I was out there for a decade"},{"startTime":62.602,"endTime":66.17,"body":"and actually got out before all that stuff went down. Definitely keeping my ears on"},{"startTime":66.18,"endTime":69.922,"body":"the streets and understand how these things move. But my skill sets really focus"},{"startTime":69.976,"endTime":73.762,"body":"on systems engineering, but also a software engineer. And one of the things that I also like to remind or tell"},{"startTime":81.292,"endTime":84.486,"body":"people about in terms of my journey working at Twitter is I actually worked and"},{"startTime":84.508,"endTime":88.182,"body":"was the team lead for what you can describe as, like,"},{"startTime":88.236,"endTime":91.926,"body":"twitter's AWS or GCP or cloud platform. So we"},{"startTime":91.948,"endTime":95.606,"body":"basically manage all of the cloud services that runs hundreds of thousands of"},{"startTime":95.628,"endTime":98.726,"body":"computers all over the world. And I was a team lead there. Y'all didn't even"},{"startTime":98.748,"endTime":102.318,"body":"know I was back there holding it long. Yeah, man, you're the glue holding it"},{"startTime":102.324,"endTime":106.126,"body":"together for sure. That's good stuff, man. So when it comes to"},{"startTime":106.148,"endTime":109.854,"body":"your role, a lot of people outside of tech might not be familiar with the"},{"startTime":109.892,"endTime":113.454,"body":"site reliability engineer. For those"},{"startTime":113.492,"endTime":116.994,"body":"that want to learn more about it, how would you describe that"},{"startTime":117.032,"endTime":120.574,"body":"role? And then how'd you get started? Yeah, so site reliability"},{"startTime":120.622,"endTime":124.402,"body":"engineering, just as it's described. Site reliability. So our main focus"},{"startTime":124.456,"endTime":128.134,"body":"is keeping the site up. That's kind of like the punchline, right? But we are"},{"startTime":128.172,"endTime":131.91,"body":"one of those group of engineers that know how majority of all of it works,"},{"startTime":131.98,"endTime":135.634,"body":"from the hardware data center, operating systems"},{"startTime":135.762,"endTime":139.126,"body":"applications, to actually the client applications on your"},{"startTime":139.148,"endTime":142.706,"body":"device. And our role and responsibility is make sure that the user"},{"startTime":142.738,"endTime":145.962,"body":"experience is maintained at the level that we agree upon, like"},{"startTime":146.016,"endTime":149.706,"body":"99.9% of the time. And the reason why I bring this up is that most"},{"startTime":149.728,"endTime":153.318,"body":"people always think that Twitter and applications are up 100% of the time. They're"},{"startTime":153.334,"endTime":157.182,"body":"never up 100%. There has to be some wiggle room for us to break things"},{"startTime":157.236,"endTime":160.398,"body":"and so that we can actually iterate in the system. And that's one of the"},{"startTime":160.404,"endTime":164.034,"body":"foundational things that site reliability engineers focus on"},{"startTime":164.072,"endTime":167.73,"body":"is implementing practices around system design,"},{"startTime":167.88,"endTime":171.17,"body":"software design, and also being that resource for if something"},{"startTime":171.24,"endTime":174.974,"body":"breaks, we usually know how to fix it or help coordinate the efforts"},{"startTime":175.022,"endTime":178.582,"body":"to fix it. The team that I worked on, we had site"},{"startTime":178.636,"endTime":182.486,"body":"outages where all of Twitter went down. And I can recall a"},{"startTime":182.508,"endTime":186.294,"body":"number of incidents where the person they're looking at or"},{"startTime":186.332,"endTime":189.446,"body":"looking for is me. Right. And the whole world didn't even know about that. It"},{"startTime":189.468,"endTime":193.274,"body":"was me that actually provided that support. I actually have a chapter in a book"},{"startTime":193.312,"endTime":197.114,"body":"that I'm working on. The