Mr Brown Goes on Strike 1919
It’s 1919 and the government want to reduce railway workers wages to pre-First World War levels. A strike follows and the Sheffield Independent’s female reporter is sent to tell its story.
Tales from the Rails are ten short audio dramas researched, written and performed by young people and community members centred around Newfield School, Sheffield. The group researched the history of the Sheffield railway line and used their discoveries to create scripts which they then recorded, with the help and support of Whitworks Adventures in Theatre. The project was supported by East Midlands Railway Community Fund.
