Brave in the Attempt
Brave in the Attempt Ep5 Rachel Mulligan. Special Olympics Powerlifter and all around athlete!.
Brave in the Attempt podcast is happy to have Special Olympics Athlete Rachel Mulligan on the show. Having a developmental disability and a fine motor skill condition doesn't stop Rachel from being an all-around athlete. She does bowling, basketball, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, powerlifting, bocce, track & field, soccer, and swimming. She has been to two USA Games once in 2018 for Track & Field and again in 2022 for Powerlifting. She also participated in World Games in 2017 for Cross Country Skiing. Special Olympics has helped build up her confidence on and off the playing field. Rachel was very shy in high school and Special Olympics helped her learn to be more of an advocate for herself in the school system. Once told by a psychologist that she'd never go to college, Rachel didn't listen to that negativity. In May 2023 Rachel graduated from the University of Nebraska Omaha with a major in criminal justice and art.