book is titled breaking Barriers my journey to"},{"startTime":197.152,"endTime":200.586,"body":"top of Tech. And one of the chapters is called the world knows me, but"},{"startTime":200.608,"endTime":204.286,"body":"you all don't know me yet, because I can recall one time in"},{"startTime":204.308,"endTime":208.078,"body":"2019 where the site was actually down and"},{"startTime":208.164,"endTime":211.726,"body":"I was actually the engineer that typed in the command to fix it. And I"},{"startTime":211.748,"endTime":215.598,"body":"told everybody, yo, turn on CNN real quick, and five minutes later, Twitter is back"},{"startTime":215.604,"endTime":219.15,"body":"up and running. So it's like that type of endeavors that site reliability"},{"startTime":219.23,"endTime":222.786,"body":"engineers have the responsibility to ensure that the site is"},{"startTime":222.808,"endTime":226.286,"body":"up and also have the skill sets to kind of put it all together, leading"},{"startTime":226.318,"endTime":229.54,"body":"efforts and so on and so forth. So my journey really,"},{"startTime":229.99,"endTime":233.686,"body":"if we go all the way back. So I didn't start tech until about 2002."},{"startTime":233.868,"endTime":237.158,"body":"I'm a first generation haitian American. Big shout out to all my ieseas out"},{"startTime":237.164,"endTime":240.626,"body":"there. I'm originally from down here in south Florida. I'm up in Palm"},{"startTime":240.658,"endTime":244.266,"body":"beach, but I don't have a college degree. That's like,"},{"startTime":244.368,"endTime":247.286,"body":"how in the world can you work at a company ten years and leading teams"},{"startTime":247.318,"endTime":250.586,"body":"without a college degree? What that means is, if I can do it, you can"},{"startTime":250.608,"endTime":254.234,"body":"definitely do it, too. And that's like, one thing that I wanted to emphasize with"},{"startTime":254.272,"endTime":257.854,"body":"your listeners and anybody that tunes in. Now, without that, that"},{"startTime":257.892,"endTime":260.638,"body":"means my route to the top. I had to take the scenic route. There was"},{"startTime":260.644,"endTime":263.678,"body":"no elevator, there was no plug, there was no connect. I need to start at"},{"startTime":263.684,"endTime":267.374,"body":"the bottom and work myself up and starting at the bottom actually really required"},{"startTime":267.422,"endTime":270.99,"body":"me to do more customer service type support, like at the help desk,"},{"startTime":271.07,"endTime":274.894,"body":"level two, application support, and then eventually moving into systems"},{"startTime":274.942,"endTime":278.646,"body":"engineering. Now, once I made the shift into systems engineering, this is"},{"startTime":278.668,"endTime":282.182,"body":"like designing computers in a way that we"},{"startTime":282.236,"endTime":285.814,"body":"don't have failure in our environment. If one application is running on one"},{"startTime":285.852,"endTime":288.886,"body":"computer, we have to design it away so that you have the application running in"},{"startTime":288.908,"endTime":292.598,"body":"two places. So if one of them breaks, and that's kind of what systems engineering"},{"startTime":292.694,"endTime":296.326,"body":"skill sets come into play, not just understanding systems, but understanding"},{"startTime":296.358,"endTime":300.022,"body":"hardware, operating systems, kernels, new features,"},{"startTime":300.166,"endTime":303.91,"body":"and then eventually iterating. So after I've developed that"},{"startTime":303.92,"endTime":307.694,"body":"skills as a systems engineer, working at places like South Florida Water"},{"startTime":307.732,"endTime":311.566,"body":"Management District, which is state, local government, and actually citrus systems right"},{"startTime":311.588,"endTime":314.766,"body":"down the street right over here, I worked there for about two years, managing their"},{"startTime":314.788,"endTime":318.542,"body":"data center infrastructure. And then I got the