Shalom Aleichem's corpus is full of tales for children that, from a childish viewpoint, also cover painful issues such as dealing with violence and poverty . Among the many children who grew up on these tales is Kaplan himself – who, in the series of prints before you, deviated from his practice and inserted himself into the work, alongside the children gazing adoringly at the Yiddish writer.
