes of what we're we're wanna do.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And then it was kind of a sad ending of the year. My friend Melanie, my best friend died right before Christmas. And my dad passed the day after Christmas.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, the end of the year was very sad.

SPEAKER_05

Bad ill.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. Well Melanie died. Melanie died suddenly. Yeah, Papa Joe was sick for a while. Papa Joe was 80. Yeah. I have to give a shout-out to my sister and my brother-in-law and my nephews. They've been doing a lot of work on that house. They're doing a lot more to that house than I would have done. Yes. So every time I go there, they've done something, and I'm sitting there thinking, well, I could have done that, but I didn't know that that was what something we were planning on doing.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. We could have done it.

SPEAKER_01

But you know, the thing is, is that that's where we've really been focusing the last three months, and we haven't really been online now doing our show.

SPEAKER_04

Came at a good time. Yes. So oh my god, did he have so much stuff?

SPEAKER_01

Dolls. If anybody needs dolls.

SPEAKER_04

Wow. I think we need to we need to clarify on the dolls. Yes.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, there's not even a mark on any of them, and I must have a hundred.

SPEAKER_04

They're banned. Aston Aston Drake dolls. They're they are primarily of babies and and small, you know, pre- toddler uh uh things. They have porcelain heads and hands and arms. And then they're they're they're they're just different things. Some of them, like one of them is a baseball player, one of them is James Kurt from Star Trek. A couple of them are are caterpillar dolls.

SPEAKER_01

Um we have them for eBay, they have them for still uh Mercury, I have them for offer up.

SPEAKER_04

It says that they're worth certain amounts of money, but you put them out there for that certain amount of money and nobody's interested in them.

SPEAKER_01

So it's gotta be somebody who collects.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, I hope we I hope we can get a good collector to buy them all.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I even I even joined some like Facebook groups that deal in dolls. So I'm looking to try to figure out and do some research on how I could do like a live auction where I can auction them off online so people are interested in them can come on to that site and do that.

SPEAKER_04

So I'm doing a little bit of research on that, but yeah, but yeah, so it might not be a bad idea, yeah. No, but with the problem is we have to get the the getting it to the auction house and getting into onto the auction bid, and then there's a minimum bid, and then there's people have to be people have to be interested in buying them. Well, yes, that's true. Yeah, I mean you can't, hey, you know what? I'm gonna auction off this pen. Let's start the bidding at twenty dollars. Who's gonna buy that pen for twenty dollars? Yeah, you know. I know uh no. I mean it's not like it's it's it's it's Mike Hammer's pen, big whoop-de-doo. Who cares who you know, Mike Hammer? But I mean, if you put a pen out there or a doll out there, it uh that's it, it's it's we did get rid of the curio cabinets.

SPEAKER_01

And nobody was hitting on that. And we were able to find a local school. School, wow, needed them to for their swim team to put their uh trophies in.

SPEAKER_04

It was really nice. Very nice.

SPEAKER_01

They were so excited, the kids are so excited, and they sent us pictures of of it being displayed with all their trophies in there. Yeah, beautiful light up and everything.

SPEAKER_03

So I'm glad it got something that really could use it.

SPEAKER_04

We appreciate it. Get the use out of it and get a nice display out of it and basically so and we still have stuff left, so we still have stuff left.

SPEAKER_01

That could use a little TLC and could be a good product.

SPEAKER_04

I think we I think the dressers are gone. We have no space right now.

SPEAKER_05

We have the we got the garage is full. We got the spare. We got an air garage, and maybe we have more space.

SPEAKER_04

No, no. In a couple of in a couple of weeks, Steve, you're gonna have to find the lawnmower in there. Oh well because we're gonna need it to cut the grass. We can find it. Yeah, right.

SPEAKER_01

Really nice holiday stuff.

SPEAKER_05

Right, yeah, right.

SPEAKER_01

We have uh a really nice white socks thing we're gonna put on our entryway. Yeah. A lot of different holiday stuff that is really nice. So we took some of them and we have a lot of Halloween and stuff already, so I'm gonna have to wean out some of the stuff we have to bring in the new stuff.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

But uh, yeah, so that took up some space, but we were able to open up the attic and move a bunch of stuff from the basement that was Christmas evening. Christmas.