phone call. I got drafted at Twitter,"},{"startTime":318.606,"endTime":322.286,"body":"and I was out in 2013. But I also developed"},{"startTime":322.318,"endTime":325.934,"body":"more skills once I got to Twitter, not just around systems engineering, but software"},{"startTime":325.982,"endTime":329.686,"body":"engineering. And soon as I did that, Jared changed the game"},{"startTime":329.708,"endTime":333.526,"body":"for me, because now my mindset was automating myself out of a"},{"startTime":333.548,"endTime":337.126,"body":"job. Like anything that I had to do, manual, any software that I had to"},{"startTime":337.148,"endTime":340.886,"body":"manage. Automate, automate, automate. And learning that skill set really took"},{"startTime":340.908,"endTime":344.666,"body":"me to that next level. And I built up that proficiency working in an"},{"startTime":344.688,"endTime":348.506,"body":"environment like Twitter because I was learning from experts. Right. One"},{"startTime":348.528,"endTime":352.074,"body":"thing that I like to remind people as they're learning, getting into this field"},{"startTime":352.192,"endTime":355.966,"body":"is to be okay with reading other people's code to"},{"startTime":355.988,"endTime":359.774,"body":"figure out how this stuff works. One of the biggest challenges my mentees have"},{"startTime":359.812,"endTime":363.614,"body":"are trying to figure this stuff out, trying to learn. And we"},{"startTime":363.652,"endTime":367.234,"body":"actually work in an industry where we play in a playground that"},{"startTime":367.272,"endTime":370.962,"body":"everybody has access to. It's called GitHub. If you have access"},{"startTime":371.016,"endTime":374.594,"body":"to GitHub, you have access to the source of so much code that you should"},{"startTime":374.632,"endTime":377.666,"body":"be able to develop those skill sets, but you got to have that passion and"},{"startTime":377.688,"endTime":380.886,"body":"interest to go develop it. I wish I had that starting back in"},{"startTime":380.908,"endTime":384.646,"body":"2002. Right? This is like the access to any type of information you"},{"startTime":384.668,"endTime":388.386,"body":"have. And now with AI, which we'll talk about later, but it's just opening"},{"startTime":388.418,"endTime":391.818,"body":"up for our people to really embrace this idea that you may not need a"},{"startTime":391.824,"endTime":395.546,"body":"four year college degree, I'm not putting them down, but you still need"},{"startTime":395.568,"endTime":399.238,"body":"some supplemental education, even afterwards, to continue to develop those skills."},{"startTime":399.334,"endTime":403.082,"body":"So that's how know started off at the bottom and worked my way up to"},{"startTime":403.136,"endTime":406.286,"body":"being able to work at Twitter for a number of years. Yeah. One thing I"},{"startTime":406.308,"endTime":410.154,"body":"don't want people to miss is one of the companies you worked for before Cisco"},{"startTime":410.282,"endTime":413.854,"body":"wasn't a traditional tech company, but you had a tech"},{"startTime":413.892,"endTime":417.726,"body":"role for sure. And that's something that I just want people that are outside of"},{"startTime":417.748,"endTime":420.546,"body":"tech to understand that you can be at a non tech company and have a"},{"startTime":420.568,"endTime":424.206,"body":"tech role. How were you able to acquire that role? Yeah. So that non"},{"startTime":424.238,"endTime":427.894,"body":"tech role was actually state, local government working for the South Florida water"},{"startTime":427.932,"endTime":431.622,"body":"management district. So if you're in South Florida, and I mean from maybe"},{"startTime":431.676,"endTime":435.494,"body":"Okeechobee down to the keys, we have something called"},{"startTime":435.612,"endTime":439.366,"body":"the lake right in the middle of the state. Right. But we need"},{"startTime":439.388,"endTime":442.922,"body":"to be able to control the water flow, how much water we have