Welcome back to Film Haven Reviews!!! This week we are sadly saying goodbye to our Godzilla theme by talking about the original film from 1954!
I knew this was going to be a good movie, but I still was so impressed by the dark themes and the serious tone compared to the later films in the franchise. I was expecting to hold back some laughter from the "guy in a suit" version of Godzilla, but I was genuienly impressed by his design, as well as the cinematographer's ability to make him seem more menacing. I gave this film an 8.5/10 because it was entertaining and such a precedent in terms of special effects and creature feature horror. I also enjoyed the social commentary and anit-nuclear message.