SPEAKER_04

I actually like that idea. Yes.

SPEAKER_05

We made add I mean We can take it from the outside. Right from up We like to go all the way downstairs. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

So that made a lot of room.

SPEAKER_04

I like that idea. Yes. And I haven't been up I haven't been up there yet, but when I go up there, I better not be unpleasantly surprised.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, yeah, ween together.

SPEAKER_04

Good, because I'm gonna kill them if it's a mess. Yeah. You know I am about the organization. We got everything in the blow molds.

SPEAKER_01

So they take flash space. So we moved all that.

SPEAKER_04

And it's silly to have them all the way in the farthest point of the basement. I mean, granted, we only use them for a couple of months out of the year, but they're at the farthest point of the basement, and we use them every single year. So they're all the way in the back of the basement. Yes, yes, this in yeah. This it this makes more sense. Put them in the attic over the garage, then we just take them down and use them.

SPEAKER_05

That's right. And then put them right back up. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. So we like to do that. And what's nice is that all four of us like like the holidays, so we like to decorate for each holiday. So you know, we're trying to bring down and yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Was there anything else we want to recap over what we did talked about last year?

SPEAKER_01

Um the food.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, that's yeah. Many, so many new foods.

SPEAKER_01

So much fun. So we'd love to do that again. We're trying to work on some sponsors. I got a TikTok shop now.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, if we if we taste the food.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, you can buy it or purchase it on my TikTok. TikTok.

SPEAKER_04

So what we're doing right now is we're recording live, and there's an actual video feed that you can watch live if you record if you're listening, watching our recording live on it's on Facebook, right? Yes. So you can watch us live right now. It is currently March 11th, and it is 10 05 p.m. Yeah, 10 05. So if you're watching right now live. Yeah. So if you're watching us live, that's the time we're broadcasting this live, and we're going to show you some food things. And if you decide you want to buy one of those food things that we try and you and you like it, and if you decide to go to uh where was it, where is it? Uh Costco buy it, yes, we actually get a little feedback, a little kickback. Yeah. Affiliate marketer.

SPEAKER_01

We're trying to uh get some affiliate marketing back on market.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, we try to get back everything on lines. And that goes back at you guys too. If there's something that you think that you that you like that we haven't tried, you should send us a notice. And then we try to get the right down, see the bottom there, right there in the like yeah, right. Down there in that corner. Yeah, let it tell. Now, what is it what does it say for the people that are listening on the radio?

SPEAKER_01

Right now it says our Hannah greatcook at gmail.com.

SPEAKER_04

So we gotta change that, don't we?

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I will change that.

SPEAKER_04

We're gonna change that. But that's what we're using right now.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

So if you have an idea of something that we should try in our taste testing, and you can email to that email right there. But that's going to be changing.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Yes. So we have to you have to get all these things together before you get started.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, yeah. We tried those brownies, uh the crunchy brownies.

SPEAKER_04

Yes. Those were good.

SPEAKER_02

Brownie brittle. Brownie brittle. Those were good. Those were really good.

unknown

So good.

SPEAKER_02

Those were good.

SPEAKER_01

I am we tried, oh, those caramels, those sea salt caramels.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, they're those were good.

SPEAKER_01

Those were from Costco. Yeah, just a little bit of sea salt on them. Oh, we're good.

SPEAKER_05

They're brownie MMs. Them the ones I got for Christmas.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, you got some.

SPEAKER_05

Very good.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, so today we got uh treatings.

SPEAKER_05

Are we gonna do that now?

SPEAKER_01

Oh no, we got one. I'm just gonna do one.

SPEAKER_02

You're just gonna do one?

SPEAKER_01

We got these nerds. Okay. They're called nerd pierces. They are a gummy cluster. Now I wanna know who invented these. It had to be somebody.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, this is you're stealing my lines.

SPEAKER_01

Don't you think somebody smoking pot?

SPEAKER_05

I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

What do you say about them?

SPEAKER_04

Well, well, that's my line exactly. Could you imagine these going they were putting them together? Okay, let's check it, let's take a n let's take a gummy and get it really sticky and put nerds on it and see what it tastes like. We'll stick a bunch of nerds to it. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

This is the strawberry.

SPEAKER_04

Okay.