out"},{"startTime":442.976,"endTime":446.49,"body":"west, like the bellglade areas I'm talking about,"},{"startTime":446.64,"endTime":449.926,"body":"know, coral Springs, those areas, like on the edge of the"},{"startTime":449.968,"endTime":453.706,"body":"Everglades, is a organization that basically manages"},{"startTime":453.738,"endTime":457.486,"body":"the water flow down in South Florida. And that organization, South Florida water"},{"startTime":457.508,"endTime":461.166,"body":"Management District, needed to have computing resources to"},{"startTime":461.188,"endTime":464.958,"body":"help statistical analysis on rainfall. So another thing"},{"startTime":464.964,"endTime":468.754,"body":"that they do is also do predictions and hurricanes. So one"},{"startTime":468.792,"endTime":472.446,"body":"thing that a lot of people don't know is that the prediction software runs"},{"startTime":472.478,"endTime":476.226,"body":"on hyperscale clusters. It's not like just one computer that you put"},{"startTime":476.248,"endTime":479.298,"body":"in a few numbers and it generates a map and says, hey, this is the"},{"startTime":479.304,"endTime":483.094,"body":"direction of the hurricane and or the impact of how much water could"},{"startTime":483.132,"endTime":486.262,"body":"flow or fall in the lake and what we would have to do with it."},{"startTime":486.316,"endTime":490.146,"body":"But you have to manage and build these large clusters to run these models."},{"startTime":490.258,"endTime":493.098,"body":"So that's where I actually came into play, where I actually built one of the"},{"startTime":493.104,"endTime":496.778,"body":"first compute clusters for the South Florida water Management District. That"},{"startTime":496.864,"endTime":500.102,"body":"is basically the workhorse behind doing those statistical"},{"startTime":500.166,"endTime":503.962,"body":"modeling. I know it doesn't sound like a techie job where you're building"},{"startTime":504.016,"endTime":507.278,"body":"something, where it's an app or building something where customers are going to log into."},{"startTime":507.364,"endTime":510.522,"body":"But just think of the skill sets that we bring to the table as helping"},{"startTime":510.586,"endTime":514.306,"body":"with those type of decisions, using machine learning,"},{"startTime":514.488,"endTime":518.306,"body":"computing power data to make decisions, and generating those in"},{"startTime":518.328,"endTime":522.082,"body":"a way that executives can make those decisions. So that's kind of where"},{"startTime":522.216,"endTime":525.842,"body":"it's not a techie, know, Citrix systems or"},{"startTime":525.896,"endTime":529.682,"body":"Google or Facebook type thing or Twitter, but it's definitely an organization"},{"startTime":529.746,"endTime":533.558,"body":"where I learned the most hands down. When I first got to the"},{"startTime":533.564,"endTime":537.366,"body":"South Florida management district, I actually had two technical mentors that had"},{"startTime":537.388,"endTime":540.854,"body":"a little difficulties, me being young, black, ambitious,"},{"startTime":540.982,"endTime":544.554,"body":"very outgoing. And eventually, I worked them over, but they really just"},{"startTime":544.592,"endTime":548.006,"body":"opened my minds up into how I can sharpen my skill"},{"startTime":548.038,"endTime":551.722,"body":"sets around systems engineering and really start to help develop great"},{"startTime":551.776,"endTime":555.626,"body":"systems that the state still uses now today. And that's"},{"startTime":555.818,"endTime":559.646,"body":"outside of tech in the sense of the use case for it. Yeah, no,"},{"startTime":559.668,"endTime":562.446,"body":"I'm glad you broke it down like that. Just to open people's minds up that"},{"startTime":562.468,"endTime":566.174,"body":"you don't have to just go for the Google's and the Microsoft's, et cetera. Look"},{"startTime":566.212,"endTime":569.854,"body":"at government, look at healthcare, look at all different kind of