Brave in the Attempt EP4 Wes Spalding Unified generation
On this Episode of Brave in the Attempt Wyatt interviews his twin brother Weston Spalding. Wyatt and Wes have played Unified basketball and flag football together in special Olympics sense 2014. Before that Wes coached Wyatt's football and basketball teams. Wes talks about how he felt being able to play on sports teams while Wyatt sat on the sidelines. How watching Wyatt sit on the sidelines made him play that much harder in his High school Basketball games. When Wes started coaching special Olympics in 2010 he talks about how it made him work on being patient. Wes learned that he couldn't coach every athlete like he coached Wyatt by getting on him. Wes found the right formula to coach every athlete so he could help them reach their potential. Wes and Wyatt share some great exercises they had in Special Olympics together as Unified teammates. From state basketball and football tournaments. To Wyatt getting to play in the NBA cares all star game. The one exercise that tops it all is Wes and Wyatt got to play for Team Nebraska basketball team in Orlando Florida for the 2022 Special Olympics USA games! The brothers talk about how that meant the world to them to play together on a team where the completion was elite. Wyatt and Wes talk about why they would both workout so much as teenagers in the summertime. How you never should be ok with losing but use it as a tool to get better everyday to try and be the best player you can possible be.