SPEAKER_03

I uh yeah, I I'm gonna I'm gonna lie to say I haven't had these before, but we've had them before. They're not good for diabetic. Oh my god, they're not going for people watching their teeth.

SPEAKER_04

For six calories. Yeah. For six? Oh my god, no wonder I'm gaining weight. Oh, okay.

SPEAKER_01

So there's eighteen grams of sugar.

SPEAKER_03

Six. Six. Take out six, take out six. I gotta try it. Oh yeah. Five, six. Oh, okay. Here comes Remy. She's gonna get it. Oh, they're gone.

SPEAKER_01

That's one serving. Well, okay.

SPEAKER_03

One serving. So this is my six. This is ninety calories. Oh it's my six right there. I'm gonna try it. So you know what? We should each take six.

SPEAKER_01

That's bad for your they look almost like a juji.

SPEAKER_03

No, they look like a dot.

SPEAKER_01

A dot. A dot. They look like a dot, and then they got nerds out.

SPEAKER_04

They're covered in nerds.

SPEAKER_01

And then you eat all and they're chewing.

SPEAKER_04

They crunch. What, Remy? What, what, what?

SPEAKER_00

But they're on the nerve. Or on the oh.

SPEAKER_04

Okay, try not to talk with your mouthful. It sounds really bad.

SPEAKER_00

Oh.

SPEAKER_04

They're very good.

SPEAKER_00

Very good. They're juicy nerds. Oh, I didn't try to get you.

SPEAKER_05

Yes, they got juice. Uh, if they get any you got any feedback, get them and let us know how you like them.

SPEAKER_04

Okay, you need to put okay, okay, okay, wait, wait, wait, wait. We you're not doing this exactly right. We have to hold that up to the screen so people can see what it is. You gotta hold it up to the screen better.

SPEAKER_05

Better. Push it right there. Oh, okay.

SPEAKER_04

So anybody watching on screen right now or anybody that's watching in the future, watching on the screen, because it's it's you we already determined it's March 11th, and it is like what what time is it now? It's about 10 after 10.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. 10 mega 10 megaways.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

So these are the ones, these are newer. These have like a inside there's a draw juice.

SPEAKER_05

They're good.

SPEAKER_01

So they're a little different. The other ones I had, which are these, these these are just the regular ones, but have the juice in the middle.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

The thing is, you can have sixteen for 90 calories. For a hundred calories. And uh sugar is twenty-one grams.

SPEAKER_04

So higher in sugar. Yeah. No, that's because they're not full of sh they're not a sugar thing, they're like a sugar juice inside.

SPEAKER_05

Oh yeah. Mm-hmm. Very good.

SPEAKER_01

Either one. They're about 270 a bag.

SPEAKER_03

275 a bag. Then what what would you say it tastes like?

SPEAKER_01

These taste like uh like strawberry punch.

SPEAKER_04

They do taste like strawberry punch. That's exactly what I was gonna say. What what number you take for that? What do you say they call like they taste like?

SPEAKER_05

Oh like like well. I think they taste like strawberry punch. Yeah, strawberry punch.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. Is that what it says it's supposed to taste like strawberry punch? a 10 on there. These are fantastic. These are these are horribly addicting. They're really good. Now I've always been traditionally the the Russian judge and the guy that always gives the bad score. But these are getting a really good score from me because these are really good.

SPEAKER_05

I take a 10 terrible you will hate them. Buy them and give them to me. Yeah. No. Can they have them? Mike you could get them at maybe Target too. I don't know. I wonder if you can get a Dow store. Yeah they have them out I never see them at the Dallas store.

SPEAKER_01

Sure they'll be there soon.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. Or Dow Dow Jenno.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. They're good. Bad, bad, bad.

SPEAKER_05

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

And then uh I would say um the other thing that, you know, was our highlight of last year too was we we did your class reunion.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah can't something yeah across the street but yeah they were the but it was that was very nice.

SPEAKER_05

And very t you're very touched to see all you friends from they're very touchy.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah all right so uh I think we're gonna wrap up this uh this session this was just a recap really is that already we're gonna recap going on last year that we enjoyed talking about moving forward I think um we're gonna do some more controversial stuff and we're gonna try to pull some stuff that's trending some restaurants maybe that are trending and Tavern on the Glen.