companies. Visa,"},{"startTime":569.902,"endTime":573.682,"body":"Mastercard, they all have huge tech organizations and"},{"startTime":573.736,"endTime":577.554,"body":"opportunities. If you're at a non tech company, look to see are there tech"},{"startTime":577.592,"endTime":581.286,"body":"roles there? And if you can transfer us also real quick, I think you"},{"startTime":581.308,"endTime":584.95,"body":"might have brought it up, but just in case you didn't, where did you learn"},{"startTime":585.02,"endTime":588.646,"body":"your first initial skills to get you sharp"},{"startTime":588.678,"endTime":591.74,"body":"enough to at least get that first job? Yeah. So"},{"startTime":592.67,"endTime":596.074,"body":"I was one of those kids that my parents used"},{"startTime":596.112,"endTime":599.866,"body":"to hate buying me toys because I was"},{"startTime":599.888,"endTime":602.986,"body":"one of those kids that used to take things apart. I remember the first time"},{"startTime":603.008,"endTime":606.846,"body":"I got a remote controlled car and it was wireless. I was like,"},{"startTime":606.868,"endTime":609.326,"body":"how in the world? Last Christmas I got one that had a wire and this"},{"startTime":609.348,"endTime":612.974,"body":"one had no wire. Let me take that. I found my dad's screwdriver, Phillips head"},{"startTime":613.012,"endTime":616.626,"body":"flathead. I popped that thing open just to see what this light does and try"},{"startTime":616.648,"endTime":620.386,"body":"to understand how this stuff works. That's like foundational to"},{"startTime":620.408,"endTime":624.194,"body":"me in terms of what drove me to want to learn this stuff, because I"},{"startTime":624.232,"endTime":628.034,"body":"want to know how it works. Like, how does our audio goes through this"},{"startTime":628.072,"endTime":631.414,"body":"wire here into a computer? And it's generating. Right, like, I want to"},{"startTime":631.452,"endTime":635.254,"body":"know. And that's like, mindset wise, something that I've carried since"},{"startTime":635.292,"endTime":639.078,"body":"I was a child. When I graduated high school, I had one"},{"startTime":639.084,"endTime":642.246,"body":"of those haitian families like, oh, you need to be a doctor, lawyer. You need"},{"startTime":642.268,"endTime":645.69,"body":"to go do this. I was a c student, chasing girls, having fun, whatever."},{"startTime":645.76,"endTime":649.546,"body":"But I always knew that I had passion for technology and engineering, and those were"},{"startTime":649.568,"endTime":652.458,"body":"not the things that I was passionate about. So I decided to go to a"},{"startTime":652.464,"endTime":656.27,"body":"technical school, which was up in West Palm beach called Palm Beach Tech,"},{"startTime":656.34,"endTime":659.786,"body":"or I'm sorry, Palm Beach, New England Tech. New England tech of the palm beaches."},{"startTime":659.818,"endTime":663.614,"body":"I apologize. And that school offered just a two"},{"startTime":663.652,"endTime":667.374,"body":"year program focused on certifications. Because what I found out when I first"},{"startTime":667.412,"endTime":670.946,"body":"got in is that everybody's trying to get into the industry at the same time,"},{"startTime":671.048,"endTime":674.594,"body":"but how can I develop something that I can take to a job and say,"},{"startTime":674.632,"endTime":677.986,"body":"hey, I have the skills quiz. Me, but I don't"},{"startTime":678.018,"endTime":681.766,"body":"have a degree. But with the"},{"startTime":681.788,"endTime":685.366,"body":"certification, it still gave me clout enough for me to have a real"},{"startTime":685.468,"endTime":689.206,"body":"intellectual conversation. And then once I get in the conversation, all it is is just,"},{"startTime":689.228,"endTime":691.114,"body":"I got to figure out how to get you where I got to go type"},{"startTime":691.152,"endTime":694.874,"body":"stuff, right, because I've always been a talker. But the thing that"},{"startTime":694.912,"endTime":698.474,"body":"really just catapulted