Fremont Speical Olympics coach Cory Piercy
Wyatt interviews his former Special Olympics coach Cory Piercy. Wyatt played for Cory for 15 seasons. Cory coaches many Special Olympics sports in the Fremont community flag football, basketball, Track & field golf ect. Cory shares his experience growing up playing sports as a kid. Cory played college football and basketball at Midland University in Fremont. . Cory served in the Army reverse during college his number got called so he put his education on hold to go serve our country. Cory shares how he got into Special Olympics. He was supposed to just drop off an athlete but instead he decided to stay and watch the practice. Little did Cory know it would change his life forever. Cory talks about his coaching style and how he believes Special Olympics athletes are cable doing so much more in their sports than what people give them credit for. Cory talks about the different coaching strategy he uses in teaching his players the fundamentals. Whether its teaching team Nebraska flag football team offensive and defensive plays in the 2010 USA games or teaching a basketball drill at Fremont Special Olympics practice. Cory knows if you just are patient and give the athletes confidence they will complete the drill and game plan. Special Olympics athletes just want to be coached hard like all successful athletes. Wyatt and Cory also talk about health and great memorize they've had together as player coach.
