Episode 117: Heat (1995)

Sawyer Gann

Welcome back to Film Haven Reviews!!! This week we are finishing up our "Mann Movies" theme with arguably his best and most famous movie Heat (1995).

This movie is one of those films that actually live up to its legendary status. It's the culmination of all the Michael Mann movies we covered before: the story feels like a more fleshed out version of Thief (1981) and there is a cops and robbers element that feels alot like Manhunter (1986), and of course, this movies is BEAUTIFUL to look at. I gave this film a 9.5/10 for giving style and substance in equal measure and creating a crime epic that is truly a leader in its genre.

ALSO I recently did a guest spot on the podcast Box Office Books and everyone should go download the episode!! I'll put links to their socials and the episode here so go check it out!!!