my career is when I pursued a certification called the red"},{"startTime":698.512,"endTime":702.298,"body":"hat certified engineer. Now, this certification is not just"},{"startTime":702.464,"endTime":705.498,"body":"a test where you say a, b or c type stuff, but you actually have"},{"startTime":705.504,"endTime":709.246,"body":"to show your work. The exam requires you to fix a computer. They"},{"startTime":709.268,"endTime":711.822,"body":"give you a list that says, hey, these are the parameters you need to complete"},{"startTime":711.876,"endTime":715.55,"body":"within an hour. If you complete them, thumbs up if you don't, try again."},{"startTime":715.62,"endTime":719.374,"body":"Right. And red hat really developed this test so that we in the industry"},{"startTime":719.422,"endTime":722.878,"body":"can weed out people that actually really understand what's going on, so that we don't"},{"startTime":722.894,"endTime":726.098,"body":"have to go through entry level type questions. We're going to really just talk to"},{"startTime":726.104,"endTime":729.574,"body":"you about high level questions and with the certification that gives you that type"},{"startTime":729.612,"endTime":733.346,"body":"of access. And that certification shot"},{"startTime":733.378,"endTime":737.206,"body":"me right to the stars, because most companies, especially if they're Internet companies, are"},{"startTime":737.228,"endTime":740.834,"body":"running on an operating system called Linux. One of the most common operating"},{"startTime":740.882,"endTime":744.726,"body":"system is red hat or Sentos or Ubuntu. And at"},{"startTime":744.748,"endTime":748.546,"body":"the time, I was really into Red Hat Linux. So that was the certification path"},{"startTime":748.578,"endTime":751.838,"body":"that I pursued. And once I was able to put that two and two together,"},{"startTime":751.924,"endTime":755.374,"body":"it just changed my opportunities and the doors opened up. College degree didn't even matter"},{"startTime":755.412,"endTime":759.226,"body":"anymore, even when I went to work for Citrix. Yeah, man, I appreciate you breaking"},{"startTime":759.258,"endTime":762.078,"body":"that down because, yeah, at the end of the day, if you don't have a"},{"startTime":762.084,"endTime":765.678,"body":"college degree, there are paths to get into. Tech certifications are key,"},{"startTime":765.764,"endTime":769.426,"body":"but just be intentional about the ones that you get. Find the role that you"},{"startTime":769.448,"endTime":773.122,"body":"actually want. Find your. Why be curious? That's been a common"},{"startTime":773.176,"endTime":776.83,"body":"thing across the guests for sure. What led them to their path"},{"startTime":776.91,"endTime":780.718,"body":"is they had an extreme curiosity. And that curiosity shows like"},{"startTime":780.744,"endTime":784.534,"body":"a deep level of interest, which will also propel you to be number"},{"startTime":784.572,"endTime":788.214,"body":"one, effective at your interview, and then more effective once you get the job, because"},{"startTime":788.252,"endTime":791.942,"body":"you're not just doing it for the tech money or for the tech cloud."},{"startTime":792.076,"endTime":795.834,"body":"Back in the day, there was no tech cloud, but the money was always good."},{"startTime":795.872,"endTime":799.434,"body":"Yeah, but at the end of the day, you got to have something bigger than"},{"startTime":799.552,"endTime":803.358,"body":"just the money or the status to actually perform"},{"startTime":803.444,"endTime":806.11,"body":"really well. For sure. You had skeptical,"},{"startTime":807.01,"endTime":810.846,"body":"I guess, supervisors initially, that's going to happen and how you power through"},{"startTime":810.868,"endTime":814.606,"body":"it is because you really wanted to learn and you"},{"startTime":814.628,"endTime":818.446,"body":"really, really wanted to execute. You provided great results,"},{"startTime":818.558,"endTime":821.986,"body":"which is how you got to where you are, for sure. There's a saying that"},{"startTime":822.008,"endTime":825.506,"body":"I tell my mentees when I'm telling them about pursuing a"},{"startTime":825.528,"endTime":829.378,"body":"passion. We already knew. We were"},{"startTime":1058.452,"endTime":1062.298,"body":"at the first orientation. We was over there waving you down. We was telling"},{"startTime":1062.314,"endTime":1065.842,"body":"you to pull up and just giving you that feeling of welcome home type"},{"startTime":1065.896,"endTime":1069.49,"body":"thing. It changed everybody's mind."},{"startTime":1069.64,"endTime":1073.266,"body":"I'll tell you a quick story. So the first two black interns that we"},{"startTime":1073.288,"endTime":1076.854,"body":"hired at Twitter was a mission that we actually really was"},{"startTime":1076.972,"endTime":1080.07,"body":"focused on, because the hiring pipeline,"},{"startTime":1080.41,"endTime":1083.32,"body":"unfortunately, was just overflowed with the common"},{"startTime":1083.93,"endTime":1087.314,"body":"group of individuals that pursue this field of technology and engineering."},{"startTime":1087.442,"endTime":1091.226,"body":"And myself and a few other black engineers were like, yo, we know"},{"startTime":1091.248,"endTime":1094.186,"body":"we have the skill sets. You all just not looking in the right place. So"},{"startTime":1094.208,"endTime":1097.866,"body":"they finally found two very bright black engineers to come"},{"startTime":1097.888,"endTime":1101.53,"body":"into an internship program. So when I first, one thing about me, I'm a very extrovert. As soon as I got over there and"},{"startTime":1254.884,"endTime":1257.866,"body":"I seen how they move, I was like, y'all really want me to be Bobby"},{"startTime":1257.898,"endTime":1261.214,"body":"D, y'all? Sure. All right, then let's turn the knob up. And I just really"},{"startTime":1261.252,"endTime":1265.006,"body":"was over there just changing people's mindsets, doing it. They"},{"startTime":1265.028,"endTime":1268.446,"body":"didn't even know it was happening. So much so that when I finally left Twitter"},{"startTime":1268.478,"endTime":1272.306,"body":"in about 2022, I couldn't count on the hands how many black"},{"startTime":1272.328,"endTime":1275.826,"body":"engineers we had. I couldn't count on my hand how many black engineering managers we"},{"startTime":1275.848,"endTime":1279.57,"body":"had. I couldn't count on how many hands we had in sales and"},{"startTime":1279.64,"endTime":1283.378,"body":"marketing. It was like a movement that I was sitting back and I'm"},{"startTime":1283.394,"endTime":1286.706,"body":"not a hands on because I like to sit back and watch it grow, plant"},{"startTime":1286.738,"endTime":1290.406,"body":"seeds and watch it grow. It was one of the greatest work I've done and"},{"startTime":1290.428,"endTime":1293.498,"body":"definitely going to be a chapter in my book for sure. You know how many"},{"startTime":1321.208,"endTime":1325.026,"body":"people's been holl at me to come through, right? And it's just because of"},{"startTime":1325.048,"endTime":1328.706,"body":"that mindset and being able to not just kill it at the keyboard,"},{"startTime":1328.818,"endTime":1332.55,"body":"but also interpersonal skills and help people develop and be"},{"startTime":1332.62,"endTime":1336.294,"body":"mindful of their biases. Why couldn't we hire that young black"},{"startTime":1336.412,"endTime":1340.166,"body":"engineer? Oh, because they said this when we interviewed you. You didn't say"},{"startTime":1340.188,"endTime":1344.026,"body":"that. And that's the type of things that I used to do all the"},{"startTime":1344.048,"endTime":1347.466,"body":"time to just open up everybody's minds and who we can have come into our"},{"startTime":1347.488,"endTime":1350.3,"body":"organization. And people flourish when you give them that opportunity."},{"startTime":1413.59,"endTime":1416.706,"body":"And I definitely saw the impact of blackbirds just on"},{"startTime":1416.728,"endTime":1419.7,"body":"Twitter.
